Sharing is in our nature. You name it; we love to share it: whether recipes, preserves, photos, jokes or ideas.
Talking, sharing and laughing with others is a fundamental part of a full and healthy life.
But sometimes, when we share our opinions on controversial subjects, the laughter stops.
“Never discuss religion or politics in polite company.” Remember that old saw?
Unfortunately, if you’re passionate about both, those are exactly the subjects you want to discuss with others!
You want people to understand your beliefs — and perhaps introduce them to new ideas that will help sway them to your way of thinking.
Right now, the subject on everyone’s mind is health.
And just like religion and politics, homeopathy is another subject that can be controversial.
Some people are open to learning about it, while others are ready to bombard you with criticisms and objections.
It’s imperative we focus on getting across a positive message and don’t let our emotions get the best of us. It’s the only way people will actually hear what we’re saying, rather than putting up their defenses and shutting down.
So, in keeping with our “2020 Twenty” theme this year, here are 20 ways you can counter these specific attacks on homeopathy, drafted by Americans for Homeopathy Choice:
“Homeopathy is not legitimate medicine!”
1. Homeopathy is a federally recognized form of medicine — a category of drugs listed in the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act and regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
2. Homeopathy is backed by thousands of research studies, papers and clinical trials.
3. With over 200 years of clinical experience and publications for insight into their patients’ needs, some 250,000 physicians confidently prescribe thousands of homeopathic medicines to more than 500 million people around the world.
4. Homeopathy is incorporated into the World Health Organization’s “Traditional Medicine Strategy, 2014-2023” document, which outlines the WHO’s aim to “promote universal health coverage by integrating T&CM [Traditional and Complementary Medicine] services into health service delivery.”
5. Governments in the following countries recognize homeopathy as a system of medicine, medical specialty and/or a complementary or alternative treatment:
a. Europe: Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom
b. Americas: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, United States
c. Asia/Middle East: India, Iran, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates
d. Africa: Nigeria, South Africa, Swaziland
e. Western Pacific: New Zealand
“Homeopathy is not safe!”
6. Homeopathic medicines are nontoxic because they are ultradilute, and this makes them appropriate for the treatment of children, the elderly and those with compromised immune systems.
7. Homeopathy is the safest category of drugs regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
8. If, occasionally, products falsely labeled as homeopathic make it to the marketplace, the FDA uses its enforcement authority to remove these products — just as it does with conventional pharmaceuticals which do not meet safety and quality standards.
9. For more information on safety, read “The Evidence for Homeopathy’s Safety and Effectiveness.”
“Homeopathy is merely a placebo!”
10. The clearest examples of why homeopathy is effective medicine and not merely a placebo come from its success in veterinary care, agriculture (plants), the treatment of infants, and in people who are unconscious or in a comatose state in an intensive care unit. Because scientists universally understand that in these circumstances what are called mind/body placebo effects cannot occur, it is preposterous to claim that the power of suggestion could be a factor in successful homeopathic treatment in such cases.
11. Large meta-analyses of double-blinded homeopathic studies have concluded that the homeopathic response is not a placebo effect.
12. Very often, patients seek homeopathic treatments after conventional medical interventions have failed to produce improvement, and may have even resulted in unpleasant or dangerous side-effects. Some patients subsequently seek alternative treatments other than homeopathy before trying homeopathic medicines. The fact that the placebo effect has not been induced as a result of previous interventions in these patients suggests that any subsequent improvement resulting from homeopathy should not be assigned to the placebo effect.
“Homeopathy is outside the mainstream — a fringe science.”
13. Homeopathy is nontoxic and ultradilute, properties that make it suitable for use in conjunction with conventional pharmaceutical drugs. Homeopathic drugs do not interact with pharmaceuticals, but rather work gently to activate a healing response from the entire human system.
14. Homeopathic physicians who are trained in both allopathic and homeopathic medicine say that allopathic and homeopathic medicine complement each other.
15. Supporters of homeopathy believe that patients should have the full array of treatment options available to them. This has special significance in an age with challenges such as opioid addiction and antibiotic overuse, both which are being addressed through homeopathy.
“Homeopathy can’t possibly work because no one understands the mechanism of its action.”
