We women know our bodies. We know when something is not quite right, especially in our reproductive areas.
In general, our bodies miraculously thrive on a balance of microorganisms, both good and bad bacteria. I’ve devoted much of my teaching to the resolution of imbalances in the gut. However, our actions can easily disrupt this natural balance in our reproductive region as well.
When the bad bacteria overwhelm the good bacteria, we may find ourselves suffering from bacterial vaginosis (BV).
BV is quite different from vaginal candidiasis (commonly referred to as a yeast infection, which I have discussed previously in my article, Vaginal Yeast Gone with Homeopathy). While a medical diagnosis is desirable, most women who have experienced candidiasis can easily tell that bacterial vaginosis is different. The burning and itching may be similar, but an overgrowth of bacteria (unlike an overgrowth of yeast) will result in a very strong, unpleasant odor sometimes accompanied with gray or green discharge — a different color and consistency than yeast overgrowth. BV can also present with a fever.
So, what creates this imbalance in our bacterial community?
Sexual habits can be a contributing factor. But often, improper use of highly advertised feminine hygiene products can be the culprit.
Listen, ladies, our bodies don’t require Proctor and Gamble!
The vagina is self-cleaning. Douching or utilizing perfumed tampons or sprays are unnecessary and can be downright damaging to the delicate feminine ecosystem. Don’t be influenced by glossy advertising. Natural external cleansing with a bar of mild soap — or better yet, no soap at all — will suffice to maintain a healthy, pleasant environment.
But as we know, even “the best-laid plans” can go awry at times. When that happens, if conventional medicine had its way, you’d be given an antibiotic! Seriously? What sense does that make, considering the use of an antibiotic virtually assures an ensuing yeast infection?
Why trade one condition for another?
Homeopathy is available to help address bacterial vaginosis naturally and politely — without the risk of side effects.
The Banerji Protocol generally used for BV is Hepar sulph 200, twice daily, and Arsenicum album 200, twice daily (taken separately, not mixed together).
When very much better, we halt the use of the medicine. If the condition returns, the method is taken up again.
The body’s natural balance can be restored simply and effectively with homeopathy. What can be better than that?
In my course, Feminopathy: How You Can Correct Female Ailments Using Safe, Inexpensive and Effective Homeopathy, I teach a great many protocols targeted specifically to women. The protocols contained in this course and the knowledge of their use should be a part of your homeopathy library. As much as I plan to be, I know I won’t be around forever, so I want to pass the torch onto you!
Pass on the good news of homeopathy — especially to your women friends who may be suffering in silence.
Warmly,
P.S. While I’m on the topic of the perils of antibiotics, let me remind you of my course, The Antibiotic Alternative: Balance Your Bugs Without the Drugs. Don’t fall prey to a recommended misuse of antibiotics, when there are homeopathic protocols designed to work with your body to create balance without side effects. Learn the protocols. Own the medicines. Protect your family’s health.
P.P.S. There are only a few weeks left before Christmas. If you are struggling to think of a gift for a loved one — especially one that can arrive before the big day — consider giving a gift card good to purchase homeopathic education!
Just head to The Learning Center and click on “Gift Cards.” Then, pick out the appropriate dollar amount and select an applicable photo to personalize the card.
On your chosen date, my team will send an email to your recipient with all the information they’ll need to finalize their course choice (perhaps they’ll choose Feminopathy or The Antibiotic Alternative), pay with the gift card and register themselves as a student!
Could there be a more meaningful, practical and loving gift than the gift of homeopathy?
I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.
Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.
Joette is not a physician and the relationship between Joette and her clients is not of prescriber and patient, but as educator and client. It is fully the client's choice whether or not to take advantage of the information Joette presents. Homeopathy doesn't "treat" an illness; it addresses the entire person as a matter of wholeness that is an educational process, not a medical one. Joette believes that the advice and diagnosis of a physician is often in order.

Re disrupting issues in the vulva; I was diagnosed with lichen sclerosis. I was prescribed to use triamcinolone topical oinment 2x a week. It’s a seroid cream; when I asked when I could stop using it, but was told, never… Is there a homeopathic remedy that could help this condition, so I can reduse use of this steroid ointment?
I cover this condition in my online course Feminopathy https://courses.joettecalabrese.com/.
Thank you so much, Joette; your timing is impeccable! Been searching online for a protocol for this very diagnosis and I must have looked in the wrong place in the Banerji as well book because I didn’t see it there. I’ve taken the “CDC recommended” antibiotic Flgyl for this three times (before becoming enlightened recently to homeopathy) and it just comes right back. The antibiotic is an awful, uncomfortable experience in and of itself. Thank you very much.
I am a Women’s Health NP and this is such useful advice! Your approach to vaginal health is spot on! because I have only worked in conventional settings, I have sadly had to prescribe antibiotics for BV, but I always go over these same hygiene principles in order to avoid recurrence of the problem, and now I’ll whisper the homeopathic advice. Also, I find that cod liver oil supplements (natural CLO like Green Pasture sells) have helped several women avoid recurrence.
