Prenatal Preparation with Homeopathy: The Best Gift You Could Give!

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

At this joyous time of year, I’m reminded of some of the best gifts we are given in life: our children.  Did you know that there is a homeopathic protocol that can be followed during pregnancy to give the gift of robust health to your unborn child?

The best part?  This prenatal plan uses homeopathic cell salts that you can simply dissolve in water and take with you anywhere.  Plus, they’re inexpensive and give your body the easily assimilated minerals it needs at this crucial time without resorting to the artificial nutrients found in commercial prenatal vitamins.

The following schedule should be adhered to for the duration of the pregnancy and the protocol for the last month continued for as long as the baby nurses.

Recommended Monthly Program:

Month 1: Calc fluor 6x, Mag phos 6x, Ferr phos 6x

Month 2: Calc fluor 6x, Mag phos 6x Ferr phos 6x

Month 3: Calc fluor 6x, Mag phos 6x, Nat mur 6x

Month 4: Calc fluor 6x, Nat mur 6x, Silica 6x

Month 5: Calc fluor 6x, Ferr phos 6x, Silica 6x

Month 6: Calc fluor 6x, Mag phos 6x, Ferr phos 6x

Month 7: Calc fluor 6x, Mag phos 6x, Nat mur 6x

Month 8: Calc fluor 6x, Nat mur 6x, Silica 6x

Month 9: Calc fluor 6x, Ferr phos 6x, Silica 6x

Take three to four pills of each remedy assigned for the month three times each day.  Alternatively, you can dissolve the pellets in four ounces of water and take a sip of this preparation three times a day.

Just like higher potency homeopathic remedies, cell salts (sometimes called tissue salts or Biochemic homeopathy) are prepared in highly diluted dosages. This gives them a greater ability to work. Cell salts are readily available in most health food and some grocery stores and are very inexpensive.

Having considered the above, it needs mention that no amount of cell salts will substitute for a diet of wholesome and nutrient-dense foods. So, I recommend that nutrients be obtained from “Super Foods,” those that have been eaten throughout the ages in preparation for and during pregnancy. They are full-fat cheese, full-fat yogurt, and loads of butter on all vegetables, and unprocessed meats, especially liver and other organ meats.  Eggs from pastured chickens are a valuable source of the omega 3 fatty acids  your baby needs for brain development.

This is the most crucial time in your baby’s life. It is also the best time for constitutional homeopathic care, as both mother and child are treated as one. Homeopathy has no side effects and will not interfere with any other meds, although meds are an especially unwise choice at this time. Homeopathy and high-end nutrition is fully safe for mother and child from the time of conception up to and including the birth.

I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.

What great advice, I have a friend who just found out she is pregnant, I will be sure to pass this advice along. Would any of these cell salts or possibly others help with nausea or morning sickness?

    1. admin says:

I’ve heard from some mothers that following this protocol kept them from morning sickness, but you can also take a remedy that matches your specific morning sickness symptoms. Keep an eye out for future blog posts on this subject.

  2. Liz says:

I used this protocol during my pregnancies and thought it was powerful! This is especially interesting in light of the recent, continued studies about decreasing fertility. Any tips or thoughts about fertility issues for those struggling with that?

    thanks

    1. admin says:

Homeopathy has a history of treating infertility with constitutional homeopathic care. Of course quality nutrition like that advocated by the Weston A. Price Foundation goes far to help with conception.

  3. Kerri says:

    Joette,
I remember hearing this in one of your audio sources. The only thing I have on hand is the combo cell salts (all 12 salts in one pill). Will this have the same effect? Also, any other advice for a possibly older parent to be? (not sure if I’m expecting again, but if so this will be our 8th babe, and I am 41 years old). I also just read that one of the possible reasons for morning sickness is lack of magnesium. Being pregnant supposedly causes a catch 22 situation….the pregnant mother needs more magnesium for the growing baby, but the pregnancy hormones won’t allow the mother’s body to properly absorb the needed magnesium. With 7 other kiddos, 5 of which I’m homeschooling (2 are too young), and the cooking that goes along with the GAPS diet……let’s just say I don’t have time to be lying on the couch, sick to my tummy!

    Any advice welcome!

    Blessngs,
    Kerri

    1. admin says:

The combo is not bad in a pinch, but the specific cell salts offer more targeted use. My recommendations for pregnancy are lots of saturated fats and high quality animal protein. The cell salt protocol often relives issues such as you’re having. I don’t like the use of magnesium in gross form. Instead, if there are leg cramps, hiccups, constipation, etc, then the cell salt, Mag phos 6x when taken thrice daily will often do the trick. If the problem remains, then its best to get constitutional care from a homeopath.

  4. Sarah says:

Thanks for this great & very useful information. If only I knew this when I was pregnant. I had terrible anemia through the last trimester and the iron pills didn’t work for me at all.

I’ve read somewhere else that silica forces foreign material, like dental work, out of the body. But others say no. I’m really confused about that.

    1. admin says:

The expelled foreign objects are more often embedded glass from an accident, slivers, etc. It will only force out foreign objects in the body when used in a higher potency and only if used injudiciously. All remedies have their curative action and a detrimental one. Silica used in a 6x potency is considered a very safe remedy.

  5. Kristen Hitch says:

I’ve been following these instructions for months now, and I feel great! Before I began the cell salts regimen, I suffered with nausea and fatigue. Just 2 days after I ditched the prenatal vitamins and began the cell salts, the nausea and fatigue left me and never returned. Thanks, Joette!

