If you don’t believe that homeopathy can uproot Lyme disease, this week’s blog is not for you.

But if you’re like me and know that homeopathy has cured the likes of cholera, dysentery, mono, strep, influenza and other such infective illnesses, then read on, and I’ll share with you what I have learned and used regarding homeopathy and Lyme.

I will not discuss long-term, chronic Lyme as this is something a seasoned homeopath would need to be consulted on personally. Having said this, I’ve seen some remarkable cases that were many years old come round with good homeopathic treatment.

Let’s start with what can be done at the onset of the tick bite. Follow the most recent medical recommendations for removing the tick and do so as soon as possible. Save the tick by placing it in a covered jar with either 180 proof vodka, grain alcohol or brandy and label the date, on whom it was found and where on the body.

If all else fails (which is unlikely), the tick can be made into a homeopathic remedy. This is actually known as isopathy, but it works under similar principles. I’ll discuss how this kind of remedy is made in a forthcoming blog. But for now, just keep the tick in a jar.

I got a little ahead of myself; simultaneously while removing the tick, I have administered the first dose of Ledum palustre 200C. There are slightly differing views on how often the remedies should be taken, but I’ll give you one that I learned years ago and have used for my family, including more than many times on Buster, The Bad Office Dog.

Buster the bad office dog

Buster, The Bad Office Dog

Step 1:

Start with Ledum palustre 200C: This is taken every 3 hours for the first day, followed by twice daily for a week. This is then used twice weekly for a month and then once per week for another month.

This is probably overkill but worth the extra effort to be certain. Ledum 200 is the premier remedy for any kind of animal bite.

If the bite was rather recent (say a few weeks ago), this measure has been 100% effective so far in my experience. We live in the country, have plenty of deer and other critters, and our woods are considered a Lyme tick mecca.

If I thought that someone in my family had Lyme that was older* and more entrenched, I’d still follow Step 1 and add Step 2 at any time after using Ledum. But I don’t believe Step 2 is necessary if the tick was discovered in the last few days or so.

Step 2: Aurum arsenicum 200*, twice daily for one week and in the same manner as Ledum. Aurum arsenicum is a capital choice for when a poisonous infection arises, and this is one of those times.

Step 3: For older cases, in which it is critical to take all precautions because illness has set in, the remedy made from the Lyme tick is called either Borrelia 30 or simply Lyme Nosode 30. It is used right along with the previous remedies.

The protocol is to take Borellia once per day for three days and then stop, for a total of three doses. This protocol states that this may need to be repeated every few months if the symptoms remain.

In older cases of Lyme, we see arthritis, chronic fatigue, tingling, dizziness and many other maladies. These should be treated specifically with the homeopathic protocols for each of these symptoms, along with the above procedures.

How effective are these measures? Well, so far, I’ve not seen a single case of Lyme present when Step 1 is employed.

In older cases, it’s a matter of how entrenched the disease is, how many antibiotics and other allopathic drugs have been employed and the general vital force of the person.

All in all, I’ve witnessed recovery in many of my clients/students.

Ok, super short. Super easy. And super useful. If you know someone who should have this information, please pass it along. I write these blogs with no advertising dollars, therefore, no income from them, in hopes of getting folks to simply spread the word.

Please spread the good news of homeopathy and how to cure your family yourself.

And then have a great summer!

_____________________________________________________________________________

Given that most folks who have been diagnosed with Lyme have had rounds of antibiotics, many suffer from long-term gut dysbiosis. This can cause new symptoms and deepening disease. Homeopathy has a history of being able to correct this.

I consider correcting gut problems my personal and professional crusade. Should you be interested in exploring how to do this for yourself click here.

*1.   *Three years ago when I wrote this blog, it never occurred to me that diagnoses of Lyme Disease would change so profoundly. Now some people believe that they have had chronic Lyme for 30 years (or even have inherited it genetically from a parent). When I mentioned “older” cases, I never intended for “older” to mean more than six months or so. This article applies to acute Lyme Disease, not what today is considered chronic Lyme.

*2.   *Unfortunately, although it was readily available when this blog was originally published, Aurum arsenicum 200C is now extremely difficult to find. In fact, now the only way I know to get it is from a British homeopathic pharmacy or on a non-retail basis from OHM Pharma, which is reserved for professionals and my students and clients.

Believe me, I would never do that to you — recommend a remedy that you couldn’t easily find. So instead, let me share with you a Banerji Protocol for Lyme Disease which can serve as an excellent second step in addition to the Ledum: Hypericum perforatum mixed with Arsenicum album. Take this twice daily for a week, and then tapering in the same manner as the Ledum.

I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.

Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.

This is great – people have been waiting for this and I hope the word will get out!

    Thank you!

  2. TJ says:

I have a question about the directions for giving Aurum arsenicum. It says “twice daily for one week and in the same manner as Ledum.” Does this mean skip the every three hours the first day, but after the twice a day for a week go on to give twice a week for a month and once a week for a month?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Yes, but you only use the Aurum Arsenicum if you know the person has diagnosed Lyme disease. Ledum is used to protect against Lyme disease, as well as open the case for someone who has a diagnosed case. Were as Aurum Asenicum is used for someone with diagnose Lyme.

      1. Ruth says:

Joette can you please tell me do I take the step 2 after completing step 1..so a couple of months later or at the same time..sorry confused.

          Read the article carefully.

          1. Dee says:

I have the same question as the article is not clear. If the bite is a few weeks old and you know you need both steps, can they be done at the same time? Or complete Ledum protocol first and then add Step 2?

          2. Sun says:

My son had sudden onset of OCD, vocal tics, aggression, micropsia, picky eating. Doing much better. But how can I calm their fast moving brain and tunnel vision? My functional nutritionist friend mentioned strep, Lyme, PANDAS.

In my online courses, “Mindful Homeopathy” and “Alternative to Antibiotics” I teach how to approach these conditions.

        2. John R says:

I have the same question. I was diagnosed with Lyme so do I dostep 1 and step 2 at the same time?

          1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

I realize that the way I wrote this by laying out the information in steps, is confusing. Some day I’ll restructure it but until then follow the directions by choosing where you are in the process. Don’t use them all.

        Good Day Joette Calabrise,HMC,CCH,RSHom(Na).
I was diagnosed with Lyme on 08/18/2021 after two
Weeks of doxy 100 mg twice a day I still have left
Sublingual node enlarged and slide with very low pain
From time to time. As per medical it should resolve on it
        Own.
I decided to f/ u with Your protocol and discovered
Aurum arsenicosum 200c is it good substitute for aurum
Arsenicum.? If it is I would like to share information.

        1. Tiariana says:

Arsenicum and arsenicosum mean the same thing 🙂

      3. Lenzi Zeitzmann says:

Hi my daughter is showing a pattern with tick bites – gets diarrhea and then rash all over. It’s happened twice now.. 10 days ago was bit and started right away with the protocol as I had it on hand from last time. This time the diarrhea and rash were delayed but stronger. Started once I backed off to one dose twice a week. Would you suggest starting the other remedy now or maybe even increasing the dose of the ledum?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

Without fully taking the case I can’t advise you but I teach my students that when twice-daily acts and once-daily doesn’t, it’s usually an indication that twice-daily is what is needed.

      4. Shanyn Carey Gene Wolfe says:

I believe my cat has Lyme. I already spent all my money at the emergency vet & I called and asked if they tested for Lyme when they did his blood work & they said no. UGH. He’s QuaziFeral. He lives in our house at night but spends the days outside being a cat. He’s 2 years old. He is EXHAUSTED. Hasnt eaten in 3 days. Only a few sips of water. Withdrawn. Walking crooked. We live in Eastern NC in the woods surrounded by rodents, deer, ticks, etc. Is this protocol safe for cats?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, PHom M says:

The protocols I teach are generally used for all ages and species.
Given that homeopathy is medicine and not supplements, etc. I urge folks to use these medicines with medical justification.

  3. Annette says:

having had lymes and two other tick infections before and now trying to protect my baby from them I love this. I know homeopathy is generally safe for children…..would you be able to do this same protocol for a toddler?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      Always the same.

      1. april says:

hi, my daughter is 6 years old and I noticed a bullseye ring on her leg yesterday. By the end of the day the ring was completely gone. My girlfriend who is a Lyme disease advocates that it is definitely Lyme disease. her doctor is not giving her amoxicillin until after test results come back. Not being at all crazy about any biotics or amoxicillin I would much rather go to the homeopathic brown and was suggested using Ledum Palustre. as per your instructions above do you suggest starting her immediately on the dosage you suggest? thank you

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I can’t take her case here, but I can share that I have used Ledum for any insect bite, whether it is from a Lyme tic or not and even not knowing exactly the cause.

        2. Valerie Pitcock says:

Would a 17 month old who has the bullseye rash and has been on antibiotics for 1.5 weeks get the same doses as an adult?

  4. Donna says:

This is great information especially for those of us who live in Lyme disease areas. I know I am always concerned about tick bites for my 4 dogs and I avoid hiking or walking them where I know tick are are rampant. I do pull an occassional tick out of each of them but never know if they actually carry the dreaded Lyme disease. Thanks Joette for taking the time to educate us on this really important health risk.

  5. Kate M says:

Thank you so much, Joette! Lyme’s is scary stuff, and I’m so excited to have this information and be able to share it with others in the family!

  6. Kathy says:

Yes, thank you, Joette! We live in Missouri so lots of ticks, though fortunately, not very many deer ticks where we are. Our dog/cows may benefit from Ledum. May I ask the best way to give homeopathics to your animals?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

There are a couple of different ways. Either in the mouth or in their water where you are sure they will get it throughout the day.
Figure 4 pills for every ounce of water.

  7. VICKI says:

    Joette

Question: you made the point of making the reference to an “experienced homeopath.” However, I consider you an “experienced homeopath,” but I’d like further clarification because a woman on my kefir group asked a question a few days ago about giving kefir to her three-year old child who has Lyme Disease.

I want you to tell me whether I should or should not make the referral. I’m sorry I cannot provide any information that the child is 3 and has Lyme Disease.

    Best,
    Vicki

  8. VICKI says:

    Ooops….

I said, “I want you to tell me whether I should or should not make the referral. I’m sorry I cannot provide any information that the child is 3 and has Lyme Disease.”

I meant to say “I want you to tell me whether I should or should not make the referral. I’m sorry I cannot provide any information other than 1) the child is 3 and 2) has Lyme Disease.

    Best again!
    Vicki

I was in your position several weeks ago.
One of my friends told me to call Joette’s office and request a quick call with Joette.
Her staff was great. I was able to talk with Joette within a couple of days.
      She was comforting and helpful.

  9. Megan says:

My 2 yr old got bit last week. Im giving her 30c because i have that but 200c should be here in a day or so. so I’m thinking from what i read that i should switch to the 200c as soon as it gets here. maybe do a few days extra of that daily with 200c? sense it says if bit within last few weeks and it should be here within the first week.

  10. Ursula says:

This protocol worked well for my husband!

    1. Shannon says:

      Did he have chronic Lyme?

      1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

As stated in the article, I’m not discussing long term Lyme.

Are these amounts/measurements the same for children? How old? I have a 1 1/2 year old. Same measurements for dogs if any size?
We are just starting to learn about Homeopathy and you information is very helpful.
    thank you

In homeopathy, a dose, is a dose, is a dose. No difference between newborns, old aged, little kittens or cattle.

      1. rachelkriger says:

does it matter how many sugar pills you take for each dose? I have 200 C but your article does not specify how many to take each time

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The number of pills that comprise a dose is printed on the side of the bottle.

  13. Debby Bruck says:

Dear Joette – This well timed article about treating Lyme Disease will save many people from a debilitating chronic disease. Very succinct and to the point. Blessings, Debby

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Hi Debby, Thanks you’re work is equally valuable.

Listen up folks! If you want great homeopathy info, go to Homeopathyworldcommunity.co. and listen so as to “up” your homeopathy IQ.

  14. Mary says:

Thanks for this timely blog, Joette. I’ve passed it on to my sister-in-law, who is currently dealing with the disease. Guess where she lives…Lyme, CT! She uses homeopathy now to treat it, but I want to make sure she’s armed with as much info as possible.

  15. Victoria says:

I so loved this article and many thanks for the great information!!

  16. Mary says:

Me again, Joette…since my last comment this morning, I became aware of a disease called Erlichiosis, produced by the bite of an infected “Lone Star” tick, found where I live in south central U.S. (An acquaintance just spent 2 weeks in the hospital with it!) Would you suggest the same homeopathic protocol for this and all other various tick-induced diseases(Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Babesiosis, Tularemia, etc.)?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Hi Mary! The protocol for any insect bite would be Ledum and if there’s a bacteria that folows, then Aurum arsenicum. Skip Borellia because its sepcific to Lyme tic bacteria.

There are other more specific remedies that ought to be included for each of the illnesses you mention, some of which are fully covered in my upcoming course A Survivalist’s Guide to Homeopathy. FINALLY! we’ll be launching it in a few months.

      1. Sherri says:

Did I miss the news about the Survivalist’s Guide to Homeopathy course? Or did this get re-scheduled?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

No, you didn’t miss it. I’m still putting on the finishing touches, and you’ll get more than one email when we make it known. Have a lovely NEw Year.

  17. Tina says:

What do you recommend for diagnosis? It seems like a lot of people have it who don’t know it.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I hear the stories of diognosis, then not, then again. So far, I don’t trust any. The best way to know is history taking, symptom taking and perhpas a test or 2.

    2. Vanessa K says:

I work in a clinic with two ILADs-trained NDs. We run panels for Lyme and common co-infections (babesia, bartonella, erhlichia, etc.) through a company called IGeneX. It catches many cases that were previous false negatives with other tests.

  18. Jill says:

I’m so glad you are posting about this, as there seems to be more concern than usual this year!

  19. Chuck says:

I live in the woods with my wife and boys. They are outside a lot so I am keeping this information handy.

  20. Beverly says:

I had a resonance scan with an Asyra system and it showed resonance with borellia…no medical diagnosis of Lymes. Would it be effective to take the borellia rx or aurum arsenicum? And, curious if I can combine my arsenicum and aurum together as I have them individually.
    Thanks.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

We don’t treat when there’s no illness presenting or specific rationale for such. I’m not familiar with Asyra so I can’t comment on its ability to detect borellia. So instead, I’d wnat ot know if there are symptoms, etc that lead someone to beleive there is active borellia.

I don’t know if Aurum Metallicum and Arsenicum album equals Aurum arsenicum.

    2. Trinity says:

I know this comment is very old, but I just wanted to say we also get health screenings done via an Asyra Pro machine, so I know exactly what you’re talking about. 🙂 If you aren’t/weren’t presenting symptoms, I’d probably just treat as though you were just bit. Do you usually follow the Samento, Cumanda, Burbur-Pinella protocol for Lyme? It works, but takes longer (6 months…which makes it very difficult to make sure all my kids are taking their drops for the proper amount of time! It’s also gets quite expensive if the whole family needs to be taking them!) than these homeopathic pellet protocols I’ve seen.

  21. Monika says:

I have been bit by a deer tick on the 3rd, 9th and 16th of this month (once a week). I assume I should start the treatment afresh each time even though I am already taking the 200C Ledum twice a day OR do I NOT need to do the 3 hours daily for the first day? If I keep getting regular bites is it ok to stay on Ledum twice a day for weeks or longer?

2nd question: I did not see an attached tick on my daughter but the red, raised bump on her head looks very typical of a tick bite. Should I treat her anyway?

    Thank you!!

  22. Audra Slabach says:

My Daughter received tick bite Sunday afternoon, June 15.

My concern is that I only have Ledum 6c at my disposal and sent my daughter off to week-long camp with instructions for giving it 5 pellets three times per day (once before each meal).

Is the Ledum palustre 6c effective this week? Or should I make effort to get the Ledum 200c? (since this will be 5 days before she comes home.

I am uncertain of the difference in numbering for “Ledum”.

    Thank you, Audra

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I have no experience with Ledum 6c for this situation and I consider potency important. I’d make the effort.

  23. Sue says:

    Joette,

I cannot find the Aurum Arsenicum (200C) or the Borellia from any of my usual homeopathy stores. Where can I find these remedies?

    Thanks!

  24. Tara says:

I cannot find the Aurum Arsenicum 200C anywhere either in the US. Does it go by a different name? Also, I haven’t had a formal Lyme diagnosis, but I had a bite with a rash (not classic bullseye) a month ago. I assumed it was a spiter bite, but now I’m afraid of Lyme because I recently have intense joint pain, stiffness, and maybe nerve pain in various areas…mainly my hands. Should I go onto step 3 or would 1-2 suffice?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

There is a link embedded in the article to a source for Aurum arsenicum 200. The link is in orange colored print.

Follow the link in the article for your purchase. Simply click on the word and it will take you there. I set it up that way in all of my blogs to make it easy.

  25. vandu says:

Joette it was wonderful talking to you. Is it okay to start the protocol you outline here while my son is on antibiotics (amoxicillin/14 day course)? or should I wait till the course is over? I ask because I had heard somewhere that some homeopathic remedies for lyme don’t work well during antibiotic treatment, or maybe IF antibiotics were used. Is this true in your experience? Thanks.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The protocol is generally for when antibiotics are no longer being used. It was lovely speaking to you as well.

  26. Cat B says:

Love all the information here. What I’d like to know is…did this work for anyone with later stage Lyme? I’d also like to know about the company that provides the homeopathic treatments…Why this particular link? What is your association with the provider? Sorry for being suspicious but there are a lot of questionable websites out there.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Later stage Lyme must be taken up with a seasoned homeopath.
I take no responsibility for sources of remedies. I chose thsi link because it was the only place I could find this product on line. This blog is informational only and I have no financial affiliation with homeopathic manufacturers that I suggest that readers check out.

    2. MatthewandKatherine Cockerham says:

My daughter used this protocol after finally being diagnosed with Lyme that she believes she has had for 10 years. She took 2 courses (6 weeks total)of antibiotics while doing this protocol plus probiotics. She is continuing to do well even after the end of the antibiotics while continuing the protocol and probiotics.

      1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

        ‘Very happy to hear.

        1. Matthew can you share in detail exactly what she did regarding this protocol i.e. exact dosage days order of remedies/combinations etc…also is she continuing indefinitely please share I have been diagnosed after 2 years of onset of symptoms

  27. Cat B says:

2nd Post. The first one disappeared after being up for an hour. I love all the information here. It is a gift to many! What I’d like to know is….Has Anyone had success with treating Chronic Lyme Disease? Can the protocol be used in conjunction with antibiotics? Generally implies that it may be used with antibiotics. Please give a little more detail on the topic. Thank You!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The reason I use words such as “generally” is beucase each case is different. The details are in taking the case. Remember, homeopathy and all responsible medicine must consider the situation particularly for a chronic condition.

  28. Tara says:

I just started Ledum yesterday while on antibiotics. Should I now discontinue the protocol until I am finished? Would I start on Day 1 again after the antibiotics are out of my system?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Antibiotics and homeopathy are not incompatable; that is, they can be taken simultaneously.

  29. Linda Wunschel says:

I have same question as Monika which was not answered. Basically, if one is on Ledum for a tick bite or has finished the Ledum course of treatment, and then gets another tick bite (while taking ledum or directly after), should one begin taking it following the same protocol as if never taking ledum at all?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

If I was taking Ledum and got another bite within a few days, I might not repeat the process from day 1. If however, it was many days or weeks later, I migght repeat the process from day 1. I would consider the time between and the number of doses per day that had been previously taken. I dont’ know of any rule either way.

  30. Linda Wunschel says:

P.S. I have ledum 1M. Protocol is 3 – ledum 1M 3x day for 3 days. Then stop. If another bite occurs, can I start the same up again?

    Thank you!

    1. Sherry says:

Does this work? This would be easier to follow

      1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

If you’re asking me if homeopathy works, my answer is a resounding YES!

        1. Sherry says:

Does ledum 1M. Protocol is 3 – ledum 1M 3x day for 3 days work as a lyme prevention protocol. 🙂

    2. Laura says:

      Hi Joette,
Also wondering if I may use ledum 1M? That’s all I have in hand right now and I believe I found a lone star tick on my body.

