When I was twelve years old, my cousin’s family invited a neighbor of theirs, a really cute boy, to our annual family picnic. He had liquid Italian eyes with long eyelashes, hair resembling that of an Adonis, and a delightfully preppy look.
I was smitten. But that night when we all gathered on the beach, I saw him throw a rock at a toad and kill it.
I was confused.
Was he a good boy or bad boy?
The inconsistency of what I thought he was and what he really was tore at my heart so strongly, it was almost painful. In that moment, not even his stirring, dreamy eyes could sway me. It was such a strong cascade of emotions all happening in one day.
By the time we headed home, I decided I hated him.
This is not unlike our love affair with modern medicine.
We love it. But when we find out about its dark side, we tend to hate it just as much.
I am an advocate for natural health; for self-driven care, guided most importantly by homeopathy. While homeopathy can cure more than what most folks realize, there are obvious limitations. Because of this, there are times in which we must at least consider modern medicine.
Most often, I disdain “big pharma” drugs and unnecessary surgeries, both of which are widespread, but when I’m honest with myself, I must admit there is a place for both when it comes to achieving and sustaining optimal health. Bear with me as I explain.
Here’s where conventional medicine shines:
1. Diagnostics
Modern medicine is not too shabby when it comes to diagnoses. Is that lump an abscess? Is it a fibroid? A tumor? This is something we need to know before we begin any type of homeopathic treatment.
2. Acute care
If you’re in an automobile accident and your arm is across the street while you’re still in the car, it’s time to get to an ER. No herb, nutritional meal, nor homeopathic remedy will address this like immediate, acute medical care.
Having said this, it would be wonderful if the ambulance packed a homeopathy kit so that on the way, Aconitum 1M or Arnica 1M could be administered every few minutes for shock, hemorrhaging, pain and protection against infection. See this blog for more information.
3. Surgery
If surgery is necessary, and I mean truly necessary, you want your precious body in the hands of a trusted and skilled surgeon. I'm not speaking of removing tonsils because they're enlarged and/or infected; that can be accomplished with Hepar sulph 30 or 200, or Phytolacca 30 without surgery. This is taught in my course, How to Raise a Drug Free Family.
It also does not mean having your gallbladder extracted due to it acting up, because Carduus marianus MT, twice daily, Lycopodium 200, every other day, and Chelidonium 6X has a history of resolving this condition. These methods allow you to keep your body parts. How can anyone argue with that? This is taught in my course, Good Gut Bad Gut.
4. Drugs
Antibiotics and analgesics are usually not necessary if you know how to use homeopathic antibiotics, such as Hepar sulph, Hypericum, Arsenicum album, Aurum arsenicum and a few choice others. Additionally, pain killers are not required once you own an understanding of Arnica, Hypericum and Belladonna.
This doesn’t mean we don’t ever consider the use of conventional drugs, but we must have an arsenal of homeopathics in place to start. This is taught here on my free blog. I save synthetic drugs for last, and only when all else fails.
Indeed, we’d certainly want to employ conventional drugs in terms of general anesthesia during surgery, and if I'm in need of a dental extraction, I want a local anesthetic (although, I must admit, I did consider doing without it once).
Homeopathy is also excellent prior to the final moments before death to ease the pain, anxiety, and general suffering but sometimes, synthetic drugs are appropriate during this time as well.
With the advent of the internet, medical information is no longer esoteric. It is now revealed (in just a few keystrokes) exactly the types of effects the drug, test or procedure you’re submitting to will have on you, and others like you. You know … the side-effects no one warns you about. Then it becomes your job to weigh the benefits against the detriments.
In situations other than those I outlined above, I can’t urge you enough to do your homework. Typically, this does not mean you consult your doctor again because by now, you should be well aware of his/her opinion. What you truly need is a different, perhaps opposing to the conventional medical establishment, assessment of the situation, in order to make a well-rounded decision.
No matter how lovely the package is presented; the preppy look, the sparkling eyes, the hair-like an Adonis, you mustn't fall for a platform that may not be in your best interest.
Do your homework and always start with homeopathy.

I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.
Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.
Joette is not a physician and the relationship between Joette and her clients is not of prescriber and patient, but as educator and client. It is fully the client's choice whether or not to take advantage of the information Joette presents. Homeopathy doesn't "treat" an illness; it addresses the entire person as a matter of wholeness that is an educational process, not a medical one. Joette believes that the advice and diagnosis of a physician is often in order.

I just love the blogs! And I can even hear you saying them when I read it, which gives them more meaning to me because of the true passion you share when talking during counseling sessions. Thank you, I’m still using my remedies and the knowledge I gained during our appointments.
Many thanks Alisa, for your kind words and I’m delighted that you’re using these blogs for yourself and family. Pls pass them on to those who will most benefit and Happy New Year.
Hi Joette,
For the gallbladder protocol, do we start with just one of the remedies? or use all?
For many gall bladder conditions, all 3 are often used.
Thank you for clarifying for me! Much love to you & all that you do!
Thanks for you kind words Kelly and I hope this helps who ever you’re helping.