  6. Lisa says:

Hi Joette, In cell salt CD’s you say to take Calc Fluor and Calc Phos throughout the entire pregnancy along with the other cell salts that you specify.
    Could you clarify please?

    1. admin says:

You take the additional cell salts as laid out in the protocol.

  7. Nicole says:

Can this be taken in addition to a prenatal? I don’t want to stop my prenatal as it supplies many nutrients besides minerals. I could add the cell salts to my vitamin regimen, but I don’t want to risk overdosing myself. Thanks!

    1. admin says:

There’s no risk of overdose with homeopathy so you can definitely add cell salts to any supplementation you’re doing.

  8. Debi says:

Hi! I am wondering if I need to do anything additional or special if I am just beginning this protocol at the beginning of my 8th month? Thanks!

    1. admin says:

Start where you are. That is, follow month 8.

  9. Sarah Smith says:

    Hi Joette,
Is there any risk of people “proving” the remedies since they are taken every day?

  10. Heather Burris says:

Any recommendations for a pre-conception protocol? I’m passing this along to a few pregnant friends of mine, but we’re trying to get pregnant so I’d welcome something I could do now 🙂

    1. Kristy Chandler says:

I’m in the same boat with you! Oh, just saw you posted this in 2012…were you successful? My husband and I have been trying to conceive since last Jan.

    2. I would love to know this, too! My husband and I are trying to get pregnant and I’m eager to do anything that would help the process.

      1. Julia says:

I’d be interested in learning homeopathy tips for those TTC.

  11. Cinda says:

I too wonder if you can take the cell salt combination of 12 salts while pregnant……..Hylands Bioplasma……or do we need to do the ones you mentioned as the 3 seperate cell salts? Thanks so much for ALL you do!

  12. Barbara Antisdel says:

The initials CCH after your name indicate that you are certified in classical homeopathy. Classical homeopathic treatment requires individualization of prescribing. This cell salt protocol does not individualize. Some mothers and babies may benefit from this, but some very sensitive individuals may end up doing a proving (experiencing the symptoms that the remedy causes in a healthy person and cures in a sick person). A proving is very possible in sensitive individuals, as they are repeating the same remedy, three times per day for months. This may result in harm to the mother and the baby. I am currently witnessing someone possibly doing such a proving from following this protocol. Although these remedies are “cell salts”, they are homeopathically potentized and those who ingest them may respond as they would to any homeopathic remedy. Please practice homeopathy classically, as your certification signifies. Thank you.

    1. na says:

My goodness..I know this is old..but this is all about choice. You dont have to agree.
I have actually started using them for my nausea and I feel way better. If I have a bad reaction I will stop.

  13. Angela says:

I know that essential oils anecdote homeopathy…but is it ALL essential oils? Or just a few? If so could you let me know which ones? And do you know if they anecdote each other? Or just the homeopatic remedy will not work but the oil benefits do not change…? Thank you!!

    1. Hi Angela,
I heard somewhere that it’s the minty ones in particular, so peppermint, wintergreen, eucalyptus, etc. Just to be on the safe side, I wouldn’t combine at all, since homeopathics are sensitive to the effects of any strong odor (deodorant, detergent, and perfumes, included!), but I think it’s the minty ones that are the worst.

      1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Homeopathy is not sensitive to deodorants, detergents, perfumes, etc. And mint is only a problem for most if the amount of mint is v. strong.

  14. Zee says:

    Dear Joette,
I am excited about this protocol, and would like to explore it further for our next pregnancy. To that end, I would like to hear yor thoughts on the previous commentor’s question about essential oils as well as your rebuttal to the opinion expressed by Barbara Antisdel on the possibility of proving.
Thank you for all you do.
    Zee

  15. Martina says:

I’m confused as to why the cell salt booklet says to use Ferr Phos in months 5 and 9 but it is listed here in months; 1, 2, 5, 6, & 9.
    Could you explain, please?

  16. Casey says:

I am just beginning this protocol and would also be very interested in your answers to the above three questions.

  17. Janette says:

This schedule is a bit different than the one you recommend in your Cell Salts CD. Which regimen is your current recommendation? Also, I have been taking Mag Phos, Calc Phos, and Calc Flur here in my 1st month of pregnancy as directed in the Cell Salts CD and am still having issues with constipation/hard stools. Any suggestions for this? Thanks!

  18. Rachel says:

Hello – I am new to cell salts, but would love to try this as an alternative to commercial prenatal vitamins. I am just wondering, does this course of cell salts also provide folic acid? Many thanks!

  19. Jackie says:

Thank you much for this valuable information! Can you clarify the difference between cell salts and the “regular”remedies? For example, I would like to start the 9 month regimen as I am nursing my 8 month old. If I buy the 3 remedies in 6x, are they automatically going to be in cell salt form or do I need to search for the labels that specially state “cell salt” ? Thank you!

  20. Eileen says:

So as I have been reading and trying to solve all my problems I have one question. I didn’t discover this article until I was breasting feeding for several months. So I started the 9 month regime. Then as I was reading another one of your posts and discovered that mag phos that is recommended during the 6 month pregnancy is also used to help with allergies, which I have. Is is safe to add the mag phos also to the other 3 cell salts or should I not.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Cell salts are considered safe as long as they are not over used and well chosen. More than 3 cell salts taken simultaneously is acceptable, however, without taking your case, it would be imprudent for me to offer more specific advise.

