Evelyn was a beautiful, active senior who prided herself on being a snappy dresser. But she hadn’t worn shorts in decades because she was self-conscious about her varicose veins. As we age, many of us develop colorful, protruding veins, but Evelyn’s appeared early and abundantly.
The venous grouping she hated the most was on her thigh — a vivid tangle of blood vessels that resembled a Gordian knot (and had been equally impossible to resolve).
Until homeopathy.
At 96 years old, Evelyn had a slight stroke. Luckily, there was no paralysis or loss of speech, but it was concerning nonetheless. Her caregiver (her daughter) was a student of mine at the time, so she asked Evelyn if she’d be interested in trying homeopathy.
What an interesting conversation ensued!
It turns out that when Evelyn was a youngster in Boston in the 1920s and 30s, a homeopath lived down the street from her family. When little Evie got sick, her mother would take her to the homeopath — not a pediatrician, not urgent care, not the emergency room. The neighborhood homeopath was the first line of defense against Evelyn’s childhood ills.
So much time had passed since she last took homeopathy that she’d almost forgotten about it. However, needless to say, Evelyn was excited about returning to something that had been such a reliable comfort to her nearly a century before.
Varicose veins are no match for homeopathy.
So, her daughter began administering the Banerji Protocol for vascular issues: Hamamelis virginiana 200C mixed with Arnica montana 3C, twice daily. They were hopeful that this protocol — this clinically successful combination of medicines — would nudge Evelyn’s vascular system back to homeostasis and discourage future strokes and TIAs.
It worked.
Yet, something surprising happened.
One day, as Evelyn dressed, she looked down at her leg with big, round, shocked eyes and yelled to her daughter, “What have you been giving me?”
Okay, I imagine panic probably ensued for a brief moment. But luckily, Evelyn quickly followed up with, “My varicose vein cluster is almost gone! I’ve had that awful spot for almost my entire life! Did homeopathy do that?”
Why, yes, Evelyn. Yes, it did!
The Banerji Protocol for vascular issues is also their go-to protocol for varicose veins. Let’s face it: Varicose veins are vascular issues every bit as much as brain clots or microbleeds.
One protocol, two benefits!
Not only did Hamamelis 200C mixed with Arnica 3C help with Evelyn’s post-stroke condition, but it also resolved her technicolor varicose veins.
Just think of that, my friends. The most pressing benefit of this protocol may have been invisible, but an ancillary benefit was evident to all. The varicose veins were retracing in size and severity almost daily until they virtually disappeared.
Of course, this didn’t happen overnight; it took many months. But the joy on Evelyn’s face was worth it all. She had re-experienced the joy a tangible homeopathic success can bring. (Now, if only she had some brightly colored new shorts to show off her new legs.)
We all know that synthetic pharmaceuticals of commerce carry side effects — undesirable side effects. But I guess we could consider that homeopathy has a few “side effects” of its own — desirable side effects — namely, working with the body as a whole to resolve related conditions as well as the chief complaint.
That’s a side effect we can endorse!
Indeed, this is the medicine you’ve always wanted from your doctors and pharmacists. Homeopathy is a gentle, polite, efficacious, relatively safe medicine formulated to adhere to stringent manufacturing standards from natural materials found on earth.
Pass on the good news of Practical Homeopathy®!

I cover varicose veins in two of my courses: Feminopathy: How You Can Correct Female Ailments Using Safe, Inexpensive and Effective Homeopathy and Skin, the Ugly Truth: Safe, Effective Treatment of Skin Ailments, Chronic or Acute, with Homeopathy.
I encourage you to consider which of these courses might best fit your family’s needs. These condition-specific protocol courses are a treasure trove of answers to your most pressing questions. Plus, you’ll learn more about homeopathy as a paradigm and how to think and observe as a homeopath would, allowing you to choose the correct medicine when suffering strikes.
And remember — all my Mighties (Joette’s Mighty Members) qualify for a 10% discount on course purchases. Plus, Mighty Members get so many other perks … not the least of which is the ability to send me requests of topics to cover in my public weekly blog posts or my additional private weekly blog posts published exclusively to Mighty Members. I enjoy the camaraderie with my Mighties. Won’t you join us?
What if we can’t find Hamamelis 200 and Arnica 3? Can we use Hamamelis 30c and Arnica 30c?
You can use anything you’d like but if you hope to get the kind of results associated with this protocol, following it precisely would be prudent.
Is the Arnica in a 3c or 3x potency, or simple “3?”
Thank you

Is this a topical treatment? And if so, is there a ready made ointment/cream I can buy that already has both of those in it?

