Plantar FascitisThe other day, I ran into an old friend, Jessica, an avid tennis player. She said that she and a few other people she knew had recently developed plantar fasciitis.

“Would homeopathy help something mechanical like this?”

“Of course, it can!”

Homeopathy treats the ills of humanity. It doesn’t stop at mechanical conditions or injuries.

Plantar fasciitis, also known as “jogger’s heel,” is a common cause of heel pain in adults. The plantar fascia or arch tendon is a broad, thick band of connective tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot from the heel to the toes and supports the arch of the foot. When problems develop, the heel can become very painful and feel almost bruised.

The disorder classically manifests in pain that is particularly severe in the first few steps taken in the morning or after a period of sitting but improves with activity.

(Hint, hint. This should be triggering ideas in my students who study homeopathy with me!)

The pain may worsen towards the end of the day. Suspected causes of this problem include standing or walking for long periods on hard floors or a sudden increase in physical activity or weight.

Conventional treatments range from rest, stretching and ice to corticosteroid injections, custom orthotics, night splints and even surgery. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as aspirin or ibuprofen are usually the first thing allopathic doctors prescribe for this problem.

And we all know the dangers of NSAIDs. If you don’t, make sure you do before placing it in your mouth). And don’t ask your doctor about side effects. They rarely know and if they do, they play them down.

Instead, either read the insert that comes in the packaging (get out your magnifying glass) or go online to get a condensed version.

If you’re prudent, this will put a stop to your interest in such stuff.

Homeopathy approaches plantar fasciitis in much the same way as we do arthritis or any other chronic problem in the joint, muscle or connective tissues.

For years, I employed Rhus tox, Ruta and Arnica montana for this condition, but after working with the Banerji Protocol, I’ve made a shift and have found that their method is more consistent.

Their protocol is to use Symphytum officinale 200C mixed with Rhus toxicodendron 30C, taken twice daily until symptoms improve.

The results I’ve witnessed are more consistent, and I’ve encouraged chiropractors to add this to their arsenal. Those who have taken my suggestion have seen the same results as I, and their adjustments last longer.

Once symptoms improve fully, it’s time to stop using the remedy.

If you don’t have access to the two remedies already mixed, simply purchase a bottle of each and mix them together in your mouth.

Sometimes, when there are cramps in the feet, neuralgic pains in the soles of the feet and/or contraction of the instep with pain when stepping, a secondary choice might be needed. That’s when I employ Causticum 30C twice daily until improvement.

I jotted down the protocol for Jessica and how to buy the remedies on my card and asked that she please let me know of her success with it.

Not to my surprise, Jessica emailed me, but it was many months later.

She reported that after taking the remedies for a little over a week, she had no pain at all. The reason it took her so long to get back to me?

She didn’t believe it would actually work. And when it did, she thought for sure it was a fluke. She gave it a few more months, just to be sure.

No drugs with questionable ingredients followed by the promise of a new ill.

Only $20 for a bottle that will likely last for years.

But more importantly, Jessica won her local tennis championship because her feet were back to normal and without the burden of drugs.

What could be more frugal, intelligent and satisfying!

I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.

Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.

  1. Thank you so much I have some one I am going to share this information with right away. Some day I plan to go to school more for homeopathy I just love it.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Should it appeal to you, consider taking one of my on-going, on line courses where I teach these simple methods. If you’re interested, contact my office and Jill can give you the particulars.

  2. Jeanette says:

Some who read this might be interested to know that your Thyroid levels can also cause or aggravate plantar fasciitis.

    1. If you have thyroid problems and plantar fasciitis, would the thyroid also benefit from this protocol? And if there is the cramping and contraction, do you take only the causticum or all 3: symphytom, rhus tox and causticum?

      1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The method I use is to incorporate the medicines that are necessary for each of the conditions. Always, however with an eye for what medicine may cover a couple or so of other conditions. The way I teach this is by using as many as 5 homeopathics in one schedule. So no worries about using 3.

        1. Debbie says:

If the only symptom that is manifesting is severe cramping of the arch should I only give causticum 30 and give the other two remedies if and when other symptoms present?

  3. Jennifer says:

I am so excited about this, I can’t wait to try it!! I’ve had Plantar Fascitis for a few months now and it is driving me crazy. I never take NAIDS but I have been stretching and rolling my foot on a tennis ball many times a day and it helps for a while until I sit down or rest, it doesn’t seem to be healing. I tried Lycopodium and it helped for about 2 days and then didn’t help anymore. I’ll try to report back about my success. Thanks!!!

