A Student’s Success Story: Tick Bite Recovery with Practical Homeopathy®

Print This Blog

Tick bites are a universal concern during the summer months. My articles on tick bites and Lyme get more traffic this time of year than almost any other topic.

Yet, it’s one thing for me to tell you about my success stories from clinical experience. My successes after decades of practice are probably somewhat expected. However, it’s another thing entirely for me to share a success story from the direct experience of one of my students.

This is the beauty of Practical Homeopathy®. With a little education, anyone can demonstrate health care autonomy when common conditions, such as tick bites, occur in their family. With even more education, such as is available in my Protocol Courses or in The Academy of Practical Homeopathy®, the sky’s the limit.

Today, I’m going to share a story from Allison M., one of my Gateway students. Allison obviously has plenty of guts, spunk, and moxie, and a strong grasp of the basics of Practical Homeopathy®. Read — in her own words — what happened. And to think … she started out just like you.

Joette Calabrese, Practical Homeopathy®

“I was introduced to homeopathy in 2019 by one of my clients, Chris. I felt the pull to learn more immediately and registered for Gateway I and II in a group setting and completed the program with a lot of excitement.

“I continue to follow Joette and have been practicing homeopathy on myself and my family for six years. I wasn’t fearful through C[- – – -]. I’ve treated normal ailments — even refrained from providing my son Rx pain meds following surgery where he had a screw put in his hand — all because of what I’ve learned through Joette and her community. Homeopathy has always won.

“Most recently for me I noticed a small bump on my upper right arm the week after the 4th of July. It wasn’t there before and thought maybe a mosquito bite and asked my husband if it was a bad bite, he said, ‘No, just a bump.’

“A couple days later, on Saturday night, I noticed a bull's eye in that same space where I felt the bump the other night. To be honest, I was a little anxious, and then I thought, “Okay, this is either ringworm, a tick bite or allergic reaction to a mosquito.”

“Immediately, I was looking for Ledum 200, only not successful because I remember using the last of it for my son recently, and I didn't reorder.

“My second thought was Apis, and I had it in 30. Put some Calendula on it and went to bed.

“When I woke up Sunday morning, the bullseye was still there. No improvement and more prominent. I know this rattled me, and it really rattled my husband, especially with all the concerns with ticks and Lyme disease lately …

“I was hitting a wall and couldn’t think, so I reached out to a friend of mine in the community who knows homeopathy quite well. Hating to disturb her on a Sunday, I sent a quick text for support.

“While my husband and I were heading out the door to go to Urgent Care my phone rang. She immediately calmed me down, asking questions. I mentioned not wanting to go to Urgent Care, but I wasn't thinking straight, and I allowed the fear to get into my head.

“I told her I didn’t have Ledum; she asked if I had Hepar sulph 200, and I said yes.

“ ‘Do you have Hypericum 200?’ I said, ‘Yes.’

“ ‘Do you have Arsenicum album 200?’ I said, ‘No, I do have 30.’ So, as Joette always says, ‘Use what you have until you get what you need.’

“I began dosing every 15 minutes for 45 minutes, and then I filled a large glass jar with water and 10 pellets of the remedies. Here’s a picture of my arm on Sunday afternoon at 2:23 pm:

“The area was still red, still warm, only I could tell it was getting better. I would also add it was itchy, almost like when I get a cold sore. Before it appears, I feel an itching on the inside of my lip.

“I continued to water dose, and here's what my arm looked like at 5:24 pm on Sunday:

“I began to get a headache, and while my husband was making dinner, I decided to lay down for about 30 minutes. I ended up waking up after midnight — no dinner — and went back to bed. “When I woke on Monday morning, I took a picture of my arm. Here’s that picture — not even 24 hours later — at 8:22 am on Monday:

“It's a remarkable improvement! In less than 24 hours, and the healing continued. By Monday night at 7:10 pm, it was almost gone!

“All my pictures are taken in different lighting, so forgive me, but you can see the remedies were working, and I was getting well.

No ER, no Urgent Care, no doctor. Just in the confines of my own home, I was able to heal myself with no Rx antibiotics or permanent record.

“There it is … homeopathy for the win.

“What I realized through these last few days is how horribly hardwired and programmed we’ve become. It’s crazy to think how we, without thinking, run to an Urgent Care or the ER or a doctor for answers to things we experience — ailments or illness ourselves or with our families — and we give up control so easy and follow blindly in what they prescribe.

“Homeopathy gives us the knowledge, remedies and courage to heal ourselves and our loved ones in a gentle manner and [without] further injury to other organs in our bodies.

“I’m grateful to my client Chris, who, had she not shared Joette and homeopathy with me, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. I'm so grateful to Joette, for her generous sharing of information and teaching all of us the importance of Practical Homeopathy, and to my friend who called when I needed her. She gave me the nudge I needed to remind me I knew exactly what to do with remedies I already had.”*

Joette Calabrese, Practical Homeopathy®

Well done, Allison. We don’t disregard the aid of a good doctor, and what you accomplished could certainly have been done in tandem with conventional medical care. Had you gone for it, you could have turned the staff on to homeopathy, too!

But your homeopathic study has paid off.

