My family and I keep ducks and chickens. Years ago, we had a fox problem; in particular, one who was cheekily thinning out our little band of fowl.
One day, I was at my desk meeting with a client and out of the corner of my eye, I saw what looked like a skirmish. When I stood up, I saw that a healthy red fox (healthy due to its unwelcome consumption of our free-range chickens!) had one of our ducks in its mouth by the neck and was trotting off with her towards the pond.
They were no more than 10 feet away from me. Instinctively I yelled out, “Drop that duck!” The moment I uttered the words, it occurred to me it was a silly command because, what fox would do such a thing, simply because I demanded it?
To my surprise, the fox did it! He dropped the duck, ran off, and the duck was not the least bit harmed! She quacked away toward the rest of the flock and carried on about her day.
Until that moment, I had no idea I had so much command over a fox. I didn’t even know they spoke English!
All too often, we don’t recognize our own authority. It’s not until we flex our intrinsic inner power that we get a true picture of our inherent abilities.
It’s no different with our health. So many times I hear, “But the doctor told me to,” implying there was no other choice but to follow their authoritative directive. What you (like many) don’t understand is the decision is yours, not the doctor’s.
After all, it is your health, not someone else’s, and you must live the rest of your life with the long-term side-effects of such an acquiescence. The good news is, with some effort, you can learn enough to avoid the clutches of today's modern medicine.
Now back to that pesky fox …
Later that same day, my husband fetched the (un)lucky duck to examine her because if there was evidence the fox had penetrated her skin with his teeth, it would have been important to treat her.
We found a few small bite marks that could potentially cause infection, so I made a mixture of Ledum palustre 200 and with an eyedropper, gave her a few squirts. For the next week, I did the same, once to twice daily.
The mixture I made was a dose of Ledum into about a half-ounce of water, which I then allowed to dissolve. A simple dropper full was what I shot into her mouth.
This happened about four years ago and I'm happy to report, this (now) lucky duck is still with us today.
There are two points I want to make here:
1) Ledum palustre is one of the premier homeopathics for puncture wounds, which includes bites from an animal; any animal even tick bites (http://joettecalabrese.com/blog/protocol-lyme-disease-using-homeopathy/). It has a history of protecting from even the most virile diseases, such as tetanus and rabies.
2) Arnica montana and Hypericum perforatum are the foremost medicines to prevent tetanus and infections from bites.
What's most vital though is your overall health, and that of your family's; it's up to you to learn as much as you can about protecting it from synthetic drugs and other superfluous affronts.
Don’t let a “foxy” industry persuade your better judgment simply because you've had prolonged exposure to their particular brand of drugs and lifestyle.
Learn the alternatives to each conventional prescribed drug; there is always (and I mean ALWAYS) an alternative, and the homeopathic is often one that will correct the problem, rather than merely manage the symptoms.
Acknowledge it. Learn it. Apply it.
My goal is to turn 100,000 new families on to using Homeopathy by 2020. That’s 25,000 each year.
Join me in my effort to change the world. Turn your friends on to Homeopathy, and count on it as your medicine of choice.
Let's make the world a synthetic drug-free zone. We'll all be better for it!
Here are reference pages from the Clinical Chapter of Homeopathic Clinical Repertory, Robin Murphy, N.D. indicating the use of Ledum, Arnica and Hypericum.
Should you be interested in the medical rationale for using them as preventives of tetanus, here is the tetanus rubric as well.
I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.
Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.
Joette is not a physician and the relationship between Joette and her clients is not of prescriber and patient, but as educator and client. It is fully the client's choice whether or not to take advantage of the information Joette presents. Homeopathy doesn't "treat" an illness; it addresses the entire person as a matter of wholeness that is an educational process, not a medical one. Joette believes that the advice and diagnosis of a physician is often in order.

How often and how long do you take the above for tetnanus, for lyme? Do you have to be taking before coming in contact with these bacteria, or after? If you have to take these before infection, is it for a limited time to provide “immunity”, or is “immunity” possible? Thanks for everything you do for us.
I offered the amount of time I gave Ledum to our duck. When it comes to Lyme, read the directions again because it matters whether its a fresh bite or an established case.
The medicine is used as needed, not as a just in case measure.
Great article,which prompts my question.
What determines whether to us a 30C or 200C?