    1. Jennifer Smith says:

I’ve been taking this protocol now for 3 weeks and have not seen any improvement. I am a true believer in homeopathy and was wondering if I should continue or try something else? Thanks for all the great info you share with us!

      1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I can’t direct you as to what to do, but many times remedies don’t act for many weeks, sometimes a couple of months. That’s assuming that it is indeed plantar fasciitis. Additionally, this protocol works for approximately 80% of the population. In the remaining 15 % we see that another protocol is necessary and the last 5% another protocol may be required.

  4. Carmen says:

Hello, I could only find the synphytum officinale in 30c. Will this still work for me?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I use 200. If you click on the remedy in the article it will direct you to the place where it can be purchased.

      1. Carmen says:

Thank you, I will purchase it. Is it too much to ask the difference between the 30 and the 200?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I only just saw your potency question. 30c is potentized 300 times to the hundreth power and 200c is potentized 200 times to the hundreth power. I’m sure you’d like more information than this, but it would require a lecture on what homeopathy is and how the medicines are made.

Should you be interested, I teach this in my cd’s and books.

  5. JC says:

hmmm very curious Jeanette. This makes lots of sense for me! I do not know for sure I have plantar fasciitis. Just over a year ago I had mercury removed from two teeth. No more than a week after it was removed I got this pain in both heels. It has similar symptoms to plantars, but I question the suddenness of its appearance. After a month, the right heel stopped hurting leaving the left heel with this horrid pain. I have done many homeopathics and the best for a pain stopping for days on end was sepia. I have used the rhus tox, but I have gotten longer pain free results with the sepia. I have ordered the 200c Symphytom Joette.
I have a hand held tens unit and that has surprisingly done an amazing job of keeping me days free of pain. The pain has changed and is not an all the time thing. I am not taking any more homeopathics since the tens unit really gives total pain free relief. Now and again the pain comes back but nothing like it had been. I am ready to have this pain gone for good tho so I am going to do the regimen Joette has recommended.

As to the thyroid being an issue…I can very much see how this would be. I am dealing with low thyroid function not sure how to correct it. I have been reading Ray Peat & Matt Stone to hope for correction in this area. I really need to lose 20 pounds as menopause has gotten me to the point for the first time ever where I have gained weight and not able to lose it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated for some remedies.

I have done homeopathy for at least 7 years exclusive and never done pharmaceuticals. I eat grass fed meat and raw cows milk for the last 6 years and very serious about not eating food with msg whether added or created via process. I do herbs too, making my own tinctures and coconut oil & gelatin etc.

If you see any ideas that might help me to get my thyroid functioning would be a welcome blessing.

  6. Shirley says:

I have foot pain as well but not plantar faciitis rather Morton’s Neuroma. I play tennis and sadly I am forced to either have my foot operated on and remove the neuroma or stop playing tennis. I have taken up tennis at 64 years old and it has been an enormas joy to me. Question whether this remedy will help the neuroma. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

This protocol is not specific to neuromas.

  7. Beth says:

Timely article! I have been suffering with this since May. I have stage 3 adrenal fatigue, low thyroid function and this. UGH! I looked around the website to see if you had written about adrenal fatigue and how to balance hormones and didn’t find much. I would love to learn about how to treat these issues with homeopathy. I am taking many supplements currently which are costly and take a long time to be effective.

If you have words of wisdom for me, I would so happily receive them!

    Many thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Hello Beth, I only just now saw your comment and question. The way I would approach your question is to take your case. Should you be interested in discussing that idea with me, feel free to contact my office and schedule a free 10 minute conversation. I work with low thyroid conditions regularly.

  8. Sam is turning over in his grave.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      I don’t think so.

This is classical distilled after years of proof… in fact 150 years in the Banerji Clinic. Just as it is known that Arnica ought to be used for a head injury, I (and you too) know that a tendon needs Ruta or Rhus tox. To take this as a classical case is a waste of time.

  9. Jeff Wood says:

    Joette,

Great article. Thanks for the info. I can’t wait to try this on my athletes. I am a certified athletic trainer working at a major university and I use homeopathy on an almost daily basis, instead of OTC or prescription meds, and really enjoy your informative articles. I was wondering if you could give me any more info on specific Banerji Protocols for sprains, strains and tendinitis? Thanks again for all the information.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’m happy to write on these subjects, some of which are already on my blog from years past. Use the subject bar on the blog to find them. But I also have a CD called Perform in the Storm that discusses 1st aid and injury remedies. You can find it on “Product” page. If you’re looking for more, I teach via tutoring sessions where we can meet on SKYPE. Should you be interested in any of these and need help, feel free to contact my office.

