The decorative skeletons I've been seeing everywhere got me thinking … what better time than now to talk about our bones?
Wouldn’t it be great if, like those Halloween decorations, we could actually see our skeletons to determine our bone health?
We can’t exactly squeeze our arms and feel brittle bones, right? And waiting around to see if a bone breaks doesn’t sound very effective.
Yes, yes. I know we can see our bones through x-rays, and we can certainly undergo bone density tests.
But do those tests really show us the entire picture? I’ve long wondered about the accuracy of bone density scans and recently ran across some research in support of this skepticism.
That research, through two studies, determined that body size — meaning your height and weight — can skew the results of bone density tests.
Put more simply, the bone density tests of petite women may show they have lower bone density than they actually do!
These are theories.
And you know how it is with theories: There are those that indicate inaccuracy in bone density testing and still others that contradict them.
But, in light of these conflicting theories, I propose that we need to err on the side of caution — take a second (or third) look at the tests themselves and the accuracy of the conclusions drawn from them.
The rationale behind a bone density scan is that one can observe how thick the inner workings of the bone is.
But, I wonder if there is more to it? The human body is infinitely more complex and sophisticated than what is sometimes assumed.
I like to compare the perceived accuracy of bone density scans to the outward appearance of different styles of bridges. Just because a bridge may not appear to be strong, does not necessarily mean that it’s weak.
Think about stone bridges that were built before the turn of the last century and the modern, more spindle-like ones that we build today.
The thin, sinuous ones are just as safe and sturdy as the bulky, thick ones. The components of the bridge may look different, but the effective functionality is still there — a safe and supportive structure.
And so it may be with our bones.
I’m not saying that bone density tests are of no value. But, in light of studies that now imply inaccuracy, particularly depending on body type, I’d like to keep an open mind.
If we can’t be 100% positive about the accuracy of bone density testing, then what should we do?
Super simple. Nutrient-dense meals. I’ve shared the recipe for my No-Nonsense Bone Broth in a previous blog. If you missed it before, click here.
In addition to nutrition, we can also take care of our bones with homeopathy — of course!
It bears repeating that Calc phos 6 (Calcarea phosphorica) is the premier remedy for improving bone density. While homeopathic remedies are not supplements, Calc phos 6 can be taken to increase the strength of bones when they’re weak.
If there is truly a pathology — say, breaking bones too frequently or easily — Symphytum 200 may also be added to the schedule.
But again, Symphytum 200 is used only if there is a true pathology.
We ALL need to take care of our bones every day … That way, we won’t need to depend on the accuracy of assessment tools or bone density tests. We’ll already be one step ahead!
If you would like to learn more about bone density, osteoporosis, and other issues that affect women, I invite you to consider my course, Feminopathy.
Meanwhile, get cooking, keep your pot full of bones, and smile at the seasonal skeletons — knowing you’ve been taking care of your bones all year!
I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.
Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.
Joette is not a physician and the relationship between Joette and her clients is not of prescriber and patient, but as educator and client. It is fully the client's choice whether or not to take advantage of the information Joette presents. Homeopathy doesn't "treat" an illness; it addresses the entire person as a matter of wholeness that is an educational process, not a medical one. Joette believes that the advice and diagnosis of a physician is often in order.

This sounds like a good way to improve the quality of forming teeth in children/teens as well. Or would there be a more specific remedy for teeth?
Yes it is.
Thanks for a good article, Joette 🙂
Would Calc phos 6 be the best choice for remineralizing teeth as well? (in regards to healing cavities and just making teeth healthier and stronger in general)
Thank you!
Kind regards
Sabine
yes.
Well, if we don’t know that they are weak, can we just take the calc phos 6 anyway? Or should we see some sign such as in the tooth enamel not lookin so good? Or when ladies get that hump on the neck?
It best to use homeopathy when there is a pathology already presenting.
My interest in the Banerji Protocols has led me to your site. And although my family has used homeopathy for years, finding this website had been a godsend in providing greater clarity for successfully using the remedies. Most recently for a throat infection.
A question. I was planning on using Symphytum 200c after dental implant surgery. However, after reading this article, I am now uncertain this choice will be helpful. Should I search for a different option?
Any time there’s injury to the bone, Symphytum 200 is my 1st thought. An implant is an injury.
The hyperlink for Calc Phos 6 errorenously goes to Calc Phos 30c. So, the question remains: is the potency for bone density 6x or 6c?
6x is my 1st choice but in many parts of the world it cannot be found, which is why I usually don’t include that information here.
Dear Jolette
I can not find 6x and and can’t 6 c – but I can get 4c or 7c. would any of them work?
i read you post further down…4c thank you
How often to take calc Phos 6? 3x a day?also with symphytum 200 would lots of cavities present as part of the pathology?
Cavities could certainly be a part of the pathology as an indicator.
What about an area of the mouth which has receding gums to the point of an exposed root of a tooth? Would Symphytum be indicated for that as well as the Calc Phos 6?
When you’re looking for a protocol for a condition, google my name and the name of the condition. Start here https://joettecalabrese.com/blog/whats-a-gingiva-and-how-does-it-get-itis/
How much and for how long would you take calc phos
Until very much better. So if there are symptoms, until they resolve.
I had been taking Symphytum 200 with Cal Ph 6x (cell salt) for osteoporosis. After I fractured a toe, I saw the Banerji book recommends Cal ph 3x, which I ordered and have been taking . But because if the fracture being slow to heal, I am also taking cal phos 6x and cal Fluor 6x. Should I be taking the 3x, the 5x in the cell salt, or both st separate times?
We don’t use the same medicine in different potencies in hopes of covering our bases. Choose the potency and stay with that alone.