  21. I am glad you posted this; I just stumbled upon it in my fourth month of pregnancy. I have been taking Bioplasma on almost a daily basis since my awareness of this new baby. Because of my age I have to see a perinatal specialist who doesn’t know anything of Bioplasma or cell salts.
My questions are: if I missed the way you have scheduled but where taking Bioplasma, am I in the clear and should I continue just taking bio plasma or should I just start on month four.
My other question is how do I tell them about cell salts without making them for how uneducated or that I want to purse my homeopathic lifestyle despite their knowledge.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

THe way it is laid out is that it is generally taken as per the month of pregnancy that one is in, regardless of previously taken remedies.

I urge you to find a different doctor. Better yet, perhaps a naturopath or midwife or someone who has at least some working knowledge of the methods that represents your life style. There’s nothing more annoying than feeling as though you have to teach the person who’s supposed to know how to treat you. Particularly if they haven’t the interest.

      1. You’re right about the dr, but it is financially impossible to get a homeopath here (for me anyway). While my main OBGYN Dr is open to homeopathy, the peri-natal dr is not opened to it. But it will work, I’m a stickler for homeopathy and can’t be swayed.
My main concern for silica is that I had surgery on my bimalleor fracture dec2013 and A homeopathic counselor said It would push the screws out. I have atleast eleven screws in my left leg, and am in question. Any advice?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Silica will likely not do that unless it is repeated quite frequently. However, there are sometimes other remedies that can be substituted.

  22. kristi niclas says:

so a full day’s worth of homeopathics would be 9 pellets of each remedy. if using homeopathy in water is the dosage 3 pellets in water or a full day’s worth ( 9 pellets) in water? can the 3 remedies be mixed together?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Yes, the remedies can be mixed together and your number is correct. Super easy.

      1. Benjacbahun says:

My question is the same as Kristi’s: 1 dose of each in water and sipped thru the day or should I triple the dose? Is there a benifit to taking 3 doses per day instead of 1 dose in water?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

By placing the remedies in a small amount of water you are diluting one more time and since homeopathy is all about dilution, another round, of sorts, is acceptable. In regards to effectiveness, there is no preference.

          1. Andrea says:

This is great info! THANK YOU! 🙂 I’m nursing my 6 month old and ordered month 9 cell salts to be taking daily. I was wondering if an acute illness arises, how do I take a homeopathic remedy along with a cell salt? Do I have to space it out at different times of taking the cell salts or can it be taken at the same time? For example, can Hepar Sulph be taken the same time as the three cell salts? Thanks so much! I appreciate the info that you share.

          2. Courtney Ingham says:

It may be taken about 5 minutes apart from whatever else being used.

        2. Bethany says:

So 3 pellets of each remedy in water is correct? No need to add 9 of each?

I’m so thrilled to give this a try. I didn’t feel like my prenatal did anything despite using high quality brands.

  23. Jackie says:

    Thanks for the clarification!

  24. N. says:

I’m am confused on how to match up the months with the weeks of my pregnancy. I’m 36 1/2 weeks. Does that put me in Month 9 or Month 8? In a couple of the comments people talk about breastfeeding, which I assume means postnatal, and they are starting with the protocol for Month 9, so that leads me to believe I am in Month 8…

Also, I still get some cramping in the night, and had sever cramps in my hips during past labors, and tend to be slightly low in iron. Would it be ok to add mag phos and ferrum phos to either month’s protocol if they aren’t already included?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

if you’re wondering what cell salts to take in relation to the month you are in, it is not important that it be exact. And, any cell salt may be used that fits your symptoms regardless of your month.

  25. Heidi says:

Thank you for this post. I am dissolving the pellets in water and covering them with a dish towel. I was wondering – for how many days can I sip from this cup – new every day or till it’s gone? Thank you.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

It depends on the temp of your home. I toss it out after about 2 days.

  26. natalie says:

Can all 3 salts be taken at the same time or should I space out them out?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Cell salts are often taken together.

  27. Umm Yusuf says:

    Hi there,

I am a few days away to my delivery, unfortunately here where I live wasn’t easy to find the cell salts in South America.
I’ve read Bebe Grande and Joette advices Mag Phos to easier the labour process. Could I start taking those from now or is it limited to that day only. I ask this because I am taking a supplement and struggling the last few mobths with restless leg syndrome which becomes better at times at times it doesnt. I appreciate your response and suggestions ….
    Best wishes….

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Mag phos can be taken whenever it’s needed and it certainly has a reputation for addressing muscle jerkings and such.

  28. Nikki MacMillan says:

    Hello,
I am in my 9th month of labor and I already have bioplasma. Can I take bioplasma instead of the three specific cell salts? And continue into nursing? Thank you!
    I enjoyed Baby Grande!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Happy to hear! The reason I don’t suggest Bioplasma is because there are very specific cell salts that are best during pregnancy. We don’t like folks to take homeopathics unless they are specifically called for.

    2. Nikki MacMillan says:

      *9th month of pregnancy 🙂

  29. Eve says:

    Hi Joette,

We have recently moved to Turkey and we are expecting our third baby, I might be one month pregnant as we found out s few days ago, do you know where I can find this products here, I have searched on the internet but I find very poor information about it.
    Appreciate your further guidance.

