Exquisite Tooth Pain

We often take our teeth for granted. They help us eat. They help us speak. They help maintain facial and intracranial structures that even affect the alignment of our neck and spine.

However, when a tooth hurts … yee-owh! There often is no pain like tooth pain. It’s like having a little jackhammer in your mouth — a relentless jackhammer.

Most people think of Hypericum perforatum for toothaches. And rightfully so, if nerve damage is involved. Indeed, Hypericum has been shown to be effective for nerve pain, which is often a contributing factor to toothache.

Pulsatilla nigricans is another medicine generally considered, particularly when the pain is triggered by hot food or drink.

But there is another medicine to consider if the pain is pretty severe. (I’m talking exquisite tooth pain.) If nothing else has helped and cold brings a little comfort, then Coffea cruda 200, twice daily until very much better, has been observed to act.

Now, I’ve talked about Coffea in previous blog posts for racing hearts from too much chocolate, severe itching that causes wakefulness at night, insomnia, anxiety and even fainting from joy. But dental pain is another reason to ensure Coffea cruda is poised and ready in your homeopathy kit.

I’m not promising that Coffea will necessarily act on pain like morphine. But in my experience, when employing this medicine, sufferers have achieved enough improvement to make life bearable again. Indeed, sometimes a slight improvement in the pain is all that’s needed until the underlying condition is fully addressed.

Interestingly, many of my clients suffering from toothache have reported that absolutely nothing improves the pain. So, I ask a more precise question, “What are you doing for it?”

Often, that’s when they’ll explain, “Well, this doesn’t necessarily make it stop hurting completely, but I just find myself drinking cold water or holding an ice pack against my jaw.”

Ah-ha!

While they might not label this behavior as providing relief, they are listening to their body’s instincts, and that’s an important indication for the Practical Homeopath™ when choosing a medicine.

Let me give you another example: abdominal pain. Some clients can’t stand any pressure against their stomachs. They may even resort to wearing only dresses so that a waistband doesn’t press against them. However, conversely, some clients are doubled over with their arms squeezed against their stomachs, keeping pressure on the gut!

Neither of these groups of sufferers would claim their behavior is ameliorative. They simply find themselves doing it!

These unconscious behaviors are the body’s innate indications that help point to the correct medicines.

So, keep this in mind as you observe yourself or your loved ones. As you know, in homeopathy, observation is a critical part of choosing what medicine to use, how long to use it for, and when to halt.

Either way, once logged in, scroll down to the section “Additional Sources of Homeopathic Information.” You’ll find “Teeth Worthy Tips” close to the top of the list.

Browse around while you’re there. I’ve curated a great many articles from other sources on homeopathic research, specific diseases, the worldwide practice of homeopathy, my course infographics and so much more. I even included an archive of all 94 of my daily “At Home with Homeopathy Tips” from the 2020 shutdown when many of my readers were stuck at home.

I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.

Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.
