boils and cystsInfected cysts and boils are essentially the same in that the infection is what calls our attention to the problem.

Hot, red, swollen, tender and screaming for attention.

Get to the dermatologist! No, to the surgeon! No, to ye olde witches! They know about boils and warts and all things yucky, right?

Stop! These kinds of infections can be addressed with a no-knife and no-toadstool protocol I learned in Calcutta beside the team of homeopathic physicians.

Drs. Prasanta and Pratip Banerji are the father-son team with whom I studied for nearly six weeks last January. They call their method the Banerji Protocol.

But I call it simple, efficacious and empowering.

This is what I gleaned from my recordings in Calcutta. Pass this on to your friends and family.

Here is the Banerji Protocol:

  •  Hepar sulph 6C mixed with (or taken together with) Belladonna 30C every 2 hours when the abscess is quite acute and if there is pain.

If the infection doesn’t begin to change within a reasonable amount of time, then consider the second line of medicines:

“This will regress the abscess quickly, in a much shorter time than surgery,” advises the Banerjis.

Does it work? I’ve taught this method to at least 10 people with this problem in the last few months and treated two members of my family, including our cat. The abscesses came to a head and ripened within a few days.

No eyes of newt and no lancing! Neat and tidy, these little remedies!

What generally follows is itching and complete resolution after about 7-10 days.

Here’s what you’ve gained by using this method instead of conventional medicines:

   1)  It works!
   2)  No need to surrender to an antibiotic. This is probably the most significant advantage to homeopathy. Need I tell you why antibiotics are not a good choice in many settings?
   3)  No need for surgery.
   4) Self-empowerment. I actually rate this nearly as high as #2.
   5)  Low cost. The cost of these remedies is anywhere between $8-15 each and you’ll have enough to last for years.
   6)  Likelihood that the abscess will not return. Not because you’ve nuked it (as my kids would say), but because you’ve stimulated the response needed to finish the job.
   7)  It works! I know I said this before, but it bears repeating.

Now go ahead and tuck this protocol in a safe place. I’ll bet you’ll use it for a family member, yourself, a neighbor or a pet in the near future.

And when you do, be sure to tell your corner of the world how well it worked and send them other tips and tricks I’ve shared with you. This is how we keep homeopathy alive.

You never know when a boiling, bubbling event will come your way.

I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.

Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.

  1. gary says:

I remember having a cystic abscess on my head. In our family we called them bumps of knowledge. It was not a problem when I had a full head of hair. But as the hair receded, well you can guess, they needed to be removed.

I will never forget going on a special date to the Philharmonic with a bandage on my head the size of Lake Superior.

I wished I had known these protocols then.

  2. Sue says:

Will this protocol work to get rid of cysts that are not infected? My dog has a small sebaceous cyst. It does not appear to be inflamed but I would like to get rid of it.

    1. this protocol is for infected cysts and of course boils.

  3. You weren’t kidding that you’ll use it in the near future! Shortly after reading this, my husband came to me and said, “I have this boil developing on the back of my finger…”

  4. Elizabeth says:

Boils can be so painful and annoying. Thanks for this easy remedy!

  5. Liz says:

Where do you purchase these remedies?

  6. Anup Sharma says:

It can be cured by using single medicine given at a time, as described in classical homeopathy. All that is required is an appropriate case taking, Evaluation of symptoms, Selection of correct potency & dose of the similimum medicine.

  7. Kathe says:

Would this work for a ganglion cyst as well? My uncle has one on his thumb near the nail. He gets it aspirated and it keeps coming back. Thanks.

    1. this protocol is for infected cysts and boils only.

  8. sha says:

    Good Morning,
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! i get re-occurring cysts/boils on my thighs and cant wait to try this out next time i get one. Needless to say they have been not only painful but also very embarrassing. Is there a suggestion for anything i could take to try and prevent them? I do know that a clean diet helps greatly but has not completely rid me of them. again THANK YOU!

    1. certainly a clean diet is a good plan, but that is likely not the problem if the diet is already fairly clean. the protocol i reference is one that can be used for the next round of infections and if used properly has a history of reducing the chance of a return appearance. however, if they indeed return, the protocol is right there again. each show is an opportunity to rid the underlying problem.

  9. Anna says:

What if you have more of an internal cyst that is not infected or bothering you other than the fact that it exists. Do you use the same protocol?

    1. this protocol is for infected cysts and boils.

      1. Lisa says:

So what is the protocol for a non infected, not red, not inflamed cyst? My three year old has one behind her ear. It doesn’t bother her at all. It’s like a fluid filled marble size under the skin.

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’ve not written on this subject but plan to do so soon. Stay tuned.

          1. Lisa says:

I still have this problem for my three year old. Any plans on writing on this topic in 2016? Thanks. 🙂

          2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Did this article not help you?

          3. Lisa says:

No this did not help my three year old. The post was on angry, red, sore cyst. Hers has been there for about a year, it has not changed, it is a flesh colored bump on the back of her ear.. It’s about half the size of a golf ball. It hasn’t changed. It is not sore, red and doesn’t bother her at all. So what remedy for this?

          4. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

This is an educational blog, not a forum for taking cases. You may check this blog for information on cysts and should you be interested in working one on one, you may contact my office.

  10. Another Elizabeth says:

Would the approach be the same for styes? My neighbor came to me with a corker of a stye week before last. She used alternating hot and cold compresses and it eventually went away.