16. While the effectiveness of homeopathy has been established by a large volume of studies, including double-blind randomized trials — which are considered the gold standard of medical evidence — the mechanism by which homeopathy works is still being investigated. One promising area of research is nanoparticles; in particular, their adaptive network in organisms and stochastic resonance.
17. Most people believe that successful medical treatments come from a detailed understanding of how treatments work. The Washington Post reports in “One big myth about medicine: We know how drugs work” that “[k]nowing why a drug works has historically trailed the treatment, sometimes by decades. Some of the most recognizable drugs—acetaminophen for pain relief, penicillin for infections, and lithium for bipolar disorder, continue to be scientific mysteries today.”
“Homeopathy is outdated and old-fashioned.”
18. While homeopathy has a long history and is often grouped with so-called “traditional” approaches to medicine, homeopathic medicines are now being recognized as far ahead of their time because they incorporate features that are fast becoming the future of medicine. For instance, the medicines given to homeopathy patients have always been matched to the full circumstances and set of conditions of each patient. This approach of individualized medicine— now frequently called patient-centered care — has always been practiced by homeopathy professionals.
19. Homeopathic medicines are nontoxic, which is increasingly seen as the path for the future of medicine. Nontoxic medicines are appropriate for people of all ages and with all conditions.
20. In an age of sharply rising drug costs, homeopathic medicines remain affordable and accessible.
Again, we must remain calm, productive and positive when we talk to others about homeopathy. (In other words, if you’re hit with one of the objections mentioned above, keep your frustrated sighs and eye-rolls down to a minimum!)
People, in general, react well to facts! Give them the appropriate specifics — in a non-reactive conversation — and allow them to digest the information.
It’s the best way to pass on the good news of homeopathy!
Warmly,
I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.
Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.
Joette is not a physician and the relationship between Joette and her clients is not of prescriber and patient, but as educator and client. It is fully the client's choice whether or not to take advantage of the information Joette presents. Homeopathy doesn't "treat" an illness; it addresses the entire person as a matter of wholeness that is an educational process, not a medical one. Joette believes that the advice and diagnosis of a physician is often in order.

Hi Joette, so appreciate your efforts to keep us informed. I opened the link to the “The Evidence for Homeopathy’s Safety and Effectiveness.” Being new to homeopathy, I never understood the potency values. A paragraph in this article gave me my aha moment of understanding. Also, I just ordered my Gateway 1 course. Thanks so much!
Great! ‘See you when your group meets with me at the end of your classwork.
Sweet! Looking forward, that’ll be a great way to finish the course!
Thank you for putting this list together for those of us trying to explain homeopathy to our friends and health care providers!
Belgium not.
Love this! Thank you!
Hi! Do you have a blog post on remedies for different stages of the corona virus? The pneumonia stage is the most worrying, where them phlegm collects and hardens in the lungs, suffocating the patient. What remedies would you advise for each stage?
I’ve been covering this topic on my Face book Live events, every Monday night at 8PM EST. You may view it also on Youtube. Tomorrow, I’ll be going over how I’m treating my self and my husband regarding stages.
The video from Monday wasn’t working, always breaking down. You said you will re do it, where can I find it as it’s very important with everything is going around. Thank you, Françoyse
Tomorrow afternoon or evening it will be up.
Joette, is a CoronaVirus Nosode available now?
I’m not aware of it. But the pharmacies are at full capacity trying to keep up with the demand for more common remedies. Watch my Facebook Live tonight at 8PM EST and I’ll be discussing the medicines to have on hand and how to use them.
If you miss it, you may watch later on FB or Youtube. Pls send others to this tonight. I have been in touch with my colleagues throughout the world and I have been working with several who likely have it. This info could be quite valuable to many.
I spoke too soon. Dana Ulman has it on his site.
Hi Joette, I have two general questions which I think would be of interest to many. If camphora turns out to be the best universal remedy for the corona virus, is that safe for people who must take prescription drugs? The second question would be, what can we do if they make a vaccine against the virus mandatory? Thanks so Much!
I don’t know of any incidents of Camphor antidoting drugs that are being taken. That’s not how it works. At this juncture, I don’t believe there is one universal homeopathic genus epidemicus. Watch my Facebook Live presentation I posted tonight. You may also watch it on Youtube.
