Howdy folks! Buster, the Bad Office Dog, here with some of my farm friends.

I’m a short little fellow, so they seem very tall and imposing to me. But, I’m told they really are as sweet and loveable as I am! Here’s a wonderful story of how homeopathy helped one of my friends as she traveled down a very bumpy road.

Its also an opportunity for me to explain how my mom (Joette) teaches folks how to move from one medicine to another. Only if needed, mind you.

Herding cows into a cattle trailer and moving them down the road to another pasture are activities most farmers are accustomed to, but not so for our four-legged friends.

One morning, Suzie’s small herd of cattle needed to be moved into the cattle trailer. And, off they went down some very bumpy roads.

Upon arrival at the new pasture, Suzie was on hand to observe the unloading of her family’s cows. She saw each one gingerly step off the trailer and excitedly explore their new green grass. Everyone seemed to have survived the trip just fine.

However, that evening things got — like the roads — a little bumpy. After a hard day’s work on the farm, the family was just about to head out to enjoy a musical concert and meal together when Suzie noticed out of the side of her vision that something was not right with Sunflower, one of the young heifers.

She was not walking right; in fact, she was lame in one of her front legs.

Suzie and her family were well equipped to handle this type of emergency since they had all studied and taken my mom Joette’s class, The Survivalist’s Guide to Homeopathy.

Suzie immediately grabbed her aqueous solution of Arnica from the refrigerator (where she keeps it for exactly these kinds of emergencies) and headed out to administer it to Sunflower.

On the way to the pasture, she put a few pellets of feed in her pocket in case a bribe was needed. As Suzie approached little Sunflower, she sprayed a feed pellet heavily with Arnica. Sunflower eagerly gobbled up not only this pellet but all the medicated pellets from Suzie’s hand.

Just for insurance, Suzie gently sprayed Sunflower’s muzzle with the aqueous solution in the little spray bottle. Satisfied she had gotten a good dose, Suzie returned to the house.

As the family was heading out of the driveway a few minutes later, they noticed Sunflower had laid down in a nice, quiet spot in the pasture. The family let out a sigh of relief knowing that whatever was wrong with the leg, Sunflower could at least bend it.

(Cattle spend much time grazing on grasses and lay down when chewing their cud. They are designed to bend their front legs underneath them as they go down and get up.)

By the next morning, Sunflower was able to bring the leg forward instead of dragging it, but she was exhibiting the classic “rusty gate” phenomenon of Rhus Tox – slow movement at first that limbers up with additional movement.

So, Suzie added Rhus Tox 30C to the Arnica 200C in the water solution and sprayed Sunflower’s nose twice a day for several days. This combination worked well to address the initial swelling and inflammation she was showing.

About five days later, Sunflower’s improvement seemed to have come to a halt, as she was still not putting any weight on the injured leg. Time to retake the case!

Suzie remembered that Joette had written about a similar injury right here on my very own blog. A few computer keystrokes later and up popped the article, “From Tendon, Bone and Cartilage Problems to Healing with Homeopathy. The information Suzie read about my torn meniscus matched the symptoms of what she was observing in Sunflower. Taking her cue from these symptoms, Suzie switched to Symphytum 200C twice a day.

A few days passed, and Sunflower was moving the leg normally and putting weight on it again. Sunflower’s regimen continued until Suzie saw her running and playing with her best friend, another young heifer.

We all have bumpy roads in life that homeopathy can help make smoother. This case certainly has a happy ending, as Sunflower is once again freely roaming her new and greener pastures.

Your Pal,

Buster

I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.

Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.

Homeopathy doesn't "treat" an illness; it addresses the entire person as a matter of wholeness that is an educational process, not a medical one. Joette believes that the advice and diagnosis of a physician is often in order.

I have a cat that has an ear infection I would like to know if there was a homeopathic remedy for that

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Use the words “Joette Calabrese Ear Infections” in your search engine. No matter if its a cat, a chimpanzee or a human; the medicines act in the same way.

    Hi Joette,
I really enjoy reading your posts! I use the above mentioned remedies on my older horse. For larger animals, it’s best to start with 1M potency. I don’t live close, so I’m only at the barn once a day. So after I determine what she might need, I throw a few 1M pellets into her water buckets, and in her grain.

How much and how long to use the arnica for my dog with a torn acl?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Just like any medicine, homeopathy is used until it is no longer needed. If the symptoms return after halting its use, it means its time to take it up again.

  8. Ellen Zimmermann says:

You always seem to know what my current problem is. March 7 I fell and both knees hit the cement. I took your dog’s suggestion and now I can walk without pain.

  9. Elizabeth Smith says:

I’m wondering what to try on my dog, his back legs are weak and he has trouble standing and cannot go up stairs anymore, hes older, but one day he was just unable to run/climb. Poor boy!

    1. Laurie says:

      Hi Elizabeth,

Someone in our Gateway group found that someone she knew had phenomenal success with Causticum 200. Here is the story and hope it helps.

“I was researching remedies and decided to try Causticum 200 for my dog. This morning she was so weak we had to hoist her up and move her outside. Within 3 minutes of the first dose of Causticum 200, she stood on her own, walked into the kitchen, and broke into the dog food bag! In addition to melancholy, she has horny warts that bleed (especially on her face and eyelids), so I thought it might be a good choice. Causticum is used for canine paralysis, especially in the hind legs.
Her eyes are bright and she’s walking everywhere! Causticum also is good for respiratory issues. We suspected congestive heart failure. Kimball is not having trouble breathing. She has energy!”

