Ditch Birth Control Pills

Freedom — we Americans love it, and we expect it!

Ever since the 1960s, when the contraceptive pill became widely available, women have celebrated the “freedom” it granted them. No longer bound to child-rearing, women embraced “the pill” for affording them a freedom that was unimaginable in millennia past.

But also unimaginable were the pill’s side effects. And I’m not talking about the immediately evident ones, such as the weight gain, depression and blood clots, which the drug insert casually mentions (as if it were normal to experience them).

The risk of those side effects made the choice to stay with the pill (or not) one that women confidently felt in control of. Particularly because their doctors were in favor of the drug.

No, I’m talking instead about long-term effects that surreptitiously invade a woman’s life and manifest themselves in a more sinister way, many years later.

I’m talking about an increased risk of breast, liver and cervical cancer, as well as behavioral effects that include postpartum depression.

That’s certainly a high price for freedom.

The World Health Organization (WHO) classifies the pill as a Group 1 Carcinogen, along with asbestos, smoking and mustard gas.

Granted, that doesn’t mean they are all equally dangerous, but that statement is enough to get one’s attention.

What Group 1 classification does mean is that there is more than sufficient evidence that the substance is carcinogenic to humans. If you’ve ever been a juror, think of it this way: it can cause cancer “beyond a reasonable doubt.”

In the interest of full transparency, some may argue that the pill, while causative to some cancers, may actually protect against others.

Okay.

Yes, I see that in the report. But is it worth the risk? Sounds more like a game of Russian roulette to me.

Let’s face it, many women take birth control pills because it’s easy. It may even be the only answer they know of to prevent unwanted pregnancies. But with a little research, you can find safer options.

There are a myriad of books on the subject.

I don’t have a favorite recommendation, but a quick look on Amazon led to several intriguing choices I’ll list at the end of this blog.

But you know what really gets me? The laws in our country are set up so that when the discussion of birth control pills is brought up by doctors to underage girls, mothers are ushered out of the room!

Because the retail arm of the pharmaceutical industry (your doctor) is a trusted advocate.  Of what?  Sexual activity in girls? The doctors are now the child's confidant. Not the mother.

“Are you sexually active?” Asks the doctor. “I’ll not tell your mother. Just take these pills, and it will be okay.”

‘Drives me out of my mind! In my estimation, this is partially because of heavy congressional lobbying by “not-for-profit” organizations that benefit by targeting minorities and the innocent. You know the ones.

Those who promote sex education in schools while positioning themselves as the sex experts so that when a girl gets pregnant and abortion is being considered, they’re poised.

And just as serious is the message the use of the pill conveys. Need I go into the problem with the fabric of society that’s been torn as a result of “modern” thinking?

Granted, I’m not prepared to give you a foolproof homeopathic medicine to avoid pregnancy. Although, I suppose if you were to hold a pillule of any homeopathic medicine tightly between the knees at all times — that should do it!

But frankly, other conditions for which birth control pills are prescribed can be effectively addressed with homeopathy. For instance, The Pill is prescribed to young girls for acne! For acne, for crying out loud! Talk about a systemic “solution” to a localized issue!

Synthetic hormones foisted upon a young girl when her natural hormones haven’t even been established yet! Why risk a girl’s health and future fertility when a safe, polite, efficacious homeopathic medicine can address her skin issues?

We, as mothers and grandmothers, need to take more control of what is put in our daughters’ bodies — and take more time assessing the danger of what we put into our own bodies.

Maybe some of you have learned that lesson later in life after the damage has been done, such as: squelched libido, frank and unwarranted disgust for your husband, headaches, weight gain, depression, and hirsutism (unwanted facial and body hair).

Not to mention how the tinkering of hormones can affect subsequent offspring’s masculinity or femininity.

Yes. Think about that one for a moment.

Once you examine it closely enough, many of the conditions women experience come as a result of synthetic hormones.

But for every condition that results as a side effect of birth control pills, there is a homeopathic medicine to help make the correction.

That is, of course, whether or not we’ve made a direct connection between The Pill and our/our children's individual conditions.

For those whose hormones have definitively gone awry from previous “tinkering,” consider Sepia 200, every third day. Sepia addresses hormonally-related conditions, whether, from The Pill, Depo-Provera shot, or any synthetic reproduction drugs.

It is not advised for girls who have not already been pregnant but more specifically for those who are older or have been pregnant and have been definitively damaged by synthetic hormones.

