Joette Calabrese

The road of life may hold a few lumps and bumps along the way. Unfortunately, I can’t help you there. But if lumps appear in the thyroid gland or bumps emerge on the skin, I’ve got a secret weapon.

Before I go further, I want to add a caveat. In Practical Homeopathy®, we address pathologies, not minor annoyances. Benign thyroid nodules are lumps caused by abnormal growth of thyroid cells. These benign nodules are super-common and generally don’t need to be treated. So, simply receiving a diagnosis does not necessarily require immediate action, as there is no reason to assume that they will become dangerous.

However, occasionally, thyroid nodules can become obstructive or uncomfortable. If they present in such a manner that it becomes difficult to swallow or induces frequent coughing, then that would be the time to employ a homeopathic medicine.

As I’ve said before, there’s more than one way to skin a cat in homeopathy. So, while several other medicines and protocols may be beneficial, I strictly want to talk about Thuja today.

A helpful reminder to think of for Thuja is that it’s a good “lumpy” remedy. So, Thuja would also be considered for warts, nevi (moles), skin tags, oral granuloma, uterine cysts and nasal polyps, as well as for thyroid nodules.

So, what is Thuja?

Well, believe it or not, it’s made from the plain ol’ arborvitae plant, which grows like a weed in many locales! Almost any stereotypical photograph of Italy shows arborvitae plants lining the winding roads. (Now you know why I chose this photo for the blog post!)

My husband and I generally plant them wherever we live because they’re inexpensive, grow fast, provide excellent privacy and require no maintenance. Plus, I can make my own botanical Thuja from it! (Stay tuned, my Mighties. I will tell you how I make my own botanical remedy in this coming week’s Memo to Mighty Members # 101.)

However, for the previously mentioned conditions, I have successfully employed homeopathically prepared Thuja 30, twice daily until very much better.

Now, in some clients’ estimations, it took a long period of time for the remedy to act fully. It can, indeed, take a while when using homeopathy for a chronic condition. However, a lengthy time frame does not mean that we are not moving along steadily toward our goal.

But whereas those clients’ particular thyroid conditions may have required many months, this is not necessarily true for all conditions and individuals. Other individuals have seen a vast improvement in 6–8 weeks!

One student of mine was shocked to discover a dramatic reduction of her thyroid nodules after taking Thuja 30, twice daily, for two months for another condition! That’s how sweeping this polychrest medicine is!

And just between you and me, there’s one other significant use for Thuja 30 — addressing vaccinosis (conditions resulting from vaccination). In a medical climate where so many various vaccinations are thrust upon our families — from birth until death — Thuja is a vital medicine to have in your collection.

Indeed, with this one medicine in our arsenal, we can address so many different conditions! So, perhaps purchase a few extra tubes for your loved ones and pass on the good news of homeopathy!

Warmly,

Joette Calabrese

P.S. Addressing your family’s conditions requires confidence. And confidence comes from competence!

There is no better way to begin than by joining a Gateway to Homeopathy Study Group. For far less than a doctor's visit co-pay, you’ll learn Practical Protocols® you can use as you learn.

Plus, you’ll discover how to observe the entire picture of a condition and use that observation to choose the best medicine for your unique situation.

All that while meeting like-minded friends and making new friendships that can last a lifetime!

My curriculum makes it easy to start your own group, OR you can join a group that is forming. You can find the groups starting soon at Joette's Study Group: Find Your New Study Group Friends.

I urge you to join a group today. It worked for me! Group study catapulted my abilities to care for my family decades ago.

But my office advises that you order your copy of Gateway to Homeopathy first! Due to increasing demand, it can take a few weeks to receive your study guide. So, don’t wait! Don’t let choosing your study group leader (or building your own group) become a hurdle. Get your guide and go from there.

The inexpensive cost of this curriculum will be repaid many times over with the money you’ll save on unnecessary medical visits and expensive allopathic drugs.

