Everyone knows one.
You know — those rare people you meet who have joie de vivre oozing from their pores. They’ve accomplished more in the last year than most of us can in a lifetime.
Each time you see them, you must restrain yourself from asking what they eat, why their skin is so glowing, and the secrets behind their success.
That's exactly how it is with Suzy. Just one look at her is enough to convince anyone that she must be dabbling in something unknown to the rest of us.
But some things are not always as they seem.
There was a time when Suzy was really dragging, and she hid it from everyone. It was a struggle for her to get up in the mornings and an effort to get dressed. The next battle was to get breakfast for her family and then, do the beastly dishes.
Everything was an effort. Life was a protracted, relentless, effortful drag.
A naturopath she visited offered her the explanation that she suffered from adrenal fatigue. Frankly, all she remembered was that “fatigue” was the operative word in the diagnosis.
The test results left Suzy unimpressed.
Suzy was an ardent student of homeopathy, so she eschewed the recommended supplements, and instead, tasked herself with analyzing her illness through the lens of homeopathy.
Allow me to clarify that in homeopathy (particularly in the method that I employ and teach), we don’t identify the adrenals as the cause of fatigue. Indeed, fatigue can emanate from a variety of sources and circumstances.
For example, Suzy’s fatigue could have resulted from having had three babies in four years, from her long career of nursing, or following a particularly trying event of influenza.
Several homeopathic medicines are used to correct fatigue (no matter whether the specific fatigue is called adrenal fatigue, fatigue after grief, fatigue after childbirth, fatigue from having too much coffee or chocolate, fatigue as a side effect of conventional drug therapy or even fatigue stemming from low testosterone in men).
Indeed, for the homeopath, it depends less on how the endocrine system reads on lab reports and more on the individual’s predominating circumstances and or symptoms. So, do we need a saliva or blood test? Not necessarily so, if we use homeopathy.
After her last child, while she was nursing, Suzy recognized that the fatigue she felt was big — bigger than any she had experienced in the past.
It didn’t seem to correlate with the birth. She had plenty of pep for months afterward; it hit about a year later.
Her baby, Gino, nursed voraciously. Nighttime nursing seemed not to end, and during the day it was like a feeding frenzy!
Suzy did what she could to keep up with Gino’s appetite, preparing nutrient dense foods for them both. But he was a gulch of hunger. (There is a way to correct this with homeopathy. Read on to learn how.)
Luckily, Suzy was taking a course in homeopathy. She learned that the homeopathic medicine China officinalis also known as Cinchona officinalis is specific for fatigue after the loss of bodily fluids.
That made it particularly useful during nursing. Given that Gino’s ravenous appetite was likely depleting her, (although it's unnecessary to know for certain via tests), she began taking China Officinalis 200 (Cinchona officinalis 200) once every day.
Within about a week or so, (often longer for some), she forgot that she had been so tired! She completely overlooked her daily nap.
She forgot that she had previously only wanted to sit in front of a computer screen and vegetate, instead of tackling her daily tasks.
She forgot all about it, that is until her husband noticed even before she did that, in addition to her usual duties, she had cleaned the basement, made lasagna from scratch and gone grocery shopping — all in one day!
If you met her today, it would be hard to believe that Suzy was once someone who spent as much time as she could get away with on the couch and did what she could to bribe her kids to prepare the family meals.
Today, she is someone others envy for her energetic demeanor.
As for baby Gino, to correct his voracious appetite, he was given Calcarea Phosphorica 3 and Lycopodium 200 twice daily for a few months.
No longer is his hunger insatiable nor his belly distended. And no —after a few months, he no longer needs to take these.
Nor does Suzy require China officinalis.
Why? Because homeopathy aims to correct conditions, not suppress, not supplement, not even support — it simply uproots the ailment and moves on.
I recall the practical use of this China officinalis in Kolkata from the doctors under Dr. Pratip Banerji. There, they use it for Indian village women who work tirelessly in the fields in the hot sun.
It is their go-to medicine for physical over-exertion associated with heavy perspiration resulting in fatigue.
China officinalis has since become my go-to medicine for any adrenal fatigue condition that arises from fluid loss. No saliva test needed. No blood test required. Just common sense and Practical Homeopathy.
Suzy initially had learned about the use of China in my courses where I teach its use for nursing mothers. Whether you’re seasoned in your homeopathic knowledge or a neophyte, consider joining her and others by starting or joining an online or an in-home study group, called Gateway to Homeopathy.
You might be surprised at how easy it is to cure your family and self with information that most in the U.S. know little about. You might also be surprised at how satisfying it is to be the one in the know…way ahead of the curve.
I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.

What would be a good homeopathic for chronic fatigue not caused by fluid loss.
Thank you
See my answer to a similar question here.
What about for fatigue that is not from loss of body fluids?