      1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

1M will likely be effective as well. It’s just a little high for consistent repetition.

  31. Kristen says:

What about a dog who screens positive for Lyme, but you do not know when the bite was and they are currently asymptomatic? Would you still use the Ledum as noted above?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I wouldn’t treat an illness that is not presenting.

  32. Lynn says:

    Hi Joette,

There are a number of protocols out their for Lyme and it’s prevention. You mentioned you learned this protocol recently, who did you learn it from?

    Best,
    Lynn

  33. vandu says:

Joette, you mentioned you wouldn’t treat an illness that is not presenting. For lyme, what is example of illness presenting?

Do you consider the rash itself enough reason to treat? I ask because in my 3 year old son’s case, his western blot test was positive for lyme, but the rash was his only symptom. He has had no other “lyme” symptoms such as flue, fever, acheyness, mood issues, etc. A rash could be from many things and tests aren’t reliable.

The rash subsided after starting him on Amox. so after rash, what is example of illness presenting, that I may want to try the Lyme Protocol?

    Thanks for clarifying.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

No, I don’t beleive the rash is considered part of the chronic long term illness. If I had the rash after seeing the tic, I’d use Ledum only.

  34. vandu says:

SOrry meant to say “After AMOX, what is an example of illness presenting, that i may want to try the Lyme Protocol?”

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Symptoms of Lyme are varied. The most common are chronic fatigue, and joint paint.

  35. Ken McGowan says:

I started with symptoms 7-8 weeks ago (migrating joint pain, but no bite or rash) and blood work (2 band matches) confirm lyme (no coinfections). Give my time frame is the protocol to start with Ledum, or skip and go to Aurum? Or both simultaneous?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

It would be inmproprietous for me to attempt to take a case in this format. I can only offer the protocol. Should you be interested in meeting with me, feel free to contact my office.

  36. SHERRIE CLIFF says:

DO YOU HAVE THIS IN A FORMAT THAT CAN BE PRINTED AND TAKEN TO A HOMEOPATHIC DR ..

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’m afraid I don’t understnad the question nor reference.

  37. Jenna says:

I”ve been so excited that I haven’t seen a single tick at our house yet this year!!! – until last night. After showering my boys, I looked down and saw one stuck on my ankle- it was not attached and it was totally dead (maybe from the shower?) So I don’t know if it came off from one of my kids after having been attached for days? But I try to check them every day or atleast every other day and I haven’t seen any. (Unless it was in his hair where I couldn’t see?) Maybe it was just crawling on one of them and the shower washed it off before burrowing. Anyway —- my 6 year old suddenly has a fever today. Coincidence?? I don’t know. I am wondering if you think I should do Step 1, even if there is a chance this is total coincidence and he’s just coming down with a cold or something??…He says he doesn’t have a belly ache..I don’t see any bullseye rash but I know that it isn’t always present. He did mention a headache, and body aches, and has terrible breath.
Thank you so much for your help!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I wouldn’t treat someone who does not or has not had a tick on them, regardless of the symptoms.

      1. Jenna says:

Well my concern is that just because I didn’t see it doesn’t mean it wasn’t there. I definitely had a dead tick in my hand, it’s just a matter of – did it already bite him and just release or was it “new”…? With the flu like symptoms the very next day…I don’t know if I should gamble with it…?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Homeopathic remedies are safe… when they are indicated and used accordingly. If there is no indication, then its imprudent to use them. In a situation where you’re not 100% sure, I would agree with you that it might be prudent to follow the protocol, just in case.

  38. Sherri says:

You mentioned blogging about making your own remedy from the dead tick. Could you address this soon? I am starting to make my own remedies and nosodes, and there is so little information out there about how to do it. BTW – I’m only experimenting on plants and animals at the moment, so far so good, but I get little feedback and my potencies are so low I’m not sure how well they are working. (I have doctored plants & animals using store bought remedies with great success, I might add!) Thank you for all your information! You have definately empowered this farm lady!

  39. DSiraco says:

So I am currently taking Doxicyclin for Lyme and have about a week left. Is it fine to take homeopathic along with antibiotics?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Antibiotics can sometimes interfere with homeopathy, but homeopathy will not interfere with antibiotics. It’s a decision that you and your doctor might want to make together, but I know of no reason to not use both.

  40. Jessica says:

Thank you Joette for this information. I am so glad I had printed it to save in my “homeopathy notebook” for future reference and that time came last night when I discovered an attached deer tick on my 4-yr old! Alas I was not prepared with Ledum 200c on hand, but thanks to my mother’s day remedy kit there was Ledum 30c. I was able to administer 2 doses of 30c before bedtime and then ordered 200c from the amazon link. I then gave 2 doses of 30c this morning before daycare and I will give another as soon as I pick her up this afternoon. I am concerned this is not following your protocol exactly (not the correct potency and not every 3 hours for day 1). Should I still try to follow your protocol the best I can and should I do anything differently once the 200c potency arrives?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I believe the protocol is the best protection, but I always teach my students that they can use whatever potency on hand until the better indicated potency is found. At that time, the new potency replaces the old one and the schedule can be taken up where the last was left off.

  41. Maggie says:

Hello. Thank you for such an informative and timely blog. I am just about to start research into homeopathic treatment for chronic (probably neuro) Lyme. I had the EM rash 30 years but have only just realised what it was.

Please could you clarify – will this protocol work for chronic Lyme even if I have never been treated with antibiotics?

    Thank you

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

THe protocol that I mention is part of the overall method that is used for both acute and chronic Lyme. Should you be interested in speaking to me feel free to contact my office, as there is more to it for chronic that needs to be addressed.

  42. Jessica says:

    Hello

My 5 yr old daughter had a tick bite last summer (age 4.5 yrs) and got the bullseye rash along with a low fever for a few days. She was prescribed and took the 30 day antibiotic treatment. We’ve not seen or noticed any other symptoms. We generally use homeopathy for our healthcare. Its been a year since the bite/bullseye/antibiotics. Do you recommmend any homeopathic treatment at this point? Are there any preventative/on-going protocols for those who have gotten Lymes but not showing symptoms? Many many thanks for your advice!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

In general, when there are no symptoms, treatment is considered superfluous. Having said this however, I have been known to use a protocol for my family members when there is no detectable disease; only a potential threat of such, just in case.

      1. Lisa says:

I read Jessica’s question in #42, and I had a similar situation. Our 18 year old daughter informed me in January 2019 that she had been bitten 2x by ticks in Virginia (safely removed) in 2017 summer. This was the first we learned of her contacts with ticks. So, based upon your reply to Jessica, we could (if we wanted) give her Ledum 200 just in case? Or not, since symptoms have not been observed. And if we did use Ledum, just give as outlined in Step 1 from this article? Blessings to you and yours…

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I have used the method of using only Ledum 200 when my family has discovered tics.

  43. Wendy says:

    Hi Joette,

Thank you for this post! I have a couple of questions:

    1. Are you saying to use the Ledum protocol if you pull ticks off of yourself or others? I just took 5 off of my son tonight (after camp). He is asymptomatic and they looked freshly on, not dug in but from what I read through, it seems you would recommend doing the “Ledum” part of this protocol for him. Correct?

And then each time we pull one off of the kids or us, we start over with the ledum 3 hours, etc…?

    2. Also, my daughter had it when she was 8 months old (fortunately got the bullseye or we never would have known). She had antibiotics (only time as we use homeopathy). She has never showed symptoms or anything but after reading this, do you suggest doing the protocol with her as precaution? I have had Lymes and so has my husband and daughter. I plan to do this protocol. Thank you very much!!

Grateful for this! Work with others too and have already shared it with many :).

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Using Ledum is the protocol anytime there is an insect bite of potential or real consequence. I don’t know that you’d need to begin counting again and again for each tick found.

By doing so, it is a preventive measure before symptoms arise. However if it has been many months or years since the event and there are no symptoms, I’d consider it no longer a threat.

  44. Wendy says:

Hi, Wendy again. Don’t see how to subscribe to this so I can get your newsletters and also see when you reply to post?

Lastly, will you post to this when your publication is ready? Survival one?

    Thanks again.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      Hi Wendy
We have a link on the right hand side of every web page asking folks if they want to ‘Join Our Community”.

If you follow this link you will be added to a very special list of our followers. Those folks gain access to free articles, helpful downloads like the First Aid Chart, and links to the latest research on homeopathy on the Web.

Last December we stopped writing the newsletter to dedicate all our resources to the weekly blog. All the old newsletters are archived and a link is provided on the special member page.

I think you are referring to the newest course we are developing called “The Survivalist Guide to Homeopathy”. Very soon we will be telling folks in our community about this course and offering to those interested in sneak previews and special offers, a way to get on an early bird list.

  45. JennaLee says:

    Hi Joette!

What a wonderful knowledge base here. My pup was just diagnosed as positive for being exposed to Lymes disease. I am going to start the Ledum tomorrow and then followed by Aurum arsenicum 200. Thank you for making those so easy.

When I clicked on the final step (Borrellia 30) it brings me to the correct store but they are currently sold out. Is there anyway to make it on your own and how would that work?

    Thank you!
    Jenna

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Yes, you can make it yourself, and I will be teaching how to make your own remedies in an upcoming course called “A Survivalist Guide to Homeopathy”. Until then, try Helios on line(England), Hahnemann Pharmacy (San Francisco) and Washington Homeopathics (West Virginia).

      Best of luck.

  46. Monika says:

I found an attached deer tick last night on my leg, and took 1 dose of Ledum 200C. I took 3 more doses today. Tonight I found a NEW itchy red spot on my side before showering, after toweling off the itchy spot instantly had a (quarter sized) ring around it.

If I’m following the protocol (day 2) and start to have more Lyme like symptoms (bullseye and/or flu like symptoms) do I just keep following the protocol or once true Lyme symptoms appear should I then start probiotics (hope not)?

    Thank you

  47. Katie E says:

How much do I take for step 2? I have a bottle of the tiny pellets but I don’t know how many to take? Thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

On the outside of homeopathy bottles is the information as to how many pills equal a dose.

      1. Katie E says:

It’s in another language so I have no idea what it says.

  48. sandra says:

question is aurum arsenicum the same as aurum metallicum _arsenibum album or does it have its own profile-personality profile?

can you describe it a bit more on the mental/emotional level. thanks

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Aurum arsenicum and Aurum metallicum are different and have their own capabilities.

    2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The best way to learn diffentials is to read them in a materia medica. If you don’t have an in depth one, check out the many on line.

  49. sandra says:

thanks what I means was does arum arsenicum have the same profile as adding arsenicum album plus aurum metallicum. Like if I read the profiles of ars album and aur-met would this be like the remedy , aurum-ars?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Aurum metallicum and Arsenicum album mixed together are not the same as Aurum arsenicum.

    2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

No, it does not have the same profile.

  50. sandra says:

oh okok thanks that’s what I wanted to know, thanks again

  51. Heidi says:

    Hi Joette,

I pulled a tick off my almost 3 year old son yesterday. It’s likely been on 3/4 days. I can only find 30c locally. How much should I give him until I get the 200c? Do I start your protocol for 200c with every 3 hours etc once we get it? I haven’t any idea how much to administer of the 30c in the interim.

    Thanks,Heidi

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The 30th potency is close enough to 200 that would allow the use of it in replacement until the higher potency can be obtained. The number of pills that is considered a dose, is indicated on the side of the bottle. You might want to consider purchasing a kit from our office of 200 potencies so that that you can be prepared for such events in the future.

  52. Sherri says:

I’ve been in tick country looking for a calf for the last 4 days. I searched by body and clothes carefully every night. This morning I have a small itchy red spot in the underwear line around my leg. I know you can get Lyme disease from other critters other than ticks, so though I never saw a tick, that doesn’t mean I’m clear. I’ve started this protocol, since it is some type of insect bite. My question is how long do I continue this protocol? All the way through, or just until it clears up?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

When using a protocol for an insect bite/sting it is generally used until the event has passed. That is, until there is no longer a concern from stinging, burning, itching etc. However, I would not encourage anyone to use more than just the basic insect remedy (Ledum) unless there is evidence that it is specifically Lyme disease or symptoms of such present.

  53. Tanya says:

    Thank you Joette,

We pulled a tick off my dog back in October (5 month ago). She doesn’t have any symptoms, but the blood test shows lyme and anaplasmosis-positive.
Our vet doesn’t want to treat with antibiotics, but he’s not familiar with homeopathy either.

What would be the right protocol for our Maya? Should we give her Ledum, or just go with Lyme nosode? How much to give and for how long?

All other blood work is fine for Maya, and she doesn’t have any symptoms at all (I found it’s pretty common for Bernese Mountain Dogs).

    Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

pls check my article (on this blog) on the subject that gives the protocol that I trust.

  54. Colleen says:

I have a question about the three steps for older, entrenched Lyme. Do you start with the Aurum while still taking the Ledum, or go through the whole course of Ledum first, followed by the Aurum and then the Borrelia? Or did you mean that I do the Ledum the first day and then all three steps starting on the following day? Also, if I am on other remedies for chronic conditions, should I stop those while doing this Lyme protocol or continue with them as well? Thank you for this invaluable information. You have been such a blessing to me.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

If the infection is old, then they are usually taken simultaneously. IF the tic was just found, then only step one is taken. I’m afraid i can’t comment on your case without knowing it.

      1. Colleen says:

Thank you. That answered my main question.

  55. Colleen says:

Joette, you mentioned taking the remedies for other chronic Lyme symptoms simultaneously with the Lyme remedies. I know the remedies for the arthritis and chronic fatigue, but I can’t find in my GGBG notes, on the forum, or on the blog what the remedy would be for tingling/numbness in arms and feet. Definitely on the right track, as my other symptoms have improved a bit, but this particular symptom is still baffling me. Thanks.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

There are several remedies that can be used for tingling/numb. but the 1st one that comes to mind is Hypericum.

      1. Colleen says:

Thanks for your reply. That is one that my doctor actually mentioned. Would that be for SOS or chronic, and what potency would you recommend if this is a symptom I have daily?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Without knowing your case, I can’t offer potencies, frequencies, etc. It sounds like your doctor has homeopathic knowledge, so I’d ask him if he can offer specific treatment.

  56. Sheryl says:

Would my bottle of Ledum palustre 200 ck be the same as 200c?
    Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

They are slightly different in the way they are manufactured, but I generally consider them one in the same in terms of results.

  57. TT says:

Joette, would Step 2 be done at the same time as Step 1, or do you have to finish Step 1 first before starting Step 2?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

It depends on whether it is an old case or just occurred. I think if you re-read the article, it will become clear.

    2. TT says:

Thanks, Josette. I re-read the article, and I’m still not clear. This is for a new bite. Would Steps 1 and 2 be done at the same time, or would you do Step 1, then Step 2?

      1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The only reason you’d go to step 2 would be if you knew for sure that it was a Lyme tic bite. If you only know that it is a tic bite, then Ledum is where you start and end. Step 2 is only for Borrellia infection.

        1. Elisa says:

I have the same question. My daughter has just been diagnosed with Lyme and Anaplasmosis (her symptoms started 3 weeks ago and she’s on day 4 out of 14 of Doxy – still has a lot of fatigue). Question 1: Should I start her on Step 1 and Step 2 on the same day? Question 2: Would she have to follow-through on 14 days of Doxy so as not to become resistant to it? I’d prefer the awful stuff not go in her body. Thank you!!

  58. Maya says:

We just adopted a dog who’s been exposed to Lyme few month ago. Her blood test doesn’t show any sign of infection, but SNAP test shows that she is producing antibodies against b.burgdorfi.

She seems to be fine except very tiny limping on her hind leg. It happens within few secs when she gets up, so it might or might not be related to lyme. No other symptoms.

Should we start the protocol on her? If yes, should it be all 3 steps? Or just step 1 and 2? Also we have Ledum 1M – would it be ok instead of Ledum 200C, or it’s better to order 200C potency?

    Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The way the protocol is set up is to include all three steps and the only experience I have is in using the potencies I mentioned. I find that its better to follow the specific protocol if one is to expect reproducible results.

  59. Shelly says:

I had lyme and finished up my 30 days of antibiotics. I do not have symptoms. Would it be ok to take the homeopathic treatment to build up my immunity and prevent reoccurrences? Would it flush out anything that might be leftover from lyme?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Homeopathy’s role is generally implemented as a curative medicine; not a supportive measure. It is used as the 1st line of treatment in lieu of antibiotics. However, since you’ve already taken antibiotics and no longer have symptoms, it doesn’t make sense to use the homeopathics at this time. If the disease returns, that would be the time to employ homeopathy.

  60. Cecelia says:

I removed a tick off my husband about 3 days ago, it was small and had not been on for long time, but was attached. I would like him to take something for prevention of possibly getting Lyme disease. His co worker was bitten on May 10th and his naturopathic doctor has him taking cats claw & andrographis to build up his immune system. Would you recommend taking these products and could they be used along with Ledum Palustre 200C? He fishes along a river with heavy tick infestation and so will be exposed to possibly getting bit again. This really worries me.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Herbs and supplements can be used concomitantly with homeopathy, but in my experience nothing works like Ledum 200. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Ledum asap.

      1. Cecelia says:

I could not find the 200C locally, but did find Boiron Ledum Palustre 30C. Directions state dissolve 5 pills in mouth 3Xday. Would this be okay until I can find the 200C? I had my husband start on this last night. Our local health food store will be able to order for us, but we won’t get it until end of this coming week.

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’ve never used 30th potency for this protocol, so I have no experience. If you return to the blog article and click on the word “Ledum 200c” it will take you to Amazon so they can send it to you.

  61. Cecelia says:

I forgot to mention she recommended taking olive leaf extract. Thoughts on this?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

You may concurrently use supplements and such, but nothing compares to the efficacy and safety of homeopathy.

  62. TT says:

Josette, I’ve been referring people to this page, but I have a question. Does this protocol (Step 1 for a new bite) work for co-infections, too, or just Borrelia?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Ledum 200 is used for ailments from insect or other animal bites; even years after the incident. Aurum arsenicum 200 is used for Lyme infection as well as co-infections and Borellia 200 is specific to Lyme.

      1. TT says:

OK, so if you don’t know for sure if the tick has Borrelia, would the Ledum include taking care of the Borrelia (as well as the other tick-borne infections)?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I use Ledum 200 for all animal bites from tics to bee stings to cat bites, to rat bites, etc. It’s specific for the poisons of animal bites.

          1. TT says:

Does that include Lyme, or is it just the poisons from animal bytes?

          2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The bacteria from a bite are considered a poison, so all bites, even human.

      2. shaila says:

Hi Joette, Happy New Year and Merry very belated Christmas
        A few questions–
1 In the above comment you say Borrelia 200 but the article says Borrelia 30. Which potency is correct?
        2. What is the difference between the Lyme Nosode 30 and Borrelia 30? Is one more effective? They are listed separately on Helios
        3. . I followed the link in your article to purchase Borrelia 30 and Lyme Nosode 30 and it takes me to Helios where they ask me to specify form, size and potency.. What FORM is recommended ( there are about 11 to choose from) and can you please give me a sense of how long one of the listed SIZES will last so I can figure out which size to purchase?
        4. I noticed Hahnemann Pharmacy and especially Washington Pharmacy are cheaper than Boiron. Is Boiron higher quality?
.THANK YOU SO MUCH Joette for what you do!

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, PHom M says:

          1) I’ve used both 30 and 200.
          2) I can’t say for sure what the difference is but they’re likely somewhat interchangeable.
          3) You decide which form is most desirable for your personal use.
          4) All three are of the best quality.

  63. TT says:

Thanks, Joette. Just to be sure I understand, so are you saying that the Ledum will clear not just the poison from the Borrelia, but the Borrelia bacteria, too, in a new tick bite? Or will it be only clearing out the poison but not the bacteria itself (Borrelia)?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Bacteria are poison. Whether you differentiate between another poison and bacteria or not, it clears all in relation to an insect bite.

