Hemorrhoids Are Party Poopers

Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids are absolutely no fun, but sometimes inevitable.

Mothers who have just given birth are particularly susceptible, as are men who drive for lengthy amounts of time on heavy equipment.

Thankfully, the Banerjis provide a protocol that performs equally well for whoever is plagued with these annoying little party poopers: Hamamelis virginiana 200C mixed (or taken) with Arnica montana 3C twice a day, until very much better. (Don’t forget to scroll down and download your free Remedy Card containing this information so you’ll have it handy for off-line reference.)

Why these two medicines? Hamamelis (the homeopathic formula made with witch hazel) is a premier medicine for vascular issues, and Arnica is especially well-suited for vascular issues, especially presenting with pain.

Also, Boiron has an excellent ointment called HemCalm® containing Hamamelis as one of the active ingredients. Sometimes an ointment can be more immediately soothing while waiting for the protocol to act.

Now, at about this point in my blog posts, I customarily like to relay a little personal story. But … uh … nope. For this particular blog topic. I just don’t feel like I want to shout that out to the entire internet world. So, I guess this blog post will have to be a little short today.

But I can assure you, in my clinical experience, that it works for most folks.

Do keep in mind, however, this protocol should only be used if the hemorrhoids are problematic: painful, protruding or obstructive. If they are small and inconsequential, in my opinion, there is no need to treat them. I prefer to use homeopathy only to treat a pathology — not just a characteristic.

Warmly,

There are many homeopathic medicines for that problem and as always, they depend on the other symptoms of the patient: NUX VOMICA, HAMAMELIS, LEDUM PAL., AESCULUS HIPP., of course COLLINSONIA, PHOSPH., and even PULSATILLA and SULPH .: no homeopathic treatment should administered without having a single symptom but considered aggravations, sensations and personality of the patient.

Certainly!…when using the classical method. Not so when using protocols.

  2. My husband has had hemorrhoids. He treated them once with a prescription from his doctor. The next time he got them I researched online and it seemed the remedy that fit him most was hamamelis. So, I had him take it in a 30c and he was better in a day or 2. The next time he had a problem he took hamamelis again and was better after 1 dose. Homeopathy is so much better than the allopathic route in so many ways!

  3. Hi Joette,

I have been struggling with these buggers for years and have tried all the BPs with no relief. When you sent this out I was really excited and went to the BP book because I thought I’d made a mistake in my protocols and was doing the wrong thing. Right above hemorrhoids in the Banerji book is the protocol for hemangioma, and it’s identical to this one. I’m just clarifying that this will work for both, because the Banerjis say in their book that this protocol is very specific to hemangioma alone.

    Thank you,
    J.

  4. I took Nux Vomica for hemorrhoids (per another of your posts featuring a list of homeopathic tips) during second trimester of pregnancy- by day 2 of taking it, the symptoms had subsided and didn’t return for the rest of the pregnancy. Whew! So thankful for homeopathy— AND the wonderful info you’ve shared on your blog— thank you!!!

    1. Yes. Joette says 6C can be substituted, even 30c in a pinch until you can get 3C or 6c. Watch her live FB vlog every Monday if you can. Great info!

  5. I took the first line Banerji protocol, Sulphur 200C & Nux 30. Hemorrhoids are mainly a result of venous stasis from a stagnant liver. Interestingly enough, after using this combo for 3 months my cholesterol dropped a whopping 40 points! And yes, it was a good thing.

  6. Make sure its hemorrhoids. I thought that was an issue but decided to get it checked out before incorporating a protocol and that was not the issue. Fissures need to be considered if you are not sure before starting a protocol.

  7. So glad to hear this helps varicose veins, and wondering if this is a good choice for pregnancy-induced varicose veins

  8. Please tell how to make a iquid doses from alcohol based 15 ml Hamamelis Virginiana purchased from Dr. Reckeweg.

  9. Please tell how to make liquid doses from alcohol based 15 ml Hamamelis Virginiana purchased from Dr. Reckeweg.

  10. When taking hamamelis virginians for varicose veins, does it reduce existing varicose veins? Or just prevent more from forming? And for how long should the protocol be used?

  11. I have a friend who read this blog and is ready to try the remedies! We both noticed that this is also the BP for hemangioma and were hoping to ascertain that it is indeed correct for hemorrhoids before she purchases the remedies. (J., from April 8th, did you ever find an answer or try the protocol with success?)

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na)

Its the protocol for vascular issues.

I don’t write about methods that are ineffective and that I have no experience/success with.

  12. kindly share whether this protocol has no adverse reaction during lactation.

I am facing external protruding piles like grapes bunch from 2nd trimester onwards. I am suffering from chronic constipation as well.

    Many thanks for your reply.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na)

The number of drops or pills that comprise a dose is printed on the side of the bottle.

  13. Since in the comments it is stated that this hemorrhoid remedy also works for varicose veins during pregnancy (yay!), I was wondering if Arnica 4C is close enough to 3C that it can be used for this protocol. Washington Homeopathics’ lowest potency is 4C and I find they are the most economical. Thanks for letting me know!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na)

I can’t say whether Arnica 4C will act in the same fashion as I’ve never tried it.

If you’re a client or student of mine, contact OHM Pharmacy. They carry all the remedies and combos that I teach.

  14. Your article recommends taking Hamamelis virginiana 200C and Arnica montana 3C twice s day, but Boron’s instructions say to take five pellets of each remedy three times a day. What should the user do.