  11. Aimee says:

My son has these types of erruptions from time to time on different parts of his body, I was not sure if they were just really pimples or boils, I will be sure to try this new remedy combination, it may help prevent future outbreaks too, how sweet.

  12. Jennifer says:

would this work on what my dr. thinks is a nonreactive cyst due to shaving that is in my right upper breast quadrant/armpit area? it’s on the inside; not outside, not abscessing. i’ve had it for 5-7 years now and most of the time i don’t even notice it, but sometimes it is sore. (i’ve been having babies and breastfeeding every two years for the past 11 years) i have a health history of breast tumors/cancer from my mother and grandmother.

  13. Meghan says:

This is great, but what about cysts that have hardened and aren’t painful anymore–just unsightly? I’ve got one on my cheek that’s really annoying, and it partially ruptured (under the skin–yuck!), after months of hot water, drawing salve applications, etc., but now it’s coming back! Help!

  14. Sandy Schrecengost says:

I love and respect that you teach! Doing so is very empowering and generous, I might add. Thank you, Joette.

    1. Holly says:

Hi Joette is this protocol appropriate for an abscess in the mouth on the gums near the tooth? Thank you for all your work your information has changed my life.

      1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Yes, these medicines are also useful for gum boils or abscesses.

  15. Anne says:

Thank you so much Joette! I’ve been working on this exact issue for a while now using naturopathy, but I probably needed the homeopathy to give it the last kick out of my system. I’ll be using the remedies soon!

  16. Rita Martin says:

What about chronic cysts? I have one on my right shoulder (lateral) about T-5
Should I just do “Alternate between Hepar sulph 6C and Hypericum perf 200C mixed with Arsenicum album 3C, every 3 hours until greatly improved.”
Or are there chronic cyst RX?

    Thank You
    Rita

  17. Thank you so much Joette. I so appreciate you. Have a lot of trouble with sebaceous cysts and will try it with them. Have had the cysts all removed only to have them return. Thank you!!

  18. Diane says:

Would cystic acne fall into this category?

    1. Jen says:

      I’m wondering this as well.

    2. Christine Davis says:

Did you ever find a protocol for cystic acne?

      1. Lena says:

There is a Banerji protocol for acne that is Hepar Sulph 200 and Arsenicum Album 200, mixed, taken every other day.

  19. Maureen Smith says:

joette, Is this helpful with styes as well?
    thanks
    maureen

  20. Monika says:

Does this same approach work for eye styes? Are boils and cysts basically the same as styes? I’ve had a stye for 2 weeks now and I have not seen improvement after many hot compresses and pulsatilla. Interestingly the 2nd week I hardly noticed it was there (no compresses no remedies) as I thought it was going away and now it is larger and painful.

  21. Annie says:

Hi, I get cysts on under my lower eye lids a few times a year and they are an eyesore (pun intended) and they take a long time to heal, I have been to the eye doc but this last time I decided to fix this myself. I use over the counter neosporin and alternate with triple antibiotic – yes, not happy to do that, but compresses have not worked. I also the pulp of aloe that I have growing and that helps the most. I had less of a problem with this one I have now, but the cyst sack is still there although most of the infection has gone away. Will this method work on this kind of cyst? I have rosecea that causes this problem.

  22. Abby Odell says:

When you say “mixed with,” what do you mean? Would you please give the specifics?

    Thank you.

    1. In India, the 2 remedies are mixed together since they are often administered in alcohol. since its not as easy to find remedies in the US in that form, I’ve been either putting the 4 pills of one directly into the mouth and 4 pills of the other in within seconds of each other OR putting 4 pills of each into an ounce of water, allowing them to dissolve, give a stir to incorporate and taking in that mixture as one or two doses.

  23. Lizross33 says:

Joette. Thank you for sharing these remedies. My son has had a boil on his tailbone for a couple of years. It has not gone away and becomes irritated and will weep when he works out especially when doing sit ups. As it is chronic would a protocol like this work in this situation.

    1. this protocol is one that is used for both acute and chronic.

  24. Meghan Doran says:

Thanks for this post! What about cysts that have healed over, though–leaving only unsightly bumps? Not painful, just ugly. Is there anything to be done for them? Would you follow the same protocol?

  25. Carol says:

Will these remedies work for sebaceous cysts? These are not infected, but still are sometimes painful. Per definition they are “a closed sac under the skin filled with a cheese-like or oily material.”

It would be so wonderful to find a homeopathic remedy for this – for me and so many of my friends.

Thank you for all your wonderful teachings and information, Joette.

  26. Kathleen says:

Joette, Thank you so much for all of your posts. I love reading and using homeopathy. Do you think this may help for bilateral ear infections? My poor dog has been suffering with them for about 8 months. There is some discharge etc. and we (the homeo vet and I) just cannot pin point a lasting cure.

  27. Laura says:

Thanks for sharing these tips. I was actually reading the post when my daughter had a sudden issue and I was able to use my homeopathic knowledge to quickly help her and within a minute, she was back on track. (Issues like that in the past would go on for hours) Homeopathy amazes me and I appreciate you sharing so we can all be learning and applying. You never know when you’ll need a particular tidbit, so I mentally tuck all these bits away as you share. Thanks again!

