The Robins Are Back: Are Your Allergies, Too?

robin

After such a long winter, I love that the robins have come back to my front yard. It’s only been a few weeks since they’ve arrived.

Their presence used to usher in the worst of my allergies. But not anymore!

I suffered from allergies

As a young woman, I suffered from allergies so debilitating that they kept me secluded indoors and sensitive to the world outside my door.

The more visits I made to the allergists; the more drugs I took; the worse I felt. I began to realize that it was best to avoid the allergist, not the allergens.

If you had told me years ago that I would someday no longer suffer from this, I would have told you that you were crazy. Until I was cured after consulting with a homeopath. Did you hear me? CURED!

Homeopathy looks at the entire person with the totality of their symptoms and offers an intelligent medicine that gets to the root of health problems in a reproducible way.

This means that not only were my allergy symptoms resolved but my migraines were too. And I’ve witnessed the same in countless others.

You can see why it’s now my mission to spread the word to everyone.

Top Allergy Remedies

I’ve included a list of the topmost likely remedies to aid in springtime allergies. There are more and others for food allergies as well, but it's best to consult with a qualified homeopath should you need to go further.

One of the following remedies can be chosen that most closely aligns with the predominant symptoms.

The usual method is one dose three times a day for two days or so. Once improvement sets in, it’s always best to stop for a while and resume if the symptoms do. Read each of the following remedies before choosing.

Sabadilla 30

This is my all-time favorite remedy for sinus and especially nose symptoms. It will likely help in other areas as well, but if the nose is affected, this is probably a good choice.

There may be much discharge, but it does not burn. However, the nose may be itchy with frequent sneezing. Being outdoors in the open air actually improves the symptoms. If no other remedy seems to fit your symptoms well, start with Sabadilla.

Allium cepa 30

This remedy is made from the onion, and its origins can help us remember its confirmatory symptoms. Just as cutting an onion makes your eyes and nose burn and water, so, this remedy can be used for copious burning discharge.

Wyethia 30

Plagued with a peculiar sensation of a tickle in the back of the throat or nose? The sufferer is tormented by this intense itching that can’t be reached. Additionally, the nose and throat usually feel dry and scratchy in contrast to the constant dripping of Sabadilla.

Cod Liver Oil and Sunshine

Vitamin D is an important factor when dealing with allergies. I’m not a proponent of taking vitamins because I don’t trust the synthetic versions, and the natural ones have been too often tinkered with. Getting your vitamins via superfoods and the sun is the way nature intended.

So, no to synthetic vitamin D, and yes to cod liver oil and sunbathing.

Homeopathy offers no side effects, is inexpensive and effective and, the best part is that it offers health autonomy.

Learn to do it yourself.

The sense of well-being and accomplishment is unmatched.

If you have allergies, remember that modern medicine has written you off. The CDC itself will tell you: “There is no cure for allergies. Strict avoidance of the allergen is the only way to prevent a reaction.” I lived decades living in a bubble, dealing with my allergies. Things improved when I stopped taking prescription drugs and changed my diet, but I was not cured.

So, I kept searching until I found the thing that changed my life forever: homeopathy. Want to learn the same homeopathic steps I took to clear myself of allergies?

Learn them today with my newest course, Allergic?! Escape Allergies, Sensitivities, and Intolerances, with Homeopathy. Practical Protocols to Get Your Life Back:

Joette laughingI am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.

Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.

  1. Lorna says:

Thanks Joette! I look forward to passing on these remedy recommendations to my family members who suffer from allergies…

  2. Sue DiBianca says:

I am taking Sabadilla for my nasal allergies, and it is working great, but sometimes my eyes get itchy from allergies, too. Will the Sabadilla eventually help stop the itchy eyes or do I need to take something else for that?

    1. for severe itchy eyes, many find relief from argentum nitricum 30 twice daily.

  3. i have found that when i continue with a remedy, it often kicks into gear over a period of months however, its also good to remember that if results follow, to stop at that point. only use the remedy when the symptoms call out to you. each time this happens, its an opportunity to go deeper with the remedy. if the results are unsatisfactory, contact a good homeopath to go deeper.

  4. mamaverse says:

I have heard Euphrasia recommended for allergies in which the eyes are most affected and are very red, watery and burning. Would you second this recommendation?

    Thanks!

