I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.

Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.

Joette is not a physician and the relationship between Joette and her clients is not of prescriber and patient, but as educator and client. It is fully the client's choice whether or not to take advantage of the information Joette presents. Homeopathy doesn't "treat" an illness; it addresses the entire person as a matter of wholeness that is an educational process, not a medical one. Joette believes that the advice and diagnosis of a physician is often in order.

Hi Emily, Since you’re a client/student of mine I hope we can discuss this on the phone with more specifics. For those who are interested in this question, it takes a bit more information to know the correct remedy for this little one. Yet, Emily’s solution of holding her son and giving plenty of care is one of the best I know, particularly when we understand that there’s nothing wrong with fever. In fact, it is one of the most curative methods known to mankind. A fever is actually necessary for completion of the illness. Suppressing it is tantamount to asking for the illness to be long term. Homeopathy can be of use if there is terrific pain, but otherwise I often teach that many ear infections and fevers can be left to complete themselves on their own. Just keep the baby hydrated.

    1. M Mitchell says:

I can’t see the original question by Emily.

  2. Kara says:

Help! My ear has been stopped up for over a week, possibly brought on by allergies? Anyone have a good tip for getting it unclogged?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Swelling of ears can sometimes be aided by Hepar sulph 6x, twice daily, but there be more to this than swelling or allergies.

  3. Keri says:

Hi Joette!! I am student from your Good Gut Bad Gut course and I am really enjoying your podcasts now too. Thank you so much for all the information!! I have a strange question about an ear infection I am dealing with. It started as a cough/sore throat which I was able to successfully treat with homeopathy. The ear infection has been annoying. It seems to get better then it comes back. It did that to me a few times now. I decided to use the Banerji protocol, (I have the book now), and so far it seems to be working. (I have been fooled before). My question isn’t specifically about treatment, as I think I have that under control now, (and I know you can’t take a case in this setting). My question has more to do with suppressed childhood illnesses. The last time I had an ear infection was when I was 2-3 years old. It only happened once and it was of course treated with antibiotics. Is this sort of the same ear infection? Is that why it had been so stubborn, the illness was pushed deeper into my body for nearly 40 years? I am really curious about the connection, (if there is one). My daughter caught the same virus, but no ear infection or sore throat. (It has been 3 weeks that my ear is bothering me on and off). Thank you for your insight. I am hoping there is a light at the end of the tunnel with this stubborn ear problem.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      Hi Keri,
Suppressed infections of years past often present later in life. Is it exactly the same infection? I’d say its the same presentation of a past infection that was ill treated. I’ll bet the protocol you’re using from the BP book will give you relief. Once this resolves, it will no longer be of keen interest. That’s when you know you’re done and you can relax. I look forward to hearing.

  4. Keri says:

Yes, that is what I was trying to ask, if it was my body’s way of resolving a past issue. (I didn’t think it was literally the same infection). It’s just strange because it has been so back and forth, sort of like a Pendulum swinging, (which I thought was odd for an acute condition). Yesterday it got worse but today it is much, much better. (Like 90%). Thank you for answering my question, I have no one to talk to about this. I am in love with homeopathy and I feel so empowered, the more I learn. I was almost happy at first to be suck so I could experiment on myself. 🙂

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Keri, I know the feeling of looking forward to being able to treat myself. Its empowering, isn’t it?

  5. Erica says:

My 7 year old is having major ear trouble. Started off at age 1 with 4 or 5 in a row then outgrew them until this year (2017). He’s complained of ear pain 6 times since January. I use Hepar Sulph onset and garlic drops but we’re repeating symptoms very often; ear pain, headache, low grade fever, fatigue and sometimes sore throat with white patch on tonsil. Strep comes back negative the majority of the time, he has had it a few times. Went to ENT and was told he has impacted wax in big ears so we’re currently trying to soften wax to be extracted. I’m pretty sure he has an infection now but they couldn’t see past the wax to know for sure. It’s exhausting for both of us and I’d love some direction. Thanks so much!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I usually use HS 200 for an infection of the ear and use it until there is no reason to continue. That is, until very much better.