  28. Coco-mint says:

    Thank you!

  29. Danielle says:

Are these remedies safe for a 9 month old?

  30. Homeopathic remedies have a reputation for being able to be used for all ages…even newborns. But as always, be certain that you know that what you’re seeing are boils as they are less common in babies.

  31. Marie says:

Would this also work with a pilonidal cyst? I have been fighting one for several years, now…

    1. this protocol is for infected cysts, not for the cyst itself.

  32. DebbyBruck says:

Dear Joette ~ Continue to provide the Banerji protocols for acute self care. If and when a situation arises, I will pop over here to find the answer. blessings, Debby

  33. Debby, i plan to share the Banerji Protocols with the world! as long as thy don’t mind. i’ll be out there teaching. thanks for your kind words. your work is pretty special too.

  34. BoilX says:

I wouldn’t trust anything but this!! Great information here!

  35. Anna says:

If a cyst has recently doubled in size and it sore to touch, can you assume it is infected? It is not visible, so it does not look red. I am not sure how else you would know it was infected.

  36. Jackie says:

Joette! I need your help……I am trying this now on a painful quarter size cyst under my breast. You said to wait a reasonable amount of time How long is a reasonable amount of time and what should I be seeing? I did 3 doses last night two hours apart and today I have done two doses two hours apart. It is less painful, but no change other than that.

  37. Juan Paulo says:

Thanks joette! but where can i purchase this medicine? I am from UAE. is it available in the pharmacy?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      Juan
I am in Calcutta now. I have read in the newspaper about homeopathic pharmacies based here in India with outlets in UAE. If you are unable to locate, try purchasing these remedies online at Amazon.
      Good Luck

  38. gary says:

Do you take the full dosage of 5 pills each time like the bottle says or are the number of pills you should take be different. I believe the silicia I have been trying says a dose is 5 pills. Thanks for clarifying.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

one would always take a full dose.

  39. Ruhi says:

Guys, Please help me!! I got a sebaceous cyst one good day. I am in acute pain. I do have a family history of it. I have already undergone two surgeries for this in the past I do not want to have another one now.
My homeopath is not successful so far. I do not know what he is giving. Please help.

  40. Ruhi says:

Rejoinder to my problem stated above:

My cyst appeared a month back. The biopsy has confirmed it be a sebaceous cyst. It oozes a little bit. I am constantly having flashes of pain. Can not hold the pressure of even the softest pillow. It is at my lower back.. very very close to where I had a cyst 20 years back.

  41. Sarah Keller says:

Thank you! I’m reading this late at night as I usually read your blogposts, and of course I don’t have the hepar sulph 6c potency on hand. In these instances, is it better to give the wrong potency so that treatment can start immediately? I just noticed my 3 year old’s inflamed boil before bed.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I usually use what I have on hand in a pinch, but when it comes to this particular condition, it is better to stay with the precise potency.

  42. Todd says:

I was unable to find Hypericum Perf 200c but could find Hypericum Perf 6c Can I just take 33 of them?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

It doesn’t work that way and the protocols are potency specific. You might try Washington Homeopathics on line.

      1. Todd says:

Thank you for your swift response!

  43. Anat says:

I’m a faithful reader of your great posts. My dog has sebaceous cysts as a genetic trait of his breed. They usually grow big until they eventually burst. Since I only had Hepar Sulph 30c on hand from my kit, I gave it to him and in a few days(!) they are diminishing to my amazement. However, I was reading in Boericke’s materia medica that the lower potencies promote suppuration, while the higher ones abort it. So would aborting the cysts this way be a bad idea as they may come back? Is promoting suppuration better for inflamed cysts/boils only? I hope you can teach us the distinction here and I thank you in advance if you do so!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I know the passage of which you speak and the reason Boericke discusses this is because some cycts and infections should not be promoted to suppurate because of their location. For an infection that is on the surface (the skin) it makes sense to encourage it to release, but if it is in a deeper location, such as an internal organ, suppuration could be dangerous. It hasn’t anything to do with a return of the condition.

  44. Anat says:

Thanks Joette for clarifying the reasoning for dosing! It appears then that using 30c for skin cysts (at least those not infected) may be a violation of the minimum dose but still does the work of getting rid of them…

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’m not sure why you see that as a violation of the minimum dose. Potencies are as crucial as remedy choice and frequency.

  45. Kristine says:

working on treating my hubby’s boil on his neck. Been doing the first recommended remedies for 48 hr. Wondering when to know if it is working? It has come to a head and is still red swollen and pain is marginally improved. She we which to next remedy. It is Really infected and he is very close to heading to the MD..

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

It can take days to experience a change. Watching for small improvements along the way, such as less redness, less pain, not as uncomfortable in general, etc. is what we need to witness and/or experience. That’s how we know a remedy is correct.