    1. yes i agree and i also like argentum nitricum 6 or 30 twice daily.

      Happy spring!

  5. Marla says:

Every time I step outside to enjoy this beautiful spring weather we’ve been having, I’m ecstatic that my eyes no longer water, my nose doesn’t run, and my throat doesn’t itch. I use to hide inside every spring, but the wind and the pollen haven’t bothered me at all this year -thanks to you, Joette, and a nutrient dense diet.

    1. Ton says:

Nutrient dense diet and which remedies did Joette suggest for Pollen?

  6. kelly says:

I am kind of a novice to homeopathy, and had recommended a homeopathic formula for tree pollen. (this company makes one for grass, and hayfever as well) i know some homeopaths don’t like formula remedies. Would you be willing to share your opinion on this? Thanks..

  7. Kim says:

Where can I buy these remedies? Is there a trustworthy vendor online?
Also, is it OK to take 2 or 3 of these remedies at the same time, or is it best to take one kind at a time?

    1. Hi Kim, you may purchase from Johnson’s Village Pharmacy 716.753.3200 if you want to order one at a time. but if you’re interested in a kit (which to be honest, is a bargain in the long run) you may call my office at 716.941.1045 and we’ll send the kit to you in a jiffy. ask for Jill or Diane.

And yes, 2-3 remedies may be taken on the same day, but not at the same moment. separate them by about 30 mintes.

  8. Andrea says:

I love Spring but my allergies are horrible. I’m missing out on fun outside time and having my windows open, which makes me sad 🙁

I am interested in getting the Sabadilla right away but wanted to ask – is it safe for nursing?

    Thank you!

  9. Erin says:

    Hi Joette,

I have the constant sneezing plus itchy eyes and throat. I have been eating a traditional diet for about 6 years and supplement with raw local honey. This year has been my best year so far but today was especially bad. The sneezing with itchy eyes and throat. Can we combine two of these?

    1. yes, most folks who do it use a low potency, such as 6, 12 or 30.

  10. Mary Scholer says:

I am having the worst allergic response ever. I have used homeopathy for close to 30 years but don’t know which remedy will work best. My most bothersome response is itchy eyes (like many mosquito bites). I get most releif if can drive an hour to the ocean. runny nose, sneezing, itchy nose, throat, ears and skin plus lots of sneezing. Still the worst of all is the eys. I wonder which remedy to choose. When allergy tested I always score 4+ on every grass tested (seems to be my biggest issue). Any ideas out there for a remedy?

    1. Shana Tova says:

Try going off of all GMO’s –not even trace amounts, ever.
Grasses are “grains”, and the major grains in most of the food out there is GMO corn, and we now know that our wheat has likely been illegally polluted for at least the last decade as well.
If the grasses are now something that they were *never designed to become, it could be that eliminating internal exposure to *all grains for a time (a GMO allergen could look suspiciously like other grains / grasses to our immune system) could reduce sensitivity to external exposures.

  11. Sue Klinck says:

What about using histaminum HCL? That seems to work well for both myself and my animals. is there some reason you do not recommend that remedy?

    1. i’ve not made it a practice to use Histaminum, but i see no reason to avoid it. i’m assuming it’s potentized, right?

      1. Sue Klinck says:

Absolutely, or I would not be getting the positive “curative” responses I do, from one single dosing.

  12. Beth says:

Thanks for the info, I plan to pass it along to my husband and anyone else who complains about allergies.

What about allergic reactions to cats? My husband feels better when he isn’t around cats, but is in frequent contact w/ them. He does not react strongly.

    1. i’d love to tell you that this kind of allergy can be addressed with the above remedies, but the only way i know how to deal with such is to meet with a good homeopath. however, when you’re done, he’ll likely be done.

    2. barb says:

I use to be that way with cats the secret is to give the cat a bath once a week for a month then once every 2 weeks for a month then once a month I did this and I stopped having the allergy from cats now I can be around them all the time its the dandruff that he cant handle but over time he can adjust to it you may have to give it a bath once a month for awhile but stop and see how your husband does then it works everytime

  13. Jody Cursio says:

I’ve been prescrived 4 rounds of antibiotics and nasonex for sinus infections since February and my md and she says allergies are at the root of it. I don’t have typical sneezy, runny nose symptoms, almost the opposite. I do saline nasal rinses, but should I try Wyethia or something else?