I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.

Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.

Had plantar wart in summer 2016. Wasn’t familiar with homeopathy and I tried to treat it myself. Saw a podiatrist, who prescribed chemo oint, but it never seem to go away, at one point even spread. After reading Joette’s blog and adding Thurs, I’m happy to say it’s completely cleared. Initially I thought it wasn’t working, because old ones seem to come back. But there was a difference and o 7bderstood that the remedy was pushing hidden warts out. I just kept it up, probably 6mos or so. Now I can say it’s gone!

  2. Ann says:

Joette, I feel giddy after reading this about Thuja! I had been taking Thuja 200 for a plantar wart that is now about gone. Had been treating it for about six months. I received treatment by a dermatologist for over a year beforehand, having it chemically burned and scraped with no results, until I found you and your practical homeopathy. 🙂 I had read that Thuja also helped thyroid nodules, which I have and they have reduced in size somewhat, so figure it was a double blessing to have that happen along with the wart. Am thinking I should switch to Thuja 30 now to complete the reduction of the thyroid nodules? Thank you so much, Joette! I just love homeopathy.

  3. sahmpaw says:

In the remedy card it says this can be used for “some moles” and “some kind of warts”. Which ones can Thuja be used for?

  4. Mary Herman says:

Wondering if Thuja would be a good choice for those crusty growths that seems to come with aging….Seborrheic Keretitis (pardon my spelling)?

  5. Jennifer says:

Is thuja 30 the proper choice for a large ganglion cyst on the wrist or small ganglions on the toes or fingers?

  6. Mary says:

This is great and funny enough I just started Thuja, but I have a multinodular goiter. This is a chronic condition for probably 7 or so years. When would I chose thuja in a 6c or a 200c? (I know you normally say those for chronic) or is there just something specific about the way the 30c works for this? I hope that makes sense. Thanks so much!

  7. Stephanie T says:

Thank you, Joette, for this excellent article. I needed this reminder as I’d taken Thuja for just a little while after reading about it in your Materia Medica. Time to start up again and let it work.

  8. Hi Joette, would you kindly let me know what homeopathic medicine(s) I should take for constant tearing of the eyes. My symptoms match with Thyroid Eye Disease symptoms and I do have Hypothyroidism.
TED can be a good subject for your future post.

    Thank you,
    Dinyar

  9. Yasmin says:

    Hello,

Would Thuja also work for toe fungus? And should 30c or 200 be used?
    Thank you

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

      It’s not specific for fungus.

  10. Lynne says:

Hi, could Thuja also be used for a fatty cyst behind my earlobe that I have had for 12years or so?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

When you want to know what to use, key in the words “Joette Calabrese Cysts” and you’ll likely find the information you’re looking for.

  11. Peggy says:

Would Thuja 30 work for my dog’s lipomas?!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

I’ve written about lipomas on this site.

  12. Karen says:

FYI when you request the remedy card, the one that gets emailed is for “anxious mind” not for Thuja.

  13. Sarah Daggett says:

I had the same issue as Karen ? /\ I requested the remedy card, but got one for an “anxious mind” instead.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

It should be corrected within the week.

  14. Charlie says:

Such an informative post! We have these trees planted along our driveway- who knew! Could this also be used on skin tags or is there another protocol for those?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

If you want to know if a particular remedy is useful for a condition, read up on it in your materia medica.
I promise you’ll get lost in it!
      It’s so fascinating.

  15. Amy says:

Joette, would this be a good place to start for any kind of cyst that’s lumpy/bumpy?

  16. Olena says:

Thank you so much for this post, Joette! You mentioned that Thuja 30 can be used for vaccinosis. When should it be taken in this case: before or after a vaccine has been administered?
    Thank you!