  7. Barb says:

Joette thank I’ve started HS 200 last nite I can already ear the difference I’ve been searching for about 6 months trying different things have a merry Christmas I r a life saver!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

  8. Shweta says:

    Dear Joette,

My husband has severe sinus congestion and his right ear is blocked. We think his Eustachian tube is blocked. He just wants his right ear to pop so that the fluid drains out but it is not happening. He is hearing humming/buzzing sound and hearing is very less from right ear. He is getting yellow mucous from his nose as well. Please suggest what remedy might help him.

    Thanks,
    Shweta

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’m sorry, I don’t make personal suggestions here.

  9. Lucy says:

    Hello Joette

How often do we give the remedy and what potency. Thank you and best regardsmi

  10. sarah says:

Hello Joette, My husband has high ear wax production. He used ear plugs a couple of days ago and they seem to have compacted it in his ear. Is there a homeopathic remedy that would help reduce excess ear wax production or should he continue to use ear drops?
    Thank you so much,
    Sarah

  11. Christin says:

    Hi Joette,
My little one has been sick over two weeks. We got an ear infection diagnosis four days ago. I’ve tried all the remedies suggested and it’s not getting better. Belladonna made her so much worse and produced vomiting, a rash, fetid fluid pouring out both ears and a rash. I antidoted with Hep sulph 200 and am on my second dose today. She has been extremely pale but filu of energy and playful. Today she seems almost fussy. Her ears are not pouring but she is gaining more bumps. Would you stick with Hep sulph til dose four? I’m at a bit of a loss.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

When you observe improvement, it usually means the medicine you’re using is acting. If its not complete, the medicine is used until it is.

I assume you’re in one or my Gateway to Homeopathy study groups, right? If so, review the chapter on repetition. If not, join or start a group as soon as possible. THis is where the information you’re seeking is found.

  12. Joan Keefer says:

I had an ear infection on March 10. Went to dr was given antibiotics. I have constant tinnitus and hearing loss since March 10. Anyway to get rid of tinnitus. Dr said it could take several weeks to get rid of ringing and get hearing back. Can’t take much more

  13. Brittany says:

Do these remedies work for dogs too?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Dogs, cats, birds, cattle, infants, teens, the elderly, the pregnant. It is the ultimate medicine.

  14. Kara says:

My dog has a yeast ear infection. It happens when the weather gets warm and I know because she starts itching her ear a lot. Would I choose an ear infection protocol for her or a yeast infection protocol? I saw you had a blog about yeast infections that said Merc Sol or Arsenicum Album if itchy. If so, can I give her both merc sol and ars alb or just choose one? Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

We generally choose only the one that most suits the symptoms. Having said this allow me to add that just because there is itching doesn’t necessarily mean that there is a yeast infection. At this point, all you know is that she has itchy ears in warm weather. Use the facts and not speculation.

  15. Kara says:

Ok so if a vet confirms that it is a yeast ear infection and she is itching, I could try a yeast infection medicine. She has had these repetitively her whole life and the vet gives us an antifungal cream to put in her ears. Otherwise her symptoms are her ear is pink inside and itchy so I could try silica since it says itching in ear and that is her main symptom? Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Once you have a conventional diagnosis, it frees you to use the medicine specific to yeast infections.

    2. Briana says:

My dog also gets this. What ended up working for you? Just curious as I can’t seem to find the right fit. I do a diluted ACV rinse about every two weeks and that seems to keep it at bay, for now.

  16. s says:

What if the ear drum appears to have burst..? Which remedy might be best?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

We use symptoms to determine which one to choose.
For example, ask yourself, Is the pain excruciating? Then consider Belladonna or Chamomilla.
Is there an odor from the infection? Then consider the likes of Sulphur.

      1. Sarah says:

        Which potency of Sulphur? 30c?