  64. Tanya says:

    Hi Joette,

Can I dissolve Aurum Arsenicum in water? It’s really hard to give pellets to my dog, but I can easily give her liquid using syringe.

Or is it ok to hide pellets in the food? That would be even easier…

    Thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I usually put the remedies in my dog’s water and count on him taking a drink twice daily. I’ve given remedies to my chickens by putting it in their food.

      1. Sorry I gave worn email, this is the correct one..sorry

        1. wrong…sorry auto correct makes me crazy.

  65. I am curious what the Borrellia 30 does? I cannot seem to find any information it, but when I Google it, it refers to Lyme Disease?

Feeling better already, just more curious about the protocol and what each protocol dies.

    My best

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Homeopathy stimulates the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

  66. Adriann says:

My 9 year old son developed the tell-tale red bullseye mark. We never saw a tick. It started looking like a regular mosquito bite on sturday and just got bigger and bigger. It ended up turning into the bulleye mark on the 3rd day and he then developed the fever. It has now been 6 days since the start of the bite mark. Do you suggest that I give him the Ledum palustre or the arcum arsenicum?

    Thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

In homeopathy, we open any case of an insect bite with Ledum and follow it with Aurum arsenicum if there is a concern about bacteria infection. Both of these apply in the the case of a bite that indicates Lyme.

      1. Adriann says:

I am having a hard time finding The Aurum arsenicum. The link says that they can not ship to the US.

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

You may also try Hahnemann Laboratories in CA, Washington Homeopathics in W.Virginia or Helios Homeopathics in London. Check their websites or call them.

          1. Adriann says:

Thanks! I checked the websites. Hahnemann Laboratories has one called AURUM ARSENICATUM. Is this the same thing? Thanks again for all your help!

          2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

No problem. Yes, it is the same.

          3. April says:

I got the aurum arsenicicum 200c from hahnemann how many pellets do I use bc it doesn’t say on the bottle

          4. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

There is no number on the outside of the bottle that indicates a dose?

          5. April says:

No and I contacted them and they won’t tell me

          6. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Are you asking them how many pills is equal to a dose or is your question how often to administer them?
I”m sorry to drill you on this, but I direct folks to the label as to how many pills comprise a dose.
In homeopathy, the number of pills is not as important as the frequency of use, but to answer your question, I have used Hahnemann’s remedies and have always used about 4 as a dose.

          7. April says:

They are tiny pellets than I’m use to using

          8. April says:

Yes! I asked how many pellets equal one dose bc they are smaller than I’m use to. They won’t say and the bottle doesn’t say either which is strange.

          9. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

            Ok, thanks for that, April.
Most homeopathic doses are anywhere from 1-6 pills. But to be honest, the number of pills doesn’t matter that much.

  67. Anna says:

My daughter (age 7) and husband were both bitten by ticks 4 weeks ago, so is it ok to still do the stage 1 protocol now? It’s not too late is it? They have no symptoms yet but I am still very concerned about Lyme disease.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The protocol is used regardless of how long ago the bite occurred. I’ve actually used it years later.

  68. Bre says:

All 3 of my children have had ticks attached in the past year. Should I just start Step 1 with all of them so they are all on the same schedule?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Regardless of the time of the 1st bite, the protocol is to start at step one.

  69. Anna says:

If it becomes necessary to add in step 2, can this second remedy be taken at the same time as the ledum or should the full course of ledum be completed first before starting the additional remedy? And the same question really about step 3? Also with step 3 you say 3 days and then stop and repeat for 3 doses, but what is the break between each dose?
    Many thanks

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Question: can this second remedy be taken at the same time as the ledum?
Ans: Yes, but the protocol is to not take any further action if the bite is fresh, assuming that Ledum will have caught it in time. Step 2 and 3 are if if is indicated that the infection is indeed Lyme.
Question: Also with step 3 you say 3 days and then stop and repeat for 3 doses, but what is the break between each dose?
Ans: If you’re asking how many hours between doses when the directions are for twice daily, the answer is every 12 hours.

  70. Sarah says:

Also, I ordered the ledum from your link. The directions say to take 5 pellets, 3 times a day. Is 5 pellets one dose? Or is one pellet a dose? Thank you again! What a gift you are giving to all of us 🙂

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The bottles always indicate what constitutes a dose. According to the directions you quoted, a dose is 5 pellets.

      1. Sarah says:

Excellent, thank you! Also, do you feel it is critical for people to avoid coffee while on this protocol? I would much rather not go without but would if absolutely necessary.

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

If someone drinks coffee regularly, say daily, it should not effect the remedies in any way.

      2. Nick says:

So the first 24 hours you take 5 pellets every 3 hours?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The number of pills that comprise a dose is printed on the side of the bottle.

  71. Stefanie says:

If you have had Lyme for many years would you need all the products. I am a bit confused about that part.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The entire protocol would be used, regardless of the age of the condition.

      1. Sarah says:

For step 3, it says to “take for 3 days and then stop for a total of 3 doses.” Does this mean you take 3 days and then stop entirely or you wait for a certain period and take for another 3 consecutive days (and repeat that process 3 times.) It says it can be repeated every few months.. how often is ok? Thank you Joette! You are truly an angel 🙂

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

“The protocol is to take Borellia once per day for three days and then stop, for a total of three doses. This protocol states that this may need to be repeated every few months if the symptoms remain.”

It’s not taken more than one round unless indicated at a later date that there is no improvement. Then it is repeated accordingly.

  72. Linda says:

Very interesting info, ty Joette. ? = can you become immune to this protocol over time?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

As long as the medicine is clearing up the condition, it will continue to act. Once it is no longer needed, it will become superfluous.

  73. maureen says:

Do you have suggestions for babesia?

  74. Izzy says:

It must be frustrating getting the same questions over and over, but I still don’t get it with the Aurum ars. Is it supposed to be taken for a total of 10 weeks like the Ledum?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The protocol is to use these remedies for about 2 months and then assess. So, yes, about 10 weeks is a common length of time.

  75. Claudia says:

Joette, Is Aurum Arsenicum no longer available in the U.S.? The link in the article says it cannot be shipped to the U.S.? I’m 25+ years SOME kind of infection, had the standard Lyme tests which were negative. Am I too chronic after this long to be helped by such a protocol?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

You might try Washington Homeopathics in W Virginia or Hahnemann Pharmacy in CA.

The remedies I discuss have a history of acting even after years from the time when the original Lyme infection was contracted, but I can’t say how or if they will act for you.

  76. aye prell says:

What would the dose be from hahnemann on the aurum arsenicicum 200c?

  77. Moniek says:

On 30 october I did not do a check after collecting chestnuts in the woods (we normally always check) and the day after I had 6 tick bites (5 ticks were attached). I started taking Ledum 200 a couple of days later. Since then I have (apart from the tick bites that kept itching and have healed extremely slowly; one still has not completely healed) what iI initially thought were mosquito bites. More “mosquito bites” than usual. I do not think they’re mosquito bites anymore, because they are numerous, scattered all over my body and different in size. They resemble a kind of hives/nettle rash.
Could this be a toxic reaction and, if so, what would be wise to do or take?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

What would you have a toxic reaction to?

      1. Moniek says:

I should have left my reply here, not in a seperate item. Sorry. To the tick bites? Perhaps a reaction to the Ledum, or of the immune system?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

          I don’t understand your question.

          1. Moniek says:

Could my body or immune system be responding to the tick bites or the Ledum by forming a kind of rash that looks like (small and larger) insect bites that are not ‘clustered’, but appear on different parts of my body?

          2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Any homeopathic that is used incorrectly, which includes for too long, or more commonly, unnecessarily, can cause symptoms. Homeopathic medicine is not to be used unless it is warranted. Perhaps that is the problem.

  78. Moniek says:

    To the tick bites?
The bumps started appearing shortly after. I think before my last amalgam filling was removed on the 11th of november. On the 22th of november I had a food poisening/an allergic reaction to some restaurant food which had never occurred before (rash all over chest, tummy, arms, back and legs, and chest pain). This could all just be a coincidence. Or it could be bedbugs, although I have not found a single trace of their presence so far in or around the bed and this also would be very coincidental, just after being bitten by the ticks.

    1. Dee says:

This happened to me too. I was wondering too if I proved the remedy cause I have bite looking bumps and don’t have been bugs So I thought maybe a ledum side effect?

  79. Liz says:

Where can I even find this remedies? I’m in the US.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

You may try calling Washington Homeopathic Pharmacy in W. Virginia.

  80. Colleen says:

Can these remedies be used prophylactically by a pregnant woman with diagnosed Lyme to prevent transmission to baby? I have seen it recommended that she take antibiotics throughout pregnancy but there has to be a better way.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I believe these remedies may be used during pregnancy, but I have no experience with using them as a measure to protect an unborn baby.

  81. Sngbns says:

Hello, Love!! I was infected with Lyme 30 years ago, still tested positive recently via Igenix, along with EBV, HHV, etc. Total of 4 years of abx over the decades. Can’t tolerate abx at present without adrenal crash, but also can’t tolerate alcohol in liquid homeopathic remedies without causing a serious adrenal crash (already homebound for last several months). Can these liquids in your article, which contain alcohol, be applied topically, perhaps? Diet is exemplary for last four years for gut health. (Heard you on the gut health summit.:)
Thanks for your kind heart and awesome wisdom!!
    Amber

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

They can be purchased in pills, alcohol or water. Contact Washington Homeopathic Pharmacyin W. Virginia or Hahnemann Laboratories in CA.

      1. Sngbns says:

        Great!!! Thanks. 🙂

  82. Hi Joette! 🙂 I’m not sure if the comments are still active for this article, but just wanted to thank you for the very helpful info on what remedies to use for tick bites. I just got a Lone Star tick off of me 2 days ago now and have since noticed a small, itchy, reddish area where the tick was attached. I know Lone Star ticks do not carry Lyme, but after reading some articles about them causing red meat allergies in some people, I am a little concerned. Some of the people bitten were affected so severely that after eating red meat they had to go to the emergency room because of hives, throat swelling, and severe allergic reactions. It sounds crazy that a tick could cause this, but after much research, it seems to be legitimate. Can you tell me if you’ve had any cases that resemble these particular symptoms from a tick bite? I started taking Ledum 30C this morning, because that’s all I had available, and will continue this as per your protocol for tick bites, until I can get the 200C today, if my local health food store carries it; if not, I’ll be ordering it. Do you have any recommendations as to how best to approach this? Needless to say, I’m kinda scared to eat any red meat now. Thank you so much! 🙂

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The Ledum 200 protocol is used for any tic bites. Any bites, for that matter, including bees, rats, dogs, etc.

    2. Moniek says:

I posted a while ago about an inexplicable rash (small insect-bite-like bumps and larger darker red bumps) after using the protocol in october 2015. Doing research for my father, who has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer recently, I read how kurkuma can sometimes produce a rash. Since I added kurkuma almost daily to my smoothie I tried leaving it out, just in case. And to my surprise the rash was less prominent after a few days and has now (after 6 months of itching) completely cleared. So, a peculiar allergy, not improper use.

    3. Candy Mainard says:

I had a tick I pulled off me here in Missouri. Lone Star..I sent it in for testing..Positive for erlichia..Just a fyi ticks carry more and more infections and carry it everywhere, all states and Europe as well. My homeopath who had Lyme as well also states it is transmitted by sex and breast milk..any transfer of bodily fluids…Hope this helps. I have chronic Lyme since 2009. Have IV antibiotics that did nothing for me in 2009. Tick bite in 2000 in Ks. So after trying too many things that didnt help or made it worse, am now going to homeopathic…and might I add 2 more tickbites in last 6 months. So Im going to get one of the homeopathic kits here to have on hand. Although you can order these supplements it takes too long to get. Appreciate your website and help Joette!

  83. Thanks so much, Joette! 🙂

  84. Elizabeth says:

Hi, Joette. I’ve ordered the Ledum 200c for my 6yo son. I found a deer tick stuck on him two mornings ago. The arrival date with amazon is not until next week. So, I purchased Hyland’s brand Ledum 30x from my local vitamin store. Can you tell me how much of this I should use? The bottle says 2 tablets 4-times per day for children. Would you suggest more or less? Thank you.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I have no experience with using 30 instead of 200, but I know some who use 4 times daily for a few days in lower potencies. You might consider owning a homeopathy kit so that when this happens you’re prepared.

  85. Elizabeth says:

Thank you for your reply, I will definitely invest in a kit. This sounds silly, but when I get the 200c, and if another bite occurs, do I administer 5-tablets every 3hours, for a 24hr period? Or just while the patient is awake?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

We usually adminster only during waking hours unless the condition at hand is v. serious.

  86. Emily Urban says:

Ugh! My kids and I were exposed to a field full of ticks on Friday and as far as I knew, we got them all off our body before any bit us. Saturday night my daughter had a bout of diarrhea and called for help cleaning up and we discovered she had been bitten in her groin area. I immediately gave a dose of the ledum and intended on giving her another dose in the morning. She woke Saturday morning very sick, lethargic, nausea, vomiting, muscle aches (she described as cramps in the legs and back). I totally forgot about the tick bite and started treating her like she had food poisoning. Ipecac finally worked. Anyway it’s Sunday night and all day she’s been very fatigued and weak. She’s now complaining of an earache and still a belly ache, but nausea and vomiting gone. It didn’t occur to me that she could be sick already from the bite. Should I still be on the ledum protocol or has the game changed because she is symptomatic? Our homeopath is out of town. Should i just continue to treat the acute symptoms? So worried!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

What I teach is that there’s nothing wrong with treating for more than one condition simultaneously, such as an acute and potential chronic as well as acute and acute. Its not classical, but is effective as long as the remedies are well chosen.

  87. My family has chronic Lyme’s. I was able to order the remedies for Step 1 and Step 3, but I cant find a place to order Step 2 anywhere in the US. Do you know how I can obtain this remedy? I’m going to do Step 1&3 as instructed, but would like to do Step 2 as well if possible. Thanks.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Click on the link and so that you can order it from the pharmacy we sought out. No reason to purchase only form american pharmacies. Also, you may try Hahnemann Pharmacy in CA. and Washington Homeopathics in W.V.

    2. I tried to, but they said they couldn’t ship to the United States.

      1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Try the others I mentioned in the U.S.

  88. Lanie says:

Hi Joette, I sent this question via email before I realized you had a comment section.I really hope you can offer some advice. My 3 y.o. Peke got lyme last year when she was 2. At that time the vet said no treatment was necessary, which I was glad to hear as she showed no signs and I really didn’t want to use antibiotics. A week ago, however, when I went for my dog’s wellness visit, I was told her lyme is now “acute” (how the vet deemed it). She then prescribed a month(!) of antibiotics. I had intended to reluctantly get the antibiotics but then I started doing some research and ultimately came across ledum and your post. All I want is my dog to be healthy and feel good but I would prefer to use something with less harmful side effects but I don’t understand how to use ledum (the dosage, how many per day, etc) or what other homeopathic elements to perhaps use in conjunction with the ledum. I have started giving her the 30c version (as that was all my local health store had – other than 6c). But I only gave her 2 yesterday and 2 the day before because I don’t even understand how to give it and certainly do not want to harm my dog. My dog is female, unspayed (if it makes a difference), 3 y.o., has no other illnesses besides “acute” lyme.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

If you hope to reproduce the results that I discuss, its best to follow the protocol as stated. This includes potencies. If your question is that you want to know how many pills to use, simply follow the directions on the outside of the bottle.

      1. Lanie says:

I’m sorry but what is the protocol? I just noted ledum and didn’t understand the rest. And would I still follow this exact protocol for a dog that’s only 15 lbs? Thank you!

  89. cjgrubbs says:

My 10 year old has been tired and lethargic for 3 days. He has complained of neck pain and just being sore. It occurred to me last night that we had gotten a tick off of him about 10 days ago. I watched the site for several days with no rash or other negative signs. I would like to try the Ledum palustre but the above link takes me to a product that won’t arrive to me for 10-15 days. Where could I call locally to possibly find it? A health food store?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Amazon, healthfood stores, or best yet, own your own homeopathy kit.

  90. Janelle says:

If a person is has been diagnosed with Lymes disease, has pain and inflammation in their joints already, is it fine to start this protocol using the Ledum, Aurum Arsenicum and Borrellia as well as a homeopathic remedy for their painful joints? Or should we see the Lymes disease protocol begin melting away their symptoms that come along with the Lymes disease and not start any other homeopathic remedies for their specific symptoms?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’m not impressed with the tests that reveal Lyme. So instead, I’d rather see someone start the symptom picture 1st and go to the Lyme protocol once the diagnosis has been established and reestablished. That way there’s no wasted time.

  91. gary given says:

Where the hell can you buy Aurum Arsenicum in USA?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

You can buy the hell out of it in England at Helios. Or if a homeopath would be willing to work with someone who is rude, they would source it for you in the U.S.

      1. gary given says:

Thank you for sharing your knowledge..I finally got aurum arsenicicum..says 10-15 pellets is a dose..how many doses a day?

        And for Borrelia burdorferi 30 c drops..says 6 drops is a dosage..how many doses a day?

my lyme is 7 months now..seems to be diminishing with Antibiotics..

Do you think lyme is transmitted via saliva? Maybe handshake with saliva to another person that then touching his mouth? I think I gave it to my friend..

My homeopath is doing a clense on my sister before the homeopath treatment..absolutely necessary the cleanse?

        Well..thanks

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The number of times each medicine is to be used is indicated in the article and dosages are written on the side of the bottles.

I don’t know any way this disease is transmitted other than via a tic.

Using cleanses is not my paradigm.

  92. Tammy says:

I recently participated in the Essential Oils Revolution Summit online, and one of the speakers was teaching on the topic of Lyme disease and stated that the Lyme spirochete can be transmitted through milk. Being a raw milk user, I was very concerned to hear this and would greatly appreciate Joette’s perspective concerning this. Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Tammy, I cant speak to whether that is so.

  93. Megan Volmer says:

Thank you so much for all the info on Lyme. I was diagnosed about a month after exposure to a tick and started Ledum 10x ASAP. It took two weeks to get the 200c from Amazon. The Aurum from Hahnemann was MUCH quicker. Thank you again for posting this. It has been a huge help for me.

  94. Debbi says:

Hi. I just got diagnosed with Lyme yesterday. I don’t recall getting a tick. Would I do all 3 steps together? Thx in advance.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’ve laid out the protocol to begin from the time the tic is found. If you’re talking about an obscure bite years ago, this changes.

      1. Debbi says:

In my case, I never saw a tick so I really don’t know when the bite occured. A few weeks ago, I got a swollen knee and an orthopedic took the fluid out of it last week and found that I have lyme. Would this protocol apply to my case? Thanks!

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’m sorry, but I’d have to take your case to be able to comment.

  95. Sara A says:

Hello my 9yr old daughter had a limp for a few weeks and then progressively started to get worse I took her to the doctor and after several visits and seeing ortho specialist if I’m fluid in her hip and a tiny piece of and their words mangled cartilage not attached to the hip joint any longer but doesn’t seem to be impeding or in the way. They tell me that she’s also tested positive for Lyme disease and they think she’s three or four months into it a prescriber a heavy antibiotic for 28 days straight and twice a day naproxen for the fluid and swelling in the hip. I’m terrified with all of this biotics and her system so I was seeking alternative medicine when I found you and your posts. We have about a week left of the antibiotics and I don’t see any Improvement. I’m curious to what you would recommend if I was going to try hemeopathy. She’s walking with crutches and it breaks my heart to see her in pain. Never tick bite in her life or a rash she didn’t have some migraines at the end of the year last year but I chalked that up to puberty also she had a bout of pneumonia 5 years ago the hospitalized her and she suffered from MRSA Infection from 6 months to about 3 years old in the form of infected boils. When doing research online I discovered some believe it’s possible to transfer Lyme disease through breastfeeding and I did breastfeed. Her doctors say she has no compromised immune system no Childhood Cancer or leukemias…
I love your confidence and I’ve been reading your posts for 2 days now you sound very educated and knowledgeable I appreciate you sharing that with us.
    Warm regards,
    A feeling helpless Mother

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

THis is something I’d have to study and for which I’d have to take the case one on one. Should you be interested in discussing that possibility, feel free to contact my office and Eileen will schedule a 15 minute introductory phone call.