I’ve been having periodic issues with my gall bladder and digestion. It usually only gives me trouble after a meal with a lot of butter or other fat. For the protocol above, this would be Carduus Marianus Mother Tincture twice a day, Lycopodium 200 every other day, and then how often for the Chelidonium 6x? I am hoping to take the Good Gut Bad Gut course once I’ve saved the money for it since my family all has “issues” 🙂 In the meantime, I’d like to get started with this. Thanks for your help and for all of this amazing information. I just treated my daughter last night with Arnica when her knee had an unfortunate meeting with a concrete floor. It was a pretty hard hit, and this morning there is barely even any bruising. Homeopathy is amazing.
‘Happy to hear of your successes. Chelidonium 6 is usually used on a twice daily basis.
Hi Joette, I was so happy to find this post. My father is considering taking out his gallbladder because he is having so much trouble. Is the above listing of homeopathic remedies a Banerji Protocol? Or are these used classically? You mentioned that for many gall bladder conditions all three are often used, would you be able to tell me if all three are recommended for Biliary Diskinesia? I understand if you can not, thank you for the info either way!
Classical homeopathy doesn’t generally acknowledge protocols.
The term Billiary Diskinesia is really just a description of how the gall bladder is functioning and homeopathy doesn’t usually find such information valuable. Instead, we use symptoms to determine and differentiate. And differentiation is the most important aspect of remedy choice. I cover this in my course since its more detailed than I can cover on a blog.
Thank you for the response. I was hoping it was a Banerji Protocol that he could use. We will look at it classically then, thanks so much. I’d love to take the course when I am able!
Joette,
How long do I do the protocol for sludge and stones?
We use medicines for as long as it takes to clear up a condition.
Hi Joette, I am looking for a protocol for confirmed fibroids. I love all your blogs. You are helping my family so much. God Bless. Kim
If you mean uterine fibroids, I cover how to approach this and the protocols in my course, Feminopathy.
I’m looking to buy the Carduus Marianus Mother Tincture. Is it called this…Carduus Marianus (Milk Thistle seed) BS13?
yes.
thanks, Joette! 🙂
Antibiotics may have side effects so use cautiously
Is the gallbladder protocol completely safe to use during pregnancy? You know Joette, your generosity is remarkable. Thank you so much for blogging. I was so lost until I found you!!! You’ve earned your wings for sure!!!
Thank you for your kind and touching words.
I can not ever say that anything homeopathic is completely safe. Anything can be used incorrectly and homeopathy after all, is medicine.
Hi Joette, you mention Chelidonium in your blog. Is that the same thing as Chelidonium Majus?
Its one in the same.
Also is 6C the same as 6X?
They’re not exactly the same but for most uses, they’re interchangeable.
Thank you so much Joette for all the information you put out for us! Whenever someone in the family is sick, I now google your name and the condition and voilà, I almost always find exactly what we need. I can not thank you enough! In this article I was looking for something to use for gallbladder problems. My question now is how much time do I need to wait between taking Carduus mar MT and Chelidonium 6x. I am hoping to take both before breakfast, but am not sure if I can take them together or must wait before taking the second remedy. Thanks in advance!
Mother tinctures may be taken along with food or drink while homeopathics ought to spaced by about 15 min.
Can we apply this protocol in small gall stones.Kindly reply. ( ToDr. Calabrese)
Hi Joette! Is the gall bladder protocol used for gall bladder polyps as well?
THey’re related but not the same.
Namaste from Nepal!
Just wondering if you’ve also come up with a protocol for Gallbladder Polyp? Thank you!
Will this protocol also work for gall stones? I have a friend with gall stones, and the doctor is saying the gall bladder must come out.
In my course GOod Gut Bad Gut I cover the protocols for gallstones and other gallbladder conditions.
You mentioned Aurum Arsenicum in this blog. I am looking for this in a 200 strength, but for a heart condition. You mentioned this in an article that I found regarding your father. I can’t seem to find it even at OHM. Is it still available?
I’m sorry but its been difficult to source lately.
Joette, I have a dog with ongoing dental infections that have not cleared up using the Banerji protocol of HepSulph, ArsAlb and Hypericum.
Should I consider Aurum Ars 6c for a very old dog with many deep seated long-term illnesses including autoimmune disease, heart disease and liver disease? I’m desperate. Thank you.
I’m sorry but I’d have to take the case; there are too many unknowns from what you’ve sent here.
I am having some issues with my gallbladder, which I’m sure is caused by stones. I am having trouble finding Carduus Mar MT. It is not available at Boiron. Any suggestions? I have taken the Gateway to Homeopathy I and loved it. I would love to take II, but our group disbanded. Thank you.
As a member of the Gateway to Homeopathy Study Group, you have access to OHM Pharma who carries this and many other homeopathics.
If you contact my office either by phone or Email, Eileen will arrange for you to join in a virtual Gateway to Homeopathy 2 group.
When I click on the link for Carduus Mar MT it takes me to amazon and a milk thistle herbal supplement by herb pharm. Will this Work the same as the Carduus Mar?
Carduus Mar is simply the Latin name for Milk Thistle. They are the same.
Carduus Mar is simply the Latin name for Milk Thistle. They are the same
Hi Joette! I’ve tried to reach Carduus Mar Mt but there is not in Turkey, I could just find 30c potence. Can I use it twice daily instead of MT?
Thanks in advance for your reply.
I’ve never used it in potency but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t be used that way. Perhaps only once daily. Pls let me know how it goes.
Thank you so much, Joette, from Guatemala.
I can’t find the remedies in the potency you e recommended for the gallbladder…