Sending you a big warm cuddle from my babies and I who have always

enjoyed the relief which you have brought to us thanks to God Almighty sharing this wonderful and blissful knowledge.

    🙂

  30. Sonia says:

My questions are related to general use of tissue salts rather than use during pregnancy.
    1) I have read and heard (cell salts tapes) Joette’s advice re using tissue salts combined and dissolved in water. In Australia the most common brand of Tissue Salts are Schuesslers. They are a large lactose base pill which does not dissolve easily in water. I have been pulverizing/mixing the tablets in water with my nutribullet (small blender/processor) which works really well and they are far more pleasant to drink in water than crunch the large tablet. Then today I suddenly wondered if it was a mistake to use an electrical appliance to crush and incorporate in the water. Your thoughts on this please.
    2) I would also like to know if I am incorporating these pills in water does the dilution rule apply, ie once incorporated and shaken the jar of cell salts in water can be taken as three doses or should each set of cell salts pills incorporated in water be treated as an individual dose.
    3) The Cell Salts tapes I have from Joette talk about 4 pills 3 times a day for some treatments. The Shuesslers bottle dosage recommendations are 1 pill, is that the recommendation I should follow or still use 4 pills as recommended by Joette?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      1) I would not pulverize using a high speed electrical blade/whipper. There’s no need to do anything but allow them to dissolve in water.
      2) It can be considered a dilution process but theres too much explanation for me to give on this forum. If you find it more pleasant in water just add them to water and drink the entire amount as one dose.
      3) Use the directions on the bottle to determine a dose. Less or more are acceptable but the manufacturing pharmacy is better the judge.

  31. Carrie L Cheek says:

Can you dissolve the tablets in a glass and then use for 2 days, wash the glass and reuse or should you use disposable cups? I’ve read that reusing glass is like increasing the potency each time but I run my glass through the dishwasher before I have reused.

  32. Meg says:

Would you clarify your updated/preferred recommendation for the cell salt intake during pregnancy? The CD on cell salts suggests differently than what was listed above in this post.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

There are many ways to skin a cat. My CD on cell salts is based on American and European methods while I have more recently embraced Indian methods such as found in the Banerji Protocols. In my practice, I choose according to the case and the woman’s specific needs. In all, both methods are valuable.

  33. Ely says:

    Hi Joette,
Can x dilutions be converted to c dilutions? The company that I order my homeopathy from doesn’t carry the 6x dilution your protocol requires. Thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

It can’t be changed from x to c. Use the potency that is the closest.

  34. Kristy Chandler says:

Is there a protocol you’d recommend for those of us trying to conceive? Been trying for 16 months…

  35. Sagar P. Dhori says:

Why you used silica I have learned that it can expel a fetus and also why mag phos please send me reply

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The best way to learn why a homeopathic medicine is chosen for a specific condition is to read a materia medica on that particular medicine. You may find Dr. James Kent’s materia medica on line or simply enter the words “Homeopathy Mag phos” in your browser and you’ll find a world of information.

      1. Sonia says:

I was of the understanding that silica only promoted the expulsion of foreign bodies eg a splinter and I am assuming that a foetus is not really a foreign body.

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

          You are correct.

  36. Astella says:

I’m 5 months pregnant and just a few days ago a blood circulation problem started arising along my whole right leg’s length (starting from the pelvis)the veins are bulging and pressuring me and blood flow seems to be obstructed. I had a heavy constipation a week ago so I might have strained myself and disturbed the blood pressure of my veins or something … i feel tingling and numbness when I stand and the veins bulge instantly. The only way to find relief is when I go on my fours into a cat/dog position. Please advise;))

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I don’t give personal advise on this forum. Should you be interested in scheduling an appointment with me, you may contact my office at 716.941.1045 M-F 9-4:30 EST.

  37. Caroline says:

Hi there, my friend is 4 months pregnant and would like to start the protocol. I am wondering if the protocol is specific to certain months of growth, or can we just adapt it – so for example she has 5 months left so will we just maybe go through the protocol once for 4 months – then maybe a week of each to finish off?

  38. Caroline says:

Sorry – just re-read that and it wasn’t very clear! I notice your protocol is slightly different from the others I’ve seen. The one I know is a 4 month program which is repeated twice from the 2nd month of pregnancy. Whichever one we choose – are they basically quite adaptable to how long you have left or are they month specific?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The schedule covers 9 months (the length of pregnancy). Month 1 means the 1st month of pregnancy. Month 2 means the 2nd month of pregnancy and so on.

      1. I have a follow-up question about this, as it seems like a lot of us are confused how the “months” line up with weeks of pregnancy. Technically, a woman is automatically 1 month pregnant when she misses a period and takes a pregnancy test, since the weeks are counted since her last period, not since ovulation. So, does that mean I should be taking the 1 month protocol while trying to conceive? Then move on to the month 2 protocol when I confirm pregnancy?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Start the 1 month at about 5 weeks pregnant which is when most women note the pregnancy.

  39. Caroline says:

Many thanks for your reply – so basically she would be best to start on month 4 and continue form there – rather than catch up the missed combinations.?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      That’s correct.

  40. Caroline says:

    Grand, thank you 🙂

  41. Tammy says:

I am very interested to know if this regimen will help an irritable uterus? My first child was born at 33 weeks from preterm labor and I had progesterone shots with my second child and made it to 37 weeks but had contractions that did not result in dilation since week 20 of that pregnancy..