  96. Trish says:

I am slightly confused about the dosing. Your directions say: Start with Ledum palustre 200C: This is taken every 3 hours for the first day, followed by twice daily for a week. etc. etc. Are you saying to take 1 tablet every 3 hours or is 1 dose = 5 tablets per the bottle directions?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I don’t include the number of pills to be taken because what constitutes a dose is printed on the side of the bottle and that depends on the pharmacy who manufactures the medicine. Follow the directions on the bottle as to how many pills = a dose.

      1. Trish says:

        Thank you!

  97. Corinne says:

Hi and thank you for this information!

If my dog gets a tick bite and I am treating him with the Ledum 200C, and then during treatment he gets another tick bite, would I start over from day one with the Ledum every 3 hours, or would I just continue on with wherever I am in the previous treatment plan? Like if he got a tick bite 2 weeks ago so currently was on the twice-a-week dose, then got another tick bite tomorrow, would he stay on 2x/week or go back to the start with a dose every three hours?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Buster does that too. I start over each time.

  98. Michele Miller says:

    Hello Ms. Calabrese,
may I have protocol clarity please:

So let’s say a hypethetical, symptomatic, 9 year old person, in your family got a positive diagnosis of Lymes 2-3 weeks after a painful tic was removed from them (which was unknowingly hidden and embedded on the body for 5 days before the darn tic was found) , then it looks like step one and two come into play for your protocol.

Can you please clarify your step 2?

You wrote, “If I thought that someone in my family had Lyme that was older and more entrenched, I’d still follow Step 1 and add Step 2 at any time after using Ledum.”

I’m trying to interpret what you mean by “after using Ledum 200c.” Since step one of protocol includes 2 months of time administering Ledum, are you saying use step two after the full 2 month protocol of Ledum time has passed? Or, are you saying that you can start step 2 at any point in time after you had started the first dose of Ledum

2nd question. Once someone begins step 2 of the protocol using the arsenicum 200c, is it okay to complete the remainder of the step-one Ledum protocol along side Step two?

    Thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Ledum is generally understood to be used at the time of an insect bite, as an acute. What I’m saying is that in this circumstance, no matter how long ago the bite occurred, I’d still use Ledum along with the others for the chronic aspect of the case.
So yes, all of them would be used.

      1. Michele Miller says:

Ah yes, so both of them would be used, got it. But! But can they be used at the same time, or do you complete one remedy’s protocol (ledum) before initiating the second remedy’s protocol (arsenicum)? Thanks again, Ms. Calabrese.

        1. Courtney Ingham says:

Simultaneously is fine. just leave about 10 minutes between taking each.

          1. R says:

Thank you for clarifying this. I was also not clear if they could all be taken at the same time at the other protocol.

          2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

Unless the directions say “mixed with ” or “taken simultaneously”, they’re best separated by a few minutes or so.

  99. Brook Van Fleet says:

Thank you for your information! My 15 year old daughter has a diagnosis of anaplasma and ehrlichia. She has never been on an antibiotic in life and I am not about to start. I am not sure when she contracted it. I am thinking it is old. she start showing symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea and numbness in arms and legs about 3 weeks ago. Symptoms have subsided but I am concerned. Should I follow your protocol completely including the Lyme Nosode 30? Thank you so much!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I can’t be specific for your case but my understanding is that anaplasma is related to Lyme. If you have more defined information that it isn’t, then its best to stay with the generalized tick bite set of homeopathics not related specifically to Lyme.

  100. teri kratochvil says:

My boxer has Lyme’s they did treat her with one round of antibiotics but as soon as the antibiotics were done her lymp came back should I use all three steps?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I wish that folks would come to homeopathy before allopathy, but most don’t. So this protocol is for whether both circumstances. Let me know how it goes.

  101. teri kratochvil says:

Yes had it not been such a shock when I found out I would have done research before I let them put her on antibiotics

  102. Kathy Wann says:

How is the protocol to be used if a person has long term lyme?
    Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I don’t know what you mean by long term, but I’m finding that far too many people are told they have chronic Lyme and I see it as a rabbit hole. I’d be wary of such a diagnosis.

  103. tricia says:

I’m finding the protocol confusing in that it’s my understanding that Homeopathy is based on case taking of individual symptoms. Lyme very much presents differently in every person. There are commonalities but still huge differences. It can present solely as anxiety in one person, as bi-polar in the next, as 5 symptoms in the next and then as 25 symptoms in the next. Having said that, how can the protocol be of benefit at all with Chronic Lyme? Wouldn’t each case be different in that the Homeopath would be looking for a Constitutional Remedy which could differ greatly for each person with Chronic Lyme. It could vary between hundreds + remedies could it not? Thank you

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

As I mentioned in the article, the protocol is not to be used for chronic Lyme. Additionally, I don’t use classical homeopathy any longer so your view of how to address a chronic condition differs from my approach. I urge you to read more of my blog, particularly from the last 5 years to get an idea of how much simpler my method is.

  104. Bonnie says:

My dog has Lyme disease should I do all 3 steps or skip to number 2? I really need an answer. Greatly appreciated!

  105. Bonnie says:

Also my dog has been diagnosed like couple months ago, should I do all three steps or should I skip to number two? If I do all three steps how should I give them to her? I want to make sure I do it right.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

If the case was diagnosed a few months ago it indicates to me that its probably chronic Lyme and this protocol is not specific to chronic Lyme.Once its chronic, the symptoms need to be used to determine what homeopathics ought to be chosen.

  106. Tawny says:

I just bought what was linked, thank you for this protocol. I have read every comment and your responses. You have said to use this protocol regardress of bite time, and then end with this isn’t for chronic lyme. Can you explain please. I have a DS7 who is being treated for lyme, we’re 1 year into abx and herbals. I’d love to use this, would it be practical? Also my DD3 just had a bullseye rash from a tick 4 weeks ago, off abx and now going to use this. What’s your definition of chronic lyme?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The confusion arises from the myriad of conditions that lately, are attributed to Lyme. If the condition is strictly Lyme disease and not just the scapegoat for other conditions, then the Lyme protocol is appropriate. But far too often Lyme is blamed for conditions that need to be treated differently. If Lyme shows up in a blood panel it doesn’t mean it is the cause of the present condition/s. So when there’s no evidence that there was a tic or other such markers, I begin to question whether Lyme is the cause and steer away from using these protocols

      1. Tawny says:

Again thank you! I appreciate your work tremendously!

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

          you’re v. welcome.

  107. Nicole Volz says:

I just had a tick removed from my daughters head. It was engorged. They sent it to lab for testing. My best guess is it happened on a Monday when we went hiking and found it Friday. A friend told me to start ledum protocol immediately regardless of test result. My daughter is 3.5! Any other advice as a teacher you can give me??

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Its all there in the article.

  108. Nicole Volz says:

Hi. I left a comment before but it somehow is not on here anymore. My 3.5 year old daughter was just found w a tick imbedded and emgorged in her head. I was told to start ledum protocol immediately. Any advice u can give as a teacher?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

What I teach about tic bites is in the article.

  109. Nicole Volz says:

Ok so when u say take the ledum every three hours the first day, you mean take around the clock for the first 24, every three hours?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      Only during waking hours.

  110. Nicole says:

Hi Joette, ok here goes, i got the 200c ledum, and gave my daughter one tiny pill at 4pm and then one tiny pill at 7pm. Then a friend informed me the dosage was 4 pills. So at 10pm, i gave her 4 tiny pills and continued this all night long every three hours. Do i continue the 4 pill dosage all day until tonight then? And then tomorrow start four pills, twice daily?
Can this harm my 3 year old?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I can’t be specific for your case, but if you follow the information I offer in this article, you’ll be using a protocol that has a history of working for those with acute Lyme infection.

It matters not the age of the person. Additionally, one pill likely will act as well as 4.

  111. Tish says:

Joette: I just found a tick engorged on my son. I started your protocol RIGHT AWAY. Given that he already has Lyme would you suggest anything extra than Step 1? Thank you

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

For years, I have used only step one after finding and removing tics found on my family members, pets and livestock and have never had problems. I trust Ledum 200.

  112. Courtney says:

    Hello,

I read your protocol for Lyme Disease. My dog was recently bitten by a tick, I removed it as soon as I found it and put alcohol on the bite. Everything I was suppose to do. Now it seems that a few days after the bite, he is suffering from mild lameness (limping on his front right leg). There are no other symptoms but I believe he has Lyme Disease, although I never got it diagnosed. I am trying to save some money by not bringing him to the vet unless I absolutely have to because the bill is going to be around $400 for all the testing. What do you suggest I do for my dog? He doesn’t seem to be in any pain, just a mild limp.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The protocols I use are right there in the article.

      1. Courtney says:

Yes, I read that…I was asking if that’s what I should do for it?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I don’t give personal advice here. I offer education and hope that you read the information carefully so as to come to your own conclusions.

  113. Courtney says:

    Hello,

I read your protocol and was interested in if it was the right choice for my dog. He was bitten by a tick about a week ago and just a couple of days ago I noticed lameness (limping on his front right leg). I don’t really have the money to dish out $400 for testing at the vet but I do believe he has Lyme disease or something because he seems to not be in any pain and is completely healthy. He was not limping before. What do you suggest? Thank you in advance for your advice.

  114. Cheryl says:

About 2-3 weeks ago, I took a tick off of my leg. It did not have the characteristic bullseye rash, but it did itch some. After about a week after the bite, I started to have flu symptoms. I first thought I was coming down with the flu, but later decided it was not the flu as I did not have a cough, cold symptoms, or sore throat. I ran fever for several days of up to 101 degrees or slightly higher. I had headache, muscle and joint pains, nausea, loss of appetite, very fatigued and weak. I soon associated my illness to the tick bite. I have not been diagnosed with Lyme and have not seen a doctor.

  115. Cheryl says:

(con’t) I prefer to treat naturally and not take antibiotics. I started taking mesosilver 1 TB 4 times a day. After a few days on the mesosilver, my fever stopped and my symptoms disappeared. I am almost 100% sure I had Lyme’s. With my symptoms gone and I am doing much better, would I still need to do your homeopathic protocol for the Lyme’s. I am concerned that if it was indeed Lyme’s, there is a chance that I may develop chronic Lyme’s and I would like to take precaution against that. I am still taking the mesosilver. If I need to do your protocol, what steps would you recommend me to take, step 1,2, or may be all three steps.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I trust homeopathy, so I use it instead of products. I know nothing about your case and since I don’t take cases on this forum I can’t guide you so as to what your next step would be. Having said this, I’d use homeopathy regardless of anything else that was taken.

  116. Teri kratochvil says:

    Don’t wait use this protocol

  117. blanca says:

i only have 30 c of ledum. and shipping will take days to arrive. can i go ahead and give her close to 200c of ledum using the 30c ledum? instead of waiting days to 200c ledum to arrive in the mail?
she did get bit by a tick, and i am worried that she got infected. she’s already on antibiotics too, just in case. please let me know, thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

In a pinch, we use what we’ve got. You might want to own a 200c kit that we have in our office.

  118. Lisa Roberts says:

My family and I are always outdoors and we live in one of the big Lyme infected states. Since the ticks are so small now I fear that we could miss one and not know we’ve been bitten. What are your thoughts on continually taking Ledum throughout the summer as a precaution. I’m thinking no but just need to ask. If you think it would be a good preventer, how much?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I would not suggest that anyone use a homeopathic for an extended period of time without pathology.

  119. Cheryl says:

I have the Ledum palustre 200 ck. It says to take 5 pellets 3 x day. For your protocol, would I take 5 200 ck pellets every 3 waking hours for the first day? Would 5 pellets be considered a dose? After day 1, then I would proceed to 1 dose twice a day for week, and etc.

  120. Cheryl says:

I have the aurum arsencicum 200c potency. The dosage is 10-15 pellets. What would your recommendation be within this range for your protocol?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      I don’t understand your question.

  121. kerimae says:

The link for Aurum arsenicum says that they cannot deliver to the USA. Just fyi 🙂

    1. kerimae says:

Actually, I’m having trouble finding it anywhere for sale. Do you know of a place? Thanks 🙂

      1. kerimae says:

        1. I found it: http://hahnemannlabs.com
        2. Lesson learned: read allllllllll of the comments first before asking a question
        3. God bless you for your incredible patience and persistance with everyone!

        Grateful!

  122. Cheryl says:

I have the aurum arsencicum 200c potency. The dosage is 10-15 pellets. For your protocol, how many would you specifically recommend as the dosage for the 10-15 range?

  123. Amy Peront RN says:

Joette, where can I source aurum arsenicum 200 as recommended in your Lyme protocol post? WHP doesn’t hadoesnt have it in pill form.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I believe its available now from Hahnemann Pharamacy in CA.

      1. Amy Peront RN says:

        Thank you so very much!!

        1. Amy Peront RN says:

Joette, Hahnemann onky carries in 10M potency. I’ve never used anything higher than 200c. Would we alter dosing frequency for this potency?
          Thanks so much!!

          1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Have you asked them if they’ll be carrying 200 again? I would not use 10 M for this condition.

  124. Janelle Ry says:

Hi! I’ve had three bites in the past 2 weeks and prior to finding this amazing source of info have taken Ledum 30c 3x/day for 3days following each bite. After exhausting my resources in local stores I’m ordering Ledum 200 from Amazon .
The link takes me to Ledum 200ck is this the appropriate one?
Shall I start at week 2 of the protocol or at the beginning
Is this protocol safe for me to follow while breastfeeding a 4 month old?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Yes, CK is the same as C and its a good idea to get Ledum 200. After taking a medicine 3x daily, even in the lower potency, it is usually not necessary to begin anew. But to be safe, perhaps a start on week 1 is a good plan.
One the best parts about homeopathy for me was that I took the medicines while nursing without a worry.

      1. Janelle Ry says:

Thank you so much!! It will be a week before it arrives at it’s not a primeoption on Amazon. I’ll start with week 1 as soon as it arrives. Any suggestions for the interim?

        1. Janelle Ry says:

I’ve got everything! Would each dose equal the amount indicated on the bottle? For some reason I was thinking 3tabs/dose but now seeing that bottle says 5/dose

          1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

We don’t use a medicine for every single condition; you must be more judicious and determine what the most pressing conditions are and use accordingly.

What is printed on the bottle is what is considered a dose.

  125. Janette says:

Would you do this protocol for any tick bite? We have dog ticks here. Thanks

  126. Cheryl says:

I have the aurum arsencicum 200c potency. The dosage is 10-15 pellets. Should I take 10 or 15 pellets?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Anywhere between 10-15 pellets is acceptable.

    2. Amy Peront RN says:

Cheryl, could you please share your source for aurum arsenicum 200? I am coming up short with all of my resources.
      Thanks so much!!

      1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

        Try Hahnemann Pharmacy in CA.

        1. Amy Peront RN says:

Their online catalogue showed only 10m potency.

          1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Catalogs are always limited.I’d contact them.

  127. Niti says:

Hello. Can the above protocol be used if my dog is diagnosed with ehrlichiosis? My dog tested positive for the same .
    Thnks

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Ledum and Aurum ars are specific for ailments from insect and animal bites.

      1. Niti says:

Thnks for your reply.. Ehrlichiosis is a tick bite disease just like Lyme and others so I think these should work?

        1. Niti says:

Hello. Please can you advise as the above mentioned is a tick borne/ bite disease and it lead to very low haemoglobin and platelets count in my baby.

          Thnks

          1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I don’t advise on this forum. What you are describing needs to be addressed by a professional homeopath who can fully take the case.

          2. Niti says:

Hello joette. Do you do private consultations? I was told that i can contact you and book the appointment for long distance consultation. Pls let me know how can same be done as im unable to find an option on the website. i need your advise an treatment urgently for both my fur babies ..thnks for your help!
            Rgds
            Niti

  128. Sarah Cusack says:

Hello, Do you think the Ledum protocol can help prevent red meat allergy after Lone Star Tick bite? Thank You so much, Sarah

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’m not aware that Ledum will eliminate allergies, regardless of the cause.

  129. Jessica suda says:

Hello I have a 3 month old baby and I am breastfeeding can I take the 200?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

We use specific protocols with their specific potencies. During pregnancy, while nursing, for newborns, for the elderly, cows, birds, the potencies used remain the same in these protocols.

  130. Jaclyn says:

Just pulled a tick off my 22month old. It was from a hike taken two days ago. I only have ledum 30. How do I dose that? Please help!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’ve not used Ledum 30 but if it was all I had, I’d use it in the same fashion. Meanwhile, I urge you to own a homeopathy kit with the most commonly needed remedies in 30 and 200 potency.

Should you be interested, you may contact my office in the AM and have Shannon send them out. 716.941.1045 9AM-4:30 EST.

    2. one more thing you can do is send the tick out to be tested for disease. its on.y $50 and you usually have results in less than a week. here is the link https://ag.umass.edu/services/tick-borne-disease-diagnostics

i always follow Joettes protocol through to the end anyway, but at least you have confirmation that the tick was or was not + for lyme bacteria and other diseasses
      blessings!

  131. Brenda says:

Hi I have access to the ledum but not the Aurum or Borrelia. I am located in Canada. Any thoughts on where I can purchase them. Thank you

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Try Helios Homeopathics in England…on line.

  132. Bea Coleman says:

Your protocols don’t state the number of pellets to take. For example ledum 200ck….tae 1 pellet every 3 hours, or more than 1 pellet every 3 hours?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I don’t include the number of pills because I don’t know which pharmacy you’re purchasing from. The number of pills is printed on the side of the bottle you purchase.

      1. Bea Coleman says:

        Ah! TY!

  133. Lynda says:

Thank you so much for this article and protocol! 6 weeks ago I found a tic on my inner thigh that was slightly imbedded and two more crawling on me on my backside. I did not have a bullseye rash or any other large rashes. I did have a few seemly random red spots that popped up on other parts of my body, but not that near to where the tic had bitten me or where we found the other tics. I haven’t been able to be tested for lyme disease but am concerned I may have it. I have had only a few mild symptoms of some heavy fatigue at certain points in the day and a bit of sleep disruption (maybe only 1 time in a week). I started on the protocol with the Ledum and have 2 questions:

  134. Lynda says:

    1) I only have 30C currently and read on another homeopathy site that dissolving the pills in water will make the dose more potent. Is this true from your knowledge base of understanding? If so, could taking 5 pellets of 30C dissolved in water be equal to a dose of 200C? If this is not the case, it sounds like from reading your comments above, I should just get the Ledum 200C and continue the protocol from the day I am on and not start over from day one?

    2) If I’m not sure I have lyme but only suspect, should I simply do the Ledum 200C protocol and then see how my symptoms are? If they stop then don’t do steps 2 & 3? If symptoms continue, should I continue with step 2 & 3 of the protocol even if I’m not able to get tested for lyme?

I’ll look forward to hearing from you soon, thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

If you hope to see results that are found by using 200c, it makes sense to use that potency. You will not get 200c using the method you describe.

I have always used Ledum 200 closest to the time of the bite even without knowing whether Lyme has been contracted or not. Its a protocol used for insect and animal bites in general and have never found that any further steps needed to be taken. Ledum is a powerful medicine.

  135. Debbi Stiles says:

I have not been able to find Ledum in a 200c. A friend asked her healthcare practitioner about it and he refused, saying the dosage was dangerous in that potency for general usage. Are there places to order it?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Click on the word “Ledum 200” in the article and it will take you to a place to purchase it. Amazon carries it.

  136. Christina says:

The product you list in step two is not available anywhere in the United States that I can find and I found out of country but they will not ship to the United States because of custom restrictions. Where do I buy this?

