“Whatever.”
“I don’t want to.”
“I don’t care.”
Sometimes, we women catch ourselves saying these things more and more often.
It may seem like a big part of us is missing.
When our hormones go awry, our whole personality and outlook can change.
We experience increased emotional PMS, irritability or vaginal dryness. Sometimes those around us notice our “nesting” instincts diminishing, as evidenced by our lack of interest in our family, in housekeeping, in cooking or in caring for our children.
Even worse, we sadly lose interest in our husbands. It’s as though our libido packed up and left the building!
Of course, all of us have our individual levels of enthusiasm towards our “wifely duties,” so a mild enthusiasm is not necessarily a pathology. But, if we have a strong aversion to the activities associated with being a woman or if we lose the feelings of enjoyment we used to have for them — then it is reasonable to suspect hormonal imbalance.
Life-in-general can disrupt our hormones — as can having a child or taking bioidentical hormones. (By the way, keep in mind “bioidentical” is really only a marketing term. It does not mean the product is natural.)
But, I have found one of the most prevalent hormone disruptors in our society is birth control pills. Women don’t take this medication for a few weeks, and then they’re done.
No. In general, when a woman goes on the pill, she is on it for years, even decades!
Imagine the confusion years of synthetic hormones cause our bodies — not only in our reproductive systems but the overall endocrine system. Our hormone balances are intricate. Tinkering with them without care for what they may actually cause is at best sloppy science but more importantly, can cause a future of health and even behavioral fallout.
In fact, some have referred to the birth control pill as the “divorce pill,” because of the increased divorce rates in women who have taken the pill. Google it.
It’s fascinating — and distressing.
As a woman approaches menopause, prior hormonal tampering can cause her to lose interest in a wonderful man she has loved for years. (In fact, I wrote about this very situation in a previous blog.)
Or worse yet, the birth control pill may cause women to choose the wrong mate in the first place! Scientific American featured an eye-opening article about the subject. Or, perhaps I should say “nose-opening” because birth control pills alter our sense of smell.
Believe it or not, smell is a major subconscious influence in our choice of mate. Synthetic hormones manipulate the naturally occurring senses in a woman’s body — changing her and changing her preferences. When she stops taking the synthetic hormone, she returns to “herself” and wonders how she ended up with that guy.
Shocking, right?
Well, what do we do if we suspect our hormones have changed naturally or have been artificially manipulated? Generally, a good starting point is Sepia 200, twice weekly until hormonal instincts return to normal.
Now, don’t get me wrong, there’s more to it than just this. The subject is complex, which is why I present an entire course on women’s issues: Feminopathy. There, I teach that when approaching this concern homeopathically, Sepia 200 is the first thought that should come to one’s mind when dealing with such hormonal conditions.
Indeed, Sepia has a reputation for being able to bring a woman to herself again. That is, it can restore the imbalances the endocrine system has undergone. It helps right the wrongs of synthetic hormones. It is used for low libido, vaginal pain, vaginal dryness and most astounding of all, brings a woman, not to her 20-year-old self, but her version of balance.
I have seen Sepia 200 reestablish an interest in the family that has been lost.
I’ve witnessed its ability to give a woman a lilt in her step when dealing with her household duties.
I’ve noted time and again that it melts away irritability and fatigue that burdens women, interestingly at around 4 PM.
It does this over a period of weeks or months, sometimes many, but when the problem is clearly “a Sepia problem,” it acts in a way that can be demonstrably life-changing not just for the woman, but her husband and children as well.
None of us need to live our lives without the joy of taking care of our homes and family. And, we certainly do not need to live without the joy of a loving relationship with our husbands. If it seems our libidos have been sent packing, let’s bring them back home!
You may be asking, “Joette, why are you writing about this particular subject today? It’s Father’s Day!”
EXACTLY! I think there is no better present a husband could receive than enjoying his wife’s enthusiasm again. Don’t you agree?
