Hi Friends!

busterblog3

It's me, Buster.

I know it's been a while since my last post, but I haven't been able to use Joette’s computer without her noticing what I'm up to.

And OK, I admit it, I've been enjoying my toasty spot under her desk so much, my paws have just been too lazy to type!

Ahh…such is the life of an office dog.

I do have a bone to pick though, and I couldn't help myself from jumping on the keyboard to tell you all about it.

It all started when Bella and her human family moved in down the street.Bella

I'll just come right out and say it … I'm in love!

Here’s Bella. We’re even the same breed, but she’s much better groomed than me!

The problem is, this weather is not doing my skin (and I'm sure yours) any favors … super dry and even cracked in places. For me, it's far worse during the winter.

You can understand my dilemma; I couldn't exactly ask for Bella's paw when my own was so darn ruff!

Lucky for me, I have Joette. She knows me so well, I didn't even have to tell her why I was sniffing around her homeopathy kits for the best remedy to soothe my parched pads.

She let me in on a little secret I'm going to share with all of you (just don't tell her it was me who told you!) It's really pretty simple: Petroleum 200, every other day until the skin is much improved. Then you stop.

It's that easy! Trust me, this works on the driest, most cracked skin (especially the kind you get during the winter months!)

I don't mean to brag, but my mitts have never looked or felt better after taking Petroleum 200 over a period of about 2 weeks.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to fetch a date with the prettiest hound in town …

Until next time!

Buster (The Bad Office Dog)

Joette here. I want to confirm that Petroleum 200 every other day is used for humans and pets alike.

The response to this medicine is beyond what coconut oil or any lotion can provide. If, however, you must use an oil, I urge folks to use only 100% edible oils.

If you can’t eat it, don’t wear it!

Synthetic products can suppress skin conditions and cause deepening pathology at a later date.

I also want to share with you a website a client of mine made me aware of some months ago, www.Itsan.org. with regards to steroid withdrawal syndrome.

For those with skin conditions that have been “treated” with steroids, it’s a must-read site.

Should you be interested in learning how to uproot such skin withdrawal conditions, feel free to go to my course, Skin: The Ugly Truth.

In my estimation, Homeopathy is one of the few medical methods capable of uprooting such suffering.

Once your fingers, hands, and feet are clear of painful winter cracks, pass on the good word to friends, family and colleagues.

Let’s cure one paw at a time!

I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.

Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.

  1. Ashley says:

How many doses per day on dosing day?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      One dose every other day.

  2. Grace says:

Would this work for a year-round dry, chapped lower lip?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Petroleum works best when the skin is worse in winter, even though it might be a year round condition and if it cracks. Having said this, chapped lips usually represent allergies, and if that is the case, that condition may need to be addressed with homeopathy.

If you decide to do this, please let us know how it goes.

  3. Erin says:

I’ve been struggling for years with a worsening rash – through developed food allergies, Histamine Intolerences, Mold (which was a huge rash factor and I’m super sensitive too now) and Chemicals all cause rashes. My hands crack and itch and harden terribly. I have tried 12+ (homeopathic, integrative, naturopathic, and allopathic) doctors, all kinds of protocols and nothing has worked. I am really interested in homeopathy again although the previous liquid remedies I tried from a practitioner did absolutely nothing. I’m curious does the Lactose present in the remedies cause issues for those with a problem with Dairy? Also I wonder if the Red Skin Syndrome has played a part in this puzzle too.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Red Skin Syndrome is certainly a strong consideration. I don’t find that the milk sugar causes trouble in most folks, but if it does, the medicines can be purchased in grain alcohol or water.

    2. Barbara says:

Hello Erin, I’d like to mention something that happened to my husband. He worked at a fertilizer/grain/feed store and like many who worked there, he developed a rash on his hands that would present with tiny blister like bumps that would eventually erupt and cause his hands to dry and crack. We went to doctors and was eventually he was told he’d need to wear this cream daily with rubber gloves for the rest of his life. That didn’t go over too well. My husband to this day feels it was mold that started his problem, because they were exposed to it with the grain bins that had to clean out. He went to an iridologist who also sold Nature’s Sunshine. He had him try this Oregon grape root on his hands. He told him if it started to go away to take it internally. Well, it started to work so my husband started taking it internally and it also cleared up a cough he had had for years. To say the least my husband eventually stop the Oregon grape root due to finances, but when his symptoms start back up, he will tell me to get him some more.