I usually refer to 6x on my blog becuase 3x is not readily available in most of the U.S. and other areas of the world. If 3x is available, I use that instead. For my students and clients who may avail OHM Pharmacy, it works out well. For those who don’t have access, 6x is readily found.
Hi Judy, how long are you taking this protocol for OP? before you fractured? I have not fractured but wanted to start the protocol and it looks like I would just take Calc 3x or 6x without the Symphytum?
I am so happy I came across this article! Thank you! Do you follow the instructions on the bottle for how many times a day you take it or is there another suggestion to follow for frequency?
When it comes to these particular medicines, the directions on the bottle are a good place to start.
I’m interested in using many of your protocols and remedies, however, I was told by someone that their homeopath told them that homeopathy and acupuncture must not be used together, as they would cancel each other out, or lessen each other’s effect. What is your opinion?
That is not my experience. Having said this, the problem with using 2 paradigms simultaneously is that it makes it unclear which one is acting and this needs to be known.
just diagnosed with osteoporosis in hip and spine. refuse to take awful drugs dr wants me to take so looking ay homeopathy. what would you recommend what dosage and how long to take it for
Thank you for the valuable info, Joette. My mom and dad both have low calcium as per their blood work and low bone density as well. My dad takes homeopathic bioplasma and my mom takes silica 6x. My mom is suffering from osteoporosis and has difficulty walking. Would you recommend calc Phos 6x for both of them as well? Would that alone be sufficient to up the calcium levels. They both are vegetarians, so bone broth is not an option for them.
Thanks,
Yogurt, kefir, butter, and cheese. If calcium uptake does not occur in spite of that, then treatment of the gut to correct it is in order.
CP and Silica are v. good choices.
is calc phos enough to take for osteoporosis and do you recommend tissue salt or could I take 6c. Cannot take silica as I have metal rod in my arm. I am unsure how many and how often to take – please can you advise
Joette, Would calc phos address bunions in an adult? Luckily they don’t cause me much pain but my feet look terrible in flip flops. Thanks for all you do!
There are better choices for bunions. If you google my name and the subject you’ll find what I’ve what written about it.
So calc phos 6x or 6c – I have osteoporosis in hip and spine – don’t want to take allopathic medicine so need help -which potency is best and do I need to take any more remedies with it or is calc phos enough – please help
When you click on the remedy that’s highlighted in blue, it takes you to the specifics including purchasing it.
If you read the post carefully you’ll find your answer depending on the depth and breadth of the pathology you’re looking to address.
Just want to increase bone density and make them strong so calc phos sounds good still not sure which potency – I have 6x tissue salt and have 6c remedy – but don’t know how much or how often to take – someone said calc phos with calc sulph together was good – I cannot afford a consultation with a homeopath so sorry for the questions
Nancy, I’m afraid you’re simply not reading the post and remedy card carefully.
Well I am but not a homeopath but although I have no fractures I want to strengthen my bones to prevent breaks etc.
I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis. The cat scan should I have a very low bone mass and need to take the drug Prolia. I am afraid to go against the dr. as I don’t want broken bones but I also don’t like the side effects of the drug. Do you think over time the cal phos 6x will do the same thing?
The best protocol for pathology is to use both.
No homeopathy will not do the same thing.
It will not strap you with side effects.
Terrific information, Joette! Do you take the Symphytum and Calc phos together in the mouth at once or space them apart?
They’re usually taken simultaneously.
if Symp and calc phos is okay to take simultaneously – if adding Rhus tox 30c and Hypericum 200c (herniated disc and ost – following your other protocal) could these go together in mouth with CP and symp or do they need to be separated? Have so many i need to give for different things in the family …trying to do it right and safe time but not to spoil the medicine at the same time.
thank you Joette
Symphytum and CP are to be taken simultaneously while RT and Hyper are separate.
Keep the different protocols separated by a few minutes or so.
The Banerji protocol indicates taking Symphytum 200 and CP 3x separately for osteoporosis. Is this an error in the Banerji book?
It’s just another way of using these two medicines.
Dear Joette
Thank you for your insights and wisdom to find on these pages. Im on low income, no energy and lots of pain. So all this info is a new hope here for me. My question is, here in Denmark (EU) I can’t find 6c (but I can find 4c or 7c is one of them a possible replacement?) its the same with x i can’t find them – but the man behind the disc said that 4c was the same (people say so much so I want to clear with you)…if you have the time to answer this it would be greatly appreciated. Again thank you. Lots of love and hope from here
I don’t have experience using 4c or 7c but I’d use 4c because its closest to 3x.
On re-reading your post, as a replacement for Calc phos, I’d use 4c.
Ups and also if you’re taking kind of a lot of different once because of so many different symptoms is it okay to take them all at once – is there a rule of how many one can take at a time? thank you <3
It’s best to take them separate from each other by at least a few minutes.
Is it taken once a day?
More often than not it’s taken twice daily.
Hi Joette!
What’s the difference between the calc phos 6x homeopathic remedy and the calc phos 6x cell salt? Do they work the same way?
THey’re the same.
Joette, my cousins children have osteoporosis imperfecta and break many bones. I’m assuming Symphtum 200 would still be good for that?
All bone conditions.
Thank you for sharing this information! If having multiple cavities is an indication of bone issues and calc phos/symphytum would benefit that situation, how does one incorporate it if they already using the calc phos/calc fluor/silicea protocol? Should those cell salts and symphytum be taken together, or two different protocols?
Can you steer me toward articles you’ve written or courses you’ve put out that address bone growth issues particularly in children such as pronated/collapsed arches or scoliosis?
