What to do when confronted with a bee sting?

Turn to Ledum  & Apis*-these are premier bee sting remedies. If there’s coldness to the site, but ironically, the stung area feels better with cold, look to Ledum 30. The protocol is to give one dose, every 1-2 hours, until improvement or for up to 3 days.

Apis, on the other hand, is perfect for stung areas that are warm to the touch, burning, red and swollen.  The swelling might also be edematous and remote.  That is, if the sing is on the foot, the ears may swell. Try 1 dose every 1-2 hours, until improvement or for up to 3 days.

You may also administer two cell salts: Ferr phos 6x and Kali mur 6x, every 1- 2 hours, until improvement. Use these on alternating hours from Ledum or Apis.

Remember, if the reaction is severe or if there is anaphylaxis, seek medical care immediately. Along the way, administer the appropriate remedy.  Generally, Apis in a high potency is best suited for allergic reactions.

*Pregnant women in the first trimester should not take Apis repeatedly.

I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.

Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.

Homeopathy doesn't "treat" an illness; it addresses the entire person as a matter of wholeness that is an educational process, not a medical one. Joette believes that the advice and diagnosis of a physician is often in order.

So glad you posted this-my friend’s son just got stung- I told her apis was a good choice-thanks for confirming this, joette!!

  2. Pam says:

Best to not get stung, but it if happens, having good options for dealing with the issue can be quite helpful,

    so…

    thank you.

There is a little further explanation here adding to what is in your nicely done chart linked in your newsletter. Clarifies some questions.

  3. Hannah says:

My mother always used to put a white paste all over our bee stings when I was younger. It wasn’t until recently that I found out it was baking soda & water mixed together as a paste! So simple & right from the kitchen!

Glad to learn now — that I have a Homeopathic means to care for my stings too! Thanks for sharing!

  4. megan says:

being very allergic i was told to do that paste with meet tenderizer. don’t know if it helped. always just took benadril or such. Have just gotten 200c apis for hubby who is worse with it. told him take it and was going to say and head for H but he said it before I could. lol need to get me some as soon as store gets more.

  5. Carla says:

Does this work for wasp stings? My son is allergic.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

It’s specific for stings of all insects. Allergic reactions might need to be approached from a more personalized approach. I cover this fully in my course “Allergic!”

  6. Rachel says:

    Mrs. Calabrese,

I have heard that Apis is not to be used in pregnancy at all, and some say it’s okay but dangerous in certain potencies… is there any truth to these statements?

    Thank you again!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Yes, it can cause trouble in pregnancy if not used properly.

  7. Rachel says:

    Thank you Mrs. Calabrese.

Do you have any plans for courses specific to proper usage of homeopathy in pregnancy & childbirth? The links to access the syllabus for your Feminopathy course seem to be down so I couldn’t check if this is covered there.

Is there anything then to help a pregnant woman in anaphylaxis as you drive to the hospital… perhaps Carbolic acid 200 instead or in this extreme situation, is Apis 200, 1M or 10M okay to use?

Thank you every so much for helping us all be prepared!

  8. Helen Jonas says:

Is the Ferr phos 6x and Kali mur 6x, every 1- 2 hours dosed at the same time or alternating every 1 to 2 hours with Kali Mur and Apis?

  9. Lauren says:

    Hi Joette,
I’m here wondering about jelly fish stings. I understand a sting is a sting. But my questions are, is it different that we’d be dealing with venom in that form opposed to a small insect sting?
And with certain jelly fish come with higher risks, would you ever recommend going straight to a 1m? I would administer Aconite immediately also. But again, wondering about the 1M

Lastly, if possible to obtain said creature, could a tincture be made from it like we can for ticks? Far fetched but my curious mind wants to know.

    Thanks Joette!!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

We chose the medicine that most aptly suits the symptoms. Some jellyfish cause hives while others cause a rash, etc.
It’s fine to use 1M but it may not be it’s necessary. More often than not, 200 potency or even lower will act as long as it’s used frequently.
And yes, a tincture and subsequent potencies may be derived from the jellyfish to be used concurrently with say Urtica urens or Apis, etc.
For more details on how to address these kinds of conditions, consider my Survivalist Guide to Homeopathy https://survivalmedicine.joettecalabrese.com/

  10. Vicka says:

I’m curious why Apis is not to be used repeatedly in the first trimester of pregnancy. I read in the Materea Medica that Apis was a good remedy for preventing miscarriage. I also took it regularly in my first trimester to help take care of urine retention. It worked for me, but I’m hoping it didn’t have any I’ll affects. (I am in my 3rd trimester now and baby looks good.)

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, PHom M says:

Apis is an excellent remedy for urine retention as well as many other conditions during pregancny. The concern with offering information in homeopathy to the general public is that some folks have so little understnding of homeopathy that they think its like supplements hence take remedies many times per day over months and even years. Apis, like all homeopathy medicines ought to be used for specific conditions and halted once the condition is resoloved.
I urge you to consider studying homeopathy in greater depth. Its life-changing.