      1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Therein lies the difference between homeopathy and other holistic (and even allopathic) methods. Homeopathic medicines are super inexpensive. A bottle that will likely last months, sometimes years, costs on average between $7-$15. But more importantly, it is curative.

  4. JoyfulJan says:

Thank you so much for this remedy! Oh, if I would have only known about homeopathy growing up. I had ecxema so bad that I would buy Vaseline by the one pound jar size. I can’t wait to see how this will work on a heel crack I have now.
Is this a remedy that might be useful for ecxema?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

If the symptoms I described above are present, whether eczema, simple cracked skin or psoriasis, it can be strongly considered.

  5. Patricia says:

Hello Joette, will you educate me some on Petroleum? I thought Petroleum face products etc were toxic to humans?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Homeopathy is a medicine that uses what is often toxic in its original, gross form, but is made curative in the highly diluted, homeopathic form.

  6. D Black says:

When giving this to a pet (dog) can it be given with wet food? They are raw fed. Thank you for the info.!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I often give Buster his remedies in his water.

  7. Jean says:

What about peeling & cracked psoriasis on the bottoms of the feet and spots of it up the ankles and shins? Which is particularly worse in the Winter months?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Psoriasis is a different condition than what I described here.

  8. Amy G. says:

Hi – I see a version made by Boiron on Amazon – they seem to be pellets. Is that what you are referring to? My dog’s paw is red and huge. We can not find anything to make it better.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Homeopathy is generally made in pellets and I like Boiron’s products.

  9. Lois says:

What remedy do you recommend for exfoliative cheilitis?

    1. Sylvia Yalkin says:

Hi Lois, have you found a successful remedy for cheilitis ? If yes, I would appreciate if you woul share it.
      Thank you,
      Sylvia

  10. donna says:

where do you purchase petroleum 200

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      amazon

  11. Jean says:

Didn’t you say above in your comment to Joyfulfan that it can help with psoriasis ?? I am confused because you said in your reply to me that you are not talking about or referring to psoriasis but you did right above as I said in this opening sentence? Please clarify and also would also like to know the answer as well to Lois’s question above about exfoliative cheilitis ?? And what remedy is appropriate for that?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

No worries. I didn’t take offense. But Martha is correct. Although using the Banerji Protocols allows us to often use the name of the condition to choose the remedy, we must still consider the presenting symptoms in the last analysis, particularly in the case of skin conditions.
So my answer that it can be used for psoriasis as long as the symptoms match, means that the final decision is based not on the fact that its psoriasis, but that the skin cracks and is worse in winter. I might also add that psoriasis has often had steroids thrown at it through the years, even if only in small amounts, and that complicates the picture. Not un-doable, just more complex for a beginner.

  12. Martha says:

Let’s keep in mind that Joette is providing us with this information for free. Without this blog, we would be searching for remedies via books, materia medicas, etc. which can be a time consuming process. SOMETIMES posts come across harshly. When Joette responded regarding psoriasis previously, she stated “If the symptoms I described above are present, whether eczema, simple cracked skin or psoriasis, it can be strongly considered.” So I think (Joette please correct me if I am wrong), that it is the SYMPTOMS that are guiding you to Petroleum as a homeopathic remedy vs. the allopathic name (psoriasis, eczema, etc.) that is given. Thank you Joette for the time you give of yourself to educate us about homeopathy and its curative powers.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Yes, Martha, you’ve got it right. But with the addition of the Banerji Protocols to my teachings and practice, we can indeed start with the diagnosis. But when its time to differentiate between our choices, we must resort to comparison of presenting symptoms.

Also, thanks for your kind words.