  10. Lorie says:

I am dealing with plantar fascitis and I also have a heel spur. The plantar fascitis is getting better but the heel spur hurts. I was wondering if there is anything to dissolve it. I have been drinking apple cider vinegar. Thanks, Lorie

    1. Michelle says:

I did not see an answer regarding PF and bone spurs. If the PF is left too long and bone spurs have developed (according to x-ray), is surgery required or can this remedy still resolve the problem? Someone also asked about Morton’s Neuroma. Is there any homeopathic help for MN? It’s probably no coincidence that an active person has both conditions … I just cannot figure out what the cause really is.
Thank you Joette for everything and let me know if I should contact you for a private consult to go over all of this!

      1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Symphytum is one of the main choices for bone spurs as well as PF, but it would require a lengthy use of time to witness a change. I have witnessed neuromas that have improved as well but that would require the expertise of a seasoned homeopath.

  11. Shawn says:

Hi Joette, Will this work for Achilles tendonitis do you think? They are so close. Thanks, I need help with it:) Shawn

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

It amazes me how often a remedy that is specific for one condition works equally as well for another. I believe it could be effective.

  12. Bekki says:

Such a timely article! My plantar fasciitis had reared its ugly head again, and I was busy trying to figure out the cause… but doing nothing for the pain. (For me, food allergies seem to cause the inflammation that causes the problem, but I haven’t been eating anything I shouldn’t…)

I am on my third day of this protocol (thank goodness I had the right remedies on hand!) and my foot is feeling so much better. I look forward to being all fixed up in just a few more days!

    1. Shawn says:

      I really appreciate your reply!

  13. Donna says:

Hey Joette, great article! I had plantar fascitis several years ago and I must say it is debilitating. I did everthing I know as a PT (the typical stretching and friction massage, even went to acupuncture.) It finally subsided. I used Noni Oil too and that helped tremendously, but I do wish I would have asked you for the homeopathic remedy cuz I would have cured it a lot sooner no doubt. Next time I know, thanks, youre the BEST! And I always share your website and your articles!

  14. Chandrakant Kulkarni says:

    Hon. Joette,
Kindly guide me over prescribing Bowel Nosodes. Your special & separate Article on this topic will be a Welcome!
    Regards,
    Chandrakant.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Thanks for the idea. I get most of my ideas for blog articles from folks like you.

  15. Kim Bakker says:

I would love to have a link of where I can purchase these homeopathics to get started on this protcol for PF. I have been really struggling since last November and need help

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The remedies in my articles always have links in blue to where you can purchase the remedies on line. Just click on the remedy name and it will take you to the seller. If you prefer, you may also purchase the remedies in a kit from my office by speaking to Jill or Lisa.

      1. Nelly Sheehan says:

        Hi Joette
I gave myself a very painful Pizza burn on Tuesday night. It is now 48 hours later and my mouth hurts more then ever! I was told the mouth heals faster than any other part of the body. It sure doesn’t feel like that to me! Is there a remedy I can try that comes to mind? Thank you so much! Sincerely, Nelly

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

In the blog, add the word “burn” in the search box and you’ll find articles on that subject. I hope you feel better soon.

  16. Karen Little says:

Can Rhus Tox 200C be used rather than 30C? Also, are these remedies mixed together in water? How many pills of each remedy? Do you recommend succussion? Could you please clarify this for me? Thank you so much. I do appreciate you and the plethora of information you give us.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

You may use any potency you like, but if you want the results I describe, you’re better off following my suggestion.
The number of pills that equal a dose is indicated on the bottle.
You may put the remedies in water if you like and you may also succuss.
I don’t usually bother, yet it works regardless.

  17. Cheli says:

    Hi Joette!

Thanks for this. I am gratified that the rems for PF are like those for “arthur”. Easy peasy.

    Love always, Cheli

  18. Kim Bakker says:

A dear friend forwarded this article to me and I thank you so much for it. The homeopathics were orderred and are waiting for me at my post office box so I hope to start this week. I have been stretching, using natural anti inflams, did graston technique, arnica, low inflammatory diet and have custom orthotics for my problem of PF. This has been going on since last November and so I hope that this might help. I will keep you posted for the encouragement of other PF sufferers

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

yes, pls share your journey and remember to give it time. It could take weeks or even a month or so before you see a decrease in pain. slow and steady. Having said this, some report to me that it was 40% improved in a few days.

      1. Kim Bakker says:

Good day again! Well over a month again I emailed you regarding the dosages. I have the homeopathics in their proper potency. I am still confused over how much to take. The dosage on the remedy bottle from Boiron says to take 5 pellets 3 times a day ( which means I take 30-60 pellets per day)This seems like a lot and I don’t want to overdo it. The article you wrote talked of 2 dosages. I just really want to start on this. Please advise.