  46. PD says:

I am not a homeopathic doctor but I studied homeopathy as a hobby for many years. While I was a newbie (and pregnant) I developed a huge abcess on my neck (duck egg size) and it was so painful I, who am the most patient person in the world, was barking at everyone who disturbed me. I tried to read my homeopathic books but couldn’t since my eyes were too watery from the pain. So I thought to take Chamomilla 30, a pain remedy, so I could read. [The indication of Cham. is unbearable pain with anger.] About 15 minutes later the pain was so less I could read, but couldn’t decide which remedy would suit. Finally I realized the abscess was getting smaller, so I continued with the medicine and within a few hours it disappeared as though it never existed. My lady doctor (not homeopathic) with whom I had an appointment and who had seen it two days earlier told me she would lance it if it was ready, and was shocked to find it gone without a trace. She couldn’t believe it. It may be useful to homeopaths to know this in case such a situation arises again.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Excellent story. There is more than one way to skin a cat when it comes to homeopathy. I have found this or that remedy to be excellent for a condition and then someone, not unlike you comes along with evidence that an entirely other remedy acted better, faster, more thoroughly. No doubt, Chamomilla is one of the greats for extreme pain met with anger.
      Good thinking PD.

  47. Barbara Grant says:

If the abscess comes to a head after treatment, shouldn’t it be launched? Also, do you know if anyone does veterinary homeopathy?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I have not seen any reason to lance an abscess when using homeopathy.

I have taken animal cases via SKYPE, but I urge folks to still have a local conventional veterinarian close at and.

  48. Rachel B says:

    Joette,

I have 30c and 200c potencies for all of the remedies listed. How would you proceed in view of that info in terms of dosing and frequency?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

If you hope to enjoy the results that I have come to expect from these protocols, its best to purchase the exact potency.

  49. Katie says:

So thankful for you sharing your knowledge. If the boil has ripened and opened but some infection is still inside I assume you can continue the remedy until the infection is gone? Or until the entire cyst is gone?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I would use the remedy until the condition has been put to rest. Scar tissue, etc may remain, but if you’re treating an infection and the area is no longer infected, I’d consider it a job well done.

  50. Katie says:

I had a cyst on my back that became infected two years ago. Doc put me on an antibiotic, it took forever to drain and heal, and I never had it surgically removed like he suggested. The cyst stuck around and last month it became infected again. I followed your protocol, it came to the surface and drained much quicker than the last time around, and appears to have dispersed or become so much smaller than it was! Thank you! I’m curious if you ever wrote about uninfected cysts. I saw something on Pinterest but then couldn’t find it on your blog. Cysts run in my family, I’d love to help several of my family members! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and empowerment!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Homeopathy often trumps conventional methods. I plan to write on this subject in the future.

      1. Balvinder says:

My son is 18 years old and he is having boils in underarms since 3 years. When evere I go to Dr they proscribed antibactec Madison while he is on Madison he’s fine and after that boils come back again. Please suggest me which homeopathic Madison he can start and for how long

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I am not able to take cases in this setting. But I believe I offer pretty clear information here on how to approach these kinds of conditions.

  51. Priya says:

Please write an article to dissolve uninfected cysts as well. Thanks much for helping the community.

  52. Jillian says:

If one only has Hepar Sulf 30c, would this be sufficient in place of the 6c? Thank you.

  53. Jocelyn says:

Hi Joette! I was wondering is this the same protocol for absess’s in the armpit? My husband is dealing with this on a regular basis.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

This protocol is specific for most abscesses found on the skin.

      1. Jocelyn says:

Thank you. We will try it!

      2. Connie says:

For 53 years I have had Hidradenitis Suppurativa. This is a disease, and you get sebaceous cyst/boils in the groin area, armpits, under breast, on waist, buttocks and other places. Please look it up online. It is considered a disabling disease and my gynecologist said he never seen anyone that has it as bad as I do. For over 50 years I have been trying to find something that will help control these painful sores/boils/cysts. I have had surgery only to have them return in a few months. I have taken antibiotics and as long as I was taking them the abscesses were under control, but when I stopped they came right back. I use extra strength Emuaid to speed the healing time, but I am very interested in homeopathy treatment. Where can I buy Hepar Sulf 30c?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

          amazon

        2. Hélène says:

How are you doing with HS? I have it too. So painful, disabling. Stinging pain, burning. The abscesses in the groin/crotch send shooting pains. Unless antibxs are taken daily, the topical antibx take at least 2 weeks to get any of the abscesses to dissipate. Im worried about the disfiguring …and even needing reconstructive surgery in my crotch at some point.
Mine dont ever rly supprate, just very slowly reabsorb.

          1. Hélène says:

Joette, Have you ever used Emuaid for boils? It has the homeopathic form of colloidal silver in it, along with emu oil and a ferment. Ive never seen you mention it.

          2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

            I have not.

  54. Abil Kaushik says:

I have a boil in my left ear since last 3 yrs.,white dull and painful when touched. Dr says it is due to high uric acid problem. I have also big gout on my left small toe.

kindly suggest any suitable remedy to remove this boil from ear.I am 57 year male.

    Anil Kaushik

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      This article says it all.

  55. Brooke says:

I get terrible infected boils when I come into contact with cats. Even if my baby pets a cat and then touches my face or shoulder etc. I wonder if it would work for me even though it seems more like a cat allergy? I’ve searched high and low for a homeopathic remedy for boils from exposure to cats, but maybe I should just treat the boil instead of the cat allergy.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Sometimes the etiology of a condition matters, sometimes not.

  56. Jonella says:

If the remedy is given every two hours while acute, how far apart are the doses as it improves?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

It is used according to symptoms. As it improves, the space lengthens. If you have a headache and take Tylenol, you would repeat it when the headache returns. Pain is the symptom. Similarly, if we watch for symptoms and they improve but return after a certain amount of time, that time will determine the spacing for repeated administration of the homeopathic.

