Frequently, my clients ask me how and when to avoid mint while they’re using homeopathic remedies. If you’ve ever had minty questions, I hope you, too, will benefit from my thoughts on the matter.
Because some people are more sensitive to this refreshing herb than others, I like to recommend that you avoid it entirely, until you know for certain that mint isn’t an antidote for you.
But let’s get a little more specific with one recent question: “If I’m taking a dose once every 2 weeks indefinitely, do I need to stay away from mint the entire time?”
My answer is both “Yes” and “No”.
If mint is an antidote for you then yes, avoid it; however, some people have no problem with it. If you're seeing improvement as a result of the remedy/ies, then try mint and see if it has an effect. If not, then go ahead and use mint.
Sometimes, just a little mint will not antidote, while a larger amount will.
If you’re trying to avoid mint and can’t find mint-free toothpaste, how ‘bout trying my homemade, mint-free tooth powder? I bet you won’t even miss the old stuff.
I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.

Thanks for the info! I tried my own tooth powder and thought the cinnamon flavor was really good, so thanks!
I, too, like the tooth powder. However, I find it too abrasive unless I grind the mixture, or at least the baking soda, in a blender, food processor or coffee grinder first.
thanks!
I have wondered if mint was like coffee. I’ve read that if you’re a regular coffee drinker, you can still drink coffee while taking remedies. It doesn’t antidote as it would for someone who drinks coffee only occasionally. Could the same be said if that person is a regular mint tea drinker? Or regularly uses peppermint essential oil for exercise? When I began using cell salts, I
discontinued using the peppermint oil so much, just in case.
Even though many of us regularly use mint-flavored products (lip balms, toothpastes, mouth rinses, teas, etc), it is still best to try and avoid these as much as possible while using homeopathic remedies. This is a good rule of thumb unless you’ve found that mint is not an antidote for you.
how do you know if mint is an antidote ? Ive never been able to work this out !!!!
I am trying to cure a tooth abcess without using strong anti bacterials in my mouth as im also taking a remedy .. but I cannot find anything without either tea tree in or mint flavour .. so Im stumped and its so annying, as sometimes you need a bit of both worlds to cure something naturally . Otherwise I might end up on antibiotics
I trust my medicines and don’t look to other methods.
If the condition is sobering enough, we don’t take a chance of potentially interfering with its action by using a substantial amount of mint.
Hi there, I was trying to order one of your books but it wouldn’t go through? I am from Canada is that why?
Thanks
Now does the mint rule still apply if one is taking cel salts everyday 2-3x/day?
Yes, Lisa. It’s still best to avoid mint while using cell salt remedies, too.
I am really looking for it, my friend is doing that homeopathic but she always eats candies that have mint in the ingredients. I am thinking if it’s alright if she do it. Your thoughts will help me to explain to my friend that somehow she should avoid mint. Thanks, such a great help from you.
I’m glad it was a help and thank you for your input!
how long will it take if you eat mint before you can start your homeopath again 24 hrs more or less
You might be able to use it within 30 minutes depending on how susceptible you are to mint and how much of it you’ve taken.
thank you,you are such a good person you answer all my questions so fast I really what to thank you
You’re welcome, Barb.