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

If on the bottle it reads 5 pellets is a dose, then that tells you how many pills used for each dose. If the protocol I mentioned mentions a dose twice daily, that would mean one would take 5 pellets twice daily. I”m not sure how you get 30-60 pellets per day.

          1. Kim says:

I am getting relief….God be praised!!

          2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

It doesn’t’ surprise me, but you made my night!

  19. Kathy says:

    Joette,

I am a physical therapist and a Mom (first). I have a 12 y.o. daughter that just took up running and is bothered by achilles tendinitis. I am going to try this protocol for her and will let you know how it goes.

As a side note, recently she horribly bruised her tailbone by sitting down hard on the edge of her sister’s car seat….1 dose of arnica 200 given at bed time for 3 consecuative nights and that is all better.

I am so happy I found you!

    Kathy

    1. Kathy says:

Well….I can write back now and say that it definitely worked for my daughter’s Achilles Tendinitis. She really started to see improvement in about 3 days and it continued to improve over the next 2 weeks after initiation of treatment. I would say she is at about 80% of normal right now. Well we are off to her last Cross Country meet of the season.

  20. Rachel says:

I have had plantar faciatis this summer due to wearing flip flops that aren’t supportive. By the end of the day I could hardly walk. I have been taking this combo for 3 days and I can say that I hardly notice any pain anymore. I would say it’s 75% better. I’ve been skeptical about homeopathy but this has certainly changed my thinking!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Rachel, I’m delighted to hear that you’ve improved. The reason you’ve likely been skeptical in the past is because there are no results if the remedy is ill-chosen. My focus on this blog, in my classes and with private clients is to use protocols that offer results that are reproducible. This is one of those protocols.

    2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’m delighted to hear but not surprised. When a remedy is ill chosen, it does nothing. When well chosen, it often gives us our lives back. This is the kind of information I love to pass along to my readers, students in my courses and private clients…protocols that offer reproducible results.

    3. Mohammed says:

I have suffering from planter faciatis, which medicine has to be taken.
      Kindly advise.

      1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

        What?!

  21. Lorie says:

I just wanted to update and say I thought the pain in my heel was from the heel spur. It hurt soooo bad. I started taking these and it took all of both bottles to start to feel a difference. I bought more and even bought the causticum. That was Saturday. 2 days later it is 90% better than it was 2 weeks ago. Thank you so very much for your blog!

  22. Melissa says:

Would this protocol be safe during pregnancy? Thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The remedies that are listed as having potential problems for pregnancy are Apis, Pulsatilla and Sepia in high potencies.

  23. Karen says:

My husband was taking this protocol for what we think is plantar fascitis. He began on Sept 4th. On Oct 16 he told me that a week prior he noticed his mouth felt weird, like he had a rash inside his lips and his lips were a bit sore. He thought his heel was better. He is hard to assess because getting info from him is like “pulling teeth”. I told him to stop the remedy. Presently he says his mouth still feels like it did. I was also taking the same protocol for arthritis symptoms. I began on Sept 15. When he stopped on Oct 16. I also stopped as I felt a burning on my lips which I was ignoring until he spoke about his mouth. I still have very dry lips and now cracks at corner of mouth. My thought is that it is from the Rhus Tox.(We used symp 200c and rhus tox 30c as recommended). What do you think of this? Thank you.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Yes, it could be Rhus tox causing this. That generally means one of 2 things. That either the protocol was correct but it was used for too long (that is, after the benefits had been accrued) or that it was the wrong choice all together. This would indicate that the problem was not what you thought it was.

At any rate, the symptoms will gradually diminish or they can be antidoted with a good amount of mint or such if too uncomfortable.

  24. Sanjeev K Jain says:

Kindly let me know that how many drops of both the medicine have to be taken .

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

It depends on the pharmacy that manufactures the medicine. Just read the label on the side of the bottle and it will tell you the number of pills or drops that are equal to one dose.

  25. Gay says:

I have used this protocol and my pain will go away but as soon as I stop using the remedies it returns. I have done the protocol for 3 or four months at a time but still it returns if I stop. Any suggestions?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Without taking your full case, its difficult to know for sure, but 3 months is not a long time, neither is over a year. Chronic conditions often take years to resolve but often the depth and breadth is not as severe as time passes.

      1. Gay says:

That is good to know. I was afraid of taking it for too long. I’m really only familiar with classical homeopathy and from the little I know about that (our vet treating our dog’s heart condition), I gather you are not supposed to repeat a remedy too long or if it doesn’t “hold” to look for a different remedy. I have to admit even though the pain has returned it isn’t nearly as bad as it was. I will give it another go! Thank you!