  57. Kingston says:

I love all the remedies you post, thank you Joette! Could you post something for a ganglion cyst please?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Yes. Thanks for the suggestion. Should you need the info asap, I cover this in my on-line course, Skin, The Ugly Truth.

      1. Holly says:

Thank you I will be signing up for one of your courses soon. Your a gem for all you share. Thank you!

  58. Sandy Dundon says:

I get that it has to be infected. What if it is an epidermal cyst that appeared about a year after surgery? Not sure if that is considered an infection? Or if this protocol would work on an internal cyst?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The way you’ll likely know if something is infected is if you find yourself saying…”Hmm, its red, or painful, or sore or proud….I think this is infected.” If you’re still wondering, it might behoove you to get a diagnosis, particularly if it has been for a long period of time.

This protocol acts on infections, not inactive, non-invective cysts.

  59. Sandy says:

I used the protocols the proper amount of time on a woman who has a very painful cyst or absess. We did not have success. Then we tried silica 6 several times yesterday. The cyst burst and drained today after getting golf ball size with much pain. Since it’s recurred in the same spot 7 times in the past ten years, she is considering have not it excised to prevent recurances. Could the silica have already handled that?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

If it hasn’t, its an indication that it needs repetition.

  60. Sandy says:

If the cause is a hair follicle that is submerged or scar tissue, or if its a pilonidal cyst, would the silica expel those? Ie, does it work on that type of cyst? We are not sure if it didn’t burst from the natural life cycle of the cyst, which has historically incompacitated for one week. We don’t want to chance that she gets it again.

  61. Alana says:

Hi Joette, my 4 year old daughter has an abscess on her abdomen. I notice that in this article you suggest Hep Sulph 6, but in your article “Hepar Sulph the Homeopathic Antibiotic” you suggest Hep Sulph 30 for abscesses on the skin. Can you clarify?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      Both potencies act well.

  62. scott says:

IhI have a ganglion cyst in my left shoulder what do you recommend for it?
    thanks
    scott

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’ve not written on the subject of ganglion cysts but I will certainly consider it for the future.

  63. scott says:

what to take for a ganglion cyst in my left shoulder?
    thanks

  64. gkuintzle says:

does this work if someone was told they have a cyst internally?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      It is not the same.

  65. Jen says:

Hello, is the appropriate for dental abscesses?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      yes

  66. Kate says:

Please could you clarify further these directions:
“Alternate between Hepar sulph 6c and Hypericum perf 200c mixed with Arsenicum album 3c, every 3 hours until greatly improved.” I do not understand which two should be combined and which one taken alone. Does it mean “Alternate between ( Hepar sulph 6c and Hypericum perf 200c )mixed with Arsenicum album 3c, every 3 hours until greatly improved. Or does it mean “Alternate between Hepar sulph 6c and (Hypericum perf 200c mixed with Arsenicum album 3c,) every 3 hours until greatly improved”? If you can help, thank you so much!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Hypericum and Ars are mixed and should be alternated with HS.

  67. Mary Herman says:

Story, husband was shot in back in Vietnam, but was wearing a flack jacket which saved his life. Ever since then he has had a bump that dumps a thick cheesy discharge when squeezed..smells so bad,,like when I had an ear infection drainage. But it is not hot or painful. Does get uncomfortable when full to the limit. Wouldn’t the smell indicate infection?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’d have it looked at to find out.

  68. Natalie Peterson says:

My husband had a huge one on his back that responded well a year ago with Hep Sulph 30c alone. I can see now after a year that it may come back, but I’ll repeat again now likely since reading article. Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Its always better to treat when something presents instead of using the rationale that it might return later.

  69. jeet says:

Thanks a ton Joette. The Banerji protocol worked for me in 3-4 days the boil started subsiding.Had taken Antibiotic Course twice. Worked the 1st time only. The boil had 1st appeared at the same place 2 & 5 years ago respectively. Shall I continue with the above for a year or two. Heard that Homeopathy needs to be taken for a long term to eliminate the cause completely from within.
Also, is there such a Protocol for Sinus? Thanks again.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

We use a medicine for only as long as it is needed. That is, when a skin affliction is gone, the medicine is no longer needed. If a condition presents again, we take up arms.

  70. Sweety says:

Dear Joette, will this method work for vaginal boils or cyata too? I have recurring ones since 14 years. It started during last trimester of my pregnancy (14years back) . Please let me know. I am tired of trying antibiotics, skin ointments etc

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Only if they are true boils or abscesses and not just cysts will this protocol be considered.

      1. Sweety says:

Thank you so much for your reply. I am not clear whether these are boils or cysts. They don’t have pus most often. They are red in color and very painful(especially on touch). They don’t spread/infectious. Please help with this.

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

You need the correct diagnosis to use the specific protocol. Find out what they are and move from there.

  71. Alison says:

I just ordered from Washington Homeopathic, but they only had a 7c in stock of the hepar sulph. I ordered it anyway, as I was also getting a kit of 30c. Would this work?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

If you hope to see the results I’m accustomed to seeing, its best to follow the protocol. Why not just order via the link in the article?

  72. Alison says:

I just ordered from Washington Homeopathic, but they only had hepar sulph 7c in stock, not a 6c. Will this work in a pinch?