So, to all you Dads with Audacity — Happy Father’s Day! (With a little wink from me.)
I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.
Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.
Joette is not a physician and the relationship between Joette and her clients is not of prescriber and patient, but as educator and client. It is fully the client's choice whether or not to take advantage of the information Joette presents. Homeopathy doesn't "treat" an illness; it addresses the entire person as a matter of wholeness that is an educational process, not a medical one. Joette believes that the advice and diagnosis of a physician is often in order.

I totally believe this, Joette, and often wonder if my mom had taken Sepia if it would have prevented my parents’ divorce. One can only wish. Although now with my studying I can see she clearly needs Nux Vomica, Calc Carb and possibly Tuberculinum. Thank you for your pro-family posts! Love them!
You bet.
Great works. Been taken for a long time. Stopped twice. Not good I. Two months. Went back on. It. Never took med science drugs just being a 48 year old women. Now it’s not me with libido. Never was an issue for me. I take sepia for well I’m 48 and meno issues. But not libido. How about when the man has libido issues. .
I’ve written on the subject of men. Google my name and men’s libido.
Dear Joette,
Thank you for this blog- what a great Father’s Day topic 😉
Question…if the low libido can be traced back to emotional issues
Stemming from a husband’s past pornography addiction, would you still
Use Sepia 200?
Knowing homeopathy, there’s probably a remedy
For the horrible scourge of pornography addiction and what it can
Do to marriages as well.
Thank you, you have truly changed my life with what you teach.
If it’s not a hormonal problem (as evidenced by other concomitant hormonal symptoms, then Sepia indeed may not be appropriate.
Hi Joette. I really appreciate this post and I’m excited to try the sepia. I’ve had an almost non-existent libido for several years now, which I attributed to chronic health issues. I’ve struggled with infertility and I’m currently battling horrible acne on my neck (I’m assuming due to hormonal imbalance). I’m 44 years old and had a baby at 40. it sounds like sepia might be a good fit for me. I also get really bad pre-menstrual migraines about 24 hours before my period starts. you said to take Sepia 200 “twice weekly.” What does that mean exactly? how many pellets? is it really on 2 times per week? I’m a little confused.
One dose every 3 days is just about right for most. And the number of pills that comprise a dose is printed on the side of the bottle.
Joette, I appreciate the information and good intention, and will check out Sepia for my own issues.
But I’m curious about why you assume (or perhaps want it to be the case?) that all of your female readers with libido/hormonal issues:
A) Are or even want to be in primary relationships, since low libido, mood swings, etc. can affect single women (and those who date or hook up with multiple partners) just as much as coupled women;
B) Are married if they are coupled; and
C) Are heterosexual or otherwise sexually interested in or involved with a man or men, since lesbians and WSWs (women who have sex with women) are if anything more likely than straight women to experience “bed death”.
Also, even in quotes, “wifely duties” is in my opinion a gendered and sexist (bordering on misogynist) term that has little place in the 21st century. Last, not all husbands are fathers, and not all fathers are husbands. Again, I do appreciate the Sepia info, thank you.
‘Cause that’s who I am. If you’re looking for the perspective to which you refer, I’m afraid you’ll not find it here.
Check out the mainstream media instead.
I love this reply Joette!! It’s refreshing to hear someone who can be honest about who they are and what they believe.
My first search in looking for homeopathic remedies is Joette “whatever problem I am having”….works for me almost every time! Thanks for all your free info. Facebook live is always fun too!
Wonderful reply, Joette! That’s one of the reasons I admire you so much.
Thanks for such kind words, Shelley!
Well said Joette!
Such a great reply!
love that, why do liberals have to push their immoral ideas on us?
Becuase they’re woke.
I appreciate your family perspective in all your classes, blogs and answers. Many of us DO live family lives.
What about at age 68?
Yes, but no gurantees.
I feel bad for you, Holly. You have bought into the modern, secular viewpoint of womanhood.