  137. Debbi Stiles says:

nope, skip Amazon, that was Arsenicum Album, sorry

  138. Lois says:

2 questions: I’m a newbie and just heard your talk on the Lyme summit. Are Ledum Palustre 200C and CK the same thing? We discovered an embedded tick early in May 2017, didn’t recognize what it was, applied antibiotic ointment which shrunk the thing, identified the tick several days later and removed it. There was no bullseye rash, but we know the tick regurgitated most of its fluid into my husband’s body. I froze the tick and took it to the MD. Pathology was not done because ticks here always test positive for Lyme, and my husband has just finished a month of antibiotics. Should we use your protocol with Ledum Palustre 200C or is something more needed now? Many thanks for your help!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

C is the same as CK.
I don’t offer specific advise to folks on this forum.

  139. Chandan says:

Hi, is 200C or 200CK the same as 200K (in France, by Boiron)? Many thanks for your help

  140. Hi Joette not sure if I understand how to treat a case of lyme that is only diagnosed 2 and 1/2 years after the fact. I have been told that I have to go on a water only diet for 21 days and have medical monitoring and that is too drastic for me…what protocol do you recommend….also if there is someone who has not been diagnosed is there a protocol for preventative/prophylactic remedies…this person is waiting on his results bu thinks it is lyme diseaese

  141. Joanna says:

Joette, when you recommended Hypericum and Arsenicum in place of Aurum I assume that these are also to be taken at the 200c potency? Thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      yes

  142. Hi Joette, a tick found me 14 days ago.., and I feel lyme symptoms and observed the signs of a co infection, bartonella as well. Should I start with Step 1?
    Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I can’t tell you what you personally ought to do, but if you read the article carefully, you’ll find your answer.

  143. Danielle Stout says:

Thanks so much for this info; my husband was just diagnosed and can’t even get out of bed. I will be using this. Quick questions – is it okay to use essential oils in combination with homeopathic remedies? I once had a naturopath tell me not to even keep them in the vicinity of each other and that they absolutely can’t be used together, but she wasn’t a homeopath. Thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Pls google “Joette Calabrese essential oils” and you’re likely to find the information you’re looking for on homeopathy and essential oils. The easy answer is to stay clear of them while using homeopathy.

  144. LINDA says:

I have a cat with Lyme and its destroying her kidneys. what can i use to help?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

If the disease is Lyme, then read the article again and it will give you the information you may be looking for. If however, the disease is really kidney failure or other kidney conditions, you might not want to assume that the cause is a Lyme infection.

  145. LINDA says:

She has been through every test possible, The vets are stumped. Blood pressure is perfect, no protein in the urine, no bacteria in the urine, ultra sound normal, her bun keeps increasing as her crea, and her eos, the rest of the blood work is normal. She is very lame and hurts all over, She does have a bad back but not for all the pain she is having, at times she looks like she has a head ache and she has developed a neurological twitch. with all these symptoms my conclusion LYME. Ive started treating her with Lyme nosodes by professional formulas and there was an immediate improvement, she could walk better, her appetite is better, her eyes even look brighter, so conclusion Lyme?. I just dont know if it will be enough at this stage. or if her kidneys are to far gone. or if they will come back if we get rid of the Lyme.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I would not consider this Lyme unless you have proof. You’re jumping over the obvious: Lame, hurts all over, headache, twitch. Use those and treat accordingly.

      1. LINDA says:

unfortunately there is no test for Lyme in cats. Yes she has been treated for all of the above at no avail . Everything else has been ruled out.

  146. Frank DuPree says:

Hi I have a miniature Schnauzer and she has bee diagnosed with tic fever she has no appetite and her immune system is down. The vet has given he meds for her appetite and checked her blood ,he has said her liver has been affected . I have given her ledum 1m about 2wks ago but she isn’t getting any better , my question is can I start her on ledum 200c as you prescribed now ? She took the 1m ,3times a day for three days and nothing since. I have the 200c here and will start her tomorrow if that can be given after she had been given the 1m . She runs a fever especially at night and she is very weak. Thank you ever so much for any advice you can share. Warmest regards , Frank

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

It matters not what was given previously.

  147. Sylvia says:

    Hello,
I have started a friend with the Ledum 200 as outlined in the article. Tomorrow is the 2nd day. He feels better when he takes it but not in between doses. So he asked me if he could take it more often. I said to take it according to the protocol. Can he take other remedies along with the protocol to help with the acute symptoms until the symptoms subside? Thanks

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

What I like best about no longer adhering to the classical method of homeopathy is that more than one medicine may be used in a schedule.

  148. Jocelyn says:

Hi Joette, my son was bit by a tiny deer tick a couple of weeks ago on July 28. I gave him one dose of Ledum 200c that day and then forgot about as he had no symptoms. On Tuesday he stated his ear hurts and sure enough there’s the red rash. He had a bunch of other complaints that matched Ledum also so I did it every 3 hours then have backed down to the twice a day. The rash is remaining and does have the classic bullseye look. Should I just stay the course with the Ledum or add in the autumn arsenicum also?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I can’t tell you what to do, but the schedule I lay out in this article has been my go-to for years.

  149. Sarah says:

What would your recommendation be regarding those of us who have Chronic Lyme? I see that you have stated at the bottom of your article that this protocol is not recommended for those more then 6 month old cases! I have recently been diag and do believe that my I got it from my mother along with passed it to my kiddos as well!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I use the symptoms that present and names of the conventional diagnosis, not the “cause” as my determining factor. If the condition is fibromyalgia, fatigue and anxiety, we use the medicines for these conditions, regardless of which microorganism might be the considered the “cause”. How does anyone know that its Lyme that’s causing the condition? It might be strep. Then again, it might be herpes. Then again, it could be the thyroid or previous use of antibiotics that cause the condition you’re suffering. To pin it on one microorganism is fool hearty. We use an intelligent way….the name of the condition and how it presents symptomatically. Then treat accordingly.

  150. Fulga says:

Thank you for your helping us, your patience and kindness.

I’ve heard that Borrellia 30 can be used for both prevention (called Lyme nosode, used instead of Lyme vaccine), and treatment of Lyme infection (in case the prevention fails). What is your opinion on this?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I don’t recommend that it be used on the chance that someone gets a tic. However, if a tic is found, that’s when I’d call it a prophylactic and its use becomes valuable.

      1. Fulga says:

Thank you Joette for your fast response; greatly appreciated; what is your stand on homeopathic nosodes in general as a replacement for harmful medication/vaccination? Dr Falconer /VitalAnimals from TX recommends Heartworm Nosode, Dr. Stephen Tobias from CT recommends Lyme Nosode. Both of them are well known homeopathic vets. I would be very grateful to hear your expert opinion, as one of the best homeopathic vets in the country

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

          I’m in agreement the vets.

  151. Maria says:

    Hello,
Would the Ledum protocol still be effective/appropriate if started on day 13 after the bite, or is it too late for homeopathy?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’ve used it many months later and it has been useful.

      1. Maria says:

Thank you for taking the time to answer!

  152. Cari Miller says:

Does anyone know if the Ledum treatment for Lyme is safe for a pregnant dog? For the past week I have found ticks on her and have been removing them asap. Thank you if you can help with my question.

  153. donna says:

They Lyme nosode is going to be out of stock “for quite some time” do you have any other recommendations that I could substitute?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’m not sure I know what you mean that it will be out of stock given that there is more than one pharmacy that carries it. Meanwhile, if you re-read the article, you’ll see that there are several remedies that I discuss.

  154. Melanie says:

First, thank you so much for all the information you provide on your website.
I was diagnosed with Rocky Mountain Spotted Tick fever on June 1, 2017. I have been on doxycycline since. I also have had Lyme disease probably 20-30 years ago. I have been having aching muscles for years & simply was not aware that Lyme stays in your body.
I have used Ledum 200 & that seems to help with muscle pain. I am adding Step 2.
I have read many of your blogs & have tried several remedies for fever, pain, etc.
However, I still run a low grade fever for several hours everyday because of the RMSF. i also experience fatigue. Is there a protocol for treating RMSF? I am having trouble finding information anywhere online. I really don’t think the doxy is doing anything to get rid of it.
    Thank you so

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I am responding on behalf of Joette who is presently traveling. I know that RMSF, as well as Lyme and other such conditions, is covered in her curriculum, Survivalist’s Guide to Homeopathy. You can check it out here https://courses.joettecalabrese.com/ and scrolling down to that title.

      I hope this helps.

  155. Ioannis says:

Dr Joette what is the potency that you use for lyme nosode?
When you are looking for the better pottency do you increase or do you increase the potency?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      Its all in the article.

  156. Barbara says:

Many many thanks for your advice on homeopathic treatment of Lyme disease.I am following it now. I used to be sceptical about homeopathy, but when homeopathy helped me to get rid of my allergic cough which had led to asthma in spite of steroid treatment I became a firm believer. I was taking steroids for 5 years and in order to keep my cough and asthma under control I had to keep increasing the dosage and frequency. The coughing was getting worse and worse. I stopped steroids and followed a course of homeopathic treatment and after about a month I stopped coughing and can breathe normally.Steroids left me with many side effects among others oral thrush. Please, could you advise me about a tr
    .eatment for oral thrush?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’m happy to hear of your successes, but I don’t advise personally on this forum. I plan to write about oral thrush in the future, but unfortunately it will be awhile.

  157. Adina says:

This is by far the most helpful article I have read, dr Joette.
Can this protocol be administered to an 12 yo dog positive for Rickettsia?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Except for the Lyme nosode, it should cover Rickettsia as well.

  158. Adina says:

I forgot to add he has low platelets (ITP), he has been on Doxycycline for 5 days and Prednisone for a week. I cannot stop the diarrhea and frequent urination even a week after stopping the treatment..

  159. Adina says:

Thank you very much for your reply.
Also..Should I take step 2 as well, since it’s a different tick disease? And..how do you determine if the disease is chronic? My dog’s symptoms started a month and a half ago, but last tick I took off him was almost an year ago. I never found any tick meanwhile. Would you say it is chronic in his case, and if so, is the protocol still the go to for him?
Thank you very much for your time and kindness in responding and helping.
    Bless you.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

A chronic disease means that the symptpoms are long lasting. 1 month of illness is not quite what I’d consider chronic.

  160. Adina says:

    Thank you for your reply.
I’ve had him on Ledum Palustre 200Ck and an immune boosting formula and astragalus powder for almost a week now and I don’t see any improvement. It actually got worse, where he doesnt eat anything and I feed him with a syringe. Tests and ultrasound didnt show anything else but Rickettsia. I’m at loss. I guess we aren’y lucky with the remedy.

  161. susan getlik says:

I am heart sick! My adult daughter’s 8 years old German Shepherd is very sick, including symptoms of losing weight, muscle mass, head bobbing, and balance trouble. She whines in pain from time to time, falls over easily, and after about 10 days on Doxycyline and more in depth blood work, it was determined by vet that she has chronic Lyme’s Disease! She also has protein in the urine, but liver, thyroid, white blood cells are within normal range. She likely was infected some time ago, but it was untreated until the symptoms grew much worse and they then realized there was a problem! We spoke to the vet yesterday after an office visit on Tuesday for the blood work, and she recommended stopping the antibiotic for 3 days to see if the dogs appetite improves, and to try to get some weight back on her. (She is down to about 61 lbs). The vet wants to follow up in 3 days to see if there is any improvement. She also recommended taking the dog to see a neurologist, but my daughter won’t be able to afford numerous tests, I am sure of that. I am no doctor, but I do believe the dog is very sick now due to Lyme disease. Is there any holistic regime you could recommend to try to help her improve? I am so sad and upset because I lost my German Shepherd 3 months ago to Degenerative Myloapathy! We did everything for her possible and she held on for a year, but in the end, she succumbed to the wretched disease! Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

  162. Dana Tavares says:

Looking for clarification on lyme protocol.

The protocol as stated in Joette’s blog:
    1st step Ledum palustre 200c e3h 1st day

    My questions:
    1) on the first day, e3h. Does this mean for 24 hrs or just during the day?

    2) at what point to start the Borrellia or Lyme nosode?

  163. betsy says:

What if a dog is experiencing paralysis in hind legs… all labs come up normal, chrio cant find anything… the dog has been bitten by lots of ticks… it is going on 6 months now… the dog is not in pain, can still run around dragging it’s hind legs, doesn’t seem to be suffering… any remedies for paralysis in hind legs with no other obvious symptoms?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I will be writing about neurological conditions in the future. Meanwhile, make certain he’s not eating macadamia nuts(especially) and other foods known to paralyze dogs hind legs. check out the list on line.

    2. Andrea says:

Check out Degenerative Myelopathy in dogs. I had a German Shepherd with this (one of the breeds it is common in), and my mother’s Golden had it as well. Her Golden also likely had Lyme. One curious symptom of DM is a hoarse bark, which the Golden had. They are unable to lift their back feet properly when testing by turning the paw with the foot bent, top to the floor and sole to the ceiling. You will also notice this dragging back foot while walking with difficulty bringing their toes up to stand on. There is a test for DM now. Of course it could be Lyme or both. DM occurs in older dogs.

  164. Rasa says:

Hi Joette, if I am diagnosed with Lyme, should I start with step 1( Ledum 200) or should I directly start with step 2 ( Aurum arsenicum 200) ??? Thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The protocol is to start with step one and carry on from there.

  165. Lexi says:

Hi Joette, I have two dogs that tested positive for Lyme and their titers are very high. It’s been a year since they tested negative at the vets office. So they have probably been infected for at least 6 months. I have started antibiotics and I’m looking for alternative treatment to aidin their recovery. Do you know if the nosode 30 would be a good place to start since its already a full blown infection? Also, is it safe for pregnant dogs?aa

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

At this point, it’s better to work with the conventional diagnosis. ie, arthritis, fatigue, bloating, etc. instead of assuming that it must be Lyme and only Lyme with the goal of killing the bugs.

  166. Val says:

Hi Joette, my son was diagnosed with Lyme 2.5 years when he was 13yo. It was captured within first 1-2 weeks and he was given a lot of antibiotics and looked like it was gone. But in the last few month we noticed stretch marks on his back and butt, and doctor diagnoses were Bartonella which, as I understood, was a common with Lyme. What course would you recommend for my son who is currently 15yo.
Doctor again prescribed another course of antibiotics

    Thank you

  167. Beth says:

    Hello Josette,

I have a few questions. I was diagnosed with Lyme in Sept 2017. I was on antibiotics since than and the only thing it’s doing is raising my candida levels in my gut. I still test IgM positive after being on antibiotics for over 6 months. I found your protocol and had a few questions before starting.
I will be starting with step 1 and go to step 3 as you advice. The question I have is when would you start step 2? Would you finish the Ledum round fully and then start the Aurum Arsenicum. I know you also mentioned using hypericum perforatum mixed with mrsenicum album if you can’t find the Aurum. I just was unclear of when you should implement the step 2.

With step 3 I just want to see are you saying that you would take the nosodes along with step 1 and 2? What I’m assuming your saying is to take it for 3 days, break for 3, then take it for 3 days, ect for a cycle of 3 rounds.

Also I found 1M of the remedies which is higher than you recommend. Would this be more beneficial for a long standing case like myself or would you recommend staying with the 200C?

Any issues with doing this protocol if you are on a herbal protocol for Lyme as well?

I have a 3 year old and saw you recommend using the same dosage for him if he was to contract lyme.
For a preventive measure, since we live in an area that is high populated with ticks, what would you recommend. Is there a protocol or information you have on this?

Thank you so much for your help,

  168. Heidi says:

Love it, thanks Joette for sharing your wisdom and experiences! Just getting rid of an EM rash without antibiotics.

what is the difference between ledum 200c and 200ck im trying to take steps to keeps my pets off conventional flea and tick meds

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

They’re not exactly the same but for practical purposes, are often used interchangeably.

  170. Jen says:

    Hi Joette,

I pulled off an engorged deer tick off my daugter last night. I started her on the Ledum 200C today (a dose every 3 hours). She came home from schoo today and felt weak and tired like she was getting sick. Can this happen from taking the Ledum 200C or would this be from the tick bite already?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I Can’t say why this has happened.

  171. rose sitter says:

    Hello Joette,

regarding step 1 of your protocol
Ledum 200c evey 3 hrs the 1sr day

is it 1 ledum tablet every 3 hrs the 1st day

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The number of pills that comprise a dose is printed on the outside of the bottle.

  172. Mayda says:

    Hello Joette,
Where can we get Aurum Arsenicum 200? I’ve checked a couple of places and they don’t seem to have the product.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Try Helios on line in UK.

  173. jujubeans33 says:

My 85 lb dog just tested positive for Lyme. I am hesitant about giving him the prescribed antibiotics for 28 days but want to be sure he is treated. Have you had success in curing dogs with this homeopathic protocol. If so, how long after administering should I re-test him to see if it worked? Also, is it safe to administer the nosodes simultaneously with antibiotics should I decide to give them to him?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I don’t treat dogs that simply show positive for Lyme but rather are sick with specific conditions that may or may not be related to an infection.

I would not use nosodes nor any homeopathic along with antibiotics because there’s no way of knowing what is acting. It leaves the case muddled.

  174. cmax356 says:

I was taking doxycycline for 3 weeks for Lyme disease off of the meds 1 week and I’m experiencing some horrible sun sensitivity rashes and itchy legs and my face burns is there any homeopathic remedy?

  175. Jess says:

Hi joette! My son is presenting with a rash that COULD be Lyme. But not definitely and I never saw a tick or bite. I’m nervous about Lyme as the hysteria is feeding my anxiety, so I’m wondering if it would hurt to try ledum to see if that causes the rash to go away? Or would you do a generalized skin rash protocol? No other symptoms just this strange rash.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I can’t make a decision for you but it sounds like you might want to make your decision based on hard facts and not fear. We treat what we know to be and go to other ideas if it fails.

  176. Claudia says:

Hello, i was diagnosed with Bartonella disease, a common co-infection of Lyme disease. would i follow the same protocols for Bartonella as you have here for Lyme disease?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

These protocols are specific for Borrelia infection.

  177. Nicolle says:

Hello! My husband was bit today by a deer tick. I’m buying the ledum palustre now but it won’t be here for a few days. When I receive it do I treat that as day one and give every 3 hours? Or would I now be into the week dosage. Thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

We begin at the very beginning.

I urge you to own a homeopathy kit so that important time is never lost waiting for the mail.

  178. Karen says:

I am very happy to report that my 18 yo son is almost completely healed of his chronic lyme using this protocol!!! He was diagnosed after about 6 months of joint pain that would come and go. We figure his lyme case was about 6-7 months old before his diagnosis. I used all three steps that Joette mentions in this post PLUS I added OHM’s Lyme support #1 that you can buy from OHM Pharmacy as a 4th step. After about 6 months of using homeopathy, he no longer has symptoms!! I wanted to let everyone know to not lose hope!

    1. Bea Coleman says:

Karen what hope you inspired with your positive update for chronic lyme! Can you clarify step 3? I am confused. You take the Borellia once a day for 3 days….then off for 3 days….then again once a day for 3 days…then off for 3 days? Or is it simply take it once a day for 3 days…then not again for a month…2 months? This simply is not clear to me.

  179. Cheryl says:

Is Aurum Arsenicicum the same as aurum arsenicum? Aurum Arsenicicum is available to purchase at Hahnemann Latoratories.

      It is the same.

  180. Heather says:

I found Ledum Palustre at 30c. What kind of schedule could I do with this dosage? My kids are in a nature preschool and we find about a tick a week during the school year.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

200 is the correct potency. Click on the word in the post and it will take you to a purchasing site.

  181. Joanne says:

When on a ledum remedy treatment, are there foods you need to avoid? I’ve read that onion, garlic, mint and alcohol should be avoided during a homeopathic treatment period. Is this true for all homeopathic remedies? And are there any other items to avoid?

I treated my dog with Ledum for her tick bite when I noticed front paw lameness and then seen her also favoring the back a week later. I have started step 2, however my dog still has the stiffness and lameness when first getting up after she has been lying down but it usually don’t last long sometimes less then 1 minute then she walks fine. I took her to the vet and they tested her for lymes and the results were negative, can you test negative after treating with Ledum? Also if this is her issue for lameness with the symptoms go away eventually?