Thanks
Chantal
Clinical experience.
all my containers are 30c should I go out and by 200c instead
If you expect the kind of results that I discuss, potency matters. Should you be interested, we sell a kit of 50 remedies that have only 200 potency in our office. You may call us at 716.941.1045 during office hours EST and have one shipped in a jiffy. Otherwise, try Amazon for individual bottles.
Thank you for the answer to my question I will be sure to look into it. I am using your recommendations for the lyme protocol with 30c right now as I took 2 ticks off my dog. I have been using that protocol for about 2 yrs now and both my dogs have are lyme free thanks so much
Rhus tox 30 and Ars album 30
Yes! Also good. I’m also partial to Hypericum 200 mixed with Arsenicum 200.
Mrs. Calabrese,
Would it be a solid choice to routinely use HyperArs instead of Hypericum for tetanus prevention? HyperArs seems superior for this application, do you ever prefer Hypericum by itself?
Thank you so much!
~ Rachel
I had been taught to use Hypericum alone but it was from the Banerjis that I learned to mix them. I bow to their knowledge.
Do you have recommended dosages?
If you’re asking me how many pills, it is printed on the outside of the bottle.
so if an (unvaccinated) child gets a wound would a decent response be 30c of hypericum, arnica, and ledum? maybe a few times that day and the next? DH and I have been deliberating on if & when to get her Tetanus vaccine and I would love to have a “first response” that is homeopathic!!
I use 200 c potency.
I take tramadol and amitriptyline for neuropathy is there a homeopathic remedy for that. I want to get off of this medicine. I’m seeing an acupuncturist and it’s helping but I still have to take the drugs. Thank you for any help you can give me.
Neuropathy is a good subject to cover on this blog. I’ll plan to write on it soon.
Thank you. I’ll be watching ?
I like your goal to turn 100,000 new families on to Homeopathy! Yippee! I keep spreading the word and your name!
THanks Margaret and a happy spring to you and your lovely family.
Yes! Please advise on neuropathy. My husband and mother-in-law both struggle with this. Thanks!!
I just wanted to clarify what is meant by “preventative.” Should the protocol for tetanus be taken BEFORE a bite to prevent the expression of the disease AFTER a bite or be taken immediately AFTER a bite to prevent the disease from expressing or progressing. From taking your courses, I assume the latter, but I wanted to make sure.
Yes, the latter.
Thank you so much for this!! Tetanus is the one disease for which there is a vaccine that our farming family is most likely to encounter, and the one I have been the most nervous about. I am so thankful to have found your courses and resources here introducing our family to a safe alternative for most of our medical needs. Thanks again for all you do, and you can count our family as one of your 100,000. 🙂
THanks to you too, Molly. Only 99,000 left.
Thank you very much for your devotion. I hope that more people will take to more natural approaches in treating disease. I took a 35hr course when my youngest son was born, 20 years ago. And studied a lot more since then. Homeopathy is my first choice for everything, I use it for my grandchildren too. More power to you in achieving your goal. Best wishes to you.
Go Lucy!
Hi Joette thanks for another great blog. You.mentioned Ledum in 200. Can you also share what is the potency recommended for Arnica and Hyperium?
Yes; I usually use 200 but if there’s severe pain then I use Hypericum 1M and have been known to use even 10M for when its excruciating.
Thank you!
Did you write an article on neuropathy yet?
Have I promised that?
Maybe not promised, but something to the effect, “Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Neuropathy is a good subject to cover on this blog. I’ll plan to write on it”
I’m hoping to help my grandmother with neuropathy.
I’m taking sulphuric acid 200c for acne, it seems to be getting worse, with unusual breakouts, after a few weeks, and no noticeable improvement. Should I discontinue use? I think I need to take the feminopathy course.
When a homeopathic “isn’t working” it means its ill chosen and its use should be halted.
Hahahaha! Oh, Joette! That is so funny but really great.
Are these remedies covered in your new book?
Yes.
Mrs. Calabrese,
I have heard people say that tetanus can be a significant risk from any puncture wound or bite; risky enough that prophylaxis should be taken after ANY bite occurs, even from one so tiny and ordinary as the common house ant.
This seems impractical & overkill to me, but I’d love to know your thoughts. Do you believe that level of vigilance is necessary?
Thank you!
~ Rachel
I wouldn’t call that vigilance or even overkill; I’d call it the outcome of a society that has more recently gone into health hysteria.
If many had their way, we’d camp out in doctors’ offices getting tested for e. little bump, scratch and irregularity inside and out and of course being treated for them all as well.
What a way to live!
Your instincts are correct.
Great story , great attitude , good medicine. TY