  14. its certainly worth a try but if it doesn’t do the trick, its best to meet with a good homeopath to get to the underlying issue.

    good luck

  15. Ava says:

Constant sinus infections may be the result of candida overgrowth. You can easily check for that with a live blood cell analysis done by some chiropractors and ?.

  16. Seasonal allergies have hit with a vengeance starting today!! Sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, itchy scalp, and constantly stuffed up. The only thing that has ever helped has been Walitin from Walgreens. Will your kit help? I hope so. I hate taking the drugs!

  17. Jennifer Egbert says:

Joette, can homeopathy be used in infants? I’m assuming yes, but is the dosage the same? My 6 week old has horrible thick drainage and it’s causing her to choke on it and cough so much she loses what is in her stomach. Any thoughts? No congestion and cough is only triggered when you hear the drainage build up.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

THe outside of the bottle will provide the information on how many pills make for a dose for infants and children.

  18. Lea says:

Do you have a particular brand of cod liver oil you would recommend?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I like Radiant Life’s desiccated liver and Rosita cod liver oil.

      1. Mick says:

Joette, do you have an opinion on the Blue Ice fermented cod liver oil/high vitamin butter oil blend that is also carried by Radiant Life?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Yes. I threw out an unused case of it about 5 years ago when one of my sons was getting stomach problems every time he took it and I experienced burning in my throat every time I swallowed it.

Dr. Kaayla Daniel’s research verified it for me.

          1. Mick says:

            Thanks!

  19. Mary Herman says:

You didn’t mention post-nasal …mine is always down the throat and burning, always hacking it up. I usually grab Kali Bich because it’s thick. Mold from the window unit is the worst for my allergies! Would Sabadilla 30 be a better choice?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

You might want to do a little more reading on each of these medicines in a materia medica on line because it depends on what corresponds to that symptom.

  20. Katie says:

What do you think of Boiron’s combination remedies? It seems like it kind of goes against the Classical Homeopathy perspective of carefully selecting a single remedy and trying four doses before trying others. But I’ve tried several of the single remedies and my allergies seem worse, if anything. It seems like the Boiron might be a good choice because it takes the guessing out of it.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I no longer use the one- medicine- fits -the- whole- picture paradigm for the past many years. Boiron’s combos are wonderful and if you follow my Facebook Live on Mondays at 8PM EST, I’ll be discussing this very subject next Mon.9/9/19. If you miss it live, you may watch it at any time. I teach and use this more practical method in my practice. What Boiron is making clear is that by using more than one homeopathic medicine simultaneously it provides an excellent way to get expedient and accurate results that anyone can apply. For me, that is one of the most important aspects of homeopathy…that it be available to all because of its simple and practical application. Classical is antithetical to that end.

  21. Katie says:

How long can you take a remedy for allergies? I’ve been doing Sabadilla for about a week — symptoms are better but still present when I take it, but seem to be worse when I go a while without taking any. I’m concerned about taking it for an extended period of time though. Should I expect my symptoms to be completely gone?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Without taking your case, I can’t say how long you should take a medicine. If you’re a student of my course, Allergic!, I urge you to look closely at the cases I present, since they differ depending on circumstances. If you’re not a student you might want to consider downloading that course. Generally, it’s not just about what remedy to use for what when it comes to chronic conditions but rather what to watch for that will offer indications of the medicine’s action and knowing when to move on.

  22. TAMMY says:

Is it safe to use these medicines during pregnancy? My daughter has dreadful allergies to grasses, and has hay fever symptoms – itchy watery eyes, itchy throat, runny and congested nose, often nose bleeds. is it safe to use argentum nitricum 6 or 30 twice daily, allium and wyethia throughout preganancy, beginning in 1st trimester?

  23. Devin says:

I would love some guidance and your thoughts regarding cod liver to help increase vit D! My vitamin D level labs came back very low. Apparently, my outdoor sun exposure and foods are not cutting it. I choose not to take synthetic vitamins. I see you mention about purchasing cod liver oil. Do you still feel as strongly about the oil helping raise vit D levels as you did when writing this article? If so, specifically the Rosita brand?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, PHom M says:

I like Rosita Brand should it be necessary but l question the validity of Vitamin D tests. If there’s something wrong use the symptoms and choose a homeopathic instead of vitamin tests to determine your next step.