Has the modern woman found happiness in the last 40 to 50 years, or some might argue since the introduction of artificial birth control? Looking around me and watching the news I would say no, women are an unsatisfied, angry lot of people. Looks to me like someone’s hormones are out of whack. Better try some Sepia. Maybe your womanly, God-given dignity will kick in.
I am taking Osphena for vaginal dryness and pelvic pain since I had surgery on my bladder. I feel less and less wanting sex which is very rare for me. I am 62 years old I am love sex. So do you think trying Sepia will help me? I also have a thyroid problem sometimes I feel it has a lot to do with things too. THANK YOU
Osphena. What a pretty name for a synthetic drug that carries noteworthy side effects.
Excuse my criticism of your doctor’s choice but I can barely resist.
I can’t tell you whether Sepia will act for you. We never know definitively. But it carries no side or long term boomerang effects.
Thank you Joette, for all that you do. I am so glad to have stumbled onto your site a few months ago. I am really surprised that your site doesn’t come up more often when searching in google for homeopathic remedies.
Anyway, my question for you: is it okay to take two protocals at the same time? Or should I finish up one before beginning a new one? I’m currently taking Staphysagria (you wrote about recently) for a bothersome c-section incision from having twins 6 years ago (appears to be helping, btw 🙂
Most all of the symptoms you talk about in this article is me, spot on.
Mpore than 1 protocol at a time may be used as long as there is some spacing between taking the medicines. Usually, about 15 min will do it.
Hi Joette! Thank you so much for this post. If the bottle says “take 5 pellets three times per day until symptoms subside” then would your recommendation be 5 pellets once per day twice per week? Or would you recommend 5 pellets three times per day two times per week? I have a consultation set up with you but it’s not until the end of August so I’m trying to do what I can in the meantime but I’m very new to this. Thanks!
Yes I have that same question? What’s a dose? 5 pellets? Or the 5 pellets 3xa day?
I’m not Joette, but the dose is the number of pellets. The frequency is determined by the protocol or usage. In this case, that would be 5 pellets twice a week.
The recommendation on the bottle is probably for an acute condition that the remedy can also treat.
Hi Joette! Thank you so much for this information! I have a consultation set up with you but not until late August so I’m the meantime I’m hoping to learn a little on my own to start making progress. I want to definitely give Sepia a try! The bottle I have says to take 5 pellets three times per day so if I wanted to follow your twice weekly protocol would I be taking 5 pellets 3 times per day twice per week or just 5 pellets per day twice per week? Thank you so much! Can’t wait to learn more. Planning on starting the Good Gut Bad Gut course as well.
The number of pills that comprises a dose is indeed printed on the bottle and is correct, but the manufacturer hasn’t any idea of your needs so they won’t know how often it ought to be taken for this or that. I use it e3 Days.
Hi it’s me again, Diana Lujan. I was on Estrace cream before Osphena, I really would like to go natural due to my pelvic pain and dryness and to build my pelvic wall. I would like to try your protol call if you have any suggestions a long with the low libido.
It’s in the article but if you’d like to learn specifically, I cover this/these conditions in my course, Feminopathy.
No offense here, just the truth. Why do y’all keep sending, get your card, when we are unable to get the cards, then unable to contact you about it because of the -no reply- when we go to the email to let y’all know about it?
Send me a screenshot of the problem you’re having. You are the 1st person to report this problem, so let’s see how we can make this right for you.
I am able to get the remedy cards. Could be the web browser you are using.
Love you Joette!!!
What a lovely thing to say!
To Holly above, I am also very unabashedly liberal and a feminist. In reading Joette’s blog for even a little while, it’s very clear she is politically conservative and religious. It’s her blog, so obviously she can write whatever she wants and we can choose to read it or not. She also provides all of this information about homeopathy for free, so you can always focus on that and skim through what doesn’t interest you.
To Rachel above, wow, your comment seems really uncalled for and not in the spirit of community at all. Holly’s post was very polite, so really there’s no need to accuse her of having “out of whack” hormones and no dignity.
