I Have Coca-Cola Guilt

Nearly thirty-five years ago, I worked at NBC as an account executive. It was interesting work because I witnessed firsthand how large corporations in America function. One of my prized accounts was Pepsi Cola.

I never directly met the people from Pepsi Cola but had a working relationship with their advertising team in Chicago. This account was what we in TV media called a “bread and butter” account. That meant I counted on their regular spending on our TV station to make my monthly budget.

One Tuesday morning, I entered my office to the phone ringing. It was the rep from the Pepsi Cola team who unsympathetically and sternly stated, “Get it off the air.”

“Get what off the air?” I asked.

“Your news exposé on the detrimental effects of sugar on children’s health that ran last night. It must not run again, or we’ll pull our budget off your station and distribute it amongst the other TV stations in the market.”

Unknown to me, our news department had produced a news clip that ran the night before and was scheduled to run for four more consecutive nights as an addendum to the nightly fare.

I had only a vague idea of what the news department was running nightly, yet this advertising rep was keenly watching over her firm’s interests.

At that time in my life, I had no appreciation or concerns about nutrition, particularly in relation to children. I was not a parent, and it seemed to me that if a mom didn’t want her children to drink soda, she simply didn't buy it.

I had no understanding of how pervasive sugar, preservatives and dyes were in children’s lives. I didn't realize that it was not enough for parents to refuse to serve the stuff.

I've since learned that it’s when kids leave the home that they get into it. It’s the hockey coaches, teachers and school administrators who agree to the vending machines in the corridors, other parents at parties, and even grandparents.

My response to the call that Tuesday morning was just as the rep could have predicted. I promptly roused my sales manager.

He had more clout than even I realized, as evidenced by his purposeful stride to the other side of the building where the news manager resided. The sales manager asserted as plainly as the rep had, “Get it off the air.”

Despite the news department’s protests, my sales manager stood unyielding. He knew that he had a position of power; the sales and marketing department always trumped the news department.

The story was indeed removed from the airing schedule, and the reel with the warnings against sugar was chucked into the garbage.

Why do I tell you this story? Because by offering a solution today, I might be absolved for my past indiscretions.

I hope to make things right.

Now, as a mother, a homeopath, and an educator, I want to share with anyone who will listen a homeopathic remedy that often (though not always) aids in slowing down an over-the-top craving for sugar.

There are others that can be considered, but in my experience, I find that this is one of the best so far. It is Chelidonium 6X, taken twice daily. I learned about this little gem from the Banerjis in Calcutta, and find it to be the most effective in reducing the intensity of sugar cravings.

If this remedy helps someone in your family after using it for a few months, all I ask is that you pass it on to others.

Ok, now I’ll be able to sleep at night.

For as long as it is possible, I will give information away cheerfully and freely on this blog.

In fact, we are now going back, one blog at a time and retagging/categorizing each one, just to make the search function more effective.

I know from your comments that many of you find here just the remedy needed at just the most important moment.  So to be able to find past articles easier is a goal we are now pursuing in earnest.

For those that see the value gained in expanding your ability to cure your family yourself beyond the limits of this forum, feel free to go here and consider going one step further by taking one of my courses.

On that page, I include introductory and informative videos plus testimonies from students, not unlike you, who took these courses and commented on their results.

Remember, knowledge is power, but execution trumps knowledge.

I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.

Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.

Keep exposing companies for what they are. We need to know.

  2. Andrea Taylor says:

You said to try Chelidonium Maj 6x twice daily…Is that 1 pellet twice daily? This is my first time trying a homeopathic approach.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The number of pills is printed on the outside of the bottle.

  3. Bell richardson says:

In many cases you recommend 200C of a remedy daily…
Curious why you recommend 6C in this case?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

When I refer to protocols, the potency is predetermined.

  4. Val says:

    Hello!
Would this be the same protocol even for a three year old? I know the dosage would be different, but
The cravings for sweets is very strong. Thank you for your help.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Regardless of age, this is the protocol.

      1. Nicole says:

I am confused; 6x, 6c, 200c, 1 twice a day, “bottle” states 3-5 pellets per day. Would it be possible to be exact in your dosing? Thank you

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

I often don’t include X or c because it differs around the world. I assume that what you can purchase in your neck of the woods is what you’ll be using.
I don’t offer the number of pills that comprise a dose because each manufacturing pharmacy differs as to what comprises a dose. Hence, I always direct people to read the bottle to determine the number of pills.

I’m otherwise quite specific in the frequency a remedy is used for a specific condition. ‘Rare in the world of homeopathy, I might add.

The more you read my blogs, join my Gateway to Homeopathy study groups, listen to my podcasts, the more you’ll know. I urge you to dive in. It will change the way you look at health and illness forever.

I so appreciate the good example that you set here. You care enough to correct a pass mistake. It encourages and gives me hope as a mother. I am so grateful to find an advocate in Ms Joette Calabrese.
The odds seem against us and the powers that be seem to be taking hold. But God will reward our acts of courage, even if they seem little to the world. Just this morning, I saw a box of Skittles under the dresser in the girls’s room. Thanks for giving a mother a way to address this pervasive problem.

  6. Nicki says:

Thank you..I”m going to try with my 15 year old son….he is constantly asking for sweets and/or buying them himself when we are out….Ugh…

  7. Carolina Monterroso says:

Will try this with someone with Diabetes 2 who craves sugar. I will also give it to my grandchildren. I have read sugar cravings continue for as long as one consumes sugar in varied forms. If one stops the habit, it will take a while, but the craving will stop. I read the place in the brain where sugar components “go” or attach themselves are close or similar to those of other big drugs…

    1. Pat Fitzsimmons says:

That is my understanding as well. The more sugar you eat, the more you crave it and stopping sugar will eventually stop cravings but it is hard to do. There is an older book written about the strongly addictive qualities of sugar but can’t remember the name of it.

Joette, 32 years ago Pepsi Co was also my account working in Dallas at an ad agency. It was the agencies prized account. I worked with the central region mainly Chicago, Minneapolis and Ann Harbor, MI. It was my first experience working with a Fortune 500 company and had many perks. Thereafter I worked for a PBM in another state and gained insight for this industries influence as well. Wish more understood the $$$, power, and influence of advertising and the media. Thank you for sharing this important medicine with us.
