Violet was facing a dilemma.
She had dandruff.
Not much of a problem, you say?
Well, in her case it was. Violet has owned a beauty salon for 20 years. She fashioned herself an expert on every skin and hair product on the market.
The anti-aging creams, acne gels, hair lighteners, hair dyes, dandruff shampoos: she had tried and applied them all.
Yet over the years, her skin grew dry, and she had an increasingly itchy scalp, complete with embarrassing white flakes. (more…)
The Connors' third child, Michael, is chubby, robust and with clear skin except for one little problem. He has a history of convulsions nearly every time he falls asleep. No one on either side of the family had neurological issues or seizure disorders. The parents were understandably distraught.
Mother Caroline was doing everything she could to be a good mother. She provided nutrient-dense meals including raw milk and homemade fermented vegetables. She had been studying homeopathy and using it wherever she could since her first baby was born. For the Connors family, it was a no-brainer to integrate the best of both modalities. But this problem was beyond her abilities.
So, Caroline set up an appointment with the family homeopath, and their first step was to compile a timeline to reconstruct what had happened in Michael’s short life, including procedures and drugs that might have been used. (more…)
With Ebola and Enterovirus continuing to dominate news stories, contagious disease and the potential for global pandemics are a source of anxiety and worry for many.
I find myself reminiscing about my visits to Calcutta, India, to study with the homeopaths at the Prasanta Banerji Homeopathic Research Foundation Clinic. At the top of this blog, I’ve posted a photo I took while I was in India. The crowds of people milling around that public square are typical of practically everywhere I visited in that great city. The story of antibiotics makes me sad sometimes. When penicillin was introduced in the 1940s, the medical community had such high hopes for the new “miracle drug.”
They thought they had found the answer to human illness.
In fact, this one discovery pretty much launched the pharmaceutical industry, which became dedicated to the development of even more drugs and who set out to deliberately alter the entire paradigm of Western medicine into the “there’s the symptom; here’s the drug” attitude we see today.
Little did those first researchers know what they were allowing to run riot on humanity! (more…)
Pollution is a problem. Foods contain pesticides. GMOs are everywhere. Formaldehyde is coated on our clothing and flame retardants on our mattresses. And then there are the oil spills.
We’re doomed. Right?
Yet consider a different take on pollution, one that may be much more important than external pollution. It might be the most vicious, most long-lasting, devastating pollution.
One that takes a more evident toll on health than GMOs and pesticides.
Interestingly, we not only willingly accept this kind of pollution, we even agree to it. (more…)
According to the American Diabetes Association, 13 million men in the United States have low testosterone levels, and among those men, 70 percent report experiencing erectile dysfunction, and 63 percent experience low sex drive. That’s a lot of unhappy men!
Such a delicate subject requires fine medicine. And as always, instead of merely treating the symptoms, homeopathy gets to the root of the problem.
My father calls the locale of these problems “ground zero.” Modern medicine discusses male health in terms of prostate hormone numbers and libido. Homeopathy likes to get a little more personal. (more…)
Prince Harry's vitality may be the direct result of the medical decisions his family has made for generations.
Prince Charles made news in the UK in early May because of his support of homeopathy. The prince had a private meeting with UK Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt to lobby for National Health Service funding for alternative medicines, including homeopathy.
Opponents of alternative medicine had urged the prince to stay out of the debate and were aggravated by his continual attempts to influence Hunt, who shares the prince’s appreciation for alternative medicines.
But the prince has strong opinions on the subject. Both he and his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, are strong proponents of homeopathy and have attributed their good health to its use. In fact, the queen is patron of the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital. (Yes, they still have homeopathic hospitals in England!) (more…)