Was referring to feminists who froth at the mouth in anger towards men, America, conservatives and Christians. All of the above are minorities and are verbally abused by mainstream media, culture etc.
I am here to learn from our lovely Joette, same as you, and meant no impertinance towards you or other liberal minded ladies. I humbly apologize for hurt feelings.
Thank you Joette for posting blogs that portray your beliefs without shame. The world, and especially women, need to hear it. You are courageous.
Not unlike most conservatives, honorably and humbly said Rachael.
I am a former liberal and feminist. When I first found Joette in 2012 I, too, took offense to her straight talk because *I* was the problem, not she. I had the mental illness of Cultural Marxism so rammed into my brain. Shortly thereafter the Holy Spirit dealt with me in the way only He can and we began our Christian walk. I am incredibly thankful to have been saved by God’s grace and for the courage of Joette and others like her that have spoken the truth about God’s design for marriage and family.
That’s an awesome testimony!
Love a good testimony! Gives me goose bumps 🙂
To Holly above: I am also a proud liberal and staunch feminist. It is quite clear from reading even one of Joette’s blog entries that she is conservative and religious. She provides a ton of homeopathy information for free on her blog, and it is her blog and she can write whatever she wants from whatever perspective she wants. It is up to us if we choose to read it or not. Personally, I feel quite comfortable reading for homeopathy information and skimming over parts of her blog entries I may not agree with. Low libido is low libido, who cares if Joette writes about “husband and wife,” the info is still there for us all to use as needed.
To Rachel above, Wow! Your comment really isn’t in the spirit of community. Holly posted a polite comment, no need to accuse her of hormonal imbalance or not having dignity. Is there a protocol for rudeness you might be able to take?
I took sepia for a different issue (Monster Mom!), but libido was impacted so generously my husband complained! What a wonderful problem to have.
Thus, my sepia baby was born – a first natural pregnancy in 13 years of marriage and 5 rounds of IVF. 🙂
I never tire of hearing your story; it makes me smile each time.
Thanks for commenting, K.
I love this!! Made me smile and now I’m going to get sepia for my own problems and the subsequent problems they have caused my poor husband!
I have had no libido for many years. After reading your article here I decided to give the Camphora 200 and the Sepia 200 a try. I took one Camphora pill Friday June 15th. Since then I have had issues being able to sleep well. Will this wear off and when? Is there anything I can do to help the process along? I haven’t taken any of the Sepia.
If insomnia is something that has been plaguing in the past and it has gotten worse, I would expect that the increase in the intensity of the condition will simply fall away.
How often did you take sepia200?
Read the article carefully.
This response just made me appreciate you even more than I already do. You are great!
Hi Joette! I hope you don’t mind my asking one more question. I am beginning the gateway class in a couple of weeks and I have a consultation with you at the end of August but in the meantime I have a question. My health has been rather poor over the last 3 years and there are so many symptoms I need to address. How many remedies can I take at the same time? I know you said to wait 15 minutes between taking one remedy and the next but is it possible to wait another 15 minutes and take a third remedy or is that too much for one time? Would love to get on the road to recovery as quickly as possible but also don’t want to overdo.
I use on average about 4 homeopathics in the same schedule, bit if necessary, have used more.
Dear Joette,
I took the sepia200c (Thursday 2pellets and Friday by mistake 3pellets). I felt great. Then on the next Monday, I was feeling well, but I took another dose of 2 pellets. Could this dose that I took when I was feeling better already had a negative effect in my body or I should not worry and wait for a next week to see how I feel?
If I feel fine should I stop taking it? In other words, should only take it if I don’t feel myself?
I wouldn’t spend too much time worrying about the number of pills. Without knowing what your condition is, I couldn’t comment fully but when a condition is chronic, often it takes time (sometimes weeks or months) to re-establish order.
