There was a time when we did as we were told. We listened to our parents, teachers, and authority in all its faces and adhered to the rules of the day. As youngsters it was an appropriate and accepted way of conduct.
Today, much of what we were taught has been turned upside down. The voice of today’s society rings of topsy-turvy counsel. Instead of work first and play later, our world entreats us to play first.
Instead of buying a home that we can afford, we’re encouraged to borrow beyond our means. Instead of firm discipline in the home, we’re directed by faddish psycho-babble to give our kids “space” and privacy.
I say it’s time to turn back the clock…or perhaps swing it forward. Whatever the direction, it’s time we take back control of our lives and use common horse sense.
For example, does it make sense to get a flu shot that may be made from the wrong strain?
This is a frequent occurrence. Since the epidemiologists do not know which strain is forthcoming each flu season, they make a soup of the latest microorganisms. Then it’s injected directly into the bloodstream.
Interestingly, many who are vaccinated get the flu anyway—either in spite of or perhaps because of the vaccine itself.
And, what about the connection between the flu shot and muscle pain? It has been clinically noted that when healthy patients yield to flu shots in autumn, they succumb to fibromyalgia by winter or spring.
Fibromyalgia is one of the symptoms of the flu!
Remember the achy joints and bones that come with the flu? That’s fibromyalgia. The short-lived achiness that accompanies the flu becomes a full-fledged chronic condition when the immune system is tampered with as it is with a vaccine.
Indeed, I think we’ve lost perspective.
Why not simply take a gentle homeopathic remedy that works better and more delicately and politely on the system?
Consider Oscillococcinum (pronounced: oh-sill-oh-cock-sign-um). It happens to be the #1 over-the-counter and prescription medication in France—a place where homeopathy is highly regarded by the medical profession as well as by lay people.
But the reason for its popularity is simple–it works.
Oscillococcinum is made from the heart and liver of a waterfowl, and is particularly useful for the onset of colds and flu that come on in the wet season, such as in fall or spring.
If taken at the onset of a cold, it will usually stop it dead in its tracks.
But here is the best part: if taken as a prophylactic, say, once per week for four weeks and then once each month until the flu season is over, it will usually protect you and your family from the flu.
If indeed the person still gets a cold or flu after taking this remedy, it will often ensure a much milder episode.
This is rational medicine.
No drugs.
No side effects.
No questionable ingredients.
Do you need another reason to take this remedy?
How about a cost of less than $19?
I certainly wouldn’t want to dictate what you ought to do for the upcoming season.
That would put me in the same category as proselytizing drug manufacturers. However, this little lesson may just convince the staunchest advocates of modern medicine of the power of homeopathy.
Consider each and decide for yourself.
Drugs or homeopathy?
For my clients, family and me, the decision is straightforward– homeopathy for gentler, more capable results.

I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.
Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.
Joette is not a physician and the relationship between Joette and her clients is not of prescriber and patient, but as educator and client. It is fully the client's choice whether or not to take advantage of the information Joette presents. Homeopathy doesn't "treat" an illness; it addresses the entire person as a matter of wholeness that is an educational process, not a medical one. Joette believes that the advice and diagnosis of a physician is often in order.

Joette ~ Marvelous refrain to peak some interest in taking a safer approach to seasonal flu and colds. The science keeps adding up the benefits of homeopathy, folk remedies, vitamin D3 sunshine, vitamin C and good nutrition. I really loved doing the Health Inn Show with you. Blessings, Debby
thanks for inviting me! I’ve listened to your show for some time now and ever since meeting at the conference at Daemen, i was interested in working with you.A hug, Joette
Oh, there’s even more than this turned upside down. But , thank you so much!
Would you recommend this in a 30th potency, Joette? I want to order some today to have on hand, just in case.
Found some made by Boiron at my local health food store.
Yes, it is made by Boiron and just comes in one strength.
Yes – it seems we are all funneled towards simple, quick and mindless these days. I know that for me it certainly is tempting to not have to think, right? But, there are so many real risks with that! It’s time we all turn our brains back on, put our engines into gear and be the safest, smartest people we can be!
“Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth.” Albert Einstein – great article!
It’s funny that I got this post email on the same day as an email from my vet to vaccinate my dog against a canine flu. So, do you think this could also work for them? (btw, my mom always got flu vaccines every year and she always came down with it every year anyways.)
Flu in dogs? Never heard of it so if it’s that unknown, why take a chance with a vaccine? Vaccines generate their own new diseases. Mom should do a bit of homework before succumbing again.
Can children as young as 1 and 4 take it?
Yes, Nicole. Homeopathy is safe and effective for babies, children, and pregnant women.
Homeopathic remedies are safe for pregnancy, newborns and the elderly. the reason they’re so gentle is that they are highly dilute. In fact, I can’t image having raised my babies without them. As long as homeoapthics are used properly, (according to directions), I teach moms to count on them for most childhood issues.
Help, I’ve been informed and I can’t bemcoe ignorant.
A few years back I read an article you wrote for the “Wise Traditions” journal in which you recommended a protocol of the Influenzinum homeopathic remedy as a prophylactic measure to be taken before & during flu season. In your experience, is the Influenzimum or Oscillococcinum of equal efficacy, or do you recommend one more than the other as a prophylactic approach to the flu? Can both be taken simultaneously (but on different days) to reinforce one’s immune system during the winter flu/cold season? In joy: CJ
Influenzinum 6, 12 or 30 is generally used as a prophylactic. Oscilloccocinum is generally used once the cold or flu has established itself. the best time to use Oscillo. is in weather that’s cold and wet, such as in autumn. I’d save it for that.
If I understand correctly, Influenzinum is recommended as the prophylactic for the flu and Oscillococcinum is then used once person begins with symptoms of the flu. What about using Oscillococcinum like the French teacher’s do as a prophylactic against colds as you mentioned in “Pinworms and Colds”? Influenzinum will only cover the flu and I am wanting to arm our family against colds also. Colds keep us at home a lot throughout the winter months as they get passed back & forth in our large family. Oscillococcinum is also the same as Anas Barbarie 200C, right?
You may certainly use these remedies in a number of different ways. Many find Oscillo to be useful as a prevention, while others don’t. The only way to know is to give it a try. and yes, Oscillo is Anas barbarie
Could you tell me how to administer those little pellets of Oscillococcinum to a baby or toddler? Can they actually hold those under their tongue? BTW, we have used Oscillo. for several years and it works!
You can sprinkle them into the child’s mouth and let them dissolve or alternatively, dissolve them in a little water and administer the remedy that way.
Thanks, Joette. I don’t think I’ve ever had the flu but have some ideas now on how to prepare.