  73. Alison says:

Thanks for pointing out that link! I’ll do that 🙂

  74. Vivi says:

Yesterday I went to the doctor with a bump on my private area, she said it was a cyst, a common thing to happen. I’d had it for two weeks now and we decided to wait until next week for her to make a procedure to drain it. I can home and found this article of yours. Thankfully I had these homeopathic meds and started right the way with a lot of faith and site bath. Less than 24 hours taking the homeopathic meds the cyst bursted. I was so happy and thankful for your generosity in sharing your wisdom. I will keep taking the meds for two more days. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. And God bless you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      ‘So happy to hear!
      I love canceling unnecessary appointments.

  75. kking010 says:

I am trying to figure out if there is any way to treat a dental cavitation with homeopathy. It is not a cystic abcess but I cannot find anything about abcesses when I search on Joette’s website. Other homeopathy websites just talk about dental surgery or ozone treatments, etc. I really don’t want to have surgery or stuff injected into my body. Thank you.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I plan to put together a course on the subject of dental conditions with an emphasis on cavitations, osteomyelitis, abscess, etc. I have extensive experience with this/these condition/s.

      1. Kimberly A King says:

That is fantastic. Do you have a release date for this course? If it will be >6 months, then could I try to get an appt with you? Thank you.

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

In what course are you interested?

  76. kat says:

With the Banerji Protocol, how many pellets — just follow the label recommended amount? Does one wake from sleep to get in dose every 2 hours, or is it okay to sleep through and miss dosing for 8 hours whilst sleeping? Thanks in advance.

    – Hepar sulph 6c mixed with (or taken together with) Belladonna 30c
    every 2 hours … or …

    – Hepar sulph 6c and Hypericum perf 200c mixed with Arsenicum album 3c, every 3 hours

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The number of pills that comprise a dose is printed on the side of the bottle.

If someone is in an acute state, they will easily be able to take a medicine e. 2 hours because pain and suffering will keep them from sleep. If it’s not acute or serious, it should not be taken as frequently.

  78. Jennifer says:

My son has a boil that got infected with staph (non-MRSA). Would this protocol work for staph? Thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Its specific for boils. If that’s what it is, then its likely a fit.

  79. Rajesh Banerjee says:

Hi doctor, i have a “sebaceous cyst” below left shoulder. Have had it since 2012 – then 2015 and again now. Have been going to local homeopath each time – but the treatment is over a prolonged period before the cyst actually burst. At present it is red hot, though no sign of pus yet – will Banerji protocol suggested above work in helping it to ripen and burst quickly?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

This protocol may hasten, but it often can take weeks or months.
For the record, I’m not an MD.

  80. Sherri Guy says:

Would infected hair follicles as in folliculitis on the legs be considers a boil?
Many of them are absessed and boil like.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’d not consider folliculitis a boil per se but pretty close. In this case, thinking a little outside the box may prove fruitful.

  81. Brieanne Rice says:

    Hi Joette,

Was just told by an ER doctor that I have an ovarian cyst. Would this protocol help? I was looking into Sepia for this as well. Maybe because it is a female part, something pertaining to the female system would work better?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Learn as much as you can so that you can use the specific protocol for the specific organ. I believe I’ve written on this subject on my blog but if you don’t find it you might want to take my ongoing course “Feminopathy”.

  82. Sarah says:

I have searched your site and google for ganglion cyst with no results. If you have done a post on it, could you please send a link to it? Thanks!

  83. Cheryl Baldwin says:

Joette, the hepar sulph/ belladonna protocol for a cyst was my first introduction to homeopathy in 1983. The heat and pain gone in under six hours, all swelling gone the next morning. I was intrigued enough to pick that chiropractor’s brain for MONTHS. I bought a kit, a materia medica and a homeopathy at home book and three years ago found you. I am now enrolled in my first class of yours, Allergic. Thank you for your generosity and all your energy. We can change the picture of heath with this true HEALTHcare

  84. M. says:

Good afternoon, Joette. I can’t seem to find Arsenicum album 3c anywhere on the internet. May I kindly ask that I be pointed in the right direction? Thank you and God bless.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

if you’re a student or a client of mine you may purchase it at OHM PHarmacy. If not, then 6x will have to do.

      1. M. says:

Thank you, Joette. As I was traveling, I was not able to order and have sent to me the other remedies. I had and used Hepar sulph 30X and Belladonna 30X. I took those remedies as directed above for about a week. I did not see immediate improvement, but noticed one day that the problem had been resolved. I thank you so very much for sharing this information and answering my question. God bless!

    2. Jan says:

      M, I just ordered the Arsenicum 3c at abchomeopathy.com.

Joette, thank you for this article! I appreciate all the wonderful information that you teach! I have learned so much since finding out about you and your website, Gateway classes and other courses. They are very empowering!

      1. M. says:

Thank you, Jan. I’m keeping this information. God bless.

  85. Patricia Victor says:

May 15th of this year (2019) I woke up with, what I realized by that afternoon, a Bartholin’s Cyst. It was extremely painful and I got an immediate appointment with a local gynecologist who diagnosed me. In a short time, she was set to lance it and put me on antibiotics. I freaked out because I’ve already had too many antibiotics in my life time. Also, we were leaving for a long planned vacation in three days. So, I stopped her and went home to check on homeopathic remedies. I’ve followed you for a long time and was delighted to find this site of yours and followed the first line of remedies that day, setting an alarm to stay exactly with it. The next morning, I switched to the 2nd line of remedies and by the third morning, I had hardly any pain and continued the remedies through the week. We thoroughly enjoyed our time away and I’m so very thankful that I was introduced to the Dr. Banerji family and their book. I have a copy and have bought four more copies for family and friends. Thank you for your ongoing dedication to sharing this wonderful medicine.