Of course, homeopathy’s ability in this area, as well as other areas of a young, middle-aged or older woman’s life, is sweeping. This week, we are relaunching my course Feminopathy. It covers women’s issues in great depth. I created a short video to tell you more about the course – click here.

In honor of all the pregnant moms and/or moms of pregnant moms, I have decided to add over a dozen new protocols to the original Feminopathy course!

These protocols will focus on pregnancy, labor, nursing and newborn care.

I’m excited to teach you about homeopathic medicines every pregnant woman should know. Some of these medicines are protective for both mother and child while others address potential problems that may arise.

Pass on the good news of homeopathy!

Warmly,

Joette Calabrese

P.S. By the way, when you ditch those birth control pills, don’t flush them down the toilet or throw them away where they can contaminate water sources. ‘Want to read something really scary? Research has shown the hormones from birth control pills adversely affect fish!

P.P.S. As promised, here are the natural birth control books I found during my cursory search on Amazon:

Natural Family Planning: The Complete Approach  by John and Sheila Kippley

The Billings Method: Controlling Fertility Without Drugs or Devices by Evelyn Billings

Taking Charge of Your Fertility, 20th Anniversary Edition: The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control, Pregnancy Achievement, and Reproductive Health by Toni Weschler

Last but not least, the title that cracked me up (and you know how I love a catchy title): The Sinner's Guide to Natural Family Planning by Simcha Fisher

Joette laughingI am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.

Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.

Homeopathy doesn't "treat" an illness; it addresses the entire person as a matter of wholeness that is an educational process, not a medical one. Thank you for this info!! I have definitely been harmed by years of contraceptive use ?‍♀️ I hope to, in the future, take the Feminopathy course (not in the budget at the moment)— currently suffering with postpartum thyroiditis and nursing woes. Being a woman is hard!

Awesome article! Joette, you nailed it! This is the future of our young girls! How can we help them? What about the bill passed in California: AB 329!

Wow, I sure wish someone had given me this information 20 years ago! Well written, Joette. Thank you!

What would parents do without big government? Just bumble about I guess. California used to be our best state, glowing with optimism, entrepreneurship and plenty. Now the population is draining about as speedy as NY state. ‘Fools for governors, mayors and city councilmembers.

THANK YOU, JOETTE, for addressing issues with the pill! I feel I was lied to by my family doctor when I struggled with amenorrhea in my 20s. He told me the pill was perfectly safe (haha), would not affect my ability to get pregnant later (praise God, I avoided this possible side effect), and would even give me a clear complexion (hmm, he left out the part about it making me an emotional wreck…). I didn’t read up about it but blindly trusted the doctor and took it off and on for a couple years. Now I know that this drug was actually exacerbating my problem— the pill doesn’t magically give you a period; it suppresses ovulation completely, then a cycle of synthetic hormones causes monthly “breakthrough bleeding” which is NOT A NATURAL PERIOD. I am so thankful to God that He healed my hormonal issues with natural means and gave me my cycle back after I ditched the pill. I would have turned to Homeopathy had I known about it back then, and I urge your readers THINK TWICE about synthetic hormones— and don’t just trust your doctor, do your homework! THANK YOU AGAIN FOR THIS ARTICLE!!!

I was on the pill for over ten years. I started taking it because I was advised to by a doctor to help shrink an ovarian cyst. I had no idea it could cause harm. Thank you for this informative article!

Thank the Lord i had the foresight to refuse birth contol when a teen and young adult. Mom tried to get me to say ok. I said flat out no. Why she thought I should go t0 a dr and get it. Periods not normal. She said it would make them normal. I said God didnt make my normal and im not messing with what God gave. Amen! I found over time naturally to eat soy. Fixed it fast. Now many say how bad soy is for anyone. Dont be so fast to think that. Was right for me till after I had a kid at 42. Now I eat it rarely. Before kid daily. I still use sepia. Takes care of meno issues. On Mthis site somewhere i read that.

Love this! Docs sure can spend half an hour telling u WHY u need to b on birth control and do as much convincing as possible until u finally tell them to send it to the pharmacy to b filled(just to get them off ur back) BUT anything else u find important to talk about they’re in too big of a rush and whoosh it out the window.
You have helped me more than I could imagine when doctors left me in a downward dark spiral…. I will forever be grateful!
Sepia has helped me w several things! Sepia mixed w another remedy saved me from having surgery after a big ovarian cyst they claimed would most likely not go away on it’s own bc of the size etc etc and my past w cyst.
Well 3 wks later it had already shrunk in over 1/2 it’s size. They seemed dumbfounded and said it must be the birth control working. ? I. Never. Took. The. BC.? (sometimes better off not saying too much and let them think they know the answer)
Needless to say I haven’t had abdominal pain in months AT ALL after having it for over 5 years!! I just stopped the remedy last wk but I know if I start to feel the pain I will just start it up again until the pain is gone.
Thank u for ALL u do Joette!!