  15. So I’m confused. Does this remove hemmroids or just help with pain and itching? There is zero pain or itching present! They are just there…..what protocol removes them completely????

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na)

Homeopathy doesn’t treat symptoms. Its aim is to uproot conditions, depending on the severity and the person’s ability to move a condition along.

Having said this, if there’s no suffering, I’m not sure why it would matter.

  16. If hamamelis 200+ arnica 3 is tbe BP for vascular issues, would it be appropriate to use to develop bilateral circulation after a leg vein ablation or contraindicated? Is there a remedy for developing collateral circulation?

      1. I should have read this first, after an angioplasty is it safe to continue hamamelis 200+ arnica 3 as recommended by Banerji, if you are taking allopathic drugs. Thanks Joette, good luck with your ablation surgery Linda

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na)

Hee’s the problem: Given the climate of the world today, I can’t tell you that anything, in particular, is safe. That’s why I encourage folks to not count on my blog for the entirety of their knowledge and instead study my online courses.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na)

Piles and hemorrhoids are the same and I’ve covered constipation here on my blog.

  17. Mrs. Calabrese,

Since this protocol is for vascular conditions, would it be useful during a heart attack?

    Thank you & Blessings.

  18. Hello Joette,
I just need some confimation, is it safe to take these homeopathic remedies whilst taking allopathic medicine, google is hopeless. We used to hamamellis 200c and arnica 3c for varicose veins, now they have added allopathic drugs to the mix I am uncertain whether its safe to continue.

  19. Do you have any experience with AESCULUS HIPP. and hemorrhoids? Mine are prolapsed and largish, and since horse chestnut is a treatment for enlarged veins, I’m assuming this makes some sense? Thanks for any help!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH

Yes, it’s a very good medicine for hemorrhoids. It’s usually my 2nd choice when Ham/Arn doesn’t act.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH

I can’t offer specific answers without knowing your case. What I can suggest however is that you join one of my Gateway to Homeopathy study groups, read my blogs or take my online course Feminopathy.
I”m all about teaching mothers to learn how to use homeopathy.
You’ll need it through the labor, delivery, afterbirth, caring for the baby, etc

  20. Mrs. Calabrese,

Do you find that hemorrhoids need 8 weeks or longer to resolve with Homeopathy or do you look for results faster than 8 weeks generally?

    Thank you,
    ~ Rachel

  21. Could this protocol be used in an instance when the hemorrhoids are small and not painful, and just hardly noticeable, except they make wiping very difficult and so lead to constant UTIs?
    Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH

We use homeopathic medicines for pathologies.
      Constant UTIs as a result?
      Sounds unlikely.
The medicines you ought to be studying are those for UTIs.

  22. Oh yes, per your treasured blog posts, I use Cantharis 30 every time, and the UTIs go away very quickly. (Sometimes the pain is gone within minutes!) The UTIs just keep coming back for apparently no reason, and so I am trying to figure out why so…

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH

We don’t worry about the why’s. Instead, we simply use the medicine that works. If symptoms return so should the medicine.

  23. I’ve been using the this protocol for hemorrhoids AND chilblains/ raynaud’s. It’s not really helping the hemorrhoids but does help prevent chilblains…or they don’t get as bad when they happen. Can I continue indefinitely? I’ve been taking for over a year. Not sure if it’s ok to stay on a protocol super long term?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH

Homeopathic medicines may be taken long-term but only if needed. I can’t comment on how long you personally ought to take it.

  24. Can you please consider a blog on fissures? I tried searching your website to see if you’ve already done one and couldn’t find anything. Thank you!! ❤️

  25. I just ordered both Arnica 3C and Hammemelis 200C and looking forward to trying these. Fairly desperate with what are probably Stage 4 hemms. But just noticed in the Boericke Materia Medica and elsewhere that Arnica antidotes Hammemelis! Assuming that this protocol “supercedes” this other information, per your experience.

    Thanks so much for clarifying!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, PHom M

      Fascinating isn’t it?
That’s precisely what it does, yet its a crackerjack combination.

      1. Joette, thank you so much for getting back so soon! “Crackerjack combination” sounds great…and blessings to you for your help to so many!

  26. Hello again, Joette. This combo has really seemed to help, for the most part, with the pain and prostration (exhaustion has been a big part of these chronic hemms), but bleeding is still with me every day. Getting checked for anemia in a couple weeks, but wondering if there is something to augment the protocol with in the meantime.

  27. Would add that the hemms really picked up (even more) after emergency gall bladder removal last year — wondering if the liver’s had a part in it.

    1. Don’t know if my previous comment this morning came through…was helped by the Hamemelis and Arnica generally for pain and prostration (exhaustion being a large component of these hemms) but am still experiencing a fair amount of bleeding. Pending a test for anemia late next week, wondering if there’s anything else I can or should add to this protocol. Thanks! Claudia

  28. I’ve suffered from DVTs during the postpartum period of my last two births. Just found out I’m expecting again! Will those protocol also prevent clots from forming? How soon should I start taking it? I’m 9 weeks. Thx!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, PHom M

I can’t predict what a medicine will do. I can only teach which medicine is associated with which condition. Nor can I advise you what you ought to do.
But I urge you to take my course titled Feminopathy found here:
      https://joetteslearningcenter.com/feminopathy-info-new/
It covers female conditions so you have a deeper understanding of how and when homeopathic medicines ought to be used during pregnancy, postpartum, etc.
