Trick and Treating with Our Teething Tablets

You may have heard recently one of my favorite homeopathic pharmacies — Hyland’s Homeopathic — has voluntarily removed one of their most popular and best-selling combination remedies from all U.S. shelves.

To be clear, it was a voluntary removal — one made by Hyland’s. (Link to their letter here: http://www.hylands.com/hylands-discontinues-teething-tablets-and-gels)

Hyland’s teething tablets are safe, effective, and wonderful medicines every mother with babies should have in their home.

So what is all the hullabaloo about? Why would Hyland’s remove this gentle and effective homeopathic medicine from U.S. shelves?

Well, that’s a great question to ask the FDA.

We, my friends, have all been caught in the age-old-game of “Trick and Treat.”

Trick #1:  A Calculating Way of Pointing the Finger without Evidence

Rather than providing evidence to explain what data and research has been conducted to determine why this homeopathic medicine might be unsafe, the FDA has simply said that “Consumers should seek medical attention immediately if their child experiences seizures, difficulty breathing, lethargy, excessive sleepiness, muscle weakness, skin flushing, constipation, difficulty urinating, or agitation after using homeopathic teething tablets or gels.”

Difficulty breathing?! Seizures?! Count me out, right? Just reading those symptoms would freak any normal mother out.

But look at the wording carefully:

There is no actual evidence-based claim being made that the tablets really cause harm. Instead, it’s just compelling you to at least question the product; a practice of irrational thinking and manipulation.

Remember, when the original substance is in its gross state it is often indeed a poison, but when made using the pharmacological homeopathic formula the threat is removed. That, my friends, is the essence of what homeopathy is … highly diluted, mathematically, pharmacologically, responsibly made medicine.

Additionally, if I were to tell you that all the homeopathic ingredients in the teething tablets have been FDA approved for decades (and that research about them has been around since the late 1700s), then one would logically surmise that if there had been any known side effects, these would have been illuminated by now.

Indeed, there’s been plenty of time to come up with ONE SINGLE serious and negative side effect or death.

Just one case, please.

We would have SOME shred of evidence that the specific homeopathic ingredients in Hyland’s teething tablets — from homeopathically-prepared Calc phos 6X to Belladonna 12X — would be dangerous. And yet there is nothing!

Trick #2: A Ploy to Deceive

In this case, Hyland’s isn’t even “presumed innocent until proven guilty.” Instead, the FDA has effectively scared moms into casting a judgmental eye on innocent and legitimate medicine.

It really is no better than common gossip and, unfortunately, people are quick to believe the bad things they hear about good people.

In this case, the one being burned at the stake is Hyland’s.

And trust me, mothers across America will have a lot more sleepless nights with teething babies, all thanks to this ploy.

Trick #3: The “Treat”ment

If you carefully read the “news articles” that are warning uninformed mothers against this medicine, you will see that they often conclude with a carefully crafted solution: Acetaminophen/Tylenol; the purported “saviors.”

Unbeknownst to you, their plot leads you straight into the carefully crafted conclusion: Once you’ve been fully tricked, a “treat” or their treatment is offered — otherwise referred to as the “safer alternative.”

Lest you be deceived, the “safer solution” has an ACTUAL proven list of known side effects, all that have been reported and printed by none other than the FDA themselves. I’ve discussed them here in my older newsletters and blog articles: https://joettecalabrese.com/email/midMayEzine.html

And to make matters worse, certainly, the pharmaceutical industry has a ghoulish legacy of offering dangerous drugs for the pain management of teething babies.

Most noteworthy are Bayer’s Heroine (used as a pain killer) and Mrs. Winslow’s Soothing Syrup, which included dandy ingredients such as morphine and large amounts of alcohol.

I won’t take time to add up the death toll related to these pharmaceutical teething treatments, but I will spend time directing you to articles about the dangers of Tylenol for children.

Here’s one: http://www.livestrong.com/article/254116-dangers-of-tylenol-for-infants/.

I also encourage you to do your own research on the internet; I guarantee you’ll find plenty to worry about if you choose synthetic drugs over homeopathy.

Do a little homework and you’ll see which products are truly scary and just who’s tricking whom. Then make your own decision.

Warmly,

P.S. I personally used this very same Hyland’s teething product for my three children instead of the “'treat'ment plan” offered by the pharmaceutical industry and pediatricians.

P.P.S. Make this product yourself! Find out what the ingredients are in Hyland’s Teething Tablets and buy each one of them individually. A dose of each, administered simultaneously, will be the same as the combo product. There you have it. Your own teething tablets at a fraction of the cost of drugs and no side effects.

I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.