  17. Leslie Mills says:

In response to this article, I ordered and began taking Thuja 30C earlier this week.
I have Hashimoto’s disease with an enlarged thyroid due to nodules.
Over the last 2 days, the right side of my thyroid has become larger, tight, and tender to the touch. My neck is mildly sore/stiff, and it hurts to swallow because that side of my thyroid is so swollen.
I’m reading in other comments that Thuja can bring out underlying “lumps & bumps.” Could that be what’s happening?
    Should I continue?
    Thank you 🙏🏻

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

I’m so sorry but I can not personally advise you on this site. But having said this, any time a homeopathic medicine is used and symptoms arise shortly after, I teach that it ought to be discontinued.

  18. Kathy says:

Good morning, I have 2 issues that require 2 entirely different remedies, I was wondering if it would be appropiate to take 2 different remedies at the same time? The remedies are sepia and thuja…

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

I teach that in general 2 different protocols may be used simultaneously but I urge my students to delve deeper into learning how to do this with aplomb.
If you’re not a member of my online study group, Gateway to Homeopathy, it would behoove you to consider joining one to help you get started.

  19. Sarah says:

Does this apply to cancerous thyroid nodules or tumors? Or is that a whole different ball game?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

      It’s somewhat different.

  20. Christina Delaney says:

    Hi Joette,
Is there a banerji protocol for uterine polyps? Most western medical doctors want to immediately remove them surgically, but if it’s benign maybe they can be shrunk with homeopathy? Curious if they have a protocol for it?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

You bet. There’s a little more to it than just a protocol. I cover the protocols for this condition in my online course Feminopathy but more importantly how to manage the case once the protocols are employed.

  21. Faith says:

THANK YOU, JOETTE. I had a large lump an inch under my left eye. It looked like a big mole. It showed up about 9 months ago and started out as a flat discoloration of the skin, but a few months later it started itching terribly and it grew and grew! It became very uncomfortable — itchy and hot and red!
I tried all of my non-homeopathic tricks. I was getting desperate. My son wanted me to go to the doctor. Then this post showed up in my inbox, and I gave it a try. I started the Thuja 30 2X/day on May 31, 2022, and today June 30. 2022, the lump is GONE!! YOU’RE THE BEST!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

‘Not surprised, but delighted for you.
Pls. pass on this blog to others for help with their own conditions.
And if you’re not already a member of one of our online Gateway to Homeopathy study groups, I recommend that you join.

  22. J says:

Would this be a good fit for a child of 10 years old with a bump that appearing to be a wart in the bottom of his foot (no seed wart) along with skin peeling fo the foot? Would the dose be the same?
Also, how do we inquire about consultation with you?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

This medicine is sometimes used for warts but it’s not my 1st choice. I have however written on the subject of warts. Anytime you’re looking for a remedy for a specific condition, key into your browser my name, JoetteCalabrese and the name of the condition.
You may call or email my office for an appointment.

  23. Priya says:

Will this help with an adrenal benign adenoma that is small? Thanks

  24. Melanie says:

    Hi Joette!
I have a nodule on my thyroid; however, it has a blood supply would Thuja still be effective given the bloody supply?

  25. Carey says:

Would Thuja be appropriate for a gallbladder polyp that is .75 cm? Over 1 cm they say is strongly associated with cancer, so if it grows, they recommend removal of the gallbladder. I am “watching it” for another few months and having another ultrasound, as I would like to keep my organs, thank you! But it would be grand to have it disappear or at least shrink by then! 🙂

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

This protocol is specific for Thyroid nodules.

      1. Carey says:

        Thanks for the clarification!

  26. p says:

Hi, Would Thuja 30 work for an “increasingly itchy” mole that someone was born with–about the size of a pencil eraser but raised only about the height of a quarter?
(Itching causes pain!) It may be a nevi mole-?Or does itching require something else such as sulphur or mold remedies? (Recently mold was discovered.)
    Thank you always.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, PHom M says:

To know the full measure of a homeopathic medicine, I urge my students to read the accounting of it inside and out, from top to bottom in their materia medica.
