I Am Having Revolutionary Thoughts

Joette Calabrese

After all, today in the U.S., we celebrate our independence, which was hard-won 200+ years ago.

Now, two centuries later, we live in a time of over-reaching government mandates on how we are to live our lives, on what determines health and on how health ought to be addressed.

All of this has stirred me up. Does that mean I take to the streets? For some, it may be time to do that.

But my action forward is more aimed toward the family. For me, the more government mandates, the more I hunker down.

As a homeopathic educator, practitioner, mom, and neighbor, my thinking takes me home.

Allow me to elaborate.

Home is where the wounded return. It’s where we regenerate. It’s where we soothe our ills and build our spirit. It’s the place of preparation well in advance of upcoming skirmishes.

My strategy is not one of the arms our forefathers bore. No.

My weaponry is in my homeopathic medical library.

My ammunition lies in waiting in my homeopathic medicine cabinet.

My artillery is in my homeopathic knowledge.

This is how I protect my freedoms. How I protect my family and their health.

It’s the tactic I rely on to prepare for a siege. I turn my outrage to study. I turn my indignation to building connections and establishing relationships with like-minded thinkers and like-minded doers.

To “mother” in this fashion is a political act. It’s my form of civil disobedience. And equally important is my ability to spread the word from one woman to another, from one family to another.

Over the past several months that I’ve been working on my new kids’ homeopathy curriculum, I’ve been thinking deeply about how the core of my message translates specifically to the education of our children.

As most of you know, I have a desire to foster values such as self-reliance, resourcefulness, can-do attitudes, “guts, spunk and moxie” (as I often put it), and yes, independence.

Many thinkers have opined that some of the deepest problems we see in our culture today have arisen from how we as a society have been parenting our children.

We’ve transitioned from being a society in which children went out and played unsupervised with other children in their neighborhood – making up their own games with their own rules, mediating disputes between themselves, building things and problem-solving on their own – to being a society that keeps children within a rigid framework of adult-organized activities.

This new style of child time-management has resulted in a generation of young adults whose first instinct is not to build and construct, not to creatively problem-solve, but rather, to appeal to authority to mediate and fix things for them.

And this is not just a problem among young people. It seems that we, as a country, are collectively moving toward an attitude of powerlessness.

Of waiting to see who will step up to clean up the mess because the mess seems too big and too overwhelming.

But the wisest people I know say that the first step to tackling large problems is to start small. Clean up our bedroom. Repair a bicycle.

Build a chicken coop. Treat that poison ivy rash on our own, at home.  Foster a constructive culture of building and creating, not one of merely tearing things down and demanding that others fix our problems.

So, my message to you is let’s not let these world events render us submissive, nor needy of authorities.

Instead, stoke your embers and fuel your declaration of independence; in yourself and in your children.

Joette laughingI am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.

Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.

Joette is not a physician and the relationship between Joette and her clients is not of prescriber and patient, but as educator and client. It is fully the client's choice whether or not to take advantage of the information Joette presents. Homeopathy doesn't "treat" an illness; it addresses the entire person as a matter of wholeness that is an educational process, not a medical one. Joette believes that the advice and diagnosis of a physician is often in order.

I got into homeopathy 33 years ago after my health spiraled downward from years of poor choices and antibiotic overuse. I was lucky to be able to find two homeopathic medical doctors during 20 of those years. I studied on my own but was always left with that mystery of is it the right remedy. So much of what I read lauded homeopathy but always redirected you to a homeopath for treatment which wasn’t economically feasible at times. So I did break the rules and just tried remedies on my home. So happy to find you, so much free information, sometimes confirming things I thought I might be right on. I can’t thank you enough for your generosity. You have renewed my fire and love for ihomeopathy and you are a calm in this unpredictable storm.

  5. Linda says:

Thank you for having and sharing your guts, spunk, and moxie with us all! I look forward to your children’s course as my husband and I have already determined to homeschool and have a “health class” yearly to teach them homeopathy and build their knowledge just as we would with math and English.

  6. Joyce M says:

Great words of encouragement, thank you! I am unable to “take to the streets” although I feel as though I should to counter the false narrative being promoted by those rioters out there. So today I will cook a meal, celebrate our country and the freedoms guaranteed by the Declaration of Independence and I will “protest” government overreach in whatever way that I can! Thank you and Happy Independence Day!

  7. Anna says:

Thank you and Kudos to you for your wonderful expression of wisdom and honesty. Taking responsibility for one’s own actions, words and thoughts is a powerful reminder that our soul, our very spirit, is calling to each of us from within. Thank you for Nurturing and Hearing this Highest Good voice. Blessings to you.

  8. Heather says:

Thank you, Joette. For a while I’ve been wondering what normal people with busy lives can do to push back against this government overreach, and I appreciate your take on it. Self-sufficiency as civil disobedience. I like it!