Its not topical.
I am very interested in your protocol for Varicose Veins. I have them bad, and have already had the surgery for them years ago.
Would this help spider veins as well? If not, would you consider teaching us about those as well?
This is a protocol associated with varicose veins.
If you have a spider vein issue about half the size of what is shown in the picture would the Hamamelis 200 mixed with Arnica 3 be expected to help clear this up too? If so do you have any idea how many months someone would need to do this twice a day before significant improvement is seen? I know homeopathy works for more acute issues I have tried it and seen it work in myself and other family members, but I get discouraged and quit using it for other issues when I don’t know about how long things will take to improve. I would love to try this, but need to document when I start to keep myself on track with an approximate end date?
I teach folks how to use this method for chronic conditions as well as how to manage the case once its begun. You might want to visit JoettesLearningCenter and find a course that interests you. That’s where I teach case management strategies.
@Caroline: I make an Excel chart that color codes each remedy within a protocol by days taken, usually going for several weeks if treating a chronic. There is a ‘key’ to show which color corresponds to which remedy. It is taped right in the kitchen and keeps people on track. It takes just a few minutes to create. Check mark when you take a remedy (sometimes I write in the rectangle what time I take one remedy if another one is to follow soon after it). I don’t make an ‘end date’ because I don’t know how long it will take, but do have the start date, and then I can see how long it took before improvements were made. Hope this helps.
Thank you Cynthia I am going to make a Homeopathic Medicine Tracker chart today to tape inside a cabinet with all the categories, I like the idea of using a check mark. I also have telangiectasis or spider veins as we call them on my eyelids. Instead of covering them up with makeup I will use the remedies I decided are best and for the awful spider veins on one leg from running into the corner of a piece of furniture a number of years back on my thigh I am going to apply essential oils daily. One way or the other the spider veins on my thigh will disappear. Having two of the same issues on the body it might take longer to see resuls. Homeopathy is the only safe choice for the eyelids. Essential oils mixed with a carrier oil might speed up the thigh spider vein issue. Once again thanks for so much for your reply. It has prompted me to come up with a plan and take action which is just what I needed!
Great post! Where do you find Arnica in 3X? The lowest I have been able to locate is 6x. Or do you mean Arnica 3C? Which is equally hard to find. Please let me know! Thanks.
If you’re a student of mine, you’ll have access to OHM PHarma in Texas.
Joette, just wanna confirm you mean 3X?
Joette, just wanna make sure you mean 3X, not 3C?
I would also like to know if this is 3c or 3x.
Thanks

Please let me know if you mean 3X or 3 C. Thanks!

I have a friend coming back from Europe, she can bring low potencies with her, which are hard to find here. I just need to know if it’s X or C. Thank you.

Would this protocol be the same for Hemorrhoids? I have had success with Hammeles and Arnica separately but together makes sense to me.Thanks….Jan B
yes
I just put two dry pills of Arnica 3c & 2 pills of Hamamelis 200ck in my mouth at the same time. Is that how you mix them or are they better together in water mixed before consuming? I want to do this right. My veins are terrible.
If you don’t purchase them already mixed directly from OHM pharma or Helios Homeopathics, this is the 2nd best way to use them.
You answered my question about having this protocol on hand for strokes that I was going to ask at our next Mighty members on April 21st!
Would this also be the protocol to have on hand that would work for aortic aneurysms that runs in my family?
This medicine covers many vascular conditions including aneurysms.
When you say Hamamelis 200 mixed with Arnica 3, do you mean that these are mixed together (like, in a bottle) and then taken, or taken one after another at the same time or after an interval?
I suffer from varicose veins

Thank you for this, I am excited to try this protocol for my horrible veins. Do we take the two remedies daily for months or even years until the veins are better?
For as long as it takes. Some find there’s a small shift (depending on severity, etc.) within a few months. Others need to use the medicine for longer periods of time. All along the way however, it should be noted if there are even modest shifts.
Is this a tincture or pellets?
pellets
Is it safe and effective for varicose veins and clots caused by pregnancy?
The cause of the condition doesn’t matter. Homeopathy is relatively safe and largely effective.
Hello: If you are already undergoing constitutional treatment, could these two remedies possibly be added without conflict? Or would they have to become/sub for the constitutional? I have Erythromelalgia, spider veins and a touch of varicose veins, along with hemorrrhoids. Thank you!
My answer is a resounding “yes!” but your classical homeopath will sadly disagree.
I teach my Practical Homeopathy here and in my academy. It doesn’t adhere to such.
