Mindful Homeopathy
Practical Protocols for Mental and Emotional Conditions

Anxiety…depression…bipolar…OCD…learning disorders…brain fog…PTSD…addictions…dementia…

Homeopathy has a history of uprooting these conditions.

These are my favorites that I guarantee you’ll use.

I created an infographic to give you hope that real, safe, efficacious alternatives to chemical drugs exist. Click here and read more.

This infographic contains some of my favorite remedies that I guarantee you’ll use.

Gelsemium

During this season where school is starting, moms across America are dealing with oodles of nervous children.

There is the first day of school to deal with (what will Suzie wear!?), which can be made even more difficult if you’ve recently moved to a new city.

School also inevitably brings quizzes, tests, and the ever-present (and extremely annoying) state-mandated examinations. Some children really struggle with anxiety related to testing.

I can actually relate to such anxiety. If you listen to my podcast, you may know that I have not always been a professional homeopath. I know it seems like I was born doing this, but that is not the case!

Among other professional positions I’ve held, I was once a realtor in the nation’s Capitol. If you want to learn about why I failed D.C.’s real estate test seventeen times, listen to my podcast #15.

But can you imagine the pre-test anxiety I had after I had failed that test the first half-a-dozen times??? It was not fun. I could feel an indescribable emptiness forming in the pit of my gut each time I nervously marched to the testing center.

Unfortunately, during this time in my life, I knew nothing about homeopathy and I was left to deal with this sort of anxiety alone!

But not for you moms!

The remedy for this type of anticipatory anxiety is Gelsemium (generally) 30; one dose taken twice a day and let me tell you, it is GORGEOUS! You can stop the remedy once the anxiety is resolved or the event is over. (Remember to apply the discount coupon code “Joette” at check-out for an additional 20% off!)

There is something very unique about the symptoms of anxiety when it is related to a specific event: Often, people experience looser bowel movements (in some cases, diarrhea), they may tremble a bit and feel a little clumsy, and they typically experience a lack of coordination in their movements. In general, they may want to be left alone in a quiet space.

Besides test-taking and the first day of school, think of this remedy for a variety of anticipatory situations where a person may feel anxious or nervous, such as:

  • Anxiety before a surgery
  • Certain types of insomnia where you are afraid of going to bed (for fear you may not fall asleep — in this case, the “event” is not a test but instead, the anticipated sleep!)
  • The feeling of “butterflies in the stomach” and an urgent need to use the restroom
  • Stage-fright (like a sporting or performance event where your child needs to tackle the quarterback or perform in a recital)

With Gelsemium, you will find you will not be paralyzed from the anxiety and that your trembling body will no longer feel so weak.

Homeopathy helps you get back on the horse, step onto the yellow school bus, or “break a leg” when you perform! Homeopathy gets it done!

I am a homeopath with a worldwide practice working with families and individuals via Zoom. I'm also a teacher and most importantly, a mom who raised my now-adult children depending on homeopathy over the last 31 years. I lived decades of my life with food intolerances, allergies, and chemical sensitivities until I was cured with homeopathy, so I understand pain, anxiety, and suffering. You may feel that your issues are more severe or different than anyone else’s, but I have seen it all in my practice and in my work in India. My opinion is that nothing has come close to the reproducible, safe and effective results that my clients, students and I have achieved with homeopathy.

Call today and learn how homeopathy might just be the missing piece in your health strategy.

This is great information and its the first time I’ve heard of something to relieve the specific problem with anticipatory anxiety as separate from just anxiety phobia as such. I have clients that also have fear of death. Would this remedy be good for that issue and if so what would be the recommended dosage.

    1. Fear of death is usually aconite.

  2. Martha says:

Hi Maria, I remember reading that Arsenicum Album can help with “fear of death.”

  3. Mary DiJiosia says:

Anything for undetermined daily anxiety? Feeling short of breath, tight in the gut and chest, clenching jaw every morning and intermittent throughout the day.

Plug in the word “Anxiety” into the search bar of this blog and you’ll find what you’re looking for.

  4. Kimberly says:

Hi Joette, thank you for the info! Would this help if a child is terrified of going to the doctor? She gets nervous leading up to it, and when there is very agitated, clutching at me, and very scared of their machines and being harmed.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Its certainly one of the main ones. However, for my son as a child, I gave him Aconitum 200 for when we went to the dentist.

      1. Kimberly says:

Thank you! I will try Gelsemium next time as we have tried Aconite, 2-3 doses while there, and it didn’t seem to help.

  5. What a blessing. My son was just expressing to me his stress and anxiety over school today and I did not know which remedy he needed. Thank you Joette!

  6. Mae says:

Great info for back to school…. we still have 14 days but who’s counting! I took gelsemium before my surgery and it worked wonderfully for my anticipatory anxiety. I will keep this remedy in mind as the first day approaches. Thank you Joette!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

There was a problem that seems to have been corrected now. Try again.

  8. Judy says:

Would Gelsemium or Ignatia be the better choice for test anxiety with insomnia? I thought I remembered reading that Ignatia would work for this too.

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Both could potentially act but Gelsemium is closer to the situation.

  9. Lanie Yaswinski says:

Joette – what about separation anxiety for young kids who are starting preschool? My daughter started last week…all the kids seem better last week, but now the novelty has worn off this week, reality is kicking in and several of them including Anna are crying, clinging, not participating at school. Last night trying to fall asleep Anna cried and cried “I don’t want to go to school tomorrow!” She doesn’t really have any other physical symptoms. Thank you!

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

‘Sounds like school jitters to me.

  10. Anne says:

Hi Joette, a dear friend shared your blog with me. I’m trying to figure out what the right remedy is for my 12 year old daughter for school-related anxiety, because her “symptoms” match several different formulas I’ve read about on your site. She suffers from nausea and lack of appetite off and on at school, especially when she is nervous about something or is emotionally upset by something that happened at school. She often brings uneaten food home that I packed for her, even things she likes. Insomnia is also a problem. Thanks for steering me in the right direction. I hate to see her suffering!

  11. Brooke says:

Wondering if this could help with my 18 month old who is dealing with separation anxiety like crazy! I stay home with my children and no one else will suffice. I know this is normal and probably worse because she’s with me all the time. Just thinking there must be something to take the edge off.

  12. Rachel says:

    Dear Mrs. Calabrese,

Thank you for this wonderful information!

I noticed that you said that Gelsemium is “(generally)” called for. I recently read about Argentum Nitricum 200 being used for anxiety in “what if” situations, do you like this one sometimes? If so, would this be a correct example… Gelsemium for anxiety over a test coming up and Argentum Nitricum for suspense & anxiety in waiting for the test results?

Thank you very much for your teachings,
    Rachel

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(Na) says:

Yes, that’s correct and there are many others as well.

      1. Rachel says:

Thank you Mrs. Calabrese. I’ve been loving your courses… looks like I’ll need to add “Mindful” to my wish list to learn more. 🙂

  13. Christine Vincent says:

How long before the test date should gelsemium be taken?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

We use homeopathic medicines based on symptoms. This means that once the suffering commences, the medicine becomes appropriate.

  14. Mary Herman says:

Anticipatory fear seems to be a deep seated problem for me, I wonder if I might need Gelsemium 200c twice a day?

    1. Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH says:

Before starting on a homeopathic, I urge you to read up on it in your materia medica. That will help you confirm your thinking.
