3 Cs for Pain, Part 1: Chamomilla

You can hear a sufferer’s cough. You can see a sufferer’s eczema. But pain is invisible.

How many people do you know who are suffering from pain? It may be more than you think. Luckily, there is homeopathy. (more…)

Terror in the Night

The very words send chills down my spine!

Only one of our children suffered from this frightening condition, and that was enough.

Night terrors terrorize not just the child but the entire family.

Consider Helen’s story.

It was around the beginning of cold and flu season, and along with a cold came the first night of terrorizing, earsplitting screams.

Those 30 minutes felt like 30 hours. (more…)

I Have Coca-Cola Guilt

Nearly thirty-five years ago, I worked at NBC as an account executive. It was interesting work because I witnessed firsthand how large corporations in America function. One of my prized accounts was Pepsi Cola.

I never directly met the people from Pepsi Cola but had a working relationship with their advertising team in Chicago. This account was what we in TV media called a “bread and butter” account. That meant I counted on their regular spending on our TV station to make my monthly budget.

One Tuesday morning, I entered my office to the phone ringing. It was the rep from the Pepsi Cola team who unsympathetically and sternly stated, “Get it off the air.”

“Get what off the air?” I asked. (more…)

Mom, I’m Really Sick!

I write this while my husband is driving on our way back from spending the night at our son's home. My son had phoned me asking me to help him because he had a raging fever, severe head and back pain and weak breathing. He’s not often sick, so when he does this, I know he means business.

I love that he called me. Not a doctor. Not a hospital. Not even a free clinic on campus.

He called his mom.

Perhaps some might not appreciate an interruption in the night, but I thrive on it. And most importantly, I have the confidence that I’ll know what to do.

My guess is that if you’re reading this, you are the same kind of mother. (more…)

Halloween Horrors Handled with Homeopathy

 Halloween Pumpkin Small2

When Jessica was a girl, houses might be decorated with carved pumpkins or corn stalks. Nothing like the kind of embellishments of today.

Elaborate graveyard scenes. Frightening noises and music. Things that jump out at you. Today, some people go out of their way to try to scare others.

Jessica’s two boys, 13-year-old Nick and 8-year-old Jamey, nagged for days that they wanted to go to the big Haunted Hayride. Jessica had some nagging reservations, but the boys seemed assured that they could handle the “fun.”

(Sometimes our gut is smarter than our brain.) (more…)

A Salute to Ignatia Real Medicine for Post-Traumatic Stress and More

Salute to SUN

This Memorial Day, in honor of our veterans, active-duty service members, the families of those who serve and of those we have lost to battle; I want to highlight one of the most useful weapons in our arsenal of homeopathic remedies … Ignatia amara, the ultimate post-traumatic stress medicine.

(I’m using the “weapons” parallel not only because of today’s military theme but also because the handy red box, below, that holds our 100 remedies kit, was originally designed for storing bullets … I like to think of each little vial of pills as ammo against ill health!) (more…)

Homeopathic Investing

Homeopathic Remedies

Question: I’ve heard you say that owning homeopathic remedies is an investment, but is it safe to ignore expiration dates on the vials of remedies I purchased years ago? Don’t the remedies lose their effectiveness?

Reply: Yes, it’s safe, and no, remedies don’t lose their effectiveness! Allow me to illustrate:

While doing research for my first book years ago, I frequented the University of Buffalo’s Medical Library, where they archived homeopathy medical books and remedy kits used in Buffalo homeopathic hospitals from the 1800s to 1940s.

One of those days, while in the throes of my exploration in an old section of the library, I contracted a monumental headache, likely from the moldy and dusty surroundings. (more…)