  185. Joanne says:

Joette, I have posted several days ago on this site and you have been very helpful. I am currently reading your podcasts and blogs to begin learning more. In the meantime, I have a few questions. I had ofound a tick on inside of my pant leg about 1 month ago. I found 2 bites on that leg, I think it tried to attach but I moved too much because it wasn’t engorged but it was a deer tick. I live in Maine. So I talked to my doctor via phone and ended up in emergency 5 days later because one of the bites had a welt that became a red circle about half dollar size. They didn’t believe it was Lyme since it didn’t seem tick was attached long enuf but weren’t sure because of the rash. The doctor gave me 1 prophylaxis doxy and Said to see my doctor in one month…sooner if I got flu like symptoms. I decided to search internet to see if ledum would help since I’ve read about it for my dogs. I ended up talk g with a homeopath who put me on ledum 200c every other day for 12 days and echinacea 3/day. He was very unclear on how. I could antidote this regime. That’s when I found your site. Out of frustration. After the 12 days I realized zed I might have antidoted when I Applied nail polish on my nails. (Sorry for the length of this email. Wanted to give you my history). A few days ago I started getting tingling and some pain in my legs and worry these might be Lyme symptoms. Can I start ledum again but use your regime described above just to be safe? And do I need to do step 2 also? Thank you for your guidance.

  186. Joanne says:

I’m not sure if my earlier question was rejected. I had A question about using ledum as indicated by you for a tick bite of 1 month ago after I already used another protocol by another homeopath. I went to emergency 1 week after tick bite and they gave me 1 prophylaxis doxy. I went on internet for homeopathic help. I used a different protocol from a internet homeopath that I may have antidoted and I have since developed symptoms that may be Lyme symptoms. Muscle pain and tingling. In my earlier lengthy note, I shared that the protocol was ledum 200c 1 every other day for 12 days and echinacea. This ended a week ago. Now I’m getting this discomfort. Would it be Ok for me to begin your protocol ? Would this be safe and wise in case I did antidote? Would I need step 2. Would it be better if I called your office/company rather than here?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Your questions need more attention than I can offer with a simple answer on a blog. Should you be interested in an appointment, feel free to contact my office.

  187. Nikkea says:

My daughter already has a diagnosis of chronic Lyme disease and is going through integrative treatment. Just got bit again in June 2018. She started Ledum 200 and is almost done with this aspect of your plan. Should I go forward with Aurum Arsenicum 200 or is that unnecessary since she already has the previous diagnosis of chronic Lyme? Thank you so much.

  188. Monica Vazquez says:

I am so happy to be learning about your protocol! I will be giving it to my child that was bit both 2 1/2 and 3 months ago although he doesnt show any symptoms. Since the disease and coinfections are spread through saliva and other bodily fluids, should our whole family do the entire protocol along with him? Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

This protocol is specific for when there has been a bite.

      1. Monica Vazquez says:

Thank you for your response Joette! In regards to my question yesterday about my son getting bit twice about 3 months ago and not showing any symptoms, would it be recommended that he complete the entire protocol or just Ledum?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

When there’s no illness, I usually use Ledum only.

          1. Monica Vazquez says:

I was able to get a hold of Aurum in the liquid form but the dose is not on the bottle. I called the company (Archeus) to inquire and they said the dosage is specified by the physician. Can you provide guidance? Also, to clarify, aurum would be fully completed before moving to the third step?

          2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

That’s odd. A manufacturing pharmacy should be able to tell you how many drops comprise a dose. Don’t ask them for the frequency but rather the number of drops taken at one time.

      2. Monica Vazquez says:

        Thank you!

  189. Karen Scheer says:

So what DO you recommend for chronic (24 yrs.) Lyme?
I wasn’t diagnosed/treated for 6 months. Did fairly well for
11 yrs. on and off antibiotics although with occasional
“attacks” to thyroid, intestines, weight gain, and fatigue
worse than ever. After 6 months of antibiotic shots, much
improvement. 5 yrs. later old symptoms returned as well
as new ones – depression, brain fog, focus and concentration
worsened and cost me my job. Now chronic pain and spasms,
fatigue, equilibrium problems, memory loss, hearing loss,
    and no insurance.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

In homeopathy, generally, we don’t treat a microorganism for a chronic condition. That’s because it may not be THE one that’s causing this or that. Instead, we go after the conditions as they present. For this, we use organ-specific and symptom-specific medicines. Hence one for depression/brain fog, etc and another for hearing loss, another for thyroid.

I would not call this a case of Lyme Disease but rather a case of thyroid disease, ailments from antibiotic use including weight gain and neurological ailments.

I know you’re looking for one tidy remedy but that’s not how it’s done.

  190. Joanne says:

Joette, my dog was bitten by a tick. I started the ledum protocol immediately as described above. He is now in the twice a week phase for ledum and I just found another tick feeding on him. Is he still covered within my protcocol or should I begin again with the every 3 hours, etc? Thank you.

  191. Carol says:

Are you saying you haven’t seen any help with chronic Lymes disease using Homeopathy?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’m not saying that. Re-read the post.

  192. Casey says:

Great Article! I have been suffering with Lyme like symptoms and have had many blood test, mri’s ect with no diagnosis.. My mom has Lyme and feels all my symptoms are Lyme. Rashes, neuro issues, muscle weakness ect.. Standard Elsa Lyme test show negative and I have never found a tick but have been bitten by bugs camping, traveling ect… Would this protocol be something that might be beneficial if it’s been a long time and no tick or tick bite ever found? I’m desperate and it’s been 7 years and all test is showing nothing is wrong, even thyroid..Thanks

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

This protocol is pretty specific for active Lyme. Instead of chasing after the potential of symptoms being associated with a specific microorganism, the method I use/teach is to use symptoms to uproot the condition…no matter the cause.

  193. Casey says:

Ok thank You! How do I learn about this? DO you offer a class or one on one consults?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Yes I offer classes! Look on the front page of my site where you’ll find on the right side of the front page “courses” and “services”.

  194. Em says:

Hi Joette what a brilliant and kind person you are for patiently helping everyone! You are amazing!
My question is about hyper sensitive People who have very strong reactions to homeopathy. Should they start on lm1/2 doses of Ledum or do you think 30 is low enough? I’m worried 200 is way too strong.
    Thanks for your help!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Most folks who are afraid of 200 potency are not really sensitive to it but rather are using the wrong remedy, or are using a remedy at the wrong times. I have no experience with using Ledum 30. Let me also make it clear that this protocol is used for when you find a tic; not when you think maybe you might have been infected or when it shows up in a blood test.

  195. Maria says:

    Dear Mrs.Calabrese,
My son was going through this Lyme protocol for a tick bite that happened in March (taking ledum as outlined in step 1) when he got bit again two days ago. Should we restart the protocol for the recent bite while finishing the protocol we started in March? Thank you!

  196. Cathy Hoag says:

My husband just now told me he had a tick attached a week or so ago. How do I use Ledum at this point for prevention or treatment?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The regime may be commenced at any time after a tic is found but after a short while, I’d expect that it’s no longer necessary.

  197. anubhav says:

  198. Cristina Crawford says:

Hello!! I wonder if we can use this protocol in cats? And how many pellets for each remedy? Thanks

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Homeopathy is used for all creatures, great and small. The number of pills that comprise a does is usually around 4 for a small animal.

  199. Jen says:

Hi Joette, thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. It is greatly needed by myself and many. My question: Does the Ledum dosage or concentration vary by person’s weight/size? E.g., Does a 200 lb person take the same dose as a 120 lb person or a 50 lb child?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      No.

  200. Terry Suchodolski says:

Hi my dog was diagnosed with lymes disease 3 years ago and she was put on Prednisone for a year and a half and she became aggressive on it so we stopped it and put her on a homeopathic liquid for dogs but it has become to expensive for me to keep buying and was wondering how to use your protocol for her?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I don’t recommend using this protocol for a chronic case. Instead, we use the symptoms that present such as joint pain etc. to determine the homeopathic.

    2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I didn’t intend to be vague, but instead of focusing on the microorganism, use the symptoms to determine what homeopathic can be put to use. For example, if there are joint pains, use that set of words in my blog for joint pain remedies.

  201. Kacy says:

    1) When you say “Hypericum perforatum mixed with Arsenicum album” do you mean a dose of each?

    2) so if I find a tick on me or my kids, just the ledum will take care of it? Would it be overkill to use the others?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

One dose of each taken simultaneously.

      1. Carina says:

Is it Hypericum 200c? And Arsenicum Album 200c?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

          no.

  202. Caroline says:

    Hi
I have a rescue dog who has tick fever and is failing ehrlichia test as I’m trying to get him into Australia, when I rescued him 4 years ago I tested for tick fever and he had it we tried 3 courses of antibiotics and nothing I’ve also tried hydrogen peroxide protocol colloidal silver and high dose Vit C and has no luck, this poor dog is coming from China and I’m desperate to cure him after all these years I believe he has Babesiosis any help with this would be very appreciated 🙂

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Once the disease is established we use the name of the condition that presents as well as the symptoms. In other words, it’s not a matter of which microorganism is present but what it’s causing. Arthritis? Use my blog on that condition.
Diarrhea? Use my blog on that condition.
Remember that in homeopathy we’re not treating symptoms; we’re using them to determine which medicines will do the work.

Should you be interested in knowing how to incorporate this step by step method, go to my course “Antibiotic Alternative”.

  203. Liz Z. says:

Hi! My 20 year old just got home from being in PA at a friends farm. She was in the shower n noticed a tick on her calf. She said it came off easily. I ordered the ledum but it won’t get here till Tuesday and today is Sunday. What can I do in the meantime? I am going to Whole Foods tomorrow to see if they have it. Also what probiotic do you recommend? Should I be panicking?! I also emailed you a pix of the spot where the tick was and a video. Please let me know what to do. Thank you and God Bless.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Not every tick carries Lyme and not every person who has been bitten by an infected tick gets the disease. If all of that still lines up, I’ve witnessed far too many folks who have contracted Lyme and recover quickly without fanfare using homeopathy to have angst about a tick bite. Having said this, Ledum 200 used within days of discovering a tic is still within the realm of acting as a good prophylactic.

This, however, is your call to action to own a few homeopathy kits. One that has at last 100 30th potency medicines and another with 200 potencies. You may purchase them online or by contacting my office.

  204. Sydney says:

We just removed a tick from my daughters head one week ago. There is no rash or fever but her lymph nodes behind her one ear have swelled up – large like the size and hardness of marbles. In addition to the protocol above do you recommend anything to help with the lymph swelling?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I can’t make specific recommendations on this forum. However, if you Google my name you’ll likely find a few articles with information on lymph nodes.

  205. Bea Coleman says:

Hi Joette! My friend pulled a tick from her daughter 11 days ago and immediately started this lyme protocol. There was no mark until day 6, when she developed a fever, fatigue, and bullseye target. She was taken to the doctor to get Doxy at that point (she continues with the homeopathic protocol as well). Here’s my question; why did she get the bulls eye target if she was on ledum? Is this normal and would the target have disappeared without the doxy? Does the appearance of the bulls eye target mean that the ledum protocol wasn’t working?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Without asking several more questions, it would be difficult for me to assess.

  206. Celeste Oliver says:

Hi Joette, I am so happy to have found this fabulous information.

I live in an area with alot of ticks, and while I’m not aware of a tick bite anywhere, or,an unusual rash, after telling my doctor I had a few days of being crushingly tired, (since better) she tested me for Lyme May 20th. It came back positive for Igm P39 ab. Last week I had another test and Igg P41 an came back positive as well.I eat very well and do herbal antibiotics/anti vitals, non-GMO as much as possible, etc. I havent heard back from the doctor yet. Should I wait and get another blood test in a month to see if anything else shows up or start on Ledum now? Thank you!

  207. Randi says:

Is the hypericum supposed to be 30c or 200c? The link takes me to a 30c.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

It’s 200. If the link continues to do that, simply go to Boiron.USA and order it directly from them. In the code box, use the code “joette” and you’ll receive a discount.

      1. Kim says:

This is so unfortunate. I just finished the week of the hypericum and arsenicum as you posted and I took 30c of hypericum due to your link. Did I waste a week of this regimen?? Do I do another week with 200 of both? Frustrated and your answer is much appreciated. I have a study group ready and replied to this thread earlier.

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

It’s likely not a wasted week. USing the correct potency is just more closely targeted.

  208. Jessica Oakley says:

Thank you for this information. My daughter’s titer came back positive after noticing a swollen and hot knee. I started her on ledum, and this is the second day. Is there a cutoff to see if the ledum is working. The keg seemed better then back to what it was when we got it checked. I don’t want to let it go too long if the ledum isn’t working. Much appreciated.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

To be clear, the protocol that I posted is not used for chronic Lyme but for a fresh bite from a tic. Without taking the case and learning the particulars, it would be difficult to offer an opinion.

  209. Kim says:

Hello! I will be starting a study group! But darn, I think I got Lyme about a month ago and did not do Ledum because I never saw the tick. I always give to my boys after removal. I am confused by your responses as you keep clarifying that this protocol is only at first tick removal, yet you do go into the steps if you suspect infection. The 2nd steps are for infection and Ledum is still to be taken, so this IS also a protocol for those infected, correct? My Dr gave me a Lyme Nosode and I’m unsure if this is a good adjunct. I am still nursing a toddler to sleep and freaking about passing to my sweetie. Your expertise and kindness is so very appreciated!!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

There are too many pieces to what you report left unknown. Nothing has been said as to what the actual condition is, only a suspected microorganism. A potential etiology is not something worthy of treatment. Many people show Lyme and co-infections, as well as EBV, heavy metals, systemic yeast, etc. In homeopathy, we don’t use that information. Instead, we use the name of the condition that is presenting and its symptoms.

  210. Kim says:

PS. The Lyme Nosode has a bunch of things in it including co-infections and Rocky Mountain spotted fever… that’s why I am on the fence…

  211. Kim says:

I got bullseye and flu-like symptoms. I’m doing a Sakt and C cure that healed my husband along with your Banji Protocol. I just did not get the Borrelia 30 because we are on a road trip. I do have the Lyme Nosode and wondering if it is a good adjunct, but has Rocky Mountain in there plus co-infections. I was just wondering your take on this added to your suggestion and if nursing. I greatly appreciate your time and cannot wait to gather like minds when we return for a study group.

  212. Alyssa says:

I just pulled two ticks off my baby, just 4 months old, a couple hours ago. They were microscopic!!! They looked like maybe larva stage. Should I do step 1 for her, even at her age?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

We use homeopathy for all ages.

      1. Alyssa says:

Do I put 5 pellets for her? Or should I dissolve in breast milk for her to take easier? 5 seems like a lot for her to do at once.

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Use one dose as per directed on the side of the bottle into water or milk.

  213. Emily says:

Joette – thank you so much for putting this amazing info here. When I have enough funds I am hoping to get a consultation.

My question is should the dose be the same if someone is very sensitive to homeopathy? Can it create a proving? Would this be the same protocol for lyme with skin symptoms – morgellons? Thanks so much! Emily

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Any time a homeopathic medicine is used for the wrong condition and is repeated used it has the potential for causing a proving. This protocol is not to be used for chronic Lyme but for the potential of a forthcoming infection.

  214. Leah says:

When you say every 3 hours do you just mean after I wake up til I go to bed or I get up during night and take it? So maybe like 5 doses in a day? Something like that? Thanks

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

We use a medicine every 3 hours including throughout the night only when there is something serious that is keeping the person awake or quite ill. Otherwise, it’s used during awake hours.

      1. Leah says:

Thank you for responding. Ok so after the first day do I take it 2 more times that same week or do I wait til the next week? Thanks.

        1. Leah says:

Dang it. I messed it up. I didn’t read the part where it says twice daily after you do every 3 hours first day. I did the every 3 hours earlier this week. Should I just start over or start taking it twice daily for a week starting now? ?

  215. Leah says:

Hi. Not sure if you are seeing my post. But I did the every 3 hours then didn’t read correctly you were supposed to 2 times a day. So should I start over and do the every 3 hours again? Or just start the 2 times a day now. I did the every 3 hours about 5 days ago? Thanks for your help.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

By taking a medicine more frequently than the protocol calls for, wouldn’t call for re-starting. Its already been taken more than needed.

  216. mary says:

Hi, I have had chronic lyme disease and coinfections for 15 yrs. Will this rememdy still work for us with chronic lyme disease? Thank you for helping all of us. I have been bed ridden and feel like I am dying daily.

    Thank you so much!

    Mary

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

This protocol is to protect against Lyme at the acute state, not necessarily act on chronic Lyme.
When people tell me they have chronic Lyme, I go past that in my questions and instead ask what it is they’re suffering; not what the cause might be. Instead, rather what the name of the condition is such as joint pain, fatigue, anxiety, chemical sensitivities, etc. Then, we use these conditions to determine the homeopathic medicines that are appropriate, not the potential that it’s this or that microorganism that might be causing the condition.
Because, how can we possibly know for sure what microorganism is causing the condition? In my estimation, that approach is wanting.

I also ask questions about dental extractions and root canals.

  217. Claudia says:

    Dear Jolette,
Is Aurum Arsenicum a mixed product of Aurum and Arsenicum? Cause then I can mix it myself.

  218. Christina Mancini says:

Well, it’s the one you miss, isn’t it. I went for a hike yesterday, checked myself for ticks and saw nothing. Until today. A deer tick was working his way into my left side about 6 inches below my armpit. I took him off with a tick stick and put him into rubbing alcohol, then into a plastic bag. He was not engorged.

Just took 3 doses of 1M ledum. Shall I continue the protocol preventatively?

And will this protocol also work on the other nasty coinfections that are now hitting the northeast, some of which are supposedly “indurable”? HELP!!!!

  219. Bethany M Skarupa says:

Does “anytime after using ledum” mean after starting Ledum? Or finishing it?
    Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I don’t understand your question. See if you can rephrase.

      1. Debra N Lynne says:

I have re-read the protocol several times and have the same question… Is Step 2 to be done along with Ledum after it is started or after Ledum is finished.

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

“If I thought that someone in my family had Lyme that was older* and more entrenched, I’d still follow Step 1 and add Step 2 at any time after using Ledum. But I don’t believe Step 2 is necessary if the tick was discovered in the last few days or so.”

          keywords: “after using”

  220. Corinne says:

I have been pulling deer ticks out of my dog for several weeks now. I’d been giving him Ledum 30c daily but then got some Ledum 200c and have given him that 2x/day for the last two days. This morning I pulled a hugely engorged tick that was hidden in a whorl of fur on his neck. My question is, when I am still pulling ticks daily, do I keep repeating the 200c twice daily or do I decrease the frequency of dosage as in the protocol for pulling the first tick? Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’d consider each tic as a fresh start.

      1. Corinne says:

That’s how I felt. Thank you!!

  221. Pramilla Malick says:

My dog has several tick bites and now has trouble walking. Should I give him ledum 30C or 200C. which is more potent and which do we start with.

    1. Pramilla Malick says:

also cant seem to find aurum arsenicum..is it imperative to start with that or can I start with ledum

      1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Find it at Helios in England.

      2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Generally, we commence with what we have available at the time and add in other medicines as they arrive.

    2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

My articles are always clear as to which potency I use.

  222. Leah says:

If I have completed the first step but it’s been a few months, can I still move to second step or do I need to start protocol over?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

This protocol is generally used at the time of the insect’s appearance or as close to that time as possible.

      1. Leah says:

Ok well I did the first step as soon as I could, but then I tested positive for some Lyme bands so was now wanting to add the second step. So should I repeat the first step before I do the second since it’s been a few months? Or just do the second step now without repeating the first? Thank you for your guidance!

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

This protocol is specific for use at the time of the infliction; not if/when testing shows positive for Lyme.

          1. Leah says:

But how would you know to do step two if you hadn’t been diagnosed with Lyme?

          2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

We use the protocol at the time the insect is discovered. Once symptoms have been realized, we use a different set of protocols based on how the condition presents.