      A day or so later:

“This morning Kimball’s breathing is slow, deep, and steady. Her legs and body are relaxed, and her belly isn’t as swollen. I haven’t seen her look like this in months! Thank God for homeopathy!”

And a few days after that:

“Causticum is astonishing! The huge horny wart-like growths on our dog are shrinking. They are about 1/3 what they were. She continues to breathe easily and can move and walk much better. Swelling is down too.”

    Dear Joette,
Do you have any experience with laminitis in horses? I am currently struggling with my gelding. He’s had it all year and I worked with a vet who was no help at all, so now I’m trying homeopathy on my own. I tried arnica (30x 1 pill every hour) and he seemed to get a little better. Then I switched to nux vomica (30x 1 pill thrice a day) because from what I read that was supposed to be given when laminitis occurs from overeating on lush green pasture. This immediately made him MUCH worse and nothing has seemed to help him since. It was not an aggravation, as he did not improve over 2-3 wks. I returned to giving him arnica, which had no effect. I purchased the book, Homeopathy for horses by Tim Couzens. The constitutional remedy that fitted my horse almost exactly was Pulsatilla. I have given him 1M once a week for 3 weeks with no effect. I am very careful not to antidote the remedy in any way, though I have to touch the remedy to give it to him. He cannot be ridden and is visibly lame, but can still do his normal activities. I would so appreciate your take on this! Thank you.

    1. Jan Cook says:

I just came across this article and saw your question.
I use a homeopathic veterinary ebook book, “Fast Forward to the Cure,” by Lorelei Whitney M.H., C.HOM, D.I.Hom., http://www.petremedycharts.com. It is very detailed, and I reference her book frequently for my animals. In it she gives advice on multiple species of animals, horses included. I did a quick search through the book and found 11 matches for laminitis. If you have not already been able to heal your horse, perhaps you might find some help in her book. My best wishes to you and your horse.

i’m giving my dog kali bic for her sinus. should i be giving only 2 pellets or the 4? i’m giving 2 doses a day, for 1 week. waiting a week and going from there.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The number of pills that comprise a dose is printed on the bottle.

  12. barb says:

i was giving kali bic for my dog. 4 pellets now. but, what results am i looking for? does it dry up the sinus so no more cough? or does the cough keep going to get all the ‘gunk’ out? i was told ( not joette) to use 30c 2x/day, wait a week to see how it’s going. now even more coughing. should i go to 200c and if so, how often?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

You’re looking for a resolution of the condition and I urge those who are rather new to stick with 30th potency unless following a specific protocol. Watch for if the condition worsens. If it does, it means it’s the wrong medicine.

  13. Sarika Sonu says:

it is a bit difficult to understand how somebody can be so loving and kind and treat all kind of animals even cows and pigs ect, but encourage the eating of meat. this is somehow contradictory. these animals feel as much pain and misery as we do, only they cannot talk and complain about it. In India most people are vegetarians for life. they eat milk and cheese and milk products but no eggs or meat and yet, I have seen that most, of those who follow this vegetarian diet, have never gone to any doctor all of their life. so, meat is really not a necessary part of life. And then, why hurt or harm those poor animals. I felt I had to say my part since I was reading the part about the Western Price diet, which advocates the eating of lots of meat. something totally contradictory for those who want to help and heal animals of all kinds.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

The Weston Price Foundation embraces the inclusion of animal products which also considers a lacto-ovo diet a good option. If anything can be learned from this dietary philosophy it’s that a plant-only diet isn’t sufficient for optimal health and the industrialization of food is unacceptable. Also key in the WAPF philosophy is the importance of supporting family farms where chickens run free, cows are fully pastured and food preparation is traditional.

  14. Sarika Sonu says:

I understand what you say. but even though the chickens run free and the cows are fully pastured, one still needs to kill them and therefore cause pain and suffering to them so the meat supply can be kept up. Even cows and all the other largest and heaviest animals are vegetarians. I do not talk about veganism or a 100% plant only diet, as I believe that milk, butter and milk products in all its forms are important for good health. I am just saying that if one is so kind and caring like you are, trying to heal suffering animals with homeopathy, like you do, believing them to also feel pain and sickness, then, why even think of causing pain to them by killing them for meat. This is contradictory. if not us, then, Somebody kills them so meat is available. You are such a loving person and help so many people, then, why believe in harming animals for food, even if they run free or are pastured. That was my only point, which is hard to understand. In North/east of India, the people are strong and tall and have a great stamina, and yet, they never touched any meat or egg or fish in their life and have only eaten a purely lacto-vegetarian diet all of their life. They also thrive and are healthy without animal products. But I understand the companies whether they are commercial or organic, whose livelihood depends on meat production wouldn’t want their thriving business to fail.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

      I think you misunderstood me.
Cows and/or goats that are treated like family members and their milk for cream, cheese, butter, yogurt. Also, their manure for the garden.
Chickens for eggs and keeping the bugs down.
      Bees for honey.
This is how my family and I lived for years. We never killed our animals and they all had names.
But we as humans really must eat something from animals, not unlike those you refer to.

  15. Danika says:

    hi Joette,
My old cat had sudden paralysis in her back legs and collapsed. After a few minutes she returned. what would you suggest for this issue? Could she have had a reaction to the Psorinum 30c i am giving her for fleas?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

Any homeopathic medicine can cause a proving if it’s being used injudiciously, that is, if used too long, etc.

      1. Danika says:

I haven’t been giving her Psorinum long. But I was more concerned she may be too old and it too harsh on her fragile body. Do you have any information on what this type of paralysis could be? Any experience?
Your knowledge is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

I teach that any time a new symptom arises, look to what is being administered. Often the extrinsic is the culprit, even if it’s homeopathic.