  13. Jean says:

Hello Martha, To my surprise, I was trying to clarify the information that Joette was saying, no criticism involved at all, just pure clarification. Please understand that. I know what Joette does is simply amazing and that is why I read her information so very carefully, hence the specific questions and clarifications…. Realize that not all people who ask detailed questions are harsh. I am sure that when she reads my post she will understand I meant nothing personal by what I asked, and so sorry if it came off abrupt, because it certainly wasn’t meant to represent what you are implying. We all, I am sure, appreciate what Joette does in her hard work and research for all of us!!!!

    1. Barbara says:

Jean, don’t you just hate posting and texting… it takes all the inflection out of what you really mean and you run the risk of others missing the meaning. Take care.

  14. Jan Ellis says:

Buster, you sure know how to stir the pot!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      Thanks!

  15. lenicekay says:

Is it ok for young children (ages 5 & 7) to take this dose for their little dry & cracked hands? 🙁

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Homeopathy is used for newborns, during pregnancy, old age, animals… all! But a child with cracked hands? Are you sure they are really cracked or do you mean just dry? IF they’re not cracked and or worse in winter, then this is not your remedy.

  16. sueshealthagain says:

If your dog is highly allergic to pollen, can she also be allergic to homeopathic remedies? Thanks! I’m afraid to use them until I know for sure.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

What aspect of a homeopathic medicine would have an allergen?

      1. Sue says:

She seems to be allergic to everything (outdoors especially), I don’t know that much about it, so that’s why I was asking, and I was going to give my dog sulphur 200c and bovista 200c, like in the stinky dog blog. How many pellets is a dose? Thank you for your help.

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The number of pellets that is equal to a dose is printed on the side of the bottle.

  17. Barb says:

Buster I’m having a serous problem I scratch like crazy and I have bright red sores my owner has given me arscenic album seem to help then she gave me belladonna that help then it started all over again then she gave me urns then when my owner came home I have another sore I now have one behind my ear 2 on my back now on my head I won’t walk because it makes me itch I won’t lay down I am so miserable I am so sad sometimes I get cold easy but when I’m hot I itch more but I still scratch when I’m cold my other owner wants to take me to the vet please help if u can I’m going to the vet tomorrow after my owner comes home if nothing changes

  18. Barb says:

I forgot my mom also tried sulfur it made it worse

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The wrong medicine will cause the wrong reaction. Choose carefully.

  19. Rose Bohmann says:

I’ve been using petroleum 200 every other day for my winter cracked fingertips, and it’s probably better than when I wasn’t using it, but my fingertips still crack painfully, and sometimes bleed. Can I use it every day? or is there something I could add to make it work better?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

When a homeopathic medicine acts, we give it its full measure and allow it to complete its work. It can take many months for a condition to fully correct.

  20. Mary Herman says:

Buster, I have dry skin problems too…I ask my human mate “how does my skin feel”? He said in a kind voice, “like hide”… My “hide” is a year round problem… I take thyroid meds, doc just said blood work is fine…thyroids fine…Hashimoto’s fine? Well then why is my skin so dry, why am I usually cold, why am I so fatigued, why is my hair still falling??? She said “probably my RA”….I just said “thank you” but thought homeopathy to the rescue! I swear if humans didn’t require a yearly visit to the doctor for supplemental insurance I think I would chuck it! Your lucky to be a dog with a wise human….I’m thinking I should add a BP protocol for thyroid…don’t know if petroleum would work if it’s thyroid related…would you ask your human please, thanks Buster!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Dear fellow canine, It doesn’t matter what the cause of the dry, cracked skin is, if its dry and cracked its a good remedy. If the thyroid is low, then you can also use the hypothyroid protocols to address that condition.

  21. Rachel says:

I use Calcarea Fluorica (Calc. Fluor.) 6x for skin cracks, which I get on my hands, lips, and finger tips when it is dry (especially in the winter). They heal up faster when I take it.

    1. Mary Herman says:

Will that help skin that looks withered Buster? …human skin withered looking

      1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I’m not sure what you mean by withered looking, but this particular medicine is for cracking and peeling.