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

It may indeed help, but its not the 1st homeopathic protocol I’d consider.

  42. Heather says:

Can the above method of dissolving the pills in water also be used for regular (i.e. not cell salt) homeopathic remedies?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I don’t encourage that method if you’re hoping to get consistent results you can count on.

  43. Nelda says:

Can a woman take Calc Phos every month with the 3 cell salts you mention in each month?
Would it be fine to take all five of the cells salts together three times a day throughout pregnancy?
Or what if a woman took the specific cell salts for the month twice a day and Bioplasma once a day, could that work the same?

  44. Laura says:

If baby was born 3 months early, would you jump to the mo th 9 nursing protocol or finish months 7 & 8 first.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

You’d jump to the age of the baby from the time of the birth.

  45. Carrie says:

What company do you recommend for the cell salts. Hylands uses stainless steel in manufacturing.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’ve used Hyland’s products for years.

      1. Carrie says:

Does it matter if the cell salt is in tablet form or pellet/globular form. Is it still a biochemic cell salt if it is in pellet form? I like the company Washington Homeopathic but they make pellet form. I have purchased the calc flour 12x from them for an issue and had good results but I did notice they do not offer 6x or state cells salts on their product list. I have also purchased cal. Phos 6x in pellet form from Boiron to use for dental issues with the calc fluor 12x but I read that true cell salts should be in the tablet form not homeopathic pellet form. Do you think I will get the same results so you from your blog?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The tablets, pellets. powders, etc. only hold the medicine that sits on top. The form matters not. Washington is an excellent pharmacy.

  46. Carrie says:

I am taking cal phos 6x and calc fluer 12x dissolved in 4 oz of water 3 times a day for a tooth issue. I am also treating my 15 month old the same for crowded teeth and one that came in crooked. My question is after the tooth issue has resolved do I switch the calc fluer to 6x since I am still nursing and to go along with the above mentioned protocol? Or can the 12x just be continued throughout the nursing period?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

CF 12 is a good potency across the board.

  47. Julia says:

Good morning. My daughter is going to start the prenatal protocol. She would like to know if putting them into a meta water bottle is okay or if it will damage the cell salts.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

If you’re saying metal, its fine.

  48. Alison Kirton says:

My good friend is in her 8th month of pregnancy with her 7th child and is feeling very swollen in hands and feet (also has low platelets and low blood pressure). Would these remedies be helpful, or would you consider another choice of remedy for extreme swelling late in pregnancy, which she feels is contributing to the other symptoms?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

In my experience, cell salts are quite useful for clearing up conditions during pregnancy. If, however, they don’t do so, another more specific homeopathic would be called for.

  49. Alison says:

Thank you Joette! We’ll try the month 8 protocol and see if it helps. 🙂

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      Okie-dokie.
      ‘Wishing you the best.

  50. Maryam says:

    Hi there

Could you please help me clarify, if I make the water solution with the relevant remedies, do I mix the 9 or 12 pills for each remedy in the same water …so 27 or 36 pellets each day in the 4 oz of water…. I really appreciate your response as I am pregnant with my third child and wish to implement this program. Thank you very much.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

A dose for each reedy is anywhere from 2-4 pills. Thats how many would be added to water for each remedy in the same mixture of water.

  51. Carrie says:

I was taking Calc phos 6x and calc fluor 12x 3 timeses a day due to teeth sensitivity/ calcification and then added the Ferrum phos 6x and silica 6x because I am nursing, but at 6 weeks started having other symptoms like feelings of hemorrhoids and bottom irritation. I halted the protocol to reassess but after a week and a half the issue is still there and mood, energy has decreased. Great imorovents in mood, energy, skin,, and digestion were occuring while on the protocol but not sure if a healing process was happening or a proving. I would love To restart and hope to get back to the improvements but don’t want to restart if a proving was happening because I don’t want to create new issues. The tooth issue is still there so that makes me think the calc phos and calc fluor had not had time to fully act but could hemmrhoids be a proving of calc fluor?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Yes, CF can be the cause of hemorrhoids if it is taken unnecessarily. That would happily leave CP available for teeth.

      1. Carrie says:

Thanks. Its been 2 weeks now and the problem is still there. I removed the CF but continue with the CP.
I have sniffed tea tree on a number of occasions but no change. In the process I’ve has a return of anxiety and fatigue and joint issue. The tooth issue occurred the first 6 weeks I was taking CF for Joint issue. After stopping CF for a month the tooth did not get better and the dentist confirmed decalficiation so I thought it was just a coincidence that it happened at the same time so I started the tooth protocol. Joint issue had went away. Not sure what is going on. I’m hoping for a consultation soon.as I’ve contacted the office. Just trying to work out details with my health share plan and flexible account.

        1. Anya says:

Carrie, what did you end up doing? Did you continue the teeth protocol/CP while nursing?

  52. Nicole says:

Do you take all three remedies together or do you have to take them separately?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I like to use them separately but in a pinch, simultaneously still wrks.

  53. dmrsd says:

I have your Cell Salts curriculum copyright 2014 and its pregnancy schedule is different from this schedule printed on this webpage. Which pregnancy schedule do you recommend I use?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I publish information that is different on specific conditions because it’s important to recognize that there is more than one way to approach the same condition. I can’t tell you what is best for you without taking your case and learning what conditions you might be suffering from but I can tell you that none of the protocols that I have discussed is incorrect or superior to another.