  26. Barb says:

    Good Info.

I cured my plantar fasciitis with one dose of Sulphur 30C.
I took it before bed and woke up whole and pain free. Have been for over a year!

    I love Homeopathy!

    1. Sunil says:

How is this dose to be taken. I have also been recommended Sulphur 30C but dont know how to take it. i.e. whether to mix it with water or directly drops to be taken ?

      1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

As for the number of pills or drops that comprise a dose, homeopathics are to be are taken according to the directions printed on the bottle.

  27. Gitta says:

I am using the protocol Symphytum officinale 200C mixed with Rhus toxicodendron 30C, taken twice daily until symptoms improve for 6 weeks now and see major improvement. However, I still feel symptoms and now I am unsure if I should just continue or switch to Causticum 30? Thanks so much!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The way you know when to stop a remedy is if the condition is aborted. However, you don’t want to necessarily expect complete 100% elimination.

  28. jivinjenjen says:

what is the dosage? the pills are so tiny… just one pill of both Rhus and Symphytum twice a day?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

A dose is what is written on the side of the bottle.

  29. Anita says:

How can i access ur course online, to learn homeopathy. I live in dubai. Hv immense pain in heal for last 5 yrs. anitasathaye@yahoo.com

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

You may go to http://www.Courses.JoetteCalabrese.com for my courses.

  30. Gertraud says:

Took the recommend remedies for 3 days now, the pain is nearly 90% gone, what a relief!
Thanks God, I could not walk or stand or even sleep uninterrupted because of the intense pain for 5 months now. I hope it does not return now. Thanks for the information.

  31. Gertraud says:

Today, August 9th, first time totally pain free.
Joette, thanks so much, may God bless you and your family and may all your undertakings be successful and wishes come true.
Please keep up the good work! Life is a Boomerang, eventually all the goodness will come back to you.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Many thanks for your kind words. I’m delighted that you’re feeling better. Keep going until its done!

  32. Lalit Chawla says:

Facing same problems in my heels very badly since 2 months. Exicted by reading all above comments. soon i ll start this protocol and comment. Thanks

  33. jessica says:

Can you use this protocol while nursing?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Any protocol I publish is fine during nursing.

  34. Sushil says:

I am based in India and suffering from Planter fascitis from past 6 months. It was occurred due to overrun , flat feet , bad shoes and heavy weight . I continued running with pain for 2 months even though I noticed it assuming it is something else. From past 3 months I have stopped running and doing all kind of stretches, changed the shoes and taken few vitamin and pain killer but pain isn’t going away. I
redcuced few kgs with some diet and cross training excersizes but that is also not helping either. Doing
hot & cold therapies ,Doing massage with ayurvedic massage oil but no luck either.Recently I visited foot & ankle specalist and he suggested that only streches will help to relieve the pain but I dont think so. Recently my friend told me go with homepathic
doctor opinion and i came your blog…can you please advise me on this please ?

      The article says it all.

  35. Mark Gonda says:

I just wanted to write and express my appreciation for this article. I had been suffering from Plantar Fasciitis for 3 years or so. I went to a foot doctor; he gave me shots in my feet made orthotic insoles for me, and told me to take ibuprofen. The shots took the pain away for 2 months, and the insoles helped considerably with the pain, but it never completely went away. I only took the ibuprofen for a month or so, but didn’t want to keep it as a regular routine. I continued for a year, hoping the insoles would just allow my feet to heal, but it never completely went away. When I took the recommendation on this page, the pain went away after the first dose. I continued taking it, but not exactly as prescribed, and the pain was gone for about 4 months. When it started to come back, it was not as bad. I bought more, and took a couple more doses. It helps better than anything else I have tried. I’m really bad at taking my doses every day. I believe if I were to take the full dosage as described, it would completely heal me, but I get too busy, and miss a lot of doses. So thank you! It works.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Delighted to hear! Pass it on to other rock climbers.

  36. deborah says:

Is there a Banerji Protocol for a similar PF foot problem? I had Plantar Fasciiitis many years ago which eventually healed, then about 5 years later developed Plantar Fibromas (lumps) in the arches of both feet. The podiatrist said he could give me steriods which probably wouldn’t work or perform surgery which also didn’t have a great track record. I’m thinking homeopathy might be the answer but my research hasn’t yet netted a protocol for plantar fibroma.

  37. Soymoon says:

    Interesting.
I googled PF and homeopathy. I was given 2 remedy options.
I chose Sulphur 30C. I took one dose at bedtime and awoke pain-free.
    That was 3 years ago!
Homeopathy is a miracle , when you have the correct remedy!