  223. Rose Swan says:

    Hi Joette,

You did not specify the dilutions for the arsenicum album and the hypericum perforatum to use in replacement of the “hard to get” aurum arsenicum. Can you please let me know what the dilutions are for these? Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Hypericum Perf.200 and Arsenicum album 200.

  224. Amy says:

I realized after the fact that I did not take the correct dose of Ledum. I followed the protocol for the first week and a half but with only one pellet instead of the five that was directed on the package. Would it be beneficial to restart the protocol of just continue on with the proper dose from here out?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Even though I urge folks to take the number of pills printed on the side of the bottle as one dose, one pill often does the trick.

  225. Kelly Pinchart says:

I’m checking in about the number of pellets to use. I read in someone else’s post to use what it says on the side of the package. The package says 5 pellets 3 times a day so different frequency than your protocol. Should we give 5 pellets every 3 hours, then 5 pellets twice a day for a week etc etc? Thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The bottle does not know what you’re using the medicine for but is required by the FDA to give some directive.

  226. Anna Karkovska says:

    Hi Joette,
What if I have Ledum 30C. How would the tick bite protocol change and can I be certain it would be as effective?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I can’t say how effective it would be since my experience is in the use of 200. However, if an emergency arises in which you need Ledum 200 and all you have is 30, use what you’ve got until you can get what you need.

  227. Jessica says:

I started my son on Ledum 30c while I waited for the 200. He took it for a day every 3 hours and then twice the next day before it arrived. I now have the 200 ck , should I re start the protocol with the 200 ck or continue with tapering using the 200ck?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I know nothing of the case so it would be difficult for me to comment.

  228. Gayle De Young says:

Hello, I started getting sick March 17th, had no rash and no known bite. Very sick and tested negative. Finally tested for Lymes and positive. Been on Zithromax, Levaquin, keflex and then the 4 weeks of Doxy and when that completed symptoms started to return, headaches, dizziness, tingling of hands and feet. They restarted me on Doxycycline and seeing an infection disease doctor tomorrow. Where do I start?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The protocol I discuss here is used at the time a tic is found not after the condition is established.
Should you be interested, my course titled The Antibiotic Alternative covers conditions that are treated with antibiotics and their appropriate alternative protocols.

  229. Jayanthi says:

Hi Joette, I got a tick byte during mid April and got a rash (not bulls eye), neck stiffness and headache in a 10 days. I wasn’t aware of Lyme until after getting the rash. Doctor prescribed Doxycycline for 3 weeks. I found your article and started off with Ledum 200 and then continued with along with doxy. So, I started using both Ledum 200 & Doxy from day 13 of the tick byte.
I’m still continuing Ledum as per your suggested dosage. I still have dizziness (vertigo) before going to bed and bit sensitive to sound. Please advise if I can start with step 2 medicine now. Thanks in advance.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I don’t personally advise on this forum. However, given that homeopathic medicines are indeed medicines, its important to know when to halt their use. Based on what you’ve said here, it’s difficult to determine for how long you’ve used the medicine but as I teach in this blog, it should be used at the onset of the bite, not for extended periods of time long after the event.

  230. Jess says:

    Hi,

Can Ledum still be used while my 10 year old son is on antibiotics? Can I be giving him both at the same time? And do I still give him the amount you suggested per day?

    Thank you kindly.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Homeopathics may be used simultaneously with conventional medicines without adjustments.
Having said this you might want to find an MD that uses other methods and doesn’t resort to antibiotics for a simple infection.

  231. Julia says:

I found a tick on me a week ago. Am I too late to start Step 1 with every 3 hours, etc.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Generally, we use the protocol within about 10 days of sighting a tic.

  232. Jessica says:

I pulled a non embedded tick off my 2 year old today and a little red mark so it may have pinched the skin. , will the protocol be effective with ledum 30c or do I need to 200c? Lastly do any of your courses have info on tick bites? We are in a tick infested area, just south of buffalo and I want to be prepared !

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

South of Buffalo?! We moved to FLA from Colden 2 yrs ago.

When I offer a protocol the potency is specific regardless of age, etc.
I have a very in-depth guide titled A Survivalist Guide to Homeopathy.
      https://survivalmedicine.joettecalabrese.com/survivalist-guide-to-homeopathy/

If you live in the country, you would find this guide invaluable.

  233. Eva says:

    Hi Joette,

This is amazing information and I only wish that I was as alert and equipped with this knowledge a couple of years ago. I am suspecting my daughter has lyme, for two years but all the tests came back negative. I would love to contact you personally so I can give you the details. Could you please let me know how? Also, do you have any suggestions on how we can treat her as I understand this article is for acute lyme. I am at my wit’s end. Please help. Thank you.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Feel free to contact my office and Eileen will help you. Go to the front page of my website, JoetteCalabrese.com, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Contact”.
‘Look forward to working with you.

  234. S says:

    Hi,
I have 5 year old Lyme confirmed on a Asyra Scan. He has no visible tick bite…but it is believed it has been passed down from birth. He may also have Neuro Lyme.
He also as Autism. He has behaviour, sleep, eating issues(eat very little), underweight, as well as Autism symptoms such as non verbal, social, mitochondrial issues.

Please advise me on what to treat first…Lyme or Autism symptoms.

    1. S says:

…Continued…Please also advise the best protocols for this.

    2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

This is a case for either an advanced student (of my online courses Mindful Homeopathy and Good Gut Bad Gut) or a seasoned homeopath.

  235. cindy litchke says:

Good morning, thank you for this article. I would like to order from the online OHM as your student, but not sure how? or do I qualify as a student due to taking the smaller courses of Gateway to Homeopathy and Cell Salt course?
    Thank you for your time

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

If you’ve complete the course and your group leader submitted the paperwork you should have received a certificate that allows you to purchase from OHM.

  236. Dina says:

Dear Joette, thanks a lot for sharing this protocol with us! We followed it from the moment I found a tick on my 5 years daughter. On day 21st after the tick bite (recommended by our pediatrician) we made a blood test and the results are doubtful. There were no symptoms, just a slight headache yesterday and the day before yesterday. Should we now move to step 2 or 3 or first finish step 1 with Ledum?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Generally speaking, in homeopathy when a medicine is acting we don’t veer from its use and add another. Another way of saying this is that we don’t tinker with success.

      1. Dina says:

        Dear Joette,
Thanks a lot for your quick response. We did additional blood elispot test and Borrelias were negative, but bartonella is slightly positive. Should we still continue with Ledum or is there a different protocol for Bartonella? As for the symptoms she complained about the pain around her knees for a couple of days a few days ago.

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I don’t dismiss tests but usually, a more direct way to approach these kinds of situations is to simply use the symptoms to determine the medicine instead of assuming that this or that microorganism is the cause. Because indeed it may not be. And you would have spent a lot of time rooting around in that rabbit hole when in homeopathy we simply use the symptoms to determine the remedy choice. We don’t treat symptoms; we use them to determine the remedy choice.
Hence I urge you to look on my blog and choose a medicine that deals with joint pain at the knees.
If you’re not a member of Joette’s Mighty Members or a member or one of my study group, Gateway to Homeopathy, I urge you to consider that your next step. This will make more sense to you if you dive a little deeper.

  237. Michelle says:

I only have Ledum 30 started that before antibiotics. I took 7 every 3 hours. Now I gave aantibiotics. Can I do both?
I was sick then got a rash and joint pain 14 days after flu like symptoms.
Should I still do Ledum 30c ? If so how much?

  238. Michelle says:

Please disregard my question – after spending a chunk of time reading questions and answers I found my answer. I thank for the good info.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I love that you did that. That’s what I always hope folks will do.

  239. Shannon Adolph says:

I started the protocol yesterday but I only had Ledum palustre 30c on hand. I ordered 300c from Amazon but it won’t arrive until 4 days after starting protocol. Should I continue to follow the same protocol with the 30c and continue on with 300c or do you recommend I do something differently? Thank you!

    1. Shannon Adolph says:

      Sorry typo I meant 200

    2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I always say “Use what you’ve got until you can get what you need”.

  240. Laura says:

the Tick that but me was negative for Lyme but positive for Anaplasmosis. Do you have experience with that?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

We use Ledum 200 for insect bites regardless of the microorganism associated.

  241. Adrienne Albano says:

I read in the notes that you should start over with lednum every three hours if you find a new tick attached. I began showing signs of Lyme disease at the end of June, but since I continue to find new ticks and keep starting over, I feel like I am going to be taking lednum all summer and might never make it to step two. I’m wondering if it is still appropriate to follow the protocol under these circumstances.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I don’t believe it’s appropriate to continue for extended periods of time with any homeopathic protocol that is intended to be used in an acute situation.

  242. Ingrid says:

My cousin has Babesia from a tick bite. Is there a different option other than Borrelia under step 3 or will the Borrelia work for Babesia also?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

We don’t treat microorganisms. Instead, we use symptoms to determine medicine choice.

  243. Nick says:

    Hi!

In step 1, it says take Ledum palustre 200c every 3 hrs on the fist day and then twice daily for a week…etc. How many pellets should be taken at one time over the course of that phase?

    Thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The number of pills that comprise a dose is printed on the outside of the bottle.

      1. Nick says:

Thank you very much! I figured as much from reading comments and the bottle but I just wanted to be specific with the above protocol. Was bit 8/1/20 by a tick. On for
equal to or less than 24hrs. After finding this, started the ledum palustre 8/9/20 as described above just to be proactive. PCP wasnt much help. Given a script for a west blot test in a few weeks.

I Thank you again very much for sharing this protocol. It has given me piece of mind as this is my first tick experience and want to avoid unnecessary medications, antibiotics and inaccurate blood tests.

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

          My pleasure.

  244. Nick says:

    Dear Joette,

Nick again, I have been browsing your blogs and learning a lot about the basics (C vs X..etc).

Earlier you mentioned antibiotics may affect homeopathy. I had about 20g of pure non-gmo vitamin C powder per day (past few days which can act as an antibiotic) while I started ledum palustre 5 days ago.

Generally speaking, would vitamin c nullify or adversely interfere with what ledum is doing? I couldnt find anything in your blog about vitC or a google search.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      No problem.

  245. Jacky says:

Hi, l have been chronically ill for over 40yrs and believe it was from a tick bite but have no proof. Over the years spent 10s of thousands trying to find something to help or cure me. I realised 2 yrs ago that l was probably dealing with Lyme disease. I did see a homeopath about 20yrs ago but do not think she knew how to treat me. Anyway 3 weeks ago l started using your protocol but have jiggled it around and still experimenting. I realised today after rereading and looking at people’s comments, that l wasn’t using enough and often enough. So increased it today and it really is helping me. I don’t know how long l will be doing this for but will carry on as Li g as l improve. My worst symptoms are neurological, tremors. Eyesight, vertigo, muscle weakness, heart. Digestion. Fatigue, brain fog, etc. But my eyesight is so much better and my muscles are getting stronger. I will carry on with this and hopefully have continuous improvement.

    1. Christina says:

Hi Jacky, did you take the Borrellia also or just the Ledum and Aurum? Did you notice a difference with the weakness/numbness?

      Thank you!

  246. Patty says:

Hi Joette, is Aurum Arsenicum same as Aurum Arsenicosum?
    Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      yes.

  247. Debbie says:

If dissolving the Ledum in water 1 oz of water per dose and keep the recommended schedule?

  248. Debbie says:

If the dog is extremely lethargic following the dosing should the schedule be adjusted?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

If a reaction after a medicine causes small condition, it would not be of concern. However, if a medicine causes a sweeping condition it might be time to reassess the frequency or even whether the use of it is superfluous.

  249. Debbie says:

Where can I find borrelia 30 or nosode 30? The links in the article don’t work anymore. Thank you.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

If you’re a student or client of mine, from OHM. If not, try Washington Homeopathy or Helios.

  250. Debbie says:

Began using Ledum 200 protocol, but while we were at the stage of 2x per day the dog seemed to get very touchy. Seemed as though his joints were aching. I stopped the ledum and he got to the place that he didn’t seem to be hurting so much. However, yesterday his paw was swollen and he started limping. After one dose of ledum 200 the swelling is gone and he is very playful. Do I pick up with the protocol at 2x per week or start with 2x a day dose for a couple of days? Also, when you say 2x per day I assume that means per 24 hrs so that if the first dose is in the evening the second dose would be 12 hrs later. Is that correct? Thank you so much for your help.

  251. Philippe says:

Aurum Arsenicum (with a slightly different name) is still available form the same manufacturer in Austria. I found it here: https://www.remedia-homeopathy.com/shop/Aurum-arsenicosum-(Fincke)/a9055847

    1. Debra K says:

Genius! Thank you for sleuthing this out! I had searched unsuccessfully last fall. Which strength did you select?

  252. Cathy says:

When using Ledum for a dog – can I give the 200c in the pill format with food? Or is it better for me to dissolve the 200c in water and then give it to him? I have read conflicting information.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

Homeopathic medicines are able to act even when added to food but if you want to be certain that it acts fully, you might want to use the method that is known to deliver the best results. That would be directly in the mouth.

  253. Helene Pecora-Montalto says:

I just got bit by what I identified as adult male lone star tick -on me mabe 11hrs. tick in freezer now. It says this tick does not harbor LYMES but like other infections such as: ehrlichiosis, tularemia, rocky mtn fever, alphagal syndrome, heartland virus, STARI & Boubon Virus. I am on LEDUM 200C 3 doses since took tick off & just today 2 doses. Is this or the rest of protocol good for all or any of these infections too? Should I get tick tested? how long can I use LEDUM if I dont even know if I have any infection? Will it cause an infection if I dont have one by proving itself? TY !!

  254. Tara says:

My family seems to get a lot of the deer ticks and my one daughter had Lymes. Thankfully we have always found the tick. For the 200 every 3 hours is that just during the waking hours or do you wake the person up in the night too?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

I would not wake someone to administer a homeopathic propphylactic.

  255. Elizabeth says:

If you use the banerji protocol arsenicum album and hypericum instead of aurum arsenicum 200, in what potency would you use them?

  256. Anya says:

Hi Joette! A friend gave me your name. Two of my labs have just tested positive for Lyme. How affective is this homeopathic treatment and where do I get the other homeopathics besides Ledum?Thank you , Anya

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

Very effective in many cases given the circumstances I outline here. However, without knowing your particular case, I can’t comment.
By the way, most people test postive for Lyme. Most people…
The upsot is that a postive test is not enough to know the cause of an illness, nor whether it’s the reason for pathology, hence a plan of action.

      Amazon.

  257. Patricia says:

Can Ledum be used as a preventative on a 7 year old child? We live in a wooded area and I can’t always check every part of her body for tick bites. If so, how often should I give her the dosage?
Also, what is the dosage that I should use for my dog, also as a preventative. I have also found ticks on her that are already dead. She uses flea/tick meds monthly.
If they can use it as a preventative, how long should I go between doses? We live in New England, US so we don’t find ticks in the wintertime.
I would also like to use it as a preventative for myself and my husband.
Thank you for all your great information!
    Patricia

    1. Patricia says:

I forgot to mention that my daughter is around 70lbs and my dog is 46 lbs.
      Thanks!

    2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

We use the same protocol for an infant, child, adult, pregnant woman, elderly adult, dog, cat, hamster…you get the picture.
Given that this is medicine it should be administered only when there is a condition. That is, when a tick has been found. And when that occurs the schedule ought to be followed.

  258. Bob Stevens says:

First of al I wanted to say THANK YOU for your blog, my fiancé was suffering greatly from both Lyme and Rocky Mountain Spotted fever with VERY little support from the traditional medical community for the better part of a year. Suffering this year did not help for the best care. She followed your protocol exactly as you listed and today she is a new person having essentially been ‘Cured’ which is nothing short of a miracle considering how she was suffering and seemingly without hope.

I do have a question. As I mentioned she seems to have resolved most of her problems, extreme fatigue, significant joint pain and brain fog all of which have receded. She is now able to exercise, but has noted joint pain when jogging. Is there an ongoing protocol she can or should follow longer term or once the protocol has been completed is that the end of treatment. long story short looking for long term or ongoing treatment post protocol.

    Thank you again!!

  259. Sara says:

For clarification, these protocols are recommended for prevention of acute lyme only, or will they work (acutely) after symptoms have developed?

  260. Snowy says:

Thank you for this blog post!
Question – can Ledum (any dose) be used whilst pregnant?

  261. Rachel says:

    Mrs. Calabrese,

May I ask please, what you mean when you say that a seasoned Homeopath should handle long-term chronic Lyme cases? Would someone who has taken all of your courses many times over… voraciously studying and successfully helping many people & animals around them for the last 3 years possibly be seasoned enough, or do you mean a Professional Homeopath with decades of experience?

    Thank you very kindly!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

No, I believe someone who has taken my courses is certainly capable of approaching many chronic conditions including this.

  262. Rachel says:

Thank you Mrs. Calabrese, for teaching us and then encouraging us to fly. 💙

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

And you, Rachel, are one of those who will soar.

  263. Holly says:

Hi Joette, I have read all of the comments and am unsure what to do about my 2.5 yr old. She started having a low grade fever (99°- 102°) 4 days ago and has the bulls eye around her navel. I never saw the tick but removed what could of been a dried up one about 2 weeks ago. It was hard to remove and I scraped pretty hard. I started Ledum 30c 2 days ago because it’s all I had, I have the 200c coming tomorrow. She still has a fever of 100°F. Her fever comes and goes. I gave her Arnica for 1 day and the fever seemed to be reduced but has since returned after stopping the Arnica and only giving the Ledum. Should I start the protocol over when I receive the 200c and add the Arnica back in? I am worried that she has had the fever for so long. Should I get her tested to make sure it’s Lyme? Thank you for your wonderful gift of knowledge.

  264. Lynn says:

My 20 year old son traveled to Pennsylvania with his dad on May 15th. They returned home to Maine on May 23rd. By May 28th, he started feeling sick. That evening, he started vomiting and vomited for four days along with chills (I assume a fever as well ~ he doesn’t live with us) and sleeping a lot. On day three of not feeling well, he sent me a picture of this red circular welt/spot on his arm that was rather large in diameter. At first we thought it was a possible spider bite, but when we saw him the next day, my husband said it could possibly be from a tick bite. He tried making an appointment with his primary care doctor, but could only see the nurse practitioner on June 3rd. The minute she saw him, she sent him to the lab for bloodwork and home with a prescription for doxycycline while we awaited the test results. He took the doxycycline for 10 days and has been off it for about a week. Some people think 10 days is not enough, but I cannot get the doc to prescribe more. His test did come back positive. I spoke with the nurse’s office and they said that one of the tests that came back positive was the western blot test. I ordered Ledum 200 and it came in today. Do you think seeing that a month has passed since being exposed, that this will be enough or should I order the stuff mentioned in step 2 as well? I am very worried about his health (he is not the healthiest) and the fact that a month has passed before finding this protocol. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

If you read the article carefully, you’ll find what you’re looking for.

  265. Momof6 says:

    Hi Joette!
Thank you for the article…when are the symptoms supposed to be relieved? I noticed the tick bite on or around the 12th of June. Tuesday the 22nd I began feeling strange with Wednesday having the bullseye along with a migraine, back pain, and muscle soreness mostly in my glutes and hamstrings. I began using Ledum 200c Thursday the 24th of June, felt awful until Saturday the 26th (mainly migraine), felt pretty darn good by Monday the 28th through Thursday the 1st, only to have hip/glute/hamstring pain that makes me unable to sleep. I did receive the Arsenicum Album in the mail Thursday and began to take it, and the arnica today.
Thank you so much for your time.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

When we use homeopathic medicines, we usually see a shift in symptoms after days or weeks, depending on how old the condition is, how severe, if synthetic drugs are being taken, etc.

  266. Pam Gebert says:

Thank you for this. I just now did that my husband had the most obvious as huge bullseye on his side. He has these red blotches over his body that do not itch. Two weeks ago he was down with flu symptoms (or so we thought!). I started him on the Ledum, and will also use the Aurum arsenicosum (tomorrow?). I know his family is going to freak out about this. I hope I’m not too late.