Hi Joette! Will this help from low libido due to breastfeeding? I know bc of prolactin and low estrogen, my libido is next to nothing. I just don’t want the Sepia to interfere with my milk production. Thanks for your feedback!
Sepia is a wonder medicine for postpartum as well.
Hi,Iam a menopausal woman of 48yrs. Had Cervical Hysterectomy with Ovaries intact in 2015. Since than gaining weight and not able to loose it even with diet and intermittent fasting. My main concern is very less libido, severe Hairfall, irritability, Vaginal dryness, vaginal pain and fungal infection with Hormonal Imbalance. Will Sepia 200 help me? Can I use Dr. Reckweg drops or pellets which are easily available in India and in what dosage? Thanks…
I was 1 year postpartum with my second child. Experiencing extreme depression, low libido and a complete inability to have sex with my husband. Sepia 200 saved my marriage within 2-3 weeks. Thank you so much for your work, Joette. I am a new believer in the power of homeopathy.
Do you think this could still help me. Never taken a pill in my life. Mum to 14 aged 31-9. 51 years old, 18mths since last period. Regular hot flushes still. Not an iota of libido. Would love to want my husband again.
I’m not certain what you mean by “still help me”. Homeopathy acts on all ages and circumstances.
Can I use Sapio 30 C instead of the 200?I’ve been taking this epidural 30 see you once a day for about two weeks and it seems to be helping with vaginal dryness and pelvic pain but I’m wondering if I could switch to the 200 now and how long can I use this? I also have a bladder prolapse and I’m hoping it might help with this do you think it could help?
Given your circumstances, you might want to take my course Feminopathy which covers step by step how all of this is addressed.
Thank you for you help, can you please clarify what a dose is? If the bottle says 5 pellets 3xaday is that a dose? Then you do that 2xa week? Or 5 pellets only 2x a week?
As per the bottle from which you’re reading, 1 dose = 5 pellets. It’s just like any medicine.
So 5 pellets only, 2x a week, correct?
Just want to make sure I’m tempted to do 5 pellets 3x a day . I’m excited to get relief!
Thank you for responding:)
That’s correct.
Can one take too much sepia? I have been taking every other day and recently every day. Seems to help my belly fat a little but not completely and I have been taking for months. But have been easily angered lately. Maybe too much sepia???
Yes! you most certainly CAN take Sepia too often. This is so for any homeopathic medicine. They should be used according to protocols only.
Hi Joette. First I want to thank you for giving so generously to all of us. I appreciate your view point and also your sense of humor. I have taken two of your courses, Gateway 1 and 2 and really enjoyed them. I have read your articles on Sepia and researched it a little bit. I have had hot flashes for over 10 years, some night sweats, weight gain, and other issues mentioned. I would like to try Sepia but wonder if it would bring back monthly periods which would be difficult at age 59.Have not had a cycle in 8 years. I am feeling discouraged and wondered what your advice might be. Thank you and I am grateful for all you do. God bless.
I’d need to know more than this in order to take your case so instead, I urge you strongly to consider taking my online course Feminopathy. I not only cover this fully, including the protocols, etc. but many more satellite conditions that accompany this time in a woman’s life.
I have had low libido pretty much our whole marriage. We have a one year old baby girl. For several months after the delivery I was recovering downstairs and sex was painful. I still don’t have much libido but want to take care of my hubby so I try to be open to sex. I just started taking the Sepia but I’m wondering if I need to get off my mini pill in order for it to work? And I’m also wondering if the birth control is what is making me have the low libido?? Thank you!
What’s a mini-pill? It sounds so cute.
Apparently, someone knows how to market to women.
I’d consider dropping anything that interferes with the sacredness of marriage.
Joette, I’d like to try Sepia for low libido after menopause, but I’m fearful that it may bring ovulation and periods back. I know that sounds crazy, but I’d really rather not have a baby in my 50’s! Is there ANY chance Sepia could do that when I’ve not had a period in 18 months?
Thanks!
Are you Sarah of the Old Testament?!