  11. Jen says:

Bravo! Well said, Joette. Thank you for speaking this truth felt so deeply in my heart. And thank you for shining this truth from your beacon… there is strength in knowing that we are many, not alone, banded together in our fight for independence at home. And what a great perspective celebrating today. Our approach, though not conventional, has validity and truth in the purest sense. Happy Independence Day!

  12. Sharon Barnett says:

Well said, Joette! Too many adult bodies with the biddable mind of a child so that they become timid followers, rather than brave leaders. I feel a bit rebel-ish these days as well! ?

  13. Lyda Savoca says:

Thank you Joette, for your message of independence, and for helping us all to be more independent every day, through your teaching and encouragement! If only there were more teachers, leaders, and citizens with your mindset! I hope you have a wonderful and blessed Independence Day!

  14. Kandace says:

Wow, I cannot thank you enough for stating that! I am a 32 year old mom who is now homeschooling my 4 and 2 year old and I have another on the way. I started learning of homeopathy from your page in January and I’ve never looked back! These values are so unbelievably important to me. When I was a child, I played outside until the streetlights came on! All day long! Creating forts, making up dances, playing all kinds of things in the yard, in the woods, down the street. We had a blast! It is almost as if that doesn’t exist anymore. I am trying to instill those values with my kids and it’s like we have to go back to basics! I fear that “social distancing and conditioning” will be what creates a submissive future generation. And that is exactly what they are doing is targeting our children. I pray that God will allow me to grow my little tribe and raise them the right way for as long as I can.. we have to fight for our families and our homes at all costs! We are their biggest fear and threat! You give me so much encouragement in a world that is so consumed with what society thinks is right. Thank you for sharing and spreading the word. We need more mothers and families like yours! God bless you, Joette!

  15. Brenda Pinette says:

Thank you for your words of wisdom. We have let our children, grand children & great grand children down by letting others, society& government tell us how to live our lives & bring up our families. Only WE can make changes in our life, our family & community. So thankful I will be taking the Gateway 1 class this month. Peace my friends & comrades ?

  16. Kathy Paine says:

Hi, Ms. Calabrese. I am interested in your services for my daughter.

She has a dog phobia with no history that would support that. She also has food sensory issues and will not eat most foods.

Hi Kathy, It’s actually not uncommon for people to have fear of dogs without a proceeding event.
I’m happy to work with you if you choose. Simply contact my office via phone or email and Eileen will help you.

  17. Morgan Ryza says:

Yes! I totally agree! We homeschool for this very reason and always have put an emphasis on unstructured play, problem solving, and critical thinking. If you need help creating the curriculum let me know. I have homeschooled for 10 years basically developing our curriculum each year, taught for 10 in public schools, and have a master’s degree in education.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’ll certainly keep it in mind, Morgan.
      It’s a big endeavor.

  18. Julia says:

Your story makes me tear up. I am wondering why. Something has hit home. I think I’m just sad about what’s all happening. That said, I’m so glad we brought our kids to our cabin every summer away from city life where they could enjoy the water, played with other kids, learned about boats, and explored. Now I am trying to open their minds to remedies other than allopathy. I wish I had learned about you when my kids were younger and I wish they’d grown up with homeopathy. But, we do our best and hope that along the way they learned to be curious rather than close minded. Cheers to you Joette. Your words bring my soul to yes.

  19. Rachel says:

Yes, yes and yes!!! Amen, Joette, to all of it. God bless you.

  20. Ruth says:

Yes absolutely! Home is always at the heart of the next generation, the place of preparation, repair and moxie building so that when we go out we can slay dragons!

  21. Angela Bonnette says:

      ‘Nice to see you here.

  24. Bethany says:

Thanks to you, Joette, I have been able to give myself “permission” to be the mom I’ve always wanted to be. One who is different from the crowd. I’m a proud member of your “guts, spunk and moxie” club.

  25. Rodney Galarneau says:

Thank you joette for all that you do! I am 83 yrs old and as they say of another generation. DIY is really my middle initial. I am dealing with numerous medical issues including stage four prostate cancer but as of now they are not an issue because of Homeopathy through your generosity.
Our children neglected misdirected are greatly in need of your help. Greetings from Buffalo you are sorely missed. Rod

  26. Wendy says:

    Amen and Amen!

  27. Lisa says:

I am just going to continue to ask God, Jesus and the universe to send love and light to help people evolve in their compassion and help them to stop seeing themselves as unique, special and better than others and to start seeing everyone as the same as themselves. Hopefully, many people can widen in their love and compassion. Joette, is there a remedy to help people to be more loving and inclusive?

  28. Kim Huitt says:

Absolutely! I’m going to sign up for a Study Group because I want to really understand homeopathy better for myself and my family and community. It would be a very fun and rewarding co-operative class to teach children about the use of homeopathy. We have been home educating for the past 12 years and adding homeopathy to our lifestyle has been a game changer for sure! I tell all my friends about my husband getting off of Advil a year ago.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Nice job Kim…to both… how you treated your husband AND for homeschooling!