This, my friends, is a beautiful example of Practical Homeopathy® at work. Not only did Allison know what to do, but she also had the benefit of an invaluable like-minded friend to help her when she was rattled.

Indeed, that’s the beauty of Gateway to Practical Homeopathy®: A Guided Study Group Curriculum. Education plus a community of support is a priceless combination. If you’ve been considering joining a Gateway group to enable you to have this kind of health care freedom, there is no better time than the present. Emergencies don’t make appointments. Be prepared.

  1. I was trying to get a feel for when the tick bite occurred. Was it this last July a few weeks ago? Not everyone gets a bullseye rash with Lyme. Just because the rash disappears doesn’t mean the spirochetes are all dead. Given the horrendous nature of Lyme and coinfections I would take the doxycycline ASAP.

Once you know these medicines, and I mean really study up in your materia medica that has been accumulated for over 200 years of clinical practices, you’ll understand that we don’t use them to work on a superficial level. When the condition is corrected, it’s corrected.

      1. But is it worth the risk? I don’t think so. I understand conditions, but these are living creatures wreaking havoc and they need to die. They can lie dormant for a time giving a false sense of security and then emerge. By that time it’s way too late. Opting for an antibiotic is not an admission of failure.

  2. The redness is gone, but what about Lyme and other tick-borne illnesses? The redness and bite are one area of concern, but the broader concern would be tick-borne illnesses. Are we assuming that because the redness is gone the risk from the bite is eliminated?

  3. Wow! That’s great! So mixed hepar sulph 200 + hypericum 200 + arsenicum album 200 all together in the SAME water bottle?

    1. Joette Calabrese, PHom M

I can’t say precisely how she mixed them but generally we mix Hypericum 200 with Arsenicum album 200. Its a Banerji Protocol.

    2. have you found a way to help alpha gal patients? 8 desperately want to get rid this condition. thank you, Desiree

Key in the words Joette Calabrese and the name of the condition to find what I’ve written.

It would help if this was more explicit: ”
“I told her I didn’t have Ledum; she asked if I had Hepar sulph 200, and I said yes.

“ ‘Do you have Hypericum 200?’ I said, ‘Yes.’

“ ‘Do you have Arsenicum album 200?’ I said, ‘No, I do have 30.’ So, as Joette always says, ‘Use what you have until you get what you need.’

“I began dosing every 15 minutes for 45 minutes, (together or one after another or???)and then I filled a large glass jar with water and 10 pellets of the remedies (of each or ??? and water dosing how often and how much??). “

  5. I too am incredibly thankful for all that Joette has shared online. I’ve been looking up (googling) answers that Joette has put up for years. Many friends have become sick from tick bites in the upstate NY area. I have shared what I’ve learned and will continue to do so. I’m in my 80s and so many of my friends are older. It’s harder, I think, for older people who’ve used allopathic (regular) medicine to ”believe” in something they consider to be ”new”. I do explain that it’s been an honored form of medicine for 250 years, but still. What can I say? I’ve been using homeopathic remedies for 40 years and more so since I accidentally ”found” Joette who has broadened my understanding and added hugely in the number of remedies I now use. With this story from Allison I would love to know if she used her ”water dosage” again after her 6 hour nap? And I’d also love to know if she means she put 10 pellets of EACH remedy (HSC 200, Hypericum 200 and Arsenicum 30) into her glass of water for her water dosage. I assume she meant that she would then sip on that water every 15 minutes or so. Thank you Allison for taking the time to take those invaluable photos and keeping notes on your remedies and times ! This is a great help. candi in New Mexico

  6. which remedies did she take and did she dose them together? “I told her I didn’t have Ledum; she asked if I had Hepar sulph 200, and I said yes.

“ ‘Do you have Hypericum 200?’ I said, ‘Yes.’

“ ‘Do you have Arsenicum album 200?’ I said, ‘No, I do have 30.’ So, as Joette always says, ‘Use what you have until you get what you need.’

  7. That’s great! She only used the remedies for 24 hours? She didn’t need to continue for a while to make sure the infection wasn’t still in her body? Joette’s Lyme disease protocol is used much longer.🧐

  8. Hello thank you very much for sharing this information but I would also like to know if what she meant was that she mixed those remedies together and took them in water at the same time? and how many more times after the initial 45 minutes did she take it?
    Thank you,

    Julia

  9. Susanna Kresina

Like others, I’d be hesitant to say “it worked” simply because the rash/bite sight improved in appearance. I’ve used the Tick Bite protocol several times and thus far I’ve not contracted Lyme–so I’m thankful for it! (https://joettecalabrese.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Joette_Calabrese_LedumPalustre200c_Tick-Bite-Lyme.pdf) It’s a process that takes a few months — not difficult, but I needed to have notifications on my phone to remind me during month 2 and 3.

    1. I thought the Tick protocol was only Ledum 200c.
      Why Arsenicum and Hypericum instead?
Is there more explanation in another blog post

      Thanks.

  10. I gave my dog Ledum 200 after a tick bite. I tried to follow the protocol, but missed a few. At a wellness visit, she tested for Lyme. After further testing, it showed she HAD Lyme, but it was gone! A year later at the wellness check up…..No trace of Lyme disease. It works.