Well you’ve always told us that homeopathy is powerful!!
If one is in the “throes” of perimenopause/menopause and hasn’t had a period for 7 consecutive months, is Sepia 200 a good choice during this transition? I have been taking it once a week for 8 weeks now and still no period. I would assume this means I am in the midst of womanly change and periods won’t resume. However, I don’t fit the picture of Sepia..I researched that Sepia or Ammonium Carb are good choices for this time of change. I only took Ammonium Carb one time many months ago and felt a strange “exploding” sensation in my abdomen…so I stopped after only one dose. This time of life is so complicated with insomnia, heart palpitations, stress (which point to Coffea 200) and bloating/weight gain (which sometimes Nux vomica 200 help at night), but going down a “rabbit hole” as you put it is a big problem for me.
This case requires more than a simple medicine and BAM! it’s done. This is what I’d call case management. Should you be interested in knowing how to delve into deeper conditions, my online course, Feminopathy covers this fully.
Thank you, Joette. Feminopathy is one course I have yet to purchase (I have done GWI, GWII, Mindful,Survivalist and Kids). Guess that will be my next course of study!
Hi Joette!
Is sepia safe to take during pregnancy? I’ve heard conflicting arguments and am curious to know more before trying it. Thank you!
It’s one of the medicines that need to be used with a full understanding of its scope. I urge those who are not seasoned in the use of homeopathy to avoid its use during pregnancy.
Hi, I am 35 years old and was recently diagnosed with stage four hormone positive breast cancer. I am already in remission but the treatment put me into medical menopause, and I am told that I must continue the treatment to prevent the cancer from returning. Because of this I have no libido and pain during sex. I would like to try this Sepia but I can not use anything that has or will increase my estrogen levels. I have read about this and it says it balances hormones, so I am not sure if it is something I can use or not. I am new to all of this homeopathic medicine, but very interested in learning more! Thank you!
In your case, there’s a little more to it than simply deciding to take a homeopathic for low libido.
I have the same question as Angela above and would very much appreciate any information you can provide Joette. Thank you for you incredible blog!
Could Sepia still be a good choice if low or, more accurately, nearly-non-existent libido has been an issue even BEFORE having kids? (Never had birth control pills.) It’s not like I lost it, it’s like I never really had it, despite having very loving relationship.
Yes, its possible but I urge you to read up on the remedy so you have a full, fleshed-out picture of what it covers.
Hello Josette,
I know you do not support birth control in the form of pills, etc.
I am nearly six weeks post partum and am considering which birth control method to try. I like the idea of the “natural method,” but am terrified of messing up and getting pregnant again right now.
I just had a set of twins and I have five children.
Do you know if Sephora will work even if I decide to try the pill this time?
Thank you.
I meant *sephia.
I’m not sure I understand what your question is but I urge you to consider either reading fully on natural family planning or taking a course before giving up on it. It’s more effective than most assume.
Joette, I am 40 years old; diagnosed last summer with one submucosal fibroid that causes severe pain, bleeding and now weight gain. I have taken your feminopathy course and I’ve been working with a classical homeopathy for most of this year. My issue is that I’m still struggling to resolve my fibroid and I’m completely exhausted. I want to avoid a hysterectomy at all costs but I’m frustrated and tired of suffering. I have tried the protocols but after several months of no improvement, I began working with a homeopath. Classical is slow but my homeopath insists this condition can be reversed. I guess my question is, are there times in your experience where homeopathy fails to act and surgery becomes necessary? Am I being impatient? I was diagnosed 18 months ago and I’m not doing any better.
Yes, there are times when surgery is the best solution. Homeopathy isn’t infallible.
Having said this, chronic conditions can often take more than several months. I’m happy that you’re seeing a homeopath. What you should notice is that the condition gets a little better here and a little better there but not fully resolved, followed by a bit more improvement and more after that.
Watch for subtle changes that help to indicate that the condition is improving.