Fatigue may spring from many different sources. Use this blog to read about the condition that may be contributing and you might find what you’re looking for. i.e. menopause, low testosterone, anxiety, flu, allergies, etc.
If you really don’t know what the condition is that is contributing to the fatigue, but you has constant thirst and battle keeping your hydration levels within healthy limits, would China 200C seen like a wise place to start or is it better to look for other symptoms and hope addressing those will lessen the fatigue? (I am in Gateway 1, I am still learning the process the determine which medicine is appropriate.) Thank you!
I don’t know what is meant by “a battle keeping hydration levels within healthy limits” but loss of fluids and fatigue are keynotes of CHina. I urge you to read your materia medica before administering these medicines.
Interesting! Thank you! China is also indicated in plant homeopathy for a loss of fluids in plants too.
I’m interested in homeopathy for use in agriculture. And, as is often the case, the crossover into another species is logical. Can you share your source?
Hi, does china work for adrenal fatigue not associated with nursing? I had 3 babies in 3.5 years, but have not nursed now for over a year (youngest is almost 2.5). However, I’m completely and utterly exhausted all the time and my thyroid is starting to go whacky (hyper not hypo). We’ve also moved 3x in 3 years, and in this last year we’ve had a sudden death in the family, my middle child was in children’s hospital with Kawasaki disease, and I had a breast cancer scare. I’m sleeping about 9hrs per night And still requiring a daily nap to get through. Thanks for any help you can offer.
Without taking your case here, I can’t offer specific information. I urge you to thoroughly read my blog and articles on other sites where I’m certain you’ll find your answer, or consider taking one of my courses, such as Feminopathy or Gateway to Homeopathy.
Thank you! I’m going to try this!
Following.
I, too, would be interested in the other remedies you mentioned being used for chronic fatigue.
Hmmm. Very interesting! Mine began after uterine fibroids caused me to have a period that lasted about 4 months then resulted in surgery. Lots of blood loss during that time.
Joette, I found your website about a year ago and have been learning all I can with great success. With regard to agriculture, aphids get the best of my tomatoes every year and I got to thinking about using homeopathy. I found this website and ordered two of the remedies and they seem to be working. As my neighbor puts it, my tomatoes are “epic”. It’s just blowing me away every time how effective, “easy”, and economical homeophathy is. Could you imagine how this would revolutionize agriculture? Don’t even get me started as I’m sure we all agree the state of agriculture is much the same as medicine (and the food and beauty industry…I digress.) I hope you find this helpful! http://homeopathyplus.com/the-top-four-remedies-for-gardens-and-farms/
Thanks! And yes, we could carry on about agriculture.
The very first commenter above asked the following question you gave your reply as follows:

MY QUESTION: What does this mean “See my answer to a similar question here”? Was their supposed to be a hyperlink to another blog on the word here? Or are you telling us to re-read the article above?
I was referring to someone previously who asked the same question. WHen I respond in the back end of the blog, I don’t know the order in which it will show up but it was close to your question.
I didn’t include a link and if I have a moment later tonight, I’ll dig up the response. Meanwhile, take a look at the questions posted close to yours and my response.
This is perfect timing – thank you! Sepia was another one I’ve been considering as well, but this is a great help!
‘Happy to hear. I wish you the best.
Wow, the never ending appetite and constant nursing at night fit my son to a ‘T’ four years ago, including the bloated belly. Now my 10 mo has been up to nurse 4-8x per night since birth, in spite of good daytime nursing and her starting nutrient dense solids and enjoying them. However she has NEVER had bloated belly. Would it still be fitting try this protocol with her to help stop nursing so much at night or not due to lack of bloat? BTW, I so appreciate what you put into your blog; I’m constantly reading and learning, homeopathy is a passion for me now!
Which course is information about Nursing Mothers found?
I believe its covered in Feminopathy and certainly in my CD download, Baby Grande.
Is the baby grande cd still a resource on your site? I can’t find it.
Homeopathy in agriculture — absolutely fascinating!! This has never even crossed my mind. I am so excited to look into it. Thank you for commenting with this!
Joette, Will homeopathy help Type 2 Diabetes?
I’ve seen it.
Is it possible for plain Lycopodium to be the correct remedy if LycoPlum was not? Thank you!
yes.
Intriguing and I’m in such a state I’m willing to try anything that might help my debilitating chronic fatigue and what I suspect is Adrenal Fatigue.
However, I noticed that the write-up for Cinchona Officinalis says:
“Diarrhea with Gas and Bloating”
That doesn’t seem relevant to the fatigue – am I definitely looking at the correct product?
The FDA requires that an indication be printed on the side of the bottles when sold retail, so they chose one of its larger indications….otherwise they’d have to print about 3 pages worth, which would, of course, include those that I wrote about. IF you want to know the indications of a remedy, go to a materia medica on line and read it in its entirety. THis is a good practice for learning the depth and breadth of homeopathy and will likely wow you…like it has those of us who have studied it for decades.
