Baby Is Born, but You’re Not Done Yet! Neither is Homeopathy

Your baby is here. But you’re not done.

Next is the placenta as part of the afterbirth.

Usually, this takes place anywhere from a few minutes to half an hour after your baby makes his way into the family.

But sometimes, the uterus just may lose its inertia, and the delivery of the placenta can be delayed. This can be dangerous. If the placenta doesn’t present correctly, hemorrhaging can occur.

Just when you thought it was safe to put away your Caulophyllum — it’s time to bring it back!

I remember years ago — it was my third year in practice — I received the most mysterious phone call.

“You’ve got to get over here right away!” a barely audible voice whispered on the other end.

“Well, of course … but … who IS this?” I said!

It happened to be a local midwife who was quite familiar with my educational work with homeopathy and wanted my advice. She was caring for a new mother who had just given birth at home.

It was an uneventful delivery. The baby was healthy and fine.

However, three hours had passed, and the mother still hadn’t delivered the placenta. I headed over immediately as I knew this could be developing into a dangerous situation.

Pitocin, an allopathic medicine which is a synthetic form of oxytocin, had already been given. Oxytocin is the natural hormone that stimulates contractions during labor.

Pitocin is sometimes given after birth to help the uterus continue to contract and eject the placenta. But, needless to say, the Pitocin was NOT working.

When I arrived, the new mother was lying on the kitchen floor. At first, I was concerned she had fainted or collapsed. Luckily, it looked worse than it was, as I soon discovered that the mom was apparently just trying to stay cool by lying on the kitchen flooring.

Four hours had now passed since the birth.

The midwife had tried in vain to coax the mother to go to the hospital, as this was progressing into a more and more urgent situation as time continued to pass. But the mom was having none of it.

She exhibited not just garden-variety stubbornness, but incredibly intense stubbornness! She was NOT going to the hospital. End. Of. Story.

I discussed with the midwife that Caulophyllum is the appropriate protocol for a delay in placental delivery, especially given the display of overwhelming obstinacy. As you know, I am not a physician, so I cannot administer medication.

But the highly trained and licensed midwife agreed and administered Caulophyllum 200.

I looked at the clock.

Within THREE minutes, the placenta delivered. THREE minutes.

Caulophyllum 200 was completely successful at moving along the inertia of her uterus. A small homeopathic nudge triggered the body’s natural response for the uterus to contract once again and deliver the placenta intact.

Finally, after hours of concern, the mother and baby could both enjoy the beginning of their lives together.

Homeopathy protected the mother and baby from a potentially dangerous condition. And with only one dose.

If that dose had not acted, however, another and then another would be called for; perhaps every 30 minutes or so, given the gravity of this particular situation.

I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.

Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.

Hi Joette, thanks for this article. Is this remedy appropriate for ‘sticky’ placenta? This is what my Gynae called my case

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      Very likely.

  2. Michele says:

Hi Joette, Do you have recommendations for diastasis recti abdominis (even if it has been years since the birth)? Can homeopathy help with this? I see your Feminopathy course has PID & pelvic issues, but not sure about DRA specifically… Thank you; love this blog and have recommended it many times. Michele

DRA is not covered in m my courses. I’d have to take the case personally.

  3. Miranda says:

Hi Joette, would Caulophyllum be used after the placenta is delivered. If you are passing large clots and the body is having a hard time “clamping down” and controlling the postpartum bleeding – but not quiet hemorrhaging? Or would a different remedy suit better? Thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Caulophyllum is certainly one of the more important ones to consider. Also Arnica, Phosphorus come to mind.

Your post was one I had researched during my pregnancy this year to create my own “repertory” of remedies to take during my labor and delivery.
And I am so thankful. My homebirth turned into a hospital birth and despite the nurse,, 2 OB’s, and the ultrasound tech’s best efforts my placenta would not detach. Told my husband to check my notes on placenta and he gave me caulophyllum. After 45 minutes of trying to get my placenta to detach it came out moments after taking the remedy. The doctor was shocked and asked me what I took, how did I know what to take, what was it exactly…. and the nurse later came to see me during recovery to get the remedy information because she had told the other nurses what had happened and the other nurses wanted to look into it as well.
Sometimes God puts us in places we don’t want to be to show there are other options. They are now looking at homeopathy in a different light

      Smart mom.
      Good husband.
      Perfect medicine.
I couldn’t be happier for you.

    2. Lynne says:

Woo hoo, great stuff, glad they have real proof Homeopathy WORKS

  5. Dee F says:

Is there a remedy for a child that has suffered side effects of Pitocin years after birth even such as lack of bonding, low empathy, ect?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, PHom M says:

Lack of bonding, empathy etc are symptoms that can be addressed via homeopathy as well as ailments from drugs but I don’t know a specific protocol to that combination.
To get to the essence of your question you might want to nose around in the repertory.