    1. Ilene Popowcer says:

Courtney, Can you tell me what potency you used for Sepia and what the other remedy was that you took with it? Also, how often did you take it? My daughter has an ovarian cyst that is causing a lot of pain and I would love for her to take a remedy for it. Thanks!

id like to know too pls

  11. Sarah says:

Unfortunately, fertility awareness method doesn’t work for me or condoms. I have 4 kids, love them dearly but as I told my husband my body is a little tired now. So unfortunately I will now use a low dose birth control now. Sometimes not all of us have good options other than that

  12. Lena says:

Toni Weschler’s book is the bible of female reproduction. Everyone who has a daughter NEEDS that book.
Synthetic birth control wrecked my life – but I didn’t see its effects until AFTER I came off the pill.
I have always been healthy, strong, athletic. I had heavy periods as a teenager that brought some edema and very mild body aches, but nothing that hindered me from continuing to be highly competitive in sports even on my days of heaviest bleeding. Fast forward to my college days. My first boyfriend and I moved in together and I cluelessly began to use the Pill. I lived in Britain where glorious socialized medicine made it completely free for me to unwittingly poison myself. Why worry about a thing when the Nanny State knows what’s best for you and your family? I have learned to have unspeakable disgust for socialized medicine. It could be considered the ultimate hoodwinking of a population. I only took the Pill for 4 – 5 years. I had no problems while taking it, except perhaps some mood regulation issues (but that also could have been just a result of feeling trapped in an emotionally manipulative relationship). But when I stopped taking the Pill – that’s when the bill for what I had done to my body came due. I began to experience unbearable bloating during my period. Not to worry, I could suppress that symptom with Midol. I couldn’t exercise while on my period, but I could stay in a moderately functional drug haze by popping the Midol. That worked for a year or two, with increasing fatigue that followed me all month. I’m sure I was gradually accruing toxins and burdening my liver from the slow digestion occurring during my period that I had masked with Midol. When I stopped using the Midol after finally learning that even over the counter drugs are somewhat toxic, that was when I got to see what bad shape my gut was actually in. I found that when I began to bleed heavily, peristalsis would actually halt. Whatever food was in my GI tract would just sit in one place and ferment. Laxatives did nothing to move my bowels because my gut was completely shut down. There was no movement to stimulate. I hit a crisis point where every period put me in bed for three days, writhing and screaming in unbearable intestinal pain, unable to consume so much as a sip of water for three days. This would be accompanied by unproductive vomiting with dizziness and pain so severe I came within an inch of calling for an ambulance several times. This is the Pill in action, folks. This is what we risk doing to our daughters if we’re not willing to stand between them and big pharma.
I am gradually making progress with homeopathy. I have used Helios’s Poly Birth Control remedy to help “detox” the pill, and constitutionally matched myself with Nat mur and China. It is a slow, hard road of small wins. I could go to a gynecologist tomorrow and resume the Pill and probably find faster “relief” of symptoms, but at what long term cost? I already have proof beyond a doubt that synthetic hormones throw my whole system out of wack. So I will never go that route again. I want true health from the inside out. I want these symptoms uprooted. That means the painstaking process of detoxing drugs and restoring my health with homeopathy. And quite frankly, it ain’t for the faint of heart. I am 100% committed to a drug free life, and even for me, there are days when the price I have to pay for this way of life feels almost too much to bear. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I don’t want another woman to have to walk the difficult road that I am on. Just say no to the Pill! Allopathic doctors sing up and down that the Pill is a completely risk free drug, that nothing could be safer, that there is no reason to think twice about popping it for the rest of your life. They tout it as a completely benign drug. It is not benign. It has risks. You might not experience those risks until you have been on it for many years, or until you try to get pregnant, or until you come off the synthetic hormones.
Please, please help us spread the message far and wide: It is not safe to blindly take hormonal birth control.
I have not yet taken any of Joette’s courses, so I can’t speak to the effectiveness of her protocols for restoring the system post birth control. I am considering both her Feminopathy course and Good Gut, Bad Gut but I’m not sure where to start. If my progress continues to be slow, I may look to one of her courses in the hopes of speeding up the healing.
