Estrogen Dominance and Other Red Herrings

Elle had “estrogen dominance.” She received this diagnosis from a functional medicine practitioner.

I’m actually happy for the likes of functional medicine doctors. Finally, an MD specialty that takes a holistic view, paying attention to how all the systems of the body function together.

But welcome as they are, I still believe that homeopathy has a greater advantage over functional medicine, naturopathy, and other branches of medicine.

I’ll tell you why, but first let me tell you Elle’s story:

Elle was in her late 40s when she wanted to cease relying on bioidentical progesterone cream and find a way to balance her hormones without it. Besides, some of the problems she had before starting these hormones were still plaguing her.

She had had lengthy and detailed hormone blood and saliva test panels done.

But perhaps surprising to many, when using homeopathy, this information is superfluous.

Employing the method I use and teach, it’s better to put aside the “estrogen dominance” model. Instead, we take advantage of the conventional diagnosis, including her complaints, a description of what they feel like, and any other symptoms she may have that don't necessarily fit under the “estrogen dominance” umbrella – things like food intolerances and warts.

After putting aside the estrogen idea, it turned out that Elle’s main complaints were irregular, flooding cycles, vaginal pain with leukorrhea, and fatigue.

Now, this is the information we’re after.

It’s well known that hormonal imbalances may be the cause of problems such as PCOS, endometriosis, hot flashes, vaginal dryness, PMS, dysmenorrhea, cyclical acne, mood swings, and various other complaints.

Recently, the term “estrogen dominance” has increasingly been put forward as an explanation for most, if not all of these issues.

The question that often goes unanswered is, “what caused the hormonal imbalance in the first place?”

The reason many women seek a functional doctor is because most conventional allopathic practitioners not only fail to address this question, but they utilize methods that rarely correct the underlying problem, merely suppressing symptoms while causing new, more sobering illnesses.

Naturopaths, functional medicine doctors, chiropractors and other holistically-minded physicians often do address the question, but solutions are very difficult to come by.

Explanatory theories include the influence of toxic, estrogen-like hormones in our environment, drugs and medical treatments (especially hormonal birth control), nutritional deficiencies (especially low-fat diets), or nutritional excesses (especially foods containing phytoestrogens like soy, or polyunsaturated fatty acids).

Treatment usually involves expensive supplements (often with questionable additives), synthetic hormone replacement therapy, strict and difficult diets, and generally lots of expensive and time-consuming follow-up tests to monitor progress.

Now let’s look at homeopathy.

Given that it has seen 230+ years of practice in Europe, the U.S., South America and India, long before theories of which hormones might be causing what, it has effectively cured these conditions without rhetoric.

In other words, homeopathy addresses root causes without needing to know what that root cause is.

Why? Because symptoms never lie … they present in the same way, regardless of explanations. The nom de jour matters not, whether it's labeled as “estrogen dominance,” “progesterone dominance” or even “hysteria” (as it used to be called a century ago).

Using the Banerji Protocols, or what I call Practical Homeopathy®, all we need is the diagnosis (conventional, that is) and a few symptoms.

From there, it's practically paint-by-numbers.

I’m not a physician, so I don’t diagnose. But a diagnosis from a physician can be, and often is, required in order to make a good remedy selection.

In Elle’s case, her diagnosis was clear. She had leukorrhea, fatigue, vaginal pain and flooding.

Here are the homeopathic medicines she took:

  1. Kreosotum 200C every other day for leukorrhea
  2. Sepia 200C every other day for her menses, fatigue and vaginal pain.
  3. Ammonium carbonicum 200C every other day for ailments related to the use of synthetic hormones, and to ease her menopausal transition without props.

Within a few months, Elle was off the synthetic, bioidentical hormones, the discharge was gone after about 2 weeks, and her menses became more regular and lighter. The vaginal pain persisted but to a much lesser degree.

Her energy was evident and with a lilt in her voice, she verified that it was back to the way it had been years prior. After several months of following this regimen, she was able to stop using the homeopathics and was on her way to her post-menopausal years without patented drugs or any plaguing symptoms.

Homeopathy treats the presenting symptoms and the diagnosis, regardless of the theory behind the cause, and regardless of whether we understand which hormone is causing what symptom. Instead, it assists the body in finding its way to correction.

Just like what these homeopathic medicines did in the 1700s, 1800s, 1900s and into the 21st century, the very same medicines will do their good work now to correct hormone disturbances, notwithstanding today’s justifications of the synthetic, bioidentical alternatives.

This is why I love Banerji Protocol (or Practical) homeopathy. It’s not capricious nor dependent on the latest version of medical theories … AND it can be figured out and applied with just a little knowledge.

I have been where you are now. I’ve dieted, taken supplements, bioidentical hormones, essential oils, herbs – but nothing, nothing has ever come close to the reproducible, safe, and effective results I and my clients have achieved with homeopathy. I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.

Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.
