Plop, Plop, Fizz, Fizz

After the extravagances of past decades, we’re finally seeing a shift in thinking with regard to the use of medications. Yes, I know, every other commercial is a company pushing their newest drug. Yet, in spite of this, there is a ground swelling of those who remember life without drugs and recall a healthier world.

Take antacids for example. If we followed the TV ads we see, the magazine and newspaper ads we read, we'd be ingesting these nostrums daily. If indeed they must be ingested day after day, isn’t that cause for questioning the value of these products in the first place?

I say, it is time we consider another method. One of intelligence, efficacy, of time-tested value and purity … that is, of course, homeopathy. Why? Because it doesn’t cover up the problem, it squarely addresses it.

Homeopathy is founded on a firm rock. Its laws and principles are irrefutable, being proven in tests and clinically in hospitals, clinics, nurseries and veterinary offices throughout the world for over 200 years.

So, does homeopathy offer an antacid for the relief of overeating and drinking? You bet! Let’s examine some of homeopathy’s two best-known remedies and how to use them for a little too much at Thanksgiving or an excess of holiday cheer.

Natrum phos 6X is homeopathy’s king of antacids. Tuck a small bottle of it in your purse, diaper bag or glove compartment. Then, any time indigestion hits, toss 3-4 pills directly in the mouth. If no relief is afforded within 15 minutes or so, continue taking in the same manner. In most cases, the indigestion will be resolved within short order. Curiously and as a welcome old friend, the next episode of indigestion will often not be as severe, not last as long and will be fended off for a longer period of time. Further, the cost of these little pills is under $20 and they pack neither side effects nor additives.

Nux vomica 30X is also a remedy one can count on to be efficient and powerful, yet gentle for the relief of reflux. It is used when we have overdone a good thing…too much dip, too many drinks on New Year's Day, too much candy on Halloween. It will antidote the symptoms of heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and even irritability, as long as this cluster of symptoms matches.

Even a hangover is a thing of the past with the correct use of Nux vomica. Taken every few hours, it will offer not only relief but do so without side effects. Often the person suffering from indigestion who will benefit from Nux vomica 30X also complains of wakefulness, usually around 3:00 a.m., with the thoughts of the day dancing around in his or her head.

The materia medica of homeopathy has thousands of remedies that have been used since the late 1700s. They are as consistent today as they were when the homeopathic doctors used them then. Homeopathy is not capricious; it doesn’t declare that the latest drug is “the” solution only to have it pushed to the back of the pharmacy shelf within months or years in lieu of the newest hottest catholicon. Better yet; no homeopathic remedy has ever been withdrawn from the market due to subsequent illness that it has caused.

So when you’ve eaten too much turkey or had more than your share of wine consider homeopathy. It may not only relieve your heartburn, but also the irritability that comes from having to withstand the parade of irksome drug commercials during the football game!

I have written more in my latest Ezine. Take a look here is the link to my website where you will find my latest Ezine as well an archive of past ones. Enjoy! http://homeopathyworks.net/newsletters.cfm

I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.

Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.

Homeopathy doesn't "treat" an illness; it addresses the entire person as a matter of wholeness that is an educational process, not a medical one. Joette believes that the advice and diagnosis of a physician is often in order.

    Thank you.

Much can be learned from truthful information and honest advice, which can also hep us to be battle ready with a well-stocked arsenal of efficient weapons in peak condition for use when or if the need arises.

Th photo in the header, though nice, makes me think about a story of forbidden fruit which gives me mixed ideas about the connection.

Taking one tablespoon of a natarul apple cider vinegar can be very helpful for any heartburn and acid problems that you are having. Braggs is an especially good product, as it actually contains the natarul base that is called the mother . Braggs products can be found in most supermarkets in the natarul foods section. It can also be ordered off the Internet through Amazon, if you cannot find it where you reside. It takes some getting used to the taste, and you can stir it into a glass of water if you cannot get used to taking it straight, but you will quickly see a big difference in the amount of acid reflux and heartburn you will be getting. If it is still too bitter for your taste, you can add a bit of honey to the mix,It sounds a bit counter-intuitive, adding an acid to your diet, but this is a helpful acid. Many of the over the counter tablets or liquids actually shut down the natarul acid production in your stomach, which causes your body to be less able to correctly digest the food you are consuming; which can be more upsetting to your body than the heartburn and reflux.I initially learned about it from an older neighbor who was quite well versed in many natarul health care products and lived a long and healthy life. It has been quite helpful for my husband and myself and for a few other family members and friends as well.Good luck, I hope you give this a try and hopefully, it will work for you also.Have a good day.

Ah yes, I agree with Pam. Picture you mentioned reminds me of my younger brother when we were children. The good old days…

prevention is the most effective mhtoed I have tried. Try charting what you eat and when, and how bad the symptoms are day to day. this could tell you about the types of foods most likey to cause problems for you. also focus on when you eat. If you eat too close to bed time, you are probably setting yourself up for problems with this condition.Lastly, try putting a couple of bricks or other sturdy item under the legs of your bed on the end where your head is, creating a gentle slope from head to foot. this can help a lot. If your bed doesn’t allow for that, you can buy an inflatable wedge that slips between your matress and box spring. Getting your head and chest elevated a bit while you sleep can help. Also, there are over the counter medications, but you asked for natural, so what’s more natural than prevention?

Sounds to be a positive memory. Something precious & cherished.

For some reason, it makes me think of Narnia.

Everytime we go in with anything he says how he had it or has it too. So tired of ths guessing and trying. Other 12 year old was perscribed topamax for constant constant(daily) headaches. What you’re asking me to do is to take your child’s case and I can’t do that on a blog. SHould you be interested in meeting with me to see if you’d like to work with me, you may contact my office.

  6. Vickie says:

I think I have a hiatial hernia. Where would I look to find info on what remedy/remedies I should try (or maybe this is not something homeopathy is for?). Also, my husband has toe fungus and has tried all kinds of things to get rid of it. He thinks it is like a broken bone and homeopathy will not work. I’m brand new to this and I’m not sure where to look for how to try and treat these two things.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Use the search bar on this blog and be sure to use synonyms if you don’t find the info. readily. I believe I’ve written about each of these.

  7. April Martella says:

I know this is an old blog post, but does this article apply to LPR (silent reflux) also?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      yes

  8. Rachel says:

    Mrs. Calabrese,

Is it acceptable to take both Nux vomica & Nat phos for the same episode?

My understanding is that cell salts can be added as a compliment alongside any protocol. If this true, perhaps a dose of Nux, and while you are waiting for relief, several doses of Nat phos?

    Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I often use more than one medicine in the same schedule for the same condition.

  9. Rachel says:

Thank you very much! It is very good of you to so promptly & consistently answer folks in this form. I am most grateful.

  10. Melissa says:

Would this also work on a puking newborn? After nursing he pukes up two breasts worth of milk and it’s very discouraging for mom. Thanks.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, PHom M says:

Homeopathics are medicines that can be used for newborns, children, teens, adults, the elderly, pets, wildlife, etc.
If you read the article carefully you’ll pickup on the hint I offer regarding those who wear diapers.