  54. Rachel says:

I am 7 months pregnant and recovering from whiplash sustained in a rear-end car accident. I am taking Mag. Pros. 6X, 4 tablets x 3 a day for the pain in my lower back, as well as Arnica 30C. The Arnica didn’t touch the pain at the bottle’s recommendation of 4 x 4/day, but since reading your site, I’ve learned that for sudden symptoms, especially pain, go ahead and dose as needed in the beginning. When I took 4 every 15 minutes, that was the ticket, THANK YOU!

So since I’m seeing results with the Arnica 30C but it’s not taken the pain completely away, I’m considering upping it to 200C x 5 tablets and spacing out dosages until/if pain is felt, or should I stick with 30C? Also, alternating that with Bryonia 30C or 200C seems to be indicated, but I’m unsure of Bryonia’s safety in pregnancy. Am I on the right track with these 3 remedies?

Thank you Mrs. Calabrese, I can’t wait to order kits and take classes with you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I see no specific concern over using Bryonia during pregnancy.

  55. Katie Tann says:

Hi – I’m very interested in this protocol. Are any additional vitamins required – i.e is folic acid still required up to 12 weeks?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I urge women to get their vitamins from their food by making e. meal a nutrient dense feast. Vitamins from pills are synthetic hence not as robust.

      1. Katie Tann says:

Thank you. Do you recommend a particular diet plan to follow? If so where can I find more information?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Its pretty simple: high animal protein (about 20 grams per day), everything homemade from scratch, lots of yogurt, milk, cheese, eggs, meat, loads of vegetables with butter, butter, butter.
Everything, as much as possible, from free range, and well-sourced organic.

          1. Jacklyn says:

Beautiful, Joette thank you so much. 7 months with third baby and so excited to start my protocol, I just received my salts today!

  56. Rachel says:

Thank you for this info! Was wondering– I was told to keep taking my “prenatal vitamins” as long as I was nursing my baby. Should I continue using the Month 9 protocol or is something else indicated for post-pregnancy recovery? Thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’m not a fan of prenatal vitamins. Synthetic stuff and an over abundance of iron.

Whenever you want to know a protocol for a specific condition, using your browser key in, for example, “JoetteCalabrese nursing” and you’ll likely find what you’re looking for.
In this situation, use precisely what I used as an example and you’ll have your answer.

      1. Rachel says:

        Thanks!! I didn’t use Prenatals either 😉

  57. Andrea says:

Is there any reason not to take this with having a cesarean scar? I’m going to try for a VBAC this time but I read that the Calc Fluor helps stretch ability where needed and limits where it shouldn’t.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I know of no known reason to avoid it for C-section scars.

      1. Andrea says:

Thank you, Joette! I’m looking forward to starting this protocol 🙂

  58. Abby says:

    Hi Joette,
Could a mother take both the cell salt protocol and calc carb 30, 2D for 8 months (then Pulsatilla the last month) as described in the pregnancy protocol listed in the Feminopathy course?
    Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

We often use a number of homeopathic medicines simultaneously. And the ones you mentioned are considered complementary.

      1. Abby says:

Excellent! Thank you very much, Joette.

  59. Shruti says:

When you say “3-4 pills of each remedy ,three times a day”, did you mean,3-4pills of each medicine , thus totalling 12 pills, three times a day?

Or could you clarify the dosage?. Im a bit confused.

  60. Andrae says:

I’m putting the cell salts in water in the morning to drink throughout the day. I’ve noticed it’s taking a really long time for them to completely dissolve – like a couple hours or so. I’m using hyland’s cell salts. Is it ok to give it a swirl or is it ok to sip from when they’re not completely dissolved?

  61. Claire says:

Do cell salts have to be taken 15 minutes away from food and drink like other homeopathics?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Cell salts are the same as any other homeopathic medicine, so follow the same rules.

  62. Alanna says:

I would love to try this and went and added all the cell salts to my cart but am curious, none of them are like vitamins they are for the healing of a fever, PMS symptoms, headaches etc, how do these help a growing baby ?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

To explain how homeopathy acts would take more than what I can explain on this forum. Having said that, homeopathy stimulates the body’s natural ability to make corrections instead of adding a synthetic vitamin… Much more intelligent than vitamin therapy. I urge you to continue reading my blog and if you find you want more info on cell salts, consider my CD on the subject ” Cell Salts; the Easy Homeopathy”.

  63. Melissa says:

I am 28 weeks pregnant and feel like my body needs several of the cell salts. But I only have them in 200C liquid form. I would prefer not to go out and buy another set in 6x. Is there a way to do this protocol in 200C? or would it just not work the same?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

ITs not the same. Potency matters.

  64. Lang says:

I have read all the Q&A, and I’m still not crystal clear on the verbiage on how to take advantage of the “pellets in water” method. For example, for Month1, the “dissolving under the tongue” method would be: 4pellets/remedy, 3xday= 12pellets/dosage = 36pellets/day. So, if I chose the “pellet in water” method, would it be: a) 12pellets in 4oz water, 3xday, b) 12pellets + 4oz water for the whole dsy, or c) all the day’s dosage, 36pellets+4oz water, for the whole day. Thank you for your understanding and help in clarification.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

“Take three to four pills of each remedy (assigned for the month)three times each day.  Alternatively, you can dissolve the pellets in four ounces of water and take a sip of this preparation three times a day.”