Hi Joette, I was just diagnosed with both conditions after miscarrying a few months ago. Last month, I tested positive for BV, and I used Hepar Sulph 200c twice daily. I went back to re test this month, and now tested positive for BV and yeast. I’m frustrated as my symptoms are extremely mild or even nonexistent some days. I have taken your classes and know the first line protocols for both. Should I treat at the same time?
I can’t give you personal advice but it’s not uncommon to use more than one protocol.
If you haven’t done so I hope you’ll join one of my online study groups, Gateway to Homeopathy, and carry on to more in-depth courses so that you have even more freedom.
Yes, I’ve taken both Gateway courses and have a great group! I just didn’t know if using the Arsenicum for BV would be disruptive to the yeast infection protocol because it’s not the remedy I’d choose for yeast (I’m using merc sol).
Would this Banerji Protocol, Hepar sulph 200, twice daily, and Arsenicum album 200, twice daily uproot or minimize Lichen Sclerosis? Have tried many different homeopathic medicines. That I can find you have not addressed this issue or maybe at some point you will. I can not begin to tell you what a different you have made in my life and my husband’s life. You are a blessing.
Hi Joette, I am wondering if there is a Banerji protocol for pre-eclampsia in pregnancy and if you have it in any of your courses like Feminopathy.
I believe that it’s covered in Feminopathy, but I can’t be certain.
Hi Joette, nice to see you revisit this issue and more than one way to address this. I used Kresosotum twice daily with Sepia as you had suggested in previous post and worked incredibly well. Thanks so much for all your teachings….has taken my level of knowledge of homeopathy to whole new level. You are a beautiful and generous gift to us! Many thanks and most grateful!
Joette I can’t express how much I appreciate your addressing the problem of BV. I resorted to antibiotics a couple of years ago, but the relief only lasted a couple of weeks. I couldn’t find the protocol in my Banerji book, but I am definitely going to write it in! I have had temporary relief with other homeopathic remedies, and found for myself, EndoMune Adult Probiotic with Prebiotic helped a lot in feeling relief. I don’t know if it is because I have autoimmune diseases that my body doesn’t have the beneficial bacteria that is required for a healthy gut & healthy vagina or if it’s just related to not eating healthy. I have already started on Hepar Sulph 200 & Arsenicum Album 200 since receiving your email on BV and will continue for awhile hoping for balance of good and bad bacteria. At 76 years old I really feel this is the vagina ph being out of balance causing overgrowth of bad bacteria. I also did a course of Kroeger Herb Candida formula #1 & #2 which helped, they also have a good probiotic to follow up with. I find herbs to be very beneficial, but my go to favorite is Homeopathic Remedies, I did find the comment on Cod Liver Oil very interesting and would like to look into that. I always direct other interested ones to your site!
Used this with good results! Had to go back for a check up unrelated to this and they found nothing. I did find myself needing it again about a month later for only a few days, maybe a week. All is well since.
I was taking them mixed together though, glad to know it still worked but making note of the article for future reference!
Thanks Joette
Pls spread the word and if you haven’t already joined one of my Gateway to Homeopathy Study Groups, consider joining. If you have already done so, join another one and stay connected to these like-minded people.
And ‘happy to hear.
Hi Joette! So I took your feminopathy course and learned alot of great protocol’s; however, the basic uti protocol did not act for me as I had hoped. I have the Banerji’s book and looked up their second and third lines. I did not get relief so I am on an antibiotic. I just wanted to ask if Arsenicum Album has ever been useful in your experience treating uti’s? I tried it as a last resort (and because it fit my anxiety as well as “pain relieved by warmth”) and it seems to have helped more than anything I’ve tried thus far. Arsenicum is not a remedy you often see listed in uti protocols so I was wondering if it could be useful depending on the case? Thank you!!
The way to know if a medicine covers a specific condition is to read up on it in your materia medica.
But to answer your question, most certainly Arsenicum is a wonderful remedy for UTI’s (as long as the symptoms match).
What shout when the good bacteria overrun? Have you heard of cytolytic vaginosis? Wondering if there is a protocol for it. Thanks!
Vaginosis is vaginosis is vaginosis. No matter the specific micro organism.
Thank you!!
would that protocol also work for systemic candida? or is it specifically helpful for vaginosis only?
Its organ specific but let me suggest that systemic candida is often a rabbit hole. In homeopathy, instead of pinning symptoms on a specific microorganism, we use the symptoms that present as an indicator of the remedy choice.
As the protocol for BV, my Banerji book shows Hepar sulph 200 + Ars Alb. 200. As you know, “+” means mixed together. But your blog says separately not mixed so I’m confused there. Also, the book seems to indicate using Medorrhinum 200 2D in addition to the 2 mixed remedies. I’m trying to help a friend with BV and don’t’ wanna screw it up because I want her to be a believer in homeopathy! Can you clarify these 2 discrepancies? Thanks.
There are different ways to approach some of these protocols so you have a choice. Additional medicines that the “Banerji Protocols” includes can also be considered.
I’d read up on each of the medicines in your Materia Medica to make the best choice.
Can this treatment be used while pregnant?
If a person has battled vaginosis for years and has given into antibiotics due to pregnancies and preterm labor. Im assuming that when vaginosis rears its head next time this protocol isn’t something that’s gonna be taken care of in 2 weeks.. but could take longer??