  86. Lucy says:

Is there a protocol for cyst in thyroid nodule?

  87. Rachel says:

    Mrs. Calabrese,

The syllabus for your Skin course says that you cover cysts… are Dermoid cysts specifically covered? If not, perhaps the protocols listed cover many varieties of cysts & may be used?

I just got a friend turned on to Homeopathy and she would like to take this course if this condition is addressed. Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

As long as the cyst is on the skin it is covered in the Skin Course.

  88. Rachel says:

    Thank you!

  89. Kristy Stanhope says:

Im finding all this information very helpful. But Im wondering if the remedy or dosage would be different for children? Its for my 52lb 8yr old.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The frequency is not different and the number of pills is printed on the side of the bottle.

  90. Deborah says:

I have an interesting question, I have an infected growth/cyst on the back of my leg that was drained and cultured it came back a “primordial bacteria”. Tried antibiotic use, didn’t work. Would this protocol be the one to follow? I know you’re not taking any new patients I already inquired. Thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

It doesn’t matter what microorganism is identified but rather the diagnosis of an infected cyst. That will determine the protocol.

  91. Viswanathan says:

Thanks for the very beneficial article – read it in time when I am having boil eruption for the third time in this year. Tried the second option and looks like it works after two days of taking the dose ad suggested. When should one stop taking the medicines? Only after complete cure or when clear sign of onset of cure is obtained?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Generally speaking, we use these medicines for as long as it takes to halt the condition. If it returns, we commence using the medicine again.

  92. Viswanathan says:

Thanks for your quick reply. I will need to continue the medicines (the second option) I guess since as the big and perhaps the multiple boil appears to be subsiding, a very tiny eruption appeared yesterday two inches to the right of the subsiding one on the knee. It is not very painful right now, though. Please confirm whether I should continue with the second option or start afresh with the first option. Thanks once again for many benificial articles.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’m so sorry but without taking the case, I can’t advise you. Having said that, once we know which is the medicine that is acting, it makes sense to stay stick with success.

  93. Kara says:

My husband has a pretty big sebaceous cyst on his neck and it had been infected a couple times and he wants to get it removed. He was given antibiotics because it was before I knew about homeopathic medicine. Does your skin course cover sebaceous cyst and would the homeopathic medicine make the cyst completely go away? The protocols on this page are just for infected cysts right? and is it just to take away the infection or to actually remove the whole cyst? Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

This article is specific for infected eruptions. My online course, Skin, the Ugly Truth covers both infected and those that are not.
If you’re asking me to tell you that homeopathy offers complete cures for all people, I’m not prepared to put such in writing.

  94. Renee says:

When starting the first protocol for 24 hours total of 6 doses and no improvement should I start the second protocol? Thanks

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

If you read the article again you’ll likely find your answer.

  95. Aimee says:

Would this protocol work for folliculitis? I cannot find the banerji protocol for follicultis. Thanks

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The best way to know if a specific protocol will cover a condition you’re interested in treating is to look up the medicines in your materia medica. That will give you an understanding of the overall ability of the medicine.
Fundamentally, that’s what all of these protocols were derived from.
You might also want to extrapolate what indeed folliculitis is in relationship to boils, abscesses, etc.

  96. Kara says:

I’m assuming if the second protocol worked last time than if it happens again we skip the first protocol and start with the second since it worked before?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      That’s correct.

  97. Juli says:

Arsenicum Album 3c, I cannot seem to find a 3c potency?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

If you’re a student or client of mine it’s available through OHM Pharmacy. You may also try Washington Homeopathy, Hahnemann Pharmacy, and Helios.

  98. Aly says:

    Hi Joette,
Are you able to share your protocol or the Banerji protocol for non-infected cysts on the scalp and neck area of a baby? I have the Banerji protocol book but it’s not in there and I looked in a repertory for cysts and it gives a list of various medicines like Baryta carb, silica, graphites, calc carb, phos, lycopodium & sulph, in addition to several others. I have read several of the materia medicas on these medicines but it’s not clear what would be most effective for this and we know you have much experience and help to share with others who greatly appreciate your insight.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

I cover skin conditions such as various cysts on different areas of the body in my online course titled “Skin the Ugly Truth”.

  99. Aly says:

Okay, you had told a lot of people over the years in comments that you were going to be writing about non-infected cyst protocols soon…did you decide not to share this information with others unless they pay around $500 for a course? Don’t get me wrong, I would love to take all your courses, but the cost is quite prohibitive for a lot of people.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

I write about concerns that I receive the most requests for. My decision is based on what the greatest needs are of the general public and that ebbs and flows through the years.
Having said this if you’re a member of Joette’s Mighty Members or of Gateway to Homeopathy, the discount for my courses is substantial.

Meanwhile, use all that is free that I publish on this blog for the last 11+ years, never a week missed plus my weekly Facebook Live broadcasts, for the last 2+ years, plus my podcasts twice monthly.
I trust you’ll find plenty to work with here.