Consider the number of pills per dose; not how many you take at the end of the day.

      1. Lang says:

Thanks for the prompt response. But, I didn’t understand the way you wrote about it or the way you answered the previous Q&A. Therefore, I still don’t understand it now. So, the alternate way (aka the pellets in the water method) uses less pellets, right? I’m trying to understand if it’s a one-time preparation of 3-4 pellets per remedy in 4oz of water, where you sip from that one-time preparation for the whole day. Thank you in advance for your help.

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

“You can dissolve the pellets (three to four pills of each remedy)in four ounces of water and take a sip of this preparation three times a day.”
This is the mixture from which you take your sips for the rest of the day or days. When it’s empty you begin again with a new mixture. Yes, fewer pills will be used in the water process.
I believe the reason you’re having a difficult time understanding this is that you are not familiar with homeopathy. You might want to get a little deeper understanding of dilution. I urge you to consider joining one of my Gateway to Homeopathy study groups. Given that you’re pregnant, its the perfect time to take this up.

          1. Lang says:

            Thank you!
I would love to take your course. Financially, I’m not able to right now.

          2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Study my blogs. Listen to my podcasts and watch my Facebook Lives. they’re a course that’s free.

  65. L. Schmidt says:

If i do the sell salt regimen and continue to take a prenatal vitamin (garden of Life brand, organic food based multivitamin) will the combination of iron (18mg per day from prenatal) and ferrum phos cell salt produce too much iron in my body?
I am aware that too much iron can create problems.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’m not familiar with that product but I believe its always better to get our nutrients through good quality food. Why not just eat your vitamins and instead of taking them? Ferrum phos might indeed be too much for you as well but I have more trust in it over taking iron in gross form.

      1. L. Schmidt says:

I have had ongoing swollen neck lymph nodes/glands for 2 months now (I am 8 weeks pregnant) with no pathology (running blood work and doing an ultrasound on my neck showed nothing concerning). So I am trying to problem solve this issue on my own now.

Anyways, I have ordered hepar sulph 200c (I only have 30c potency at home) per your blog instructions to hopefully help with the swollen nodes! I own your materia Medica and also enjoy finding info on your blog as well – it’s amazing to have you share so much info for free. Thank u, u are a blessing.

  66. L. Schmidt says:

I meant to also add that I have been on your cell salt regimen for 4 weeks now and I think I will need to heed your advice and reconsider the prenatal. The combination of Ferrom phos and iron from the prenatal may be causing issues in my body – too much iron leading to swollen lymph nodes. Just a guess, the detective work continues!

  67. Sveta says:

I have so loved using this protocol during my pregnancy! Now almost at 9 months – only a few weeks to go before baby is here – I am wondering if there is a postnatal protocol that can help support me once baby is here? Support with healing, hormonal adjustments, breastfeeding etc….. I don’t want to stop taking the cell salts 🙂

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I cover this subject fully in my course titled “Feminopathy”. BUT…if you want a quick response, check out my abbreviated version of what to take during pregnancy on this blog.

  68. Ronit Pitrone says:

When dissolving in water, can I dissolve all three cell salts in 4 ounces, or do I need different glasses For each cell salt? My nausea is pretty bad and can’t quite take them plain so I wanted to try dissolving is water and taking a sip. I just wasn’t sure if I am dissolve all three remedies in one

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Yes, more than one homeopathic medicine may be dissolved in water simulatneously.

  69. Rachel says:

    Mrs. Calabrese,

Someone told me that women can take the “Month 1” remedies a full month before planning to conceive. Do you find this to be a good idea?

    Thank you very much.

  70. Megan says:

Do I do these in place of a prenatal or alongside? Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’m not a fan of prenatal vitamins.

  71. Megan says:

I also have been having terrible acne since getting pregnant. I was told to cut out dairy to help with the acne but you’re saying to eat a lot of dairy. Should I just do the Banerjis protocol for acne alongside these cell salts and eat dairy? Thank you.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Good quality diary is an invaluable food particularly during pregnancy and after but if dairy is a problem it could be eliminated and/or a protocol could be commenced to uproot the problem.
I urge you to check out my online course GoodGut Bad Gut. Its spelled out step by step with appropriate protocols and case management.

      1. Megan says:

Thank you! When you say good quality dairy what would you qualify as good quality? I shop at Kroger. Is there good quality dairy at most grocery stores?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

          Free-range cows
          whole fat
No added ingredients other than the appropriate cultures

  72. Andrea says:

Which month protocol should one take if they’re newly pregnant and still frequently nursing their 13 month old? Thanks!

  73. Dia says:

I just delivered few months ago… I took this combo and felt great during pregnancy! What combo should I take now to recover in the post-partum?

  74. Beatriz Aguilera says:

I’m taking the cell salts on month 6 and also bioplasma cell salts but these last 3 nights my hands have gotten tingling. Is there something that can help me for that?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

Any time we see new conditions presenting we consider what is being taken as contributory. That means that the potential instigator ought to be halted.

  75. Tara says:

    Thank you, Josette!
I am struggling with depression while pregnant. Is it ok to take aurum metallicum?

  76. Rachel says:

    Mrs. Calabrese,

Do you favor taking Month 1 cell salts or the Banerji Protocol for pregancy for several weeks BEFORE conception, to kind of “tidy the nest” so to speak?

    Thank you!
    ~ Rachel

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

It’s a lovely way to put it, but it’s not something that I’d consider.