  38. Wendy says:

I don’t have pain in the heels of my feet, but the balls of my feet feel bruised. It hurt worst with the first few steps taken in the morning or after a period of sitting but improves with activity. Will symphytum officianale 200c mixed with Rhus tox 30C work for this kind of pain?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I can not say what your experience will be but we usually use this protocol for when there’s pain that occurs on 1st movement and is better on limbering up.

  39. Paulis Waber says:

Hi Joette. Would this remedy work for a bunion or should I keep searching? Do you have any ideas for good search terms? Lots of throbbing hot pain in big toe. Hurts to put pressure on it. I can see the bunion on side of my foot. This is new. I did a lot of walking this summer and think I could have used a more sturdy shoe. Never had this before.

Meanwhile, it’s about two months since I consulted you on my asthma and things are going well. I think I’ve used my rescue albuterol inhaler maybe 5 times in that period. Mostly just use the SOS you provided. Before, I used to use the inhaler about 2-5 x a day. I still can’t get by without my preventive inhaled steroid, but my need is much less acute and now the steroid does the trick whereas before it wasn’t holding my symptoms back. Slow and steady, right? Thanks Joette!

  40. Lori says:

Hi, Joette! Thank you for all of this wonderful information! I searched “connective tissue” on your blog and was led to this post. I have Diastasis recti and am wondering if the same remedy would work since it also involves connective tissue. A naturopath suggested bellis perennis. Basically, I am looking to heal and strengthen the linea alba so that it become tight and while again. Any ideas? Thanks so much! There are so many moms who would love a blog post about Diastasis recti specifically!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Soft tissue trauma is best met with Bellis P. I’ll put this in the list of ideas for upcoming blog posts. Thanks for the suggestion.

      1. Lori says:

Thanks you so much!!! I am in a FB group with thousands of women who struggle with these. It would be so helpful and so appreciated! And thank you for a confirmation of using Bellis Perennis!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      I don’t understand your question. Pls re-phrase.

    2. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Upon re-reading your question, I now understand. The number of times per day is always given in the body of the article and when you click on the link,(the name of remedy in the article) it will take you to the place where you may purchase.

  42. Bhupinder singh says:

Actually am suffering from my foot pain from last 2years… I already try lots of things like message , cold and hot therapy,,, injections,,, acupuncture,, but I didn’t get any relief….. 43. Flora says:

Hi Joette, thank you for the great info. I have been suffering from P. F. for the last 2 years. Pain happens on first movement and is better on limbering up. My life has totally been changed and pain has become a big part of it. A few weeks ago, I came across your page and immediately ordered the same protocol you had suggested. After taking those for a few days, very painful rash appeared on the heel of my foot. I continued taking the pallets, and after a week, I got two more red spots and I could hardly walk. I finally stopped taking both remedies and then noticed that my heel pain stopped as well. I think the rash might have been due to Rhus tox, and it healed shortly after I stopped taking both type of pallets.
The excruciating P.F. pain is still there although I have no heel pain. I wonder what other homeopathic remedies I can replace for Rhus Tox. I wanted to make an appointment with you, but after finding out about your fees, there would be no way I can afford it. Would it be possible that you direct me to different protocol for my condition? Thank you Joette.

  44. Karyl says:

Joette thank you, this really helped me. I’ve had Plantar Fasciitis for approx. 18 years from crossing Grand Canyon twice, hiking Milford Track in New Zealand and hiking to Macchu Picchu plus years of walking on concrete. It would come and go depending on my level of activity. (BTW for PF sufferers, Clarks shoes help a lot in alleviating pain). I wore UGG boots for 2 weeks of winter vacation in New Zealand this past July, and my PF came back with a vengeance, and I’ve had pain from July to November when I found your blog. Anyway, took this for approx a month or so and the pain went away. Then had too much tennis and it’s back again, but pain going down after a few doses. This really works, thank you!

  45. shandel says:

Joette, I get your wonderful news letter and love it thanks.
I have tried this 2 times. First time it worked and pain was gone for over a week then returned. So I tried it again. I use Symphytum officinale 200c (5 pellets )mixed with Rhus toxicodendron 30c (5 pellets) , taken twice daily. I started having sever pain in my Kidney area the second day. I drink at least 1 Gal water each day as well as other fluids. So I know it’s not lack of hydration.
My question is can either of these items cause Kidney issues? If so which one and why? I’ve searched for answers and have not been able to find any.
    thank you for your help.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Without taking your case, it would be difficult to unpack what has occurred. Too many unanswered questions.