  100. Kathryn says:

Would these protocols work to subside a breast abscess as well? I had mastitis which I followed the banerji protocol on your blog and I thought it had subsided but then it turned into a breast abscess which I confirmed at the doctors as he aspirated some infection; it is very painful, proud but just a little red with no head so not sure if I want to encourage the infection to come out with this protocol if I am breastfeeding. Thank you for your wonderful work and willingness to share your knowledge!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

This is the choice I would make for infections that have turned into abscesses. Consider taking a look at my online course titled “Feminopathy” for further or later reference of protocols for female conditions.

  101. Tara says:

I posted here last night, but it seems to have disappeared?

  102. Jane says:

Joette – Can I administer this BP to a 3 week old baby who has what it appears as a boil with some drainage? If so, is there a specific way to administer it?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

I can’t tell you if you specifically ought to treat 3 week old with this or that medicine but I have administered homeopathics to my own newborns.
As always, follow the directions on the bottle regardless of age.

      1. Jane says:

My classical homeopath says I must dissolve in water and give a 1/2 tsp of the water as a dose – but I find crushing the pellets between 2 spoons is easier and then administering by mouth. Guess I just wanted to confirm that this is safe and effective as well?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

Your homeopath’s method is more effective than crushing the tablets. The medicine is on the OUTside of the pellets, not throughout.

          1. Jane says:

            Thank-you!

  103. Kat Enos says:

My son has pilonidal cyst that has ruptured it has been draining blood with a bad smell. He’s a teenager and just let me know of the issue. Will this remedy listed above work to heal the area? We’re new to homeopathy, and I’d really love to avoid the doctor and antibiotics if possible.

    1. Denise says:

Kat, Did this work for you? What did you end up doing to resolve? My daughter had one and ended up needing surgery. I just found out that my son has had one recur on and off for a few years now. I currently put Prid on it to draw out the infection, but just found this article. Thank you for your reponse.

  104. Kari Vanhoozer says:

Is this a typo? Hepar sulph 6C mixed with (or taken together with) Belladonna 30C every 2 hours when the abscess is quite acute and if there is pain.
OHM sells Hepar sulphuris calcareum 6C & Belladonna 3C Banerji Protocol.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

Either potency for Belladonna may be used.

  105. Penelope says:

Thank you for posting this. Extremely effective treatment for boil/abscess/infection: I used what I had on hand which was: Hypericum 200 + Arsenicum 200 + Hep Sulph 200 BID to treat the infection and Arnica 30c + Belladonna 30c for the inflammation and pain which I initially used every 3 hours until pain subsided then subsequently BID for a total of 10 days and complete resolution of symptoms.

  106. Mary says:

How many pellets from each vial? The vial says dispense 5… but I read the recommendation as 1 pellet per vial? Which is correct? Thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

In my opinion, the manufacturing pharmacy has the best information.

  107. Hakeem says:

What if it’s a cyst in the forehead, and it’s a chronic situation? No redness, no pus, although it’s hard to touch, and if pressed very hard there is pain. Doesn’t look like there is any liquid inside, it’s just hard. But other than that no symptoms. I checked the repertory, it had a rubric ‘wens’ head section. Quite struggling to find the best remedy for this, tried silicea and nitric acid before but no change. Other than that the patient has white spots/patches in parts of body. There is Itch if sweating is present. And it turns brown. Could be liver issue, it is also a chronic situation. The cyst is definitely sycosis, maybe a anti-sycotic remedy thuja or med in high potency and give another remedy in low potency which is suitable for the cyst? Skin problems are very difficult to crack! Looking to hear your insight into this. Thank you.

  108. Leslie says:

The timing of this repost is perfect. I just began treatment of an abscess on one of our cows two days ago. She was originally treated at the vet who drained it and gave antibiotics and said to sell her before it came back. She also said it wasn’t a tooth and the infection had moved to a bone infection that couldn’t be treated. It has come back, of course, and I refuse to put her through that torture again. The abscess is in her cheek and is huge (softball size). I’m treating with the hepar sulph 6, 2D. It already looks like it’s consolidating and shrinking down to a large golf ball. I’ll add Belladona in tomorrow. My question is this: I suspect also bone infection in her nose. My plan is to treat the bulk infection first and then move to bone infection treatment. Does this seem to be the logical way to proceed? I know precaution has to be taken for abscess/bone infection combos and when near teeth I’m looking at the abscess as the acute and the bone infection as the chronic. Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

When there are two conditions that are noteworthy, we generally use two protocols in the same schedule.

  109. Pamela says:

Always good information! I noticed there are several requests about sebaceous cysts (boils that are not infected). If you could add it to your list, I’m sure it would be helpful. Thank you so much for all you share so freely!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, PHom M says:

Should you be interested, I cover cysts in my online course titled “Skin; The Ugly Truth” found on JoettesLearning Center. Meanwhile I certainly will consider writing about it here at some point.

  110. Rebecca says:

Hi there, I’ve been diagnosed with MRSA. Will this help those kind of boils?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, PHom M says:

What you’re describing is the acting microorganizm; not the diagnosis. The diagnosis still remains a boil.

  111. Rebecca says:

Thank you for the response! I am so excited to try this. I get massive boils at least once a month. Is it safe to take breastfeeding and pregnant?