Soon I’ll have my own materia medica on the market. It will give you a more concise idea of the most important medicines.
Joette, I have been taking China 200 every other day while nursing since taking your Good Gut Bad Gut course. I had thought that I should take it for as many months as my baby nurses, but after reading this blog (which is super helpful also) I am wondering if I should only take it until my energy comes back in full force. What do you recommend?
I like using China 200 during the entire time of nursing if fatigue is present. However, if the baby is nursing exclusively its likely a good rationale for its use regardless of energy levels.
I nurse my baby exclusively and have gradually become more fatigued. I have wondered about takimg China because i have also acquired ear ringing in the last 2 months and ive read it can help. However all I have is 30C which came in my kit. Can I use it just more frequently like 2 times a day?Ive been using cells salts but no improvement,
Since homeopathy and agriculture were mentioned in the above comments, does anyone know of a homeopathic remedy for getting rid of Japanese Beetles?
There is a gardening with homeopathy facebook page which you can request to join. Lots of information available and feedback much like students of Joette Caslabrese Facebook
Reading this reminded me yet again that I am curious your opinion on when a period should return after having a baby when the baby is exclusively nursing and still wakes during the night. Doctors say it’s normal that mine come back at 3-5 months postpartum but my gut tells me that’s got to be early. What do you think Joette? Thank you for being an amazing resource for all us moms. You have been a blessing from God to our family.
It’s not uncommon for menses to return within a few months of giving birth.
Would this still be the correct protocol to apply when the fatigue lasts after nursing is over? My youngest has been weaned for over a year, but nursing has always been very tiring for me, and I still have fatigue issues.
China is perfect for fatigue that is caused by loss of bodily fluids. And nursing certainly qualifies, even if it was ended years ago.
Thank you! I also had significant blood loss after most births, plus a miscarriage that was bad enough to require a transfusion. It is definitely worth trying. Thanks for all you do, Joette!
The only Cinchona Officinalis I could find in my area was Cinchona Officinalis 30c, is this not going to be a high enough dosage for adrenal fatigue?
As always, click on the word and it will take you to Amazon where you’ll find the 200 potency.
Would China 200 be appropriate for fatigue during pregnancy, too? If so, would it also be once a day?
We use China when there’s pathology. I actually don’t see fatigue during certain times of pregnancy as an illness but rather a time to take it easy and force the mother to rest.
I have a daughter who has 4 children and all 2 years apart. She has nursed all of them and is dealing with weight that won’t come off. She goes to the gym several times a week, eats gluten and dairy free, and ears healthy with as much healthy fat as she can reasonably get. Thank you for this article. I noticed another prior question as to whether a person can take the 30c and still see the results you are describing. If someone already has one strength on hand such as 30 instead of 200 how would you suggest they proceed?
If you expect to experience the results that I witness, use the potencies discussed in the article.
Is the Calcarea Phosphorica 3 and Lycopodium 200 twice daily taken together as combo remedy or separately 2D? Thanks
Its not a combination remedy.
I have read this blog twice and I cannot find anything discussed for fatigue not resulting from fluid loss which indicates China. Can someone please direct me where to find remedies for fatigue not related to fluid loss?
I agree. It’s not in the comments section.
Also didn’t find it but think perhaps sepia which was referred to above was the remedy she may have meant – fatigue without fluid loss…just assuming those comments above may have been what a Joette was referring to…
I was diagnosed with adrenal fatigue 3 years ago by a saliva test given by an Osteopath. I haven’t found anything that helps very much. Using cell salts, broad spectrum vitamin C, a combo of Ancient Lakes Salt/potassium/magnesium in my drinking water. Avena. Kali Phos. Clean diet. No caffeine.
In my case adrenal fatigue means adrenal overload. It prevents sleep, causes way way too much adrenaline 24/7 for over 3 years. It has caused severe dental issues from gridding my teeth until they break — 8 teeth over the past 3 years!…My resting heart rate is sometimes over 150. Fatigue is not my problem…. it’s way too much adrenaline. China Off didn’t help at all.
It doesn’t surprise me that it didn’t act. What you describe are not conditions that China covers.
What you described sounds like a condition called Hyper POTS.
I’d love to hear a remedy for adrenal fatigue related more to stress!
There are a number of them. But I teach fatigue as well as stress rems on this blog. Use this method in your browser to find specific conditions:
JoetteCalabresefatigue or JoetteCalabreseStress.
should you want to delve deeper, I cover this in-depth in my online course titled Mindful Homeopathy.
https://mindfulhomeopathy.joettecalabrese.com/
In this course I delve deeply into homeopathic medicines where psychological conditions present. The word “adrenal” is unnecessary here. instead we simply look at what is presenting and that is fatigue related to stress.
Could Cinchona 200 also likewise be useful in a mom who has nursed her 5 children, most for lengthier times (4+) years for the past 17 years and has fatigue as a symptom?