  46. Kathy says:

… Love your blog! I have PF and have been doing your protocol since the middle of November. The pain is lessoned but gets worse when i need to be on my feet. I don’t really have cramping in my foot when resting… just aching. I thought I would try it anyway since I have been at this for almost 5 months without the pain being resolved. Do I take all 3 remedies together or separately? Thanks for your help!
    Kathy

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Causticum is taken separately while the others are taken simultaneously.

  47. Kathy says:

What I meant was I thought I wold start adding causticum 30… sorry!

  48. Jen says:

If someone has BOTH plantar and also the neuro pain you discussed would you add the two homeopathy remedies for the plantar, to the third remedy for the neuro foot pain-and take all 3 remedies in your mouth at once?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      Each protocol is taken separately.

  49. suki says:

Hi Joette,I came to know you through one of my friends. i am a tennis player and was having terrible pain in my heel the moment i get out of bed. i took your remedy and just within three days entire pain is gone. This is a massive surprise,i am very impressed. i am continuing the dosage until the symptoms get aborted completely. thsnk you so much joe. a big salute to your selfless service. just spot on remedies… love your blog.. keep going.!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

So happy to hear but not surprised. Consider starting a study group so that you turn others on to this medicine. I have a wonderful program called “Gateway to Homeopathy” where you can meet others in the same boat.

      1. Angie says:

Hello Joette! Thank you for everything you do. 🙂

I would like to ask you- Could it be possible that Plantar Fasciitis symptoms get worse BEFORE they improve?

I have been on my 10th day of doing diligently this protocol. I have been taking Symphytum officinale 200c and Rhus toxicodendron 30c twice a day, 30 minutes away from foods and drinks. I have noticed increased pain on both feet, which by the way, I was only diagnosed with PF on my right foot. Now I feel discomfort on both. 🙁 Yesterday, I had pain on my right foot to the point of not being able to walk properly. I was able to walk but clearly not well. I was kind of limping. It lasted only in the morning. But the discomfort/pain was throughout the day- on and off.

Could you please kindly share your knowledgeable opinion?

        Thank you so much!

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

We don’t see aggravations with these protocols. When someone gets worse, it means the diagnosis is incorrect or the medicine is incorrect.

          1. Angie says:

Joette, thank you so much for your prompt response! I cannot thank you enough for EVERYTHING you do for us. 🙂

Most likely the medicine is incorrect. I was actually diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis. So I have to choose another protocol.

            Thank you!

          2. Angie says:

Thank you for your very valuable response. 🙂

I also would like to share with you. I read ALL the comments on this “Plantar Fasciitis blog”. And a couple of them brought my attention in particular. Those two people said they used Sulphur 30c and that it helped them tremendously- One pill at bedtime. And according to them, they felt HEALED after just-one-dose. That sounds incredible! So I decided to give it a try. And the next day, I felt quite an improvement too! While it was hard to believe, I could not deny my feeling- I was barefoot touching the floor and felt “normal”, felt “healthy”. I am not 100% healed yet. But I would like to think I am on my healing pathway. Amen!

I would like to ask you..Is it safe to use this Banerji protocol- Symphytum officinale 200c and Rhus toxicodendron 30c twice a day- PLUS Sulphur 30c at bedtime? I think I would like to give this protocol an opportunity to heal my feet. I don’t know if I have tried it enough for me to be able to say “It doesn’t work”. Maybe my increased discomfort, at some point, was just a coincidence? Maybe I did a different physical behavior other than the typical? Don’t know. I’ll try to be even more, aware of my actions/feelings.

Could you please kindly share your knowledgeable opinion?

            Thank you so much, again!

          3. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

We often use more than one protocol in the same schedule.

          4. Angie says:

Thank you for your response! I really appreciate it. 🙂

I am just debating IF my increased discomfort is due to the increased amount of exercise and less stretching; OR could it be the possibility that an Homeopathic protocol be the cause of the increased discomfort? What worries me,is that now I feel discomfort in some parts of my feet where I don’t remember feeling discomfort for the most part or any at all.

Could it be the possibility that an Homeopathic protocol be the cause of the increased discomfort OR start discomfort in places where it was not present before?

            Thank you!

  50. Betty says:

Will this protocol work for plantar fibrona?

  51. Han says:

Go to the correct toes website, buy their toe spaces, find a pair of shoes that fit while wearing them. You need wide toe box, zero drop shoes. The tooth and foot connection is clear in Chinese medicine, try an injection of ozone into the afflicted tooth area to test it.

  52. Rachel says:

A friend has taken the Symphytum + Rhus tox for 8 weeks and says there is no change. I know many people fail to notice subtle shifts, but unfortunately she took no case notes prior to starting so we have no way of knowing.