  77. aar says:

    Hello Joette
Its wonderful to read your blogs, posts and the information that you so generously share. I would like to know if Calc Fluor 12x can be used for cellulite and stretch marks, which have developed during the teens. Or is there some other protocol you suggest.
    Thankyou and God Bless

  78. Natalie Du Plessis says:

New to your website. Love the information offered. Thank you

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

Welcome! Check out my podcasts as well.

  79. MamaMurr says:

I am following the month 9 protocol because I am nursing my 14 month old. If I were to get pregnant again and I am still nursing do I just add the extra cell salt? So month 9 is calc fluor, ferr phos and silica. Month 1 is calc fluor, mag phos and ferr phos. Do you suggest just adding the mag phos and taking 4 remedies at a time since month 9 and month 1 are both applicable?

  80. Meg says:

I am 11 weeks pregnant and began this protocol the day I took a positive pregnancy test. I suspect I am proving Calc fluor as at about 9 weeks, I developed a painful bulging vein around my groin that is also affecting the veins in my lower calf in the same way (painful and bulging.) Would it be best to stop the Calc fluor all together for the remainder of the pregnancy, continue to take the Calc fluor but also take Hamamelis, or just lessen my dosage of Calc fluor to 1XD or even less?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

I teach that if someone doesn’t feel well from a medicine it should be halted.

      1. Meg says:

Is it fair to conclude that my body and baby do not need this cell salt in abundance during this pregnancy?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

I wouldn’t assume that a condition that arises during pregnancy or any time in life must be attributed to a homeopathic.
But the best way to know is to halt the use of a particular remedy and see if the condition remains or carries on.

  81. Ecehan says:

    Dear Joette,
Thanky ou bery much for great info!
I read somewhere that slicea can force foreign substances. I had a very big orthopedic surgery and they implanted some imolants and screws on my leg to stabilize the bones. I use cell salts 1, 2, and 11 (silicea) for support. But would silicea force the implants on my leg? Very scared now 😔
    Thanks so much!

  82. Holly says:

Hi there, I’m just coming across this info and I’m 5 months pregnant with twins. I know I’m very depleted and unable to tolerate most prenatals because the doses are too high for me. I was wondering if it’s ok to start at Month 5 of your protocol? Is it still ok although I missed months 1-4? Would I just buy Boiron? Or any other brands you recommend? I wish I could just buy them directly from you 😉

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

The schedule is arranged according to what is most needed in each month of pregnancy. This means that it can be commenced at any time according to the month of pregnancy, not related to what has or not have taken in the past.
      Boiron is a reputable pharmacy.

  83. Anna says:

The recommendation is for this regimen in place of a whole food vitamin, correct? I have already started this and while I wanted to stay away from a regular “whole food” prenatal due to inherent issues in ratios etc (I’ve been reading Morley Robbins work), I wanted to make sure I’m understanding Joette’s intent.

And if people have indeed only done the cell salts with a good diet, can they chime and and report back?

  84. shira says:

I always have insomnia, but pregnancy just makes things worse. I stumbled upon this page and started taking calc flor religiously. Oh my goodness! My sleep is SOOO much better. Insomnia is almost nonexistent! Thank you so much for sharing this, it’s making a world of difference

  85. Sara says:

Oops, I’m in the 6th month of pregnancy and I’ve been doing the water method mistakingly using only 1 pill of each 🙁

  86. Miranda says:

Hi Joette, I’m wondering if you can give any specifics regarding weeks of pregnancy during which to take these. It seems that everyone interprets the “months” of pregnancy slightly differently. Thank you!

  87. NICOLE COX says:

Is the 9 month protocol helpful to continue through the post-partum period??

  88. Jamie Ferrier says:

Hi! I’ve started taking Nat Mur to hopefully quickly resolve excess amniotic fluid (idiopathic polyhydraminos). I’ve been following the directions on the bottle – one tab 3xday. Any suggestions to improve my chances? thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, PHom M says:

There are protocols specific to pregnancy. Check out my blog for this or go to JoettesLearning Center.com and check out my online course titled Feminopathy where I discuss all matters of pregnancy. But probably most importantly or at least 1st, look at foods that are being eaten, drugs and supplements being taken that could cause inflamation.
Be like a detective and don’t take the word from the prescriber that this or that couldn’t cause polyhydr.

      1. Jamie L Ferrier says:

Thank you! I did check out your protocol, however I’m due in less than two weeks, so not sure if it applies to me as I’m in my 9th month and Nat Mur is not listed for that month. I’m also on a strict meat and veggie diet and have cut out all inflammatory foods. I’ve also increased vitamin D as that can help with insulin resistance. Would you recommend I take more than the 3 tablets a day of Nat Mur?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, PHom M says:

I’m not a fan of taking synthetically prescribed Vit D. Here’s one of the many takes on the subject.
          https://www.bitchute.com/video/miP4PCgrmKuv/
I can’t say what you ought to take homeopathically but Nat mur in general isn’t contraindicated at any particular time during pregnancy.

  90. Bailey S says:

Not a question but just a testimony about how LIFE CHANGING this protocal has been with my second pregnancy, I feel better than I did before I was pregnant. I haven’t gotten GD like they were sure I would (had it bad with my first pregnancy) pregnancy symptoms have been so calm and manageable. And my weight gain has been very minimal. 100% recommend.