  267. Jessica says:

Hi Joette. After pulling a tick off of my son I started step 1. Is the Ledum “every three hours for a day” 24 hours? And do you need to wake up every three hours through the night to take it? Thank you.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

I’ve never wakened a family member in the night to give a homeopathic medicine.

  268. Florens Potter says:

    First of all,
    Thank you for this post!

I have been stung probably a 2 weeks ago and since last week I have the ‘famous red spot/red ring’on my leg.
My doctor prescribed me antibiotics 10 days, 2 times 100grams.
This is now day 3. I am thinking about stopping earlier and continue with Ledum C200.

Do you only use step 1 when you feel better again (or in my case when the spot is gone and I have finished the protocol)? Or should I also do step 2 since I already have lyme (the spot)?

    Thank you in advance

    Florens from the Netherlands

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

I commence step one when the incident is fairly fresh such as within a few weeks.

    2. Tanya says:

When ordering ftom helios U.K. it asks size of tablets etc…I don’t know what size to choose for Lyme nosode 30. Can you tell me? ThNks do much for all this great info!

      1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

The size of pills doesn’t affect how the medicine acts. These are the kinds of questions answered in my study groups, Gateway to Homeopathy. I hope you’ll consider joining one so that you don’t go it alone.

  269. Florens Potter says:

    Thank you Joette,

As on stopping the antibiotics earlier, what is your opinion? As I prefer only using ‘healthy’ medicine.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

I’m sorry but without knowing the case in its entirety, it would be difficult to comment.

  270. Florens Potter says:

No worries, I followed my gut feeling:) Thank you for your response!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

      you bet.

  271. Sarah Forster says:

Hi there – I was instructed by someone at our local health store to give my daughter 30c of Ledum Palustre for a tick bite she had gotten about a week before I started the Ledum Palustre. My daughter had a fever of 103, headache, body aches, a swollen lump under arm where the tick had bitten her. She could have also had a virus that just happened to come on a few days after the tick bite. However none of our other four children got sick. It’s still a mystery to us. But anyhow, I wish I had fully read your article stating the protocol for Ledum Palustre. Would I be harming my daughter if I started her on your Ledum Palustre 200c protocol? It has now been 2 weeks since her tick bite. All of her symptoms are gone. But I want to be sure Lymes does not set up shop in her body. Thank you for your help!

  272. Jennifer says:

Thank you for writing this article. Is the protocol still potentially effective, if the lyme was acquired a year ago? My dog is recently diagnosed, but his symptoms started approx 1 year ago (didn’t know what it was then, just that his hind legs were becoming weak). I have the Ledum here and ordered the other 2 remedies you mentioned. Thanks for any advice!

  273. Florens Potter says:

    Good afternoon,

    I was wondering.

The first day(s) I really saw a change in the spot. (I also used anti-spike protein tablets). It was so much lighter. Now it is not getting so much visual result and it is one day more visible than the other day. Now I am in the first part of the 3rd step (twice weekly per month).
I still see it, isn’t it supposed to be gone (eventually)?

In step 2 you recommended this step: Hypericum perforatum mixed with Arsenicum album. Take this twice daily for a week, and then tapering in the same manner as the Ledum. Do you mean from there on twice weekly per month and after that once weekly for a month? Or start over and do the whole protocol like Ledum (1st day every 3h etc.)

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

The goal is to protect against long-term effects. The site however might still show evidence even in this event.
Using the protocol every 3H, etc is only followed when the bite is fresh. We don’t start all over again.

  274. Florens Potter says:

    Thank you Joette!

How do you then know when the Lyme is gone?

(I also feel sometimes pain/tension in my knees and lighter in my head, this of course can have many causes).

Yeah, I meant with the protocol from the second step. Now I only did the first step (Ledum) and I am thinking about doing step 2 as well.

  275. Lyuda says:

Good Evening Joette, please let me know if aurum arsenicum 200 is the same as aurum arsenicosum 200.
    Thank You.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

      yes,

  276. Lyuda says:

Good Day Joette, I have a question is aurum arsenicum
200 the same as aurum arsenicosum 200.
    Thank You.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

      yes.

  277. Lyuda says:

Thank You Joette, I would like to shear information about
Website where I ordered aurum arsenicosum 200 and
Borrelia burgdoferi 30 which is under Lyme 30.
    http://homeopathyplus.com
I even have no words to express my gratitude toward You Joette. I do strongly believe in homeopathy .
Long time ago in Ukraine Doctors worked with conventional , homeopathy and homeopathy and naturopathy simultaneously.
My father was cured his stomach ulcer without surgery.
Was treated by homeopathy and if I remember correctly
    Sea Buckhtorn oil.
My grandma lived by herself up to 105 never had use
Conventional medicine. My mom is 87 this year live by
Herself doing farming, never used conventional medicine. She stated that now she more tired than usual.
Unfortunately I got Lyme And test confirmed on 08/18
    Six weeks later.
I was on doxy 100 bid for 14 days and the end of treatment my sublingual nodes still swollen until today
It didn’t, not resolve and very slight pain in throat is present from time to time and weird feeling under the skin.
Never been sick in my life, I do not believe that symptoms will resolve as per medical.
I will f/ u with You protocol and step 1 simultaneously with step 2, because time passed from July 2.
    Unconditionally appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Lyuda.
P..S. Sorry I discovered the article after antibiotics taken
Definitely will learn more with You about homeopathy.

    .

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

      Thanks, Lyuda.
I appreciate learning about new sources and other homeopaths’ methods.
‘Wishing you and your family good health.
Pls pass on this blog to others who may need this information.

      1. Cortney says:

I cannot find the recommendation for the second step in the protocol but I see you suggested hypericum perfoalum mixed with arsenicum album, what potency for those?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

The rem is Hypericum 200/Arsenicum 200 and I have used it twice daily but I must tell you that if you’re interested in knowing how to approach infections I urge you to join one of my Gateway to Homeopathy Study groups and as that group get a substantial discount to my online course titled Antibiotic Alternative https://studygroups.joettecalabrese.com/

  278. Lyuda says:

I will definitely take you up on that.
All best for You Joette and your family.

  279. Florens Potter says:

    Hi Joette,

Earlier you said that the goal of these remedies is to protect against long-term effects. The site/spot (erythema migrans) however might still show evidence even in this event.

What will happen with these spots eventually?

How do you know then when the Lyme is gone?

    Have a good day,
    Florens

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

We know that a disease is gone when the signs of the disease minimize and eventually disappear. Signs or symptoms are king in homeopathy. However, sometimes old evidence might linger in spite of the suffering having been abated.

      1. Florens Potter says:

        Thank you 🙂

  280. Eva says:

Would you use this same protocol for a very young child? My two year old had an engorged deer tick two days ago- I would love to get this tomorrow if it’s ok for littles and if I haven’t missed the window of starting the day the tick is removed

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

When I offer protocols they don’t differentiate between ages.

  281. Vicky says:

I take homeopathy for osteoporosis. I think I caught Lyme in China in 2018 but so far it has gone undiagnosed (I live in the UK). I had the Bull’s Eye rash which was dismissed by a doctor as a mosquito bite even though it was 4 inches in diameter. Since I have had it a long time do I follow all the stages above? Will any of the remedies interact with other homeopathic remedies? Many thanks

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

I like to use the symptoms that are presenting NOW rather than take a gander that this or that was caused by a previously contracted infection.
Our questions should be constructed thusly:
From what is the person suffering? Arthritis? Ok, then give the homeopathic for arthritis.
From chronic fatigue? ok, give the homeopathic specific for chronic fatigue.
It’s a much cleaner way of approaching these kinds of cases.
      No guess work needed.

      1. Vicky says:

Thank you for responding. The worst issues I have are nerve related and weak neck. Hypericum didn’t seem to work.

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

Hypericum is for nerve damage and pain. It doesn’t cover weakness.

  282. brian strada says:

Our begal/retriever has had lyme for maybe 2 years. W cannot get the c-6 test under 35. My understanding it has to be under 30 for the vacine. What protocol would you recommend she is 6 years old and 35 pounds. Thank you

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

I don’t make specific recommendations. This is a teaching forum. Having said this we don’t usually use the name of the microorganism to determine the medicine. Instead, we use the name of the condition. For example “fatigue” or “arthritis” or “food intolerances” and use the assigned medicine for one or all of these.

  283. Darah says:

    Hi Joette,
Would this protocol with ledum be appropriate for a 1 year old if they were bitten? We live in an area with lots of ticks and I know it’s only a matter of time.
    Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

Homeopathic medicines generally are not age-specific when it comes to injuries and bites.

  284. Kara Horne says:

My three-year-old was bitten by a tick. The ledum we have in the house is a 1M. Would this be appropriate? If so at what dosage and how frequently? Thank you!

  285. David says:

my son age 6 was bite by tick. What can i give him from homeopathy and what dose

  286. gerry says:

few years ago i got bit by a tick had the bullseye & no illness, stupidly because im in ireland i thought no way we have lymes here 🙁 i didnt think about it again. past year and a half all signs point too lymes lower back pain – knee stiffness – calf muscles feel like there tearing every time i walk & when i stand up i tremble almost like the muscles in my lowerback thighs and legs are 20seconds behind my brain. extreme fatigue memory loss/fog im 46 but feel like im 86 what would you recommend

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

I don’t make specific, personal recommendations here. But the best way to start is to use the symptoms to choose the medicine regardless of the etiology.

  287. Michael K says:

I’m very impressed that this comment string has been active since 2014!

Back in your original post you wrote: “How effective are these measures? Well, so far, I’ve not seen a single case of Lyme present when Step 1 is employed.”

Is this still the case eight odd years later?

If there are instances where Step 1 (appropriately used) did not prevent Lyme onset do you have any insights as to why?

I’d love to hear! Thank you for keeping up the great work.

    1. Michael K says:

Further to my question above – assuming Step 1 remains highly effective would it not make sense to take Ledum Palustre after every summer outdoor exposure to be on the safe side?

    2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

You bet! Ledum continues after 200+ years to protect against insect bites and their associated infections. And that’s my experience as well.
To answer your question about taking Ledum as a prophylactic…I suppose, depending on how high the potential is of getting a tick bite and how likely it is that tic bites would not be found subsequent to the outdoor event.
These medicines are just that…medicine and should be used if needed but not willy nilly like vitamins, supplements, etc.

  288. sheri says:

    Hello Joette,
I would like to know if it is safe to take both antibiotics and ledum at the same time. I prefer homeopathic to antibiotic, but I am leaning toward caution.
    thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

Homeopathic medicines and conventional drugs are not contraindicated.
(But it would be like killing a mosquito with a bazooka)

    2. Judi says:

Good Morning Joette!! I am so happy I came across this article as I have been searching for a way of treating an underlying case of Lyme that has never been treated. Would these remedies work for someone who has had Lyme untreated for a few years or do they only work when you first get Lyme? I have been told on many occasions I have coinfections and a dr once gave me two liquids to put under my tongue which did make me feel better but can’t remember the names and now I am feeling crappy again. The fatigue, neck pain and joint pain along with skin issues is all back and willing to try this if it’s also recommended for longer cases or Lyme Disease. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with everyone!!!

      1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

The 1st thing is that I urge you to contact that homeopath and find out what the remedy is that helped you so that you can take it again. Should that not be possible, consider using the symptoms instead of the possible etiology to choose the homeopathics. So if it’s joint pain key into your browser the words JoetteCalabreseArthritis. If it’s eczema, key into your browser the words JoetteCalabreseEczema.
We’re not treating the symptoms with this method, we’re using the symptoms to determine what medicine is the best choice.

  289. Holly M says:

Do you have an updated protocol for chronic Lyme? Thank you

  290. Emma says:

My son is currently taking doxycycline for lyme which we believe he has following a tick bite/rash that showed up about two weeks ago. Unfortunately, even after 14 days of the medicine, he is still complaining of ringing in his ears and some fatigue and pain.

My question is: Does it make sense to start a homeopathic approach while he is still taking antibiotics? Or wait until he is finished the antibiotics?

  291. Pam Newport says:

My 2yo Standard Poodle was diagnosed with Lyme from 4-way test in vet’s office. No real symptoms except not eating well and had a slight limp for 3-4 days. Blood was sent out for further analysis and it came back as negative i.e. it said if under 30, not Lyme. My girl’s reading was 10. On Doxy for 2 days and then stopped. Vet said she has not seen this happen but 1-2 times previously but maybe because not too many want to spend the money for second test. Should I now get the Ledum200 and Aurum arsenic 200c if I can, and start treating since she must have the antibodies in her system. In April she had the office test at another vet and negative. I’m not sure I’m asking in the right place.

  292. Janice Maroney says:

Have you seen any side effects with this treatment? My two year old son started having bullseye spots about three weeks ago, all over his body. I believe he was bit by something this summer. I started this treatment with him, we are on the twice a week for a month phase and every time he gets a dose, he is exhausted and usually throws up within a few hours. Is that from treatment or possibly the lymes? Thank you

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

When a homeopathic medicine causes symptoms, it should be halted. It usually means the medicine was not indicated.
For example, if someone believes they may have a thyroid condition, takes the homeopathic for thyroid, and gets new symptoms they’ve not had in the past, it means the homeopathic was not well chosen. Why? beucse there was no thyroid problem to start.
We must be certain of what the condition is before using these medicines.

  293. MKK says:

Hi Joette, if you’re in the middle of completing step 1 of this protocol after a tick bite, and then you get another tick bite, should you start over from the beginning of step 1 again? Thank you!

  295. Bharati says:

Dear Joette, have you found the Nosode to be useful for someone who had a legitimate tick bite that was more than a couple years old? I had a tick bite 4 years ago, had a bulls eye rash and 10 days of antibiotics. Symptoms still linger after trying all sorts of herbals and I’m wondering if  nosodes have been useful so many years after a bite?  After reading the above article, I am about to start steps 1 and 2 next week. Glad I found you and your very educational website. I am truly hopeful . If you have time, please let me know about the Nosode. Thank you greatly

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, PHom M says:

I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to use the symptoms to help choose the homeopathic. Ask yourself, Is there arthritis? the remedy is Rhus tox 200. Is there anxiety? Coffea 200. Using symptoms (NOT treating them) but using them to point the way is an essential part of dealing with infections. Nosodes can be useful but only if the infection is indeed and I mean absolutely the cause. But how do we know that this particular bacteria or that virus is the cause? There are too many to identify so to choose only one can be misleading.
When the symptom-specific method is carried out, results are usually more reliable. Employing nosodes can be disappointing.

      1. Bharati says:

Thanks so much Joettte for the prompt response. My lingering symptoms for past few years post tick bite have been :
        1. SEVERE fatigue
        2. migrating joint and muscle pain that comes and goes
        3. blurry vision on and off
        4. crawling sensations on head that comes and goes
Any tips for remedies people have successfully used for these symptoms?
If the infection turns out not to have been the cause of these symptoms, will Nosodes cause a proving (cause harm) or is it that they just won’t be effective?
Sending much gratitude to you for this educational platform

  296. Jacky Davis says:

Does Ledum also clear the biofilm and Lyme cysts

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, PHom M says:

I urge you to read up on Ledum in your materia medica to get a complete understanding of its action.

  297. Marissa Klein-Kundrath says:

Hi Joette, if you’re in the middle of completing step 1 of this protocol after a tick bite, and then you get another tick bite, should you start over from the beginning of step 1 again? Thank you.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, PHom M says:

Pls. read the comments related to this article. I’ve responded to this question several times.

      1. MKK says:

I read the entire comments section before asking this question and didn’t see it answered directly anywhere.

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, PHom M says:

          wWat is your question?

          1. M says:

If you’re in the middle of completing step 1 of this protocol after a tick bite, and then you get another tick bite, should you start over from the beginning of step 1 again?

  298. Martina says:

Hello, I’ve had a severe infection of Rocky Mountain Spotted fever for years. Nothing helps. It has produced flares of crippling joint pain, hot flashes, and massive brain fog. Sometimes I’ll have a whole week that I’m fine, sometimes an entire month of pain and brain problems. I’m now starting to reverse letters and not find my words. However, the joint pain is by far the worst part. I originally was under large amounts of doxycycline and others. It made things worse. I then tried Buhners herb protocol from Green Dragon. Lots and lots of money, but no relief. After a break, I’m now loving on to trying homeopathy. I live in an area very remote, and there are no Homeopaths in the vicinity. I’m going to try this myself. My only question is, when buying the Borrelia 30 or Nosode 30, am I buying the size 3 or 6? I assumed size 3, but wanted to make sure.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, PHom M says:

I’m sorry, but I don’t understand your question.

  299. Martina says:

Sorry I had another question. I’d homeopathicremediesonline.com a reputable company?
    Thank you so much
    Martina

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, PHom M says:

      They’re retailers; not manufacturers.

  300. Martina says:

Helios sells size 3 and size 6, but I just realized the size should be size 3 (pills).
Do you think the protocol for Rocky amounts in would be the same as the Lyme protocol?
I was once told that R.M.S.F. was a firm of Erlichia, I’m
not certain of this is true.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, PHom M says:

A dose is a dose regardless of the size of the pill or condition.

  301. Martina says:

Thanks to you Josette, I’m getting the swing of this! So if I have had Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever for many years and in the last five years developed severe joint pain, then instead of treating the bacteria, I should treat the joint pain with say Rhus Tox 30, twice a week (one week on one week off for 6 weeks), until I see improvement, then stop the treatment after I see improvement?
I have insomnia and brain fog from it too. Is coffee 30c suggested for insomnia? Taken the Same way as Rhus Tox?
How about brain fog (I know that’s kinda vague, more like forgetting words)?
Thank you so much for your teachings. I’ve been watching so much of your advise on you tube and following your blog. If I were to start with one class with you, where at the end I could actually start helping my sick family with remedies, which one would that be?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, PHom M says:

I urge you to join my online study group, Gateway to Homeopathy. On Zoom, you’ll meet others who are of like mind while learning how to use homeopathy. You’ll find it here

  302. Dina Paolucci says:

Hello, Joette! My dog was found positive for Lyme disease, (did blood and urine tests). 150 quant for Lyme. Not sure when he was hit by a tick, but suspecting about 3 months ago. I didn’t see this article until later, but someone suggested me these homeopathic meds. So completed step 1 with Ledum Palustre 1M. And then went straight to step 3 with Lyme Nosode Drops for 3 days. Do I need to do step 2 at this point? Vets wants him on doxycycline, which I am real nervous to start as this is a poodle with a very weak stomach… please advise, thank you so much!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, PHom M says:

I’m sorry that I can’t advise on this forum. Given that this is a teaching site, I urge you to read and re-read the article as it will likely help you determine your next step.

  303. Thank you so so much Joette, I have two dogs and one of them wound up with Lyme disease last fall. Not wanting to put her on the meds the vet prescribed I did a search online and found this Blog. I happen to have had two of the remedies you recommended and within 5 hours she was back to her usual self. I went ahead and purchased all the remedies you recommended as backup at that time. Fast forward to this week, my puppy started to show the same symptoms and she now has lyme as well. She was a bit of a harder case to overcome, it took a week of using all 6 of the remedies but she is now her usual self after being debilitated for a full 4 days. The information you shared with us all made all the difference in the world for my two girls and I am very grateful.

  304. E says:

When you say to take Ledum 200c every 3 hours, does that mean around the clock, as in wake to take it, or is that during waking hours?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, PHom M says:

Usually it means during wakeful hours becuase its only used for a day, not many.

  305. Marissa says:

My child is allergic to milk, an inactive ingredient in the Ledum Palustre. Is there anything else he can take in place?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, PHom M says:

What you’re identifying is not intrinsic to Ledum or any specific homeopathic medicine. THe milk sugar is what the pilluales are made of, not the medicine that coats them.
Purchase Ledum in alcohol or water instead of lactose pills or pills that are made without milk sugar.

  306. Genevieve Joubert says:

Hello! Is there a prophylactic protocol? I have heard Ledum daily or twice weekly helps repel ticks, or ixodes dammini 200c. We are moving to a an area with lots of deer ticks and I’m worried about my little ones playing outside!