Joette, I checked YouTube for your latest video but the only one I see from recently is dated 3-16. Did I overlook something?
It should be up now. If not, try again this evening.
Thank you for the response. I still can’t find it…
I read comments on the backside of this blog so I don’t have your question readily available. What are you looking for?
Hello Joette,
Thank you so much for all you have done for me personally…I know you are just being you, passionate about homeopathy, and compassionate with people, and helping us think of illness and getting better on new ways!!!
I have to share this:
Lachesis 30c four doses in a short time frame has helped 9 people I know with their flu/cold symptoms…I have been trying to figure out why?
Please bear with me as I present to you my hypothesis
This is what corona virus is said to do
Initiate an immune response, that can become overwhelming to the body, leave it drowning in fluid…why?
From what I can understand, it is the cytokine storm that is the issue.
Cytokines are proteins that are triggered during an immune response, but they can become the problem.
You teach us, go by symptoms, this leads us to best remedies, go by diagnosis, this gets us better results if we are applying BPs.
I read a homeopathic blog, they treated 8 people being overwhelmed by flu, using classical approach, a remedy was chosen…lachesis 30 given like this 2 doses in an hour, one dose every 2 hours, up to 6 doses that day, then two doses a day the following 2 days. This encouraged an immune response that helped clients recover.
This is what you teach, when a remedy induces sleep, we are on right track, you also teach us to learn remedies using key words.
I learned lachesis like this:blood disordered.
So my question is why would lachesis be helpful?
So I read more on this.
Its the cytokine storm that proves too much for the body.
Cytokines are proteins in blood.
Lachesis is for blood being disordered!
I personally put this to the test…so far 9 people, tho not tested for corona, responded with sleep using lachesis…I am one of those people!
6 says onto my illness, that I was treating homeopathic…I found myself changing remedies with my symptoms, trying to keep up with what was presenting more or severe.
Tickling cough, fever, body aches, stiff neck, nausea, dry heaves, chest pressure, dry coughing, flashes of heat…everything I used was holding me, but as for making strides, no! I wasn’t.
As I was reading and researching, I decided lachesis seems to make sense, but I didn’t use it. My husband started with simple tickling cough…which is how I began 6 says prior…I wasted no time!
Sue Meyer teaches belladonna 30 is great viral interrupter, gave him one dose of that, hopefully change its course.
Banerjis teach us that Thuja 30c is antiviral, I gave one dose of that.
Based on a homeopathic blog that reported great success with lachesis 30c, I used that for 4 doses,he fell asleep on couch after 2nd dose!
Since I was in day 6 of my illness, with no dramatic improvements, but holding my own and certainly not getting worse, slow improvement would be more accurate…I decided to jump in with lachesis! I was sleepy after 3rd dose, took 4th before bed…some up with clear dramatic improvements!!!! The biggest jump for the better came after lachesis!!
I have recommended this approach to family and friends…so far 9 people, took bell, thuja, then 4 doses lachesis.they all reported they felt sleepy after lachesis!
So here’s my summation, lachesis 30 must be dealing with the cytokines…from the standpoint of blood being disordered…
I still dealt with inflammation left, but not feeling ill still…but lungs effected, so used ant tart200,spongia30, hepar 30, and lyco30 for the full feeling in chest that was caused by lung inflammation!
I have seen 9 people respond to lachesis!!
I certainly acknowledge I am no scientist, doctor or homeopathic practioner.
I am acknowledging that I felt what lachesis did for me and my husband…he by the way, had no more coughing, or any symptoms that progressed…3 says later, the lung feeling…ant tart200, hepar30, aconite bry cleared this in TWO DAYS!!! Done!!!
This is my personal experience.
I just wanted to share…it could be a fluke and a coincidence…but just in case it isn’t, and anyone reading can know…lachesis is a real powerhouse, I would never have known if someone hadn’t taken the time to post!
Lachesis is one of our main medicines for asthma and other lung conditions as well as vascular conditions.
I love your Blogs
Sandra,
Thank you so much for taking the time to post your experience! I appreciate it:)