        1. Mary Herman says:

Thanks Buster, I’m much older than your human, 71 in fact… if Joette has ever worn a blouse made fron crepe material you would understand withered looking. I am hoping my protocol for hypothyroidism will help my skin regain more moisture and elasticity, I don’t like looking like a withered piece of fruit. I was hoping a cell salt might help plump me up, hey thanks for listening to a great grandma!

        2. Mary Herman says:

Wanted to add this crepe paper skin is on my legs and arms. My concern is that maybe it is a sign of dehydration , I know the best I ever felt was when I was given an iv after an operation. I think it was electrolytes. I sometimes have muscle spams, could have sworn we had rats living in the couch, yet every where I sat or laid I felt this movement. We decided spasms…took Cuprum Ars 6c helps. Would Cuprum help a dehydrated condition?

        3. Mary Herman says:

Wanted to say I think dehydration because I run a low grade temperature all the time with my autoimmune diseases . Have you written anything I can look at that would address this. I’m wondering about China or Cuprum Ars ? Sorry I know your talking cracking peeling ruff skin… where can I look ? please?

  22. Jaref says:

Oh yes! Will this work for thin, crepe paper like skin? Thanks!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I doubt it. Its for cracked and or dry skin.

  23. Karisse says:

My two year old’s lips seem to constantly be peeling and he’s started picking them to the point of bleeding. The weather doesn’t seem to make a difference. I think i saw in the comments that it could be allergy related? Remedy suggestion?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Please carefully read the article. Etiology matters not.

  24. Nitin says:

    Dear Joette Mam

Very new to homeopathy I am.

Winters and also in summers my heels do get cracked.

Currently its very cold in my town.

    Should I try petroleum 200.

Does it mean 4 small pills of petroleum200.

Not very good at English (so please ignore any fault )
    I hope I am understood

    Regards

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Petroleum is often the correct medicine for heels that crack any time of the year.

  25. Anne Orso says:

Would this help with dryness of the skin around the eyes? Seems I have more wrinkles and the skin feels dry right now.

  26. Andrea says:

Hi thank you so much for all your posts. It’s very informative. Is once a day every other day also recommended if you have flare up in the winter all over your body. Or would you recommend taking it more than once a day every 3 days? Thanks

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

The only time I’d waiver is if I took the case and found a very compelling reason to veer from the protocol. What you describe is not enough.

      1. Andrea says:

I get really dry skin and flair ups after I shower but it only happens in the winter. I have dry patches all over my body. Not just my hands. So is the remedy recommendation of once a day every other day just for people that have dry skin in only one part of the body? Is someone like me that I have the dry skin patches and crack skin all over have to take it more the once a day?

        1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

I teach protocols. A protocol is very specific for the name of the condition. Any variations should not be entertained unless there is a powerful rationale and what you offer is not powerful enough.

          1. Andrea says:

I have eczema. When you say what I offer is not powerful enough what do u mean?

  27. Andrea says:

Hi thank you for your post. They are very informative. hi is it the same recommendation for winter flair ups of all over the body? Or once a day every other day enough for all over the body? Thanks

  28. Tee says:

Where do I get 200 petroleum?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

      amazon

  29. Jennifer says:

I took petroleum as directed and my heels are better but I still have a few cracks left. What is recommended for me?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

‘Happy to hear that what I teach is working for you.

      1. Jennifer says:

If the rest of my cracks don’t go away do I use the petroleum again?

  30. Yolanda says:

I have all 3 of your remedy kits but there is no Petroleum 200 in any of the kits. Do you have any other suggestions. My lips are burning cracked and dry.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

Remedies that are not found in kits may be found on Boiron, Hahnemann Pharmacy, Washington Homeopathics, or Amazon to name a few.

  31. Edina says:

    Dear Joette,

I know it’s an older post, hope you still see the comments…I have a question regarding petroleum. In The Banerji protocol for eczema with itchy cracked skin the petroleum is given 2D as opposed to eoD. With 2 other mixed remedies.
Can the petroleum be tried alone eoD, or is this specific for dry cracked skin without dermatitis? Is this also a Banerji protocol? Thank you!

  32. Sara says:

Would some people need to be on Petroleum 200 1x a day longer – say 1 month? Or if this is not working after 2 weeks should you stop?