Is this a condition which may be slow to respond? Is it unheard of to go another 8 weeks?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

When we don’t see even a small amount of improvement over a period of many weeks, it’s time to move on to the next protocol. One of the best ways to know if subtle changes have occurred is to halt the use of the presently taking medicine and compare.

      1. Rachel says:

What a perfectly brilliant idea! Thank you VERY much.

      2. FIONA B says:

Hello, I have plantar fasciitis for 3 years now and I have followed the protocol for 6 weeks: use Symphytum officinale 200c mixed with Rhus toxicodendron 30c. I have not seen any Improvement since my foot has always consistently to start to hurt after walking about 1 mile before and after I started the protocol. How long would you suggest that I should try this protocol for before I switch or add a different protocol? If I were to switch or add, which protocol would you recommend since I believe there are two other type of protocols that may work for the rest of the 20% of the population? Thabk u so much!!!!

  53. Regina says:

I just found an article that says tarsal tunnel syndrome is not the same as planter fasciitis. It said it is caused by a pinched nerve in the ankle but it also says if the pain gets better when you walk it’s most likely tarsal tunnel and not planter fasciitis. But my pain never goes away. It feels like I explained earlier. Like something is stuck on the bottom of my feet when I walk and it’s debilitating. I don’t have pain in my ankle. It starts just in front of my heel and goes all the way to the front of my feet. Like they have a tight bandage wrapped around them but just on the bottom. Have you seen this before? It’s very painful on my instep.

  54. Regina says:

I have what the podiatrist called tarsal tunnel syndrome which when I looked it up said it was caused by a pinched tibial nerve. But when I looked up the difference in planter fasciitis it said if it gets better when you walk then it is tarsal tunnel and not planter fasciitis but mine doesn’t get better when I walk. Mine never goes away. I can’t take Rhus tox because I had a bad reaction to it when I was trying to treat fibromyalgia which is the exact same protocol for planter fasciitis. I figured I would be taking care of both of them but I had to stop the remedy because of that so now I need a different protocol. Have you dealt with tarsal tunnel before or should I treat it as planter fasciitis with a different protocol?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

Dear Regina, As you can probably imagine, this is a teaching site and I’m not able legally to offer personal medical advice. Given how much you’re suffering, (and my heart goes out to you) I can’t urge you enough to work closely with your MD, naturopath and/or chiropractor.
Having said this, when someone suspects that they have taken the wrong medicine repeatedly, the method that I teach is found on my blog titled “Stop It”.

  55. Melly says:

How does this differ from a Haglund deformity? Would they need a similar protocol?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

If the pain associated with a bone deformity causes pain in a tendon it would likely be the correct medicine. But if the pain from HD is most certainly in the bone, then a bone-pain medicine would be in order.
Having said this, many homeopathics have far-reaching abilities beyond our expectations.

  56. hello Mrs. Joetta I am 17 I play a lot of sports but recently I have been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis about 1 1/2 years ago and my feet just seem to keep getting worse it has put a big poll on my athletic ability I don’t know what will help me with my feet but I would greatly appreciate it if you could reply back with an honest answer thank you!!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

All the information you need is right in this article.

  57. Aeron Hynes says:

I have a tried & true remedy for PF that works every time!!! Get some of those instant, 8-hour heat disposable foot packs from amazon (or another source)….. tape one to the bottom of each foot, outside of your socks, once in the a.m. and once before bed (wear them to bed). You can put another pair of socks over them to keep the heat in. Within 48hrs you will feel the pain begin to recede. It’s a miracle! It’s the ONLY thing that worked for me……

  58. Kimberly Palacio says:

Hi Joette, I’ve been suffering with PF for a few months . I am trying to order the products. Is Symphytum officinale 200c the same as Symphytum officinale 200ck? You recommended 200c but I do not see that as an option to order. Thank you so much!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

C and Ck are not exactly the same but are interchangeable.

      1. Donna says:

Hi Joette – I have a friend who was diagnosed with a torn plantar fasciitis. Would she use the protocol as described plus perhaps Bellis perennis for the soft tissue trauma? Thanks so much for your response.

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

Those certainly are well chosen for such a condition but not limited to only those. Use what presents as your determining factor. That is, if there’s a great deal of pain, consider pain rems.

  59. Cynthia says:

Would this also work for fascia in the area of the ribs? I over-streched the area in between the upper ribs (heard it as if something was going out of place and then back in place, like a clonk-clonk) By sliding into a pool while keeping my hand on a metal pole, kind of opening the chest area too much. The area just under the skin is hurting, probably the fascia. There is nothing broken but I need a lot of rest.

  60. Paula says:

This worked for me in a week. Thank you very much
